Muslim man arrested for terrorism threats after Arena evacuation

The Arena was evacuated on Saturday evening, an individual arrested and the terrorist track is considered [RTS]

A man was arrested after the evacuation of the Arena concert hall on Saturday evening in Geneva, where the French rapper Lomepal was to perform, the Geneva public prosecutor said on Sunday. He had made terrorism threats online.

The 40-year-old individual had been reported by the French authorities. He is the author of a message on a social network that can be understood as "the threat of a terrorist act", said the spokesperson for the Geneva Public Prosecutor's Office Olivier Francey in a brief written communication. According to information from RTS, the man has links with jihadist networks.

This man must be heard on Sunday by the duty prosecutor. He is accused in the state of having uttered threats alarming the population, said Olivier Francey, adding that no other information will be given.

Lomepal concert canceled

Saturday evening, Lomepal had yet sold out, with nearly 8,500 people coming to attend his concert. But the successful rapper will never take the stage. After a first part without a hitch, the public awaits its star... but nothing. For more than an hour, no information. Then the announcement falls: "The concert is cancelled."

Spectators are asked to leave the room quietly. But according to several testimonies, the confusion then spreads to the Arena. Access to changing rooms is particularly difficult. People are rushing to collect their belongings. Finally, some take nearly 30 minutes to leave the room. Outside, they discover a large police force.

Sector cordoned off

Vans, fire trucks, demining brigade: the sector is cordoned off.

"We received information that a threat was targeting the concert. For precautionary reasons, it was decided to evacuate the premises and to carry out a search", had indicated in the night from Saturday to Sunday the spokesperson of the Geneva cantonal police Tiffany Cudré-Mauroux.

For Lomepal fans, more fear than harm. As a consolation, a concert was improvised on the return train.

France: Muslim screaming ‘Allahu Akbar' threatens to murder his neighbors

'Allah Akbar’, death threats: the madman of Grigny placed in police custody

Translated from “« Allah Akbar », menaces de mort : le forcené de Grigny placé en garde à vue,”
Le Progrès, February 25, 2023

After ten hours of “very complicated” negotiation, the special Raid unit finally stormed an apartment, where a man had barricaded himself in. Potentially radicalized, he had threatened his neighbor with death. He was arrested and taken into custody.

The Saturday morning events that took place in Grigny could have gone wrong. Police, firefighters, Raid unit intervention…

At dawn, a large force was deployed at the building at 43 rue Bouteiller to subdue a man who had barricaded himself in his house after making death threats against neighbors….

Pforzheim, Germany: Man pushed under train ready to depart,

by Muslim Migrants

Because of a cigarette

By Kai Rebmann
reitshuster.de

It is a disturbing as well as remarkable report from the Federal Police Inspectorate in Karlsruhe. Disturbing not only because a man was pushed under a “waiting train” at the main station in Pforzheim, but above all because: the 49-year-old had apparently refused to give his two attackers a cigarette.

The press release is remarkable because the first few sentences read: “The injured party was approached by a 33-year-old Algerian and (he) demanded a cigarette. The suspect was accompanied by a 31-year-old man from Tunisia.”

So much plain language is anything but a matter of course for the police. Where else in comparable cases the talk is at most of "suspects with a southern appearance" or, in a completely misleading way, even of a "man from Nuremberg", here horse and rider are mentioned. But not by everyone. While the "Pforzheimer Zeitung" adopted the police report more or less unchanged, the BNN censored it as follows: "A 33-year-old and a 31-year-old man asked the 49-year-old for a cigarette." End of the announcement!

Still with the policy of protecting migrants who are charged with heinous crimes, at the expense of ordinary Germans.

Passers-by can probably prevent worse

According to the police, the two North Africans punched and pushed their victim. "In one of these impacts, the injured person fell between the platform and a waiting train," it said. However, the 49-year-old was able to "return" to the platform on his own, where he was "suddenly" attacked again by the two suspects.

The fact that the injured party, about whose nationality the police did not provide any information, did not end up back on the tracks or under the train is probably due not least to the courageous intervention of bystanders. The police write: "Bystanders tried to separate the opponents, but this was only possible after the arrival of federal police officers."

The Tunisian was apparently still able to flee at first, but was caught shortly thereafter by the state police and handed over to the federal police patrol responsible at the main station. According to the information, both the injured person and one of the two attackers had to be cared for by an emergency service.

The federal police filed a complaint against the two North Africans, among other things on suspicion of “dangerous bodily harm through life-threatening treatment”.

