FIRST ON FOX: Two Michigan men have been charged in a foiled ISIS-inspired terror attack that allegedly would have involved a massacre in a Detroit suburb on Halloween, according to an FBI affidavit.
Mohmed Ali, of Dearborn, Michigan, and Majed Mahmoud are accused of plotting to launch a terror-inspired mass shooting codenamed “pumpkin,” according to court documents. They’ve been charged with receiving, transferring and attempting to receive and transfer firearms knowing and having reasonable cause to believe that they would be used to commit terrorism.
Ali practiced shooting at a local gun range multiple times, including with Mahmoud, a juvenile suspect referred to as “Person 1” and under the alias “Athari” — and once with an unnamed “Co-conspirator 4,” according to the complaint.
The charges come after Amir Makled, a lawyer for Ali, who was arrested Friday, claimed to The Associated Press that there was no plot and that he did not expect charges to be filed. Makled did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital Monday.
The men appeared in court on Monday.
William Swor, a defense attorney for Mahmoud, told reporters outside the courthouse he needed more time to review the complaint before commenting. But he said both defendants were 20 years old.
“Well, the complaint is 73 pages long,” he said, in response to multiple questions. “We haven’t had time to digest it or review it. There’s nothing to say at this point.”
In one exchange, intercepted by law enforcement, according to an affidavit, the unnamed juvenile suspect allegedly insisted that the attack should take place on Halloween and not a later date.
“So ya, I talked to my brothers. We are going to do pumpkin,” he allegedly told Ali. “I talked to…[Co-conspirator 4] and [Co-conspirator 5], they said it is getting bad. So we got to do pumpkin, ya.”…
Zohran Mamdani wins 2025 NYC mayoral election — wastes no time in declaring war on Trump in victory speech
New Yorkers elected their first socialist mayor Tuesday, handing far-left Democrat Zohran Mamdani a historic victory — as he claimed a mandate for his potentially budget-busting progressive agenda and all but declared war on President Trump.
The Associated Press and NY1 called the race for the 34-year-old Mamdani about 40 minutes after polls closed at 9 p.m., eliciting cheers from his supporters at his campaign’s Brooklyn watch party.
“New York, tonight you have delivered a mandate for change, a mandate for a new kind of politics, a mandate for a city that we can afford and a mandate for a government that delivers exactly that,” he said, taking the stage after 11 p.m.
He then taunted Trump, prompting cheers from the fired-up crowd.
“So Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up,” Mamdani said.
Mamdani, the Democratic nominee, carried 50.4% of votes to independent candidate Andrew Cuomo’s 42% at midnight, with nearly 98% of precincts reporting, the city Board of Elections said. GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa came in third with a rock-bottom 7.1%.
The Uganda-born Mamdani will be the Big Apple’s first Muslim, first South Asian and first socialist mayor, as well as one of the youngest.
“My friends, we have toppled a political dynasty,” Mamdani said in his 20-minute address.
“I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in his private life but that [will be] the final time I utter his name.”
The state assemblyman’s rise from dark-horse candidate laser-focused on affordability to ascendant mayor-elect came despite concerns over his youth and inexperience and his “Tax the rich” platform that business elites warned would harm the city.
Mamdani, a proud Democratic Socialists of America member, also faced repeated questions over his past anti-police stance and accusations of antisemitism for his fierce, long-running criticism of Israel.
His stunning win capped an explosive campaign that exposed rifts in the Democratic Party and drew widespread attention, including from Trump — who issued an election-eve endorsement of Cuomo and threatened to withhold federal funds from New York City if Mamdani won.
“…AND SO IT BEGINS!” Trump posted on Truth Social during Mamdani’s victory speech.
The election’s high stakes inspired a stunning 2 million New Yorkers to cast ballots — the biggest turnout since 1969, preliminary results show.
Mamdani appeared poised to capture at least 50% of the vote, and the ability to claim a mandate from the majority of New Yorkers.
But Cuomo — the former three-term Democratic governor who spent $12 million on his campaign and was buoyed by $55 million from supportive super PACs — argued that the New Yorkers who didn’t vote for Mamdani shouldn’t be left behind.
