9 cops killed, 5 taken hostage in Balochistan

Attack sparks protests in Ziarat, where relatives of the slain officers block highways

Following the attack, Pakistani security forces and police launched a clearance operation in the area

Dubai: At least nine Pakistani police personnel were killed and five were abducted after heavily armed militants attacked a police checkpoint in Balochistan’s Ziarat district, media reports said, citing police officials.

According to the reports, the attackers stormed a police post in the Mangi area late Monday, triggering a gun battle in which nine officers were killed.

Ziarat Superintendent of Police Abdul Qudoos said the assailants also abducted five police personnel before fleeing the scene. The bodies of the slain officers were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

Security forces launch operation

Following the attack, Pakistani security forces and police launched a clearance operation in the area, Geo News and Dawn reported.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said 15 militants were killed during the operation. The spokesperson identified them as members of Fitna Al Khawarij, a term used by Pakistani authorities for certain militant groups.

Rind said intelligence-based operations would continue across the province and vowed that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.

The attack sparked protests in Ziarat, where relatives of the slain officers, local tribes and transporters blocked major highways in the district.

According to Geo News, the demonstrations disrupted traffic on the N-50 Highway, linking Balochistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the N-70 Highway, connecting the province with Punjab, leaving hundreds of passenger buses and freight vehicles stranded.

Violence on the rise

The attack comes amid a renewed surge in militant violence in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, provinces that border Afghanistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused militant groups of operating from Afghan territory, an allegation the Afghan Taliban administration has denied. Relations between Islamabad and Kabul have remained strained despite several rounds of talks aimed at improving border security.

The latest attack follows a series of recent security operations and militant assaults that have highlighted persistent instability in Pakistan’s western border regions.

Fourteen Christians Beheaded as Islamic State Operations Expand in D. R. Congo

Fourteen Christians were beheaded in two separate attacks in north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as the Islamist insurgency expands its scope.

Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) claimed the killing of six believers on June 3, followed by another eight on June 24.

Both massacres took place in the village of Mungbere, Watsa Territory, Haut-Uélé Province. It appears to be the first time that ISCAP fighters have targeted Christians in Haut-Uélé.

Security experts have assessed that the ISCAP expansion into Haut-Uélé has been driven by counter-terrorism operations in the terrorist group’s strongholds further south.

In addition, the shift may be an attempt by ISCAP fighters to move away from the Ebola-affected provinces of Ituri and North Kivu. No confirmed cases of Ebola have yet been reported in Haut-Uélé, while 1,020 of the 1,118 cases confirmed across north-eastern DRC have been reported in Ituri.

In early June, ISCAP fighters burned down 80 “houses of Christians” in separate attacks elsewhere in Haut-Uélé….

Nigeria: Muslims murder 33 fishermen and loggers in two separate jihad attacks

Terror is the heart and center of Islam. These attacks are designed to make non-Muslims, as well as Muslims who don’t submit to Boko Haram, terrified and ready to submit. Meanwhile, women are terrified of men, who can beat them with impunity, men are terrified of Allah, who can torture them forever in hellfire, and non-Muslims in general are terrified of Muslims, who may come upon them and kill them without warning while they’re going about their business.

Nigeria: Around thirty fishermen and loggers killed by jihadists in the northeast

Boko Haram jihadists killed 33 fishermen and loggers in two separate attacks in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, two sources told AFP on Wednesday….

On Monday, two jihadist attacks claimed the lives of 27 fishermen in the Mafa district and six loggers in the Dikwa district, according to an anti-jihadist militia and a union official of fishermen in the region.

“The fishermen were intercepted by Boko Haram fighters on motorcycles two kilometers from the town of Mafa,” said Babakura Kolo, a member of an anti-jihadist militia assisting the army.

“All 27 fishermen were killed,” he said….

Earlier in the day, six woodcutters were shot dead by Boko Haram fighters while collecting firewood in the bush outside the village of Malam Maja in the neighboring district of Dikwa, Mr. Kolo said.

These loggers were among those displaced by insecurity linked to jihadist activities and were living in makeshift camps in the town of Dikwa, 90 km from Maiduguri, Kolo said.