Why the nationality of suspects plays a role after all

For example, while the State Criminal Police Office in Berlin sends its officers to a language course and believes that "discrimination-sensitive communication" can solve the omnipresent problems in the capital (and not only there), their colleagues from the federal police seem to be a little closer to reality. There is a consensus that the nationality of suspects should only be mentioned if there is a direct connection to the alleged crime. But this is exactly the view that the Federal Police Inspectorate in Karlsruhe seems to have taken in the present attack on Pforzheim's main train station.

Why, of course, one can only speculate. But the assumption is that even the officers of the federal police can't remember that such acts in the "best Germany of all times" would have been the order of the day until a few years ago.

And the inhibition threshold of the "suspected perpetrators", as it should be called politically and legally correct, seems to be falling more and more. In the gold city, this time it was a cigarette that almost cost the life of a 49-year-old man.

I was a young boy when it became obvious to me that life in North Africa was very cheap. It seems obvious that migrants have brought this attitude to Europe. Ready to kill for a cigarette. Why are such morons invited into civil society? And then protected from themselves when they do insanely stupid and evil things?

Pakistan: Man kills his 24-year-old son with a hammer and a knife

for not offering namaz despite repeated warnings

24 February, 2023
OpIndia Staff

On Wednesday, February 22, a man named Haji Saeed Ahmed brutally murdered his own son Mohammed Sohail for not offering prayers. The incident took place in Block 11 of the Gulistan-i-Johar area in Karachi, Pakistan.

According to Pakistani media reports, the accused was upset over his children not offering namaz in time even after he had been warning them about the same. Haji claimed that despite repeated warnings, Sohail did not listen.

On Wednesday, Haji Muhammad Saeed returned from fajr prayer, the prayer before sunrise, and found that Sohail was sleeping. Seeing this, an angry and frustrated Haji Saeed hit 24-year-old Mohammed Sohail with a hammer on his head while he was asleep leading to his death.

Soon after this, other people informed the police, and they detained the accused after arriving at the scene. A knife and a hammer were recovered from the crime scene, believed to be used in the murder.

Following this, the dead body of the victim was taken to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre for postmortem. The accused has been arrested and a case against him has been registered at Shahrah-e-Faisal police station. The accused also said that his son was disobedient and used to fight often, another reason of his anger on his son.

According to a local media report,  SH Shahrah-e-Faisal, Ghulam Murtaza said that the deceased Sohail was stabbed to death by his father Saeed Ahmad. On the basis of information from the locals, the police arrived at the scene, detained the accused, and seized the murder weapon.

Both the deceased boy and the arrested father are from Khanpur Katora in South Punjab, and they were staying in a rented room. The victim worked as a tailor, and his father works at a factory.

Ontario Man Charged With Murder for Shooting Home Intruder

Attacking His Mother: Lawyer

February 23, 2023Updated: February 24, 2023

A 22-year-old Ontario man is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing one of five people who entered his home, likely to rob it, say police.

Ali Mian of Milton shot the intruder only once and did not intend to kill, his lawyer told The Epoch Times in an emailed statement.

“[Mian], who lives at home with his single mother, shot at an intruder that broke into his home and attacked his mother,” criminal lawyer Jag Virk said. “He is a registered firearm owner and used his gun legally against an armed intruder. He shouldn’t be charged with murder for protecting his mother.”

The break-in occurred on Feb. 19 at about 5 a.m. on Gibson Crescent.

Police have not identified the deceased. One man was charged with breaking and entering, 20-year-old Romario Clarke of Oshawa. Clarke was also charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Limits of Self-Defence

Two cases in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in recent months also involved the death of alleged home invaders.

Halifax Regional Police said two men were invading a home when the occupant confronted them and fatally stabbed one of them, on Dec. 30, 2022. The deceased’s name is Anthony Robert Herritt.

“Is it considered self-defence? … That term is a difficult thing to consider,” spokesperson Const. John MacLeod told reporters, according to Global News.

“What our investigators need to do is look at the evidence before them, gather up all the information they have and determine whether or not charges would be appropriate. And in this case, at this time, our investigators are not considering any charges.”

The second case occurred on Jan. 4, when a 33-year-old man was fatally shot. The man, along with two others, had invaded a home. One of the three was armed, police said, and when a struggle ensued with the occupants, the gun went off.

According to sections 34 and 35 of the Criminal Code, a person is not guilty of an offence in defending himself and his property, but only under certain conditions.

