Canada: Imam says jihad is ‘pinnacle of Islam,’ prays
‘Oh Allah, act with cruelty against the Jews [and] Christians’
Why is this not “hate speech” according to Canadian law? Canada has an “Islamophobia czar,” but who in the Canadian government polices hateful statements like these? Once again we see a glaring double standard, as in the UK and US.

Canadian imam Adnan Abyat said in his August 2, 2024 Friday sermon in Coquitlam, in the Vancouver, BC area, that Jihad is the “pinnacle of Islam” and that Allah has awakened the desire for Jihad. He said that the “Jews – may Allah curse them” killed Hamas leader “the martyr” Ismail Haniyeh, whom he called a “mujahid leader,” and the same people had tried to poison Prophet Muhammad in the past. Abyat said that it is only the mujahideen whom the Jews kill, because they are afraid to face them. He prayed that Allah may curse the “Zionist war machine” and its Christian and atheist supporters, including the United States. The sermon was streamed live on the YouTube channel of Masjid Alhidayah – ISBC (Islamic Society of British Columbia).
Adan Abyat: “I attest that Muhammad is Allah’s servant and His prophet who awakened the desire for Jihad and incited the believers, who made Jihad for the sake of Allah the pinnacle of Islam, and the one who said that Paradise is underneath the shades of the swords. His shari’a elevated the status of the mujahideen and he said that Jihad for the sake of Allah raises a man a hundred levels in Paradise and the distance between levels is like the distance between heaven and earth. May Allah be pleased with the martyr, the persevering mujahid leader who lived as he wanted, free and proud – Ismail Haniyeh, may Allah have mercy on his soul.
“One of the highest qualities of a Muslim, one who believes in Allah and His Messenger, is to fight for the sake of Allah and to get killed as a martyr in the cause of Allah. There is no life brighter than this life, and there is no death more honorable then this death; the death for [the sake of] Allah.
“The one who is mocking him…You mock the Prophet. He was poisoned by the Jews… may Allah curse them. The same people who killed this brother, Ismail Haniyeh, may Allah have mercy on his soul, this leader, this chief, this mujahid – they tried to kill the Prophet before. So it is not new about them. The people who killed the prophets of Allah and the righteous people, and everyone who got killed by them, are showing us that they are only killing the mujahedeen for the sake of Allah, because they are frightened by them. They cannot face them so come and kill them by betraying them, using the hypocrites from our Islamic nation to guide them towards them. Without the hypocrites that we are living with, this could not achieve anything.
“Ahmad Yassin, may Allah have mercy on his soul, the chief of Hamas before [Haniyeh] and Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, they went through the same path, the path of the mujahedeen and righteous for the sake of Allah. The war machine and the killing machine of the Zionists… may Allah curse them and the Christians that are supporting them… May Allah curse them, the Christian and atheist countries that are supporting them, the U.S., and everyone that is supporting them – may Allah curse you.
“Oh Allah, act with cruelty against [the Palestinians] enemies – the Jews, plundering Zionists, Christians, and those who aid them. Oh Allah, annihilate the hypocrites of the Islamic nation. Oh Allah, count them, kill them one by one, and do not leave a single one of them.”
