Far Left in Germany Makes War on AfD and Conservative Journalists
Alternative für Deutschland is the anti-immigrant, or more exactly, anti-Muslim immigrant party, that has been soaring in the German polls, causing alarm within the ranks of left-wing parties that are horrified at any attempt to limit Muslim immigration. The leftists call the AfD names — fascists, far-right, neo-Nazis — in the hopes that some of that ridiculous name-calling will stick. And recently, 30,000 strong, they tried to shut down an AfD conference by means of physical intimidation of the delegates, and attacks on conservative journalists who had been present to cover the conference — an attack, in other words, on freedom of peaceful assembly and of freedom of the press.

Left-wing extremists hunt down conservative journalists at AfD party congress in Erfurt

Several conservative journalists have been chased and assaulted by left-wing extremists while covering protests against the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) federal party congress in the eastern German city of Erfurt, capital of the state of Thuringia, on July 4, 2026.
As thousands of protesters gathered to disrupt the party congress and block delegates from reaching the venue, some groups turned their attention to members of the press. Eyewitness accounts and reports from the media outlets involved describe conservative journalists being deliberately identified, singled out and pursued through the streets by masked activists before being surrounded and attacked, often by large groups against one or two reporters.
These physical attacks on conservative journalists were intended to prevent any negative coverage of violence from the far left, and any favorable coverage of the AfD conference in the conservative media. They are akin to those attacks on newspaper offices that the Nazis carried out early in the 1930s to silence opposition to Hitler.
The most serious assault targeted a reporting team from Apollo News, a Berlin-based conservative online news outlet specialising in German politics. Videos circulating on social media show a crowd chasing the journalists before surrounding them and launching a violent attack….
What were the journalists from Apollo News filming that the leftists were intent on preventing? They were filming violent leftist demonstrators blocking entrances to the building in Erfurt where the AfD’s annual meeting was being held. Such Stormtrooper tactics wouldn’t look good if the media transmits them, so why not use the same Stormtrooper tactics to prevent journalists from covering their… Stormtrooper tactics?
The German far left today is reminiscent of, though not nearly as violent, of the Baader-Meinhof gang of the 1970s, which carried out bombings, bank robberies, and assassinations, all in the name of “destroying imperialism.” The far left today targets those Germans who still believe they have a right not to allow millions of Muslim migrants to swamp them. Experience has shown that these migrants cannot be assimilated, and by dint of demographic conquest, from both continued immigration and from a much higher fertility rate for Muslim women, as compared to indigenous non-Muslims in Germany, they could eventually become a majority in the country. That is what the AfD wants to prevent, while there is still time. What is “far-right” or “fascistic” or “neo-Nazi” about that perfectly understandable desire?
According to Apollo News and Junge Freiheit, the attacks were not isolated confrontations but part of what the outlets described as a deliberate effort to drive conservative media away from the protests….
The leftists wanted to stage their menacing protests, and attempts to prevent delegates to the AfD annual conference from entering the building where it was being held, and at the same time, they did not want conservative journalists to be able to see for themselves and report on the leftists’ violence.
Despite the disruption, the protesters ultimately failed to achieve their main objective. Under heavy police protection, the AfD proceeded with its federal party congress as scheduled. Delegates re-elected co-leaders Alice Weidel, with about 81 per cent of the vote, and Tino Chrupalla, with about 70 per cent, each for a further two years and without opposing candidates.
It is the well-spoken, well-informed, intrepid, and very attractive Alice Weidel who will become Germany’s next chancellor if the AfD wins the next election. It will be hard for the left to defeat her.
Turn the tables on the far left. Call them out as the far-right fascists they are. They are a danger to democracy. It is they who have tried to shut down the AfD’s conference by preventing delegates from entering the building where the meeting was to take place. In the end, and only with the help of a massive police presence, the AfD delegates did manage to get through. And the same far-left rioters identified conservative journalists, whom they physically attacked to keep them away from reporting on the far left’s attempt to block the entrances to the AfD meeting. They shoved, punched, knocked down, and kicked those journalists in the head.
These are the real “far-right” enemy, the Anti-Fa Fascists, the fresh-faced left-wing neo-Nazis, the Stormtroopers in Kanye-West sneakers instead of jackboots.