Those include that the act “is reasonable in the circumstances.” The Code lists eight considerations in determining what is “reasonable.” They include the nature of the threat, to what extend(sic) the threat was imminent, and if other means were available to respond to the threat.

As if in a home invasion situation, you are going to weigh the different response possibilities while your mother is being attacked!!! What madness!

When someone invades another's home, they should surrender all rights, even to life itself. A person whose home is invaded, and whose family is threatened, should not have to worry about the rights of the invader.

At least 60 migrants including a tiny baby dead after overloaded boat

AT least 60 migrants including a baby have died after their crowded wooden boat broke apart in a storm off the coast of Italy.

The overloaded vessel was destroyed as it crashed into rocky reefs on Sunday, with children among the victims.

At least 60 bodies have so far been recovered along the shore, according to local media. Among those who drowned was a baby who was just a few months old, Italian news agency AGI reports.

Some 81 survivors have been pulled from the water, with 22 rushed to hospital.

Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni said that the migrants were crowded into a 66ft long boat in adverse weather conditions.

The Mediterranean can be quite deadly in the winter months.

It is understood the boat left from Izmir, Turkey, three or four days ago with around 50 migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia on board.

Coast guard officials said the boat hit rocks "a few metres from the shore".

A chunk of the boat, along with piles of splintered wood, littered the beach at Steccato di Cutro, part of Calabria's coastline along the Ionian sea.

Some of the survivors tried to keep warm, wrapped in what appeared to be colorful blankets or sheets.

A helicopter and motorboats were deployed in search efforts, including vessels from state firefighters and border police.

A Coast Guard motorboat rescued two men suffering from hypothermia and recovered the body of a boy in the rough seas, it said in a statement.

Firefighter boats, including rescue divers, recovered 28 bodies, including three pulled by a strong current far away from the wreckage.

Meloni said: "It's inhumane to exchange the lives of men, women and children for the price of a ticket paid by them in the false prospect of a safe voyage."

I agree. The traffickers should spend the rest of their lives in a Turkish prison. Tunisia has vowed to stop the flow of migrants coming from sub-Saharan Africa through that country - many of whom end up in slavery. But other countries where migrants are departing for Europe need to do much more. The problem is there doesn't seem to be the will to stop it.

Pope Francis said he was praying for everyone caught up in the incident.

He said in his weekly address to crowds in St. Peter's Square: "I  heard with sorrow of the shipwreck off the Calabrian coast near Crotone.

"Already 40 dead have been recovered, many of them children.

"I pray for every one of them, for the missing and for the other surviving migrant."

Hungarian archbishop: ‘Muslims are being called in to get

Christ and Christianity out of Europe’

FEB 24, 2023 11:00 AM
BY ROBERT SPENCER
Jihad Watch

It has been nearly two months since the report below was published, and it refers to an interview from a month before that. Yet there is no record, or no public record anyway, of Pope Francis, who has been an energetic advocate for both Islam and for mass Muslim migration into Europe, calling Archbishop Emeritus Gyula Márfi on the carpet for his remarks about Islam and mass migration. This is likely because of the “Emeritus” designation; Gyula Márfi is retired, and so the woke pope need not trouble himself about this meddlesome priest.

Of course, he knew mainstream media would not cover this story anyway, it is much too close to the truth.

Possibly the most intelligent man in Catholicism, AB Emeritus Gyula Marfi

“Hungarian archbishop blasts Freemasonry, LGBT ideology,

rising Islam in Europe,”

by Raymond Wolfe,
LifeSite News, January 9, 2023

VESZPRÉM, Hungary (LifeSiteNews)A Hungarian prelate recently sounded off against the rise of LGBT ideology, Islam, and anti-Christian sentiment in Europe and the influence of Freemasonry over leaders of the European Union.

Read, In God's Name - David Yallop, to find out more about Freemasonry and its influence on the Catholic Church.

In an interview last month with conservative Hungarian newspaper Magyar Jelen, Archbishop Emeritus Gyula Márfi of Veszprém warned of a multi-pronged assault against European Christianity from left-wing forces within the E.U.

“One of the most striking signs of the European Union’s anti-Christianity,” he said, “is that its constitution did not commemorate Europe’s Christian roots,” a point similarly emphasized by Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI….

He recalled how the city of Brussels, the capital of the E.U., declined to put up a Christmas tree in 2012 for fear of offending its Muslim population….

The retired archbishop also pointed to the mass migration of Muslims as a chief means of weakening Europe’s Christian culture.