“This campaign was the right fight to wage,” he said in his concession speech. “It’s also important to note that almost half of New Yorkers did vote to support a government agenda that makes promises that we know cannot be met.”

The loss dashed Cuomo’s hopes of a political comeback after he resigned the governorship in 2021 amid a sexual harassment scandal. The ex-gov’s supporters started ditching his campaign’s watch party at Manhattan’s Ziegfeld Ballroom before he even took the stage to speak, with those remaining chanting “Shame on Sliwa” — a dig at the Guardian Angels founder’s alleged spoiler status in the race.
Sliwa conceded the race around 9:20 p.m. with tears in his eyes as results showed him not cracking 10% support — and issued a stern warning about socialism.
“Let me warn the new leader, if you try to implement socialism, if you try to render our police weak and impotent, if you forsake the people’s public safety, we’re not only organizing, but we are mobilizing,” he said.

Jewish FDNY commissioner hands in resignation — morning after anti-Israel Zohran Mamdani elected mayor
Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker handed in his resignation Wednesday morning — just one day after Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor, The Post has learned.
Tucker, a proud Jewish philanthropist and businessman, informed Mayor Eric Adams that he would step down from the role he has held for just over 12 months on December 19, according to sources.
The FDNY boss was concerned about Mamdani’s anti-Israel hostility, with a source noting that Tucker’s support of the Jewish state “does not align with the new mayor.”
Tucker will go back to running the private security firm, T&M USA, which he headed before joining Adams’ administration. The New York City-based company is connected to a firm based in Israel.
Tucker didn’t address the reason for his departure in a statement but vowed to ensure a smooth transition.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as the 35th New York City Fire Commissioner,” the commish said.
“Thank you to Mayor Adams for his trust and confidence in doing this job. We empowered the brave men and women who keep our city safe, bringing fire-related deaths to a historic low.
“I will leave this critical role on December 19, 2025. Between now and then, I will continue to lead the greatest fire department in the world and will ensure an orderly transition.”
News of Tucker’s resignation came just as the FDNY boss was set to fly to Israel later Wednesday to meet with a fire commissioner in the Jewish state.
Mamdani has been a longtime vocal critic of Israel — and defiantly stood by his stance on the campaign trail, despite the Big Apple being home to the largest Jewish diaspora outside of Israel.
During one of the mayoral debates, the 34-year-old socialist refused to say Israel had a right to exist as a Jewish state.
He also repeatedly slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and accused the nation of committing a genocide in Gaza following the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack.
Mamdani even vowed to arrest Netanyahu if he set foot in New York City.
The Mayor-elect’s transition team pointed to comments he made during a Wednesday press conference when asked about Tucker’s exit.
“I am willing to consider anyone to work in my City Hall so long as they are committed to working for my administration and to delivering on an agenda to lower costs for New Yorkers in the most expensive city in the United States,” Mamdani told reporters.
Tucker stepped in to lead the department in August 2024, replacing Laura Kavanagh, who endured a tumultuous tenure at the helm.
Adams, for his part, said Tucker has led the FDNY with “courage, passion, and a sincere dedication to public safety.”
“When I appointed Commissioner Tucker to this critical role, I knew he’d have the experience, grit, and zeal to protect our city and support our fearless heroes – the firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics who put their lives on the line for New York every day,” Hizzoner said on Wednesday.
“Under his leadership, we’ve decreased fire-related deaths in our city to the lowest in a decade, modernized the FDNY, and empowered the brave men and women who keep our city safe. We are incredibly grateful for Commissioner Tucker’s service and look forward to seeing what he’ll do next.”
A replacement has not been announced, but city officials said a new FDNY leader will be in place by the time Tucker leaves office.
Tucker, 55, founded T&M in 1999. Before that, he worked as a special assistant for the Queens District Attorney’s Office.
He’s also been involved in various charitable endeavors, including serving as secretary of the FDNY Foundation, and has received honors from the New York Board of Rabbis and Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City.
His Jewish faith was on clear and proud display when his father held a copy of the Tanach – the Hebrew bible – at his swearing-in ceremony, according to the Jewish News Syndicate.
It was the same bible that was reportedly used for his bar mitzvah.
This is disappointing. He should have waited to be fired and thus become a type of martyr.