The jihadists are increasingly targeting loggers, farmers, fishermen, ranchers and scrap metal dealers in the region, accusing them of spying on them and passing information to the army….

Mali: Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims murder at least 30 people in jihad raids on villages

Isn’t it interesting that a group calling itself the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin) would so often engage in mass murder. Is that the preferred way to support Islam and Muslims? It certainly seems that way. And if Western political and media authorities really cared about “Islamophobia,” shouldn’t they be going after groups such as this one, which make people associate Islam with violence and bloodlust, rather than going after people who simply call attention to jihadist atrocities and report accurately about their motivating ideology? Of course they should — if, that is, the entire “Islamophobia” initiative weren’t a scam meant to intimidate people into fearing to oppose jihad violence and Sharia oppression of women.

Armed fighters kill at least 30 people in attacks in central Mali

Dozens of people have been killed in attacks reportedly carried out by al-Qaeda-affiliated fighters in central Mali, the deadliest assault since armed groups launched a widespread coordinated assault late last month.

According to local, security and administrative sources speaking to the AFP news agency on Thursday, attacks on the villages of Korikori and Gomossogou in the Mopti region killed at least 30 people a day earlier. Three sources – including an aid worker, a diplomat and a security source – separately told the news agency Reuters that the assailants had hit two unnamed localities in Mopti, killing at least 50 on Wednesday.

The latest attacks come a day after armed fighters stormed the Kenieroba Central Prison, a recently built complex about 60km (37 miles) southwest of Bamako, which houses 2,500 prisoners, including at least 72 inmates considered “high value” by the Malian state.

Mali was shaken by a wave of attacks since April 25 and 26, when the al-Qaeda-linked ⁠group Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) joined forces with the Tuareg-dominated rebel group Azawad Liberation Front (FLA)….

Goita appeared on ‌state ‌television on April 28 and said the situation in Mali is under control….

 

Pakistan: Jihad suicide bomber murders 24 people in attack on train carrying military personnel

The Baloch Liberation Army, which wants an independent Balochistan, claimed responsibility. Pakistan is an arbitrary, fictional state with no actual central identity or national integrity, so there is no reason why Balochistan should not be independent. The BLA’s tactics, however, are straight out of the Qur’an, the point of reference for virtually everyone in the Islamic world, particularly those who think political change will bring them liberation.

“Indeed, Allah has bought from the believers their lives and their wealth, because the garden will be theirs, they will fight in the way of Allah and will kill and be killed. It is a promise that is binding on him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. Who fulfills his covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that you have made, for that is the supreme triumph.” (Qur’an 9:111)

Pakistan: 24 people killed after suicide bomber targets train carrying military personnel

Sky News, May 24, 2026:

At least 24 people have died after a suicide bomber targeted a train carrying military personnel and their families in Pakistan, officials say.

The shuttle service was travelling through the city of Quetta when a vehicle packed with explosives hit one of the carriages in a residential area, with people living nearby among the dead.

Two of the train carriages overturned and caught fire due to the force of the blast, sending black smoke into the air, according to footage online.

More than 70 others were injured in the explosion in the southwestern province of Balochistan, according ​to government and security officials.

Doctors at local hospitals said 20 people were in a critical condition.

The incident took place in an area where security forces are usually stationed.

Several buildings were damaged along with more than a dozen vehicles parked along the road, according to witnesses and images circulating on social media.

The train was carrying passengers from Quetta’s cantonment area to connect with ‌the Jaffar Express long-distance train when the blast happened.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “cowardly act of terrorism” in a post on X and offering condolences to the families of the victims.

Shahid Rind, a spokesperson for the Balochistan provincial government, said they “strongly condemn the targeting of innocent civilians and are deeply saddened by the loss of precious human lives. Terrorist elements deserve no leniency”.

A medical emergency was declared at hospitals in the city following the incident, and an investigation has been opened, he said.

Quetta is the capital of insurgency-hit Balochistan province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.

The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army, (BLA), which demands independence from Pakistan’s central government, has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack in a statement sent to reporters….