“In my opinion, Muslims are also being called in to get Christ and Christianity out of Europe,” he told Magyar Jelen.

“Today, Freemasons and Muslims are coming together to make Christianity disappear from Europe,” he observed. “It was practically the same as it was in the age of the Savior, when the Scribes and Pharisees worked with their deadly enemy, Pontius Pilate, to get Jesus out of the way.”

“In a multicultural, mixed society,” he continued, “the individual loses his identity, sense of identity, culture, faith, language, practically everything,” making people easier to manipulate for powerful corporations “who want to turn the whole Earth into a huge collective farm, where there are no ethnic, national and religious identities, only obedient workers and consumers manufactured according to standards.”

But European liberals “will ultimately ruin themselves” by embracing large-scale Muslim migration, he said, as “Islam will never accept their liberal principles.

Archbishop Márfi has long been an outspoken critic of left-wing immigration policies, putting him at odds with Pope Francis, who has made embracing unfettered migration a central theme of his pontificate.

“The Holy Father asked every parish to accept a refugee Syrian family. Well, many parishes cannot sustain themselves without outside help,” the Hungarian prelate remarked in 2015.

“The leaders of the Muslim masses can clearly see that the situation is ripe to occupy the apostate continent,” he starkly warned at the time.

In his interview with Magyar Jelen, Archbishop Márfi alluded to Muslims’ long history of violence and terrorism against Christian Europe, and particularly Hungary, which suffered widespread devastation at the hands of the Turks during the Ottoman wars.

“They have been here in Hungary for 150 years, we know how much destruction they have caused,” he said of Muslims. “We Hungarians still carry the memory of this in our genes to some extent.”

Covid_19 > US Dept. of Energy Blames Covid Pandemic on Leak from Wuhan Lab

Chinese lab leak likely behind COVID outbreak: US Energy Department

By Bruce Golding, NYPost
February 26, 2023 12:17pm  Updated

The virus that causes COVID-19 most likely leaked from a Chinese laboratory, according to a classified report based on new intelligence and recently sent to the White House and key members of Congress.

The stunning assertion by the US Energy Department comes more than a year after the FBI concluded a lab accident in China was the origin of the disease, which has killed more than 6.8 million people around the world, including 1.1 million in the US.

The FBI’s decision was made with “moderate confidence” and remains the bureau’s opinion, said The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the Energy Department’s own finding on Sunday.

By contrast, the Department of Energy made its determination with “low confidence,” sources who’ve read the classified report told the Journal.

A research group sent bodily samples from bats to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to search for the coronavirus.
ECOHEALTH ALLIANCE

But the judgment is considered important because the Energy Department — which oversees the American nuclear weapons program — runs a network of national labs and has a great deal of scientific expertise, the Journal said.

Both agencies reportedly arrived at their conclusions for different reasons, with the sources declining to detail the new intelligence cited by the Energy Department.

In response to the Journal’s report, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said, “There is a variety of views in the intelligence community” and that the origin of COVID-19 remained under investigation.

“Here’s what I can tell you: President Biden has directed, repeatedly, every element of our intelligence community to put effort and resources behind getting to the bottom of this question,” Sullivan told CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“And if we gain any further insight or information, we will share it with Congress, and we will share it with the American people. But right now, there is not a definitive answer that has emerged from the intelligence community on this question.”

The Energy Department’s assessment came in an update to a 2021 document from Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines’ office, the Journal said.

It reportedly reaffirmed a consensus in the intelligence community that the emergence of COVID-19 wasn’t the result of a Chinese biological weapons program.

The update was prepared in light of new intelligence, additional study of academic literature and consultation with outside experts, a senior intelligence official told the Journal.

The update is reportedly less than five pages long, and it’s unclear whether an unclassified version will be made public.

The National Intelligence Council and four unidentified agencies still believe with “low confidence” that the virus first spread to humans as the result of natural transmission from an infected animal, according to the Journal.

Right! It just happened that the extraordinary transmission from bat to human happened just down the street from Wuhan labs (of all the places in the world...), where they were deliberately trying to find a way to make the virus jump from bats to humans. This is called "gain of function" in biolabs. Its purpose is to create new viruses so they can create vaccines for those viruses. If that's not insane enough for you, the other possibility is that its purpose might be to reduce the population of the world.

The Central Intelligence Agency and another unidentified agency reportedly remain undecided on the lab leak and natural transmission theories.

Last year, Senate Republicans released an interim report that found the virus most likely leaked out of a Chinese lab and that ”the hypothesis of a natural zoonotic origin no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt or the presumption of accuracy.”

On Sunday, US Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) told NBC’s “Meet The Press” that Congress needs to hold “public hearings on this and really dig into it.”A lot of evidence that [COVID came] from the Chinese, and when other countries even raise it, like Australia, the Chinese use their coercive economic activities to shut people up,” he said.

“Look, this is a country that has no problem coming out and lying to the world. We just saw that with this Chinese spy balloon,” Sullivan said, referring to the orb that drifted over parts of the US before famously being shot down by the US military earlier this month. It’s the nature of a Communist dictatorship to lie to their own people, to lie to the world,” the pol said.

“I think that we need to make sure every country knows that and then look at what the consequences could be,” he said. “Obviously millions of deaths, huge economic impacts, and it would once again show that the Chinese Communist Party is not only a menace, but the nature of these regimes is to lie to the world. And we need to make that clear to people.”

Stanford University microbiologist David Relman, who’s served on several federal advisory boards, told the Journal he is glad US officials “were willing to set aside their preconceptions and objectively re-examine what we know and don’t know about COVID origins.

“My plea is that we not accept an incomplete answer or give up because of political expediency,” he said.

The Energy Department declined to discuss details of its assessment but said in a statement that it “continues to support the thorough, careful, and objective work of our intelligence professionals in investigating the origins of COVID-19, as the President directed.”

Biden ordered US spy agencies to probe the source of the disease — including whether it came from a Chinese lab in Wuhan– in May 2021, more than a year after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology has been at the center of suspicion since US intelligence learned that three researchers there fell ill and had to be hospitalized in November 2019, shortly before China confirmed the COVID-19 outbreak.

Now, I have done dozens of reports on the pandemic and this is the first time I have heard of 3 researchers being hospitalized in Nov 2019. Why is that? I have heard that at least one researcher has disappeared from the lab and that there may have been an emergency shutdown of the lab in 2019:

Some former US officials previously told the Journal that the workers were involved in coronavirus research.

On Aug. 1, Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) asked FBI Director Christopher Wray to share records of its investigation but the bureau declined to comply in November, citing a Justice Department policy on preserving “the integrity of ongoing investigations.”

Integrity! Right!

Military Madness > Even Canada's Far-Left Green Party can see the Madness in Giving Ukraine Offensive Weapons

..

I am thoroughly embarrassed here to be in agreement with the Green Party, but the co-leader of the Canadian Green Party makes more sense in this one aspect than any other party leader. Sheesh! I actually wrote that!

Greens question decision to send more 'offensive' weapons to Ukraine

The Green Party says Canada should consider restricting the types of weapons it sends to Ukraine and should press for a negotiated peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Both positions make the party an outlier on the Canadian political landscape. One Ukrainian-Canadian group called them "a moral obscenity."

In an interview with CBC Radio's The House, Green Party co-leader Jonathan Pedneault described Russia's war on Ukraine as illegal and said he has supported the Canadian government's previous decisions to send weapons to Ukrainian forces.

But as the conflict passes the one year mark, he said, he worries about where the tanks and aircraft donated by allies could ultimately end up.

Politicians in Canada have generally been united in support of Canada’s efforts to send aid and military weapons to Ukraine, but the Green Party is now also pushing for peace talks with Russia. Green Party co-leader Jonathan Pedneault discusses whether his party’s stance is prudent or practical and why he believes it may be time to stop sending some weapons to Ukraine.

"I am questioning the whole question of supplying weapons in active conflict areas such as this one, weapons that can be used for offensive purposes," he said.

Pedneault described being in Ukraine during the first 10 days of the conflict as part of his previous job documenting human rights violations for Human Rights Watch.

"One thing that I know, having spent 14 years working in conflict areas, is that an aggrieved party — for all the good reasons and human reasons — will most likely and often try and seek revenge," he said.

"Do we have any assurances that war will stop at the border of Russia once territory is reclaimed?"

Pedneault pointed to Afghanistan and Iraq as examples of places where western military aid was eventually "scattered around" to groups hostile to human rights.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress condemned the party's position.

"It is a moral obscenity to argue that people who are the victims of an unprovoked assault should not be given the means with which to defend themselves," said UCC senior policy adviser Orest Zalydalsky in an email to CBC News.

"To argue against the provision of weapons to Ukraine is to argue that Russia should be allowed to annihilate the Ukrainian people."

It's unfortunate that Catherine Cullen, a very decent reporter, either missed this or allowed it to be spoken regardless of the fact that the Ukrainian advisor is talking about defensive weapons when Pedneault is clearly talking about offensive weapons.

Defence Minister Anita Anand's office did not respond to a question about whether Canada has placed conditions on the future use of weapons sent to Ukraine.

"We continue to move in lockstep together with our allies in order to provide Ukraine with the military equipment that it needs to win. Ukraine has proven that they are effective at using what we send," she said in an interview last week with The House.

If only the powers that be were smart enough to realize that Ukraine cannot win. Perhaps some are but the point is not for Ukraine to win, but for Russia to lose, and, in the meantime, NATO countries spend kazillions of dollars on weapons and weapons systems. That's the real point of modern warfare - moving the inventory of war. Ukraine will not emerge from this war with anything resembling a 21st-century economy. Their infrastructures will be obliterated and they are likely to return to a 19th-century way of life. Everyone loses in war except those who make money from it.

On Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would be sending Ukraine four additional Leopard 2 tanks, an armoured recovery vehicle and 5,000 rounds of ammunition.

"Canada ... will continue to stand with Ukraine with whatever it takes for as long as it takes," he said.

Right - we don't care how badly Ukraine is pulverized as long as it looks good politically!

Greens push for peace talks

The Green Party argues Canada should be doing more to encourage peace talks.

"It's not clear to me that military victory is at all possible," Pedneault said. "So then what are we left with? To engage in diplomatic efforts."

Pedneault cited Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley's comment that the conflict isn't likely to end on the battlefield.

Earlier this month, Gen. Milley told the Financial Times that it was "almost impossible' for Russia to overrun Ukraine but that it was also "very, very difficult for Ukraine this year to kick the Russians out of every inch of Russian-occupied Ukraine."

China put forward what it called a 12-point peace plan this week. The proposal was criticized by some, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who questioned China's credibility given its refusal to denounce Russia's invasion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed some openness to China's "thoughts" on Friday, saying he considered the plan a good signal and was open to meeting with President Xi Jinping.

Zelenskyy also stated again that any peace plan would have to include a full Russian troop withdrawal.

That, of course, is not a Peace Plan but a complete surrender. But, at least it's a starting point.

In an interview airing Sunday, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly told Rosemary Barton Live that helping Ukraine defend itself puts it in a better position for any peace talks.

"It's really Russia invading Ukraine and not vice versa. So that is why arming Ukraine is important," said Joly. Because everything that is going on, on the battlefield will have an impact afterwards at the negotiation table."

Pedneault said it will be up to Ukraine and Russia to decide if there are peace talks, but suggested Canada's influence with Ukraine could help to bring them to the table.

Pedneault said he is not advocating that Ukraine cede territory to Russia but is calling for a space where the two sides in the conflict could discuss the conditions for peace.

"I am not saying that we should kowtow to any bully here, but it is important to take into consideration the fact, once again, that they do have nuclear weapons and that should force us to explore all possible options," he said.

Sweden: Afghan Muslim migrant slits woman’s throat, has sentence reduced

FEB 23, 2023 4:00 PM
BY ROBERT SPENCER
Jihad Watch

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks…” (Qur’an 47:4)

The sentence was reduced by only one year, which is curious. Even after the reduction, the Court of Appeal referred to Seyed Alavi’s “relatively long prison sentence.” If they think the poor dear will languish in prison for too long, why not reduce it more? And why give him a prison sentence at all, when he is set to be deported after it? Why not deport him now, rather than force Swedish taxpayers to pay for his upkeep for fifteen years?

Seyed Alavi, 23, stabbed a woman in the throat – sentenced

translated from “Seyed Alavi, 23, högg kvinna i halsen – döms,”
by Alexander Vickhoff, Expressen, February 20, 2023:

Seyed Alavi, 23, attacked and stabbed a woman in a hotel room in Malmö.

She was left badly injured and it was only by chance that she was discovered on the roof of the hotel.

Now the Court of Appeal has lowered Seyed Alavi’s sentence to 15 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Seyed Alavi had arranged to meet the woman at a hotel to buy sex. The woman, who is in her 30s and from Russia, has said that immediately when Seyed Alavi stepped into the room, a fight broke out that ended with Seyed Alavi cutting the woman several times with a knife in the neck and upper body.

The woman was able to get out of the room and onto a roof, where she was discovered by people in the house next door. She survived thanks to the emergency life-saving measures she received on the hotel roof.

“I remember how much it hurt. I remember that it was chilly outside and that my gushing blood warmed me. I wanted to die as soon as possible so I wouldn’t have to suffer. I was lying on the roof, the sun was shining and I thought that these were my last minutes in life,” the woman previously told Kvällsposten/expressen.

Seyed Alavi was filmed by the hotel’s surveillance cameras both when he was on his way to the hotel room and when he left it. He was able to be arrested by police a few weeks after the crime after being traced through his registration on the site for sex purchases, various phone contacts and purchases by debit card.

Chamber prosecutor Helena Lundström has called the police work that led to Alavi’s arrest “fantastic police work.”

In early December, Seyed Alavi was sentenced to 16 years in prison. The district court also decided that he should pay SEK 520,320 [$50,263] in damages to the woman and that he should be deported from Sweden.

The case has now been decided in the Court of Appeal. According to the judgment of this higher instance, Alavi’s prison sentence is reduced to 15 years.

“The relatively long prison sentence is due to the special recklessness shown by the convicted man by surprisingly and brutally attacking the woman with a knife. He then left her alone in a locked hotel room bleeding profusely from the neck and abdomen,” says Court of Appeal counsel Anna Tansjö in a press release.

The Court of Appeal also lowered the woman’s damages to SEK 370,320 [$35,772] as they consider that the amendment to the law that increases damages to victims of crime had not come into effect when the act was committed.

“We are, of course, not satisfied with the Court of Appeal’s decision; this applies both to the issue of damages and the length of the prison sentence,” says the woman’s counsel for the plaintiff, lawyer Jenny Fugleberg.

Swedish justice, like Canadian justice, is completely criminal-centric.

Nearly 70 troops killed in two jihadist attacks in troubled Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou (AFP)Suspected jihadists killed at least 15 soldiers in troubled northern Burkina Faso, just three days after an ambush that claimed the lives of 51 troops, security sources said Tuesday.

A unit in Tin-Akoff in Oudalan province near the border with Mali "came under violent attack" on Monday evening, a source said, giving a toll of "about 15 dead" with others still missing.

The army mounted a counter-attack with air support, "neutralising... dozens of terrorists," the source added.

A second source in the security forces confirmed the assault and put the toll at 19 soldiers dead and "dozens of missing."

The bloodshed came as the Sahel nation reeled from a deadly ambush last Friday near Deou, also in Oudalan province.

Fifty-one soldiers died and 160 jihadists were killed in that action and the aftermath, according to army figures.

Jihadist insurgents in Mali began launching cross-border incursions on the landlocked Sahel state more than seven years ago. Since then, more than 10,000 civilians, police and troops have died, according to NGO estimates, and more than two million people have fled their homes.

Around 40 percent of the nation's territory lies outside the government's control.

Anger within the military at failures to turn the tide sparked two coups last year.

Hours before news broke of the latest attack, political parties and civil groups displayed their support for the ruling junta.

"In these difficult times, I urge the Burkinabe people to cultivate a spirit of national unity and support the transitional authorities in their resolve to restore our territorial integrity," said Zephirin Diabre of the Union for Progress and Change (UPC).

Junta leader Captain Ibrahim Traore acknowledged the fight against jihadism was "strewn with pitfalls" but said the authorities remained "determined" to triumph.

Friday's attack was the deadliest among the security forces since Traore, 34, took power in late September, vowing to recover territory captured by the jihadists.

But attacks have escalated sharply in recent weeks -- since the start of the year, more than 200 people have died, according to an AFP toll.

Political commentator Harouna Traore asked why the armed forces seemed to be so vulnerable. "Why are patrols being carried out without aerial surveillance? Today, we have drones, reconnaissance aircraft, which should mean we no longer run into ambushes," he said.

Burkina Faso's junta, like its counterpart in Mali, has fallen out with France, the country's traditional ally. France is pulling out its troops -- a special forces unit of around 400 men based near the capital Ouagadougou.

Ten Civilians Killed In Jihadist Attack In Mogadishu

Al-Shabaab fighters attacked a house in Somalia's capital Mogadishu on Tuesday, killing ten civilians, the government said.

The raid took place around 1200 GMT in the northern district of Abdiaziz, the government said, adding that three civilians had been wounded.

"The security forces rescued and extracted many other civilians from that house and other nearby buildings during the attack," it said.

The attack was claimed by the Al-Shabaab, which is linked to Al-Qaeda.

The link? - One is as insane as the other.

A soldier named Mohamed Ali, who was present at the scene, said the attackers "stormed the building after blasting the main gate with explosives".

He said they "resorted to attacking the houses occupied by civilians after they are being defeated in the frontlines".

In recent months, the Somali army and local clan militias have retaken chunks of territory from the militants in an operation backed by US air strikes and an African Union force known as ATMIS.

But Al-Shabaab, which has been fighting the government since 2007, still control parts of the countryside from where they have carried out numerous retaliatory attacks both in Somalia and in neighbouring countries.

The jihadists, who were forced out of the capital by African Union troops in 2011, have frequently retaliated against the latest offensive with bloody strikes.

In the deadliest Al-Shabaab attack since the offensive was launched last year, 121 people were killed in two car bomb explosions at the education ministry in Mogadishu in October.

Cardinal Opens Francis’ Abu Dhabi Interfaith Shrine

by Jules Gomes,
ChurchMilitant.com,
February 22, 2023:

SAADIYAT ISLAND, Abu Dhabi (ChurchMilitant.com) Cardinal Michael Fitzgerald hosted the first Catholic service at the Abrahamic Family House — an interfaith shrine born of Pope Francis’ Abu Dhabi concordat with Sunni leader Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb.

Speaking on behalf of Pope Francis at the inauguration of St. Francis of Assisi Church — the Catholic section of the complex housing a mosque and synagogue — Fitzgerald said the shrine could be said to fulfill Isaiah’s vision of “a house of prayer for all the peoples.

“Worship opens us up to others, instilling in us a care for justice, encouraging us to act with integrity,” the cardinal emphasized on Sunday. “We cannot truly pray to God without remembering the other members of the Abrahamic family, and indeed of the human family.”

Islam is not an Abrahamic-based religion. Islam was born from the mind of Mohammed in the 7th century AD. Yet, they claim heritage going back to Ishmael, the illegitimate son of Abraham, born of the flesh, and rejected later by Abraham, and God Himself.

(Genesis 22:2 "Take your son," God said, "your only son Isaac...)

“The father of the prophet John the Baptist (known to Muslims as Yahya) asks God to bless his son,” Fitzgerald said. “He is asking this of the God of Abraham, the Merciful Lord of Mercy, al-Rahman al-Rahim.”

The cardinal, a former president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, told the congregation that Muslims had earlier prayed the Maghrib prayer in the mosque section of the shrine on Thursday evening.

Muslim Prayer Anathematizes Christians

“Remarkably, Cdl. Fitzgerald, an acclaimed Islamic scholar, ignored the fact that the Maghrib prayer contains Surah Al-Fatiha, which is one of the most anti-Christian and anti-Jewish texts in the Qur’an,” a Muslim jurist who converted to Christianity told Church Militant.

“The inclusion of this prayer, which is considered indispensable in Muslim worship, tells us everything we need to know about how serious Muslims are about interfaith dialogue,” the convert, who faces the death penalty for apostasy from Islam, added.

After asking Allah to guide Muslims “to the straight path,” verse 7 defines this way as the “path of those whom you have favored, not of those who have earned your anger, or of those who have gone astray,” the convert explained.

Islamic tradition and commentaries from the Hadith of Sahih Bukhari to Tafsir al-Jalalayn identify “those who have earned Allah’s anger” as the Jews and “those who have gone astray” as the Christians.

“The repetition of this identification in Bukhari is an indication of how strong the identification is of those who have earned Allah’s anger with the Jews and those who have gone astray with the Christians,” writes Robert Spencer in his bestseller The Critical Qur’an.

Some Western commentators find it inconceivable that the central prayer of Islam “anathematizes Jews and Christians,” the renowned Islamic scholar notes. “But unfortunately, this interpretation is venerable and mainstream in Islamic theology.”

“The Abrahamic Family House has not led and will not lead Muslims to abandon core Islamic doctrines regarding how Christians wrongly proclaim Christ’s divinity and are under the curse of Allah as a result (cf. Qur’an 9:30; 5:17),” Spencer told Church Militant.

Spencer, author of 23 books on Islam and the Middle East elaborated, “As in all other cases, Muslim/Christian dialogue is seen on the Muslim side as an opportunity to proselytize for Islam and intimidate Christians into fearing to discuss the rampant Muslim persecution of Christians, for fear of harming the dialogue.”

“The interfaith shrine is Pope Francis’ house of cards,” Spencer warned. “It will result in nothing lasting except the continued ignorance and complacency of Catholics regarding the threat of Islamic jihad. Liberal Catholics who think this is a positive step are being naive (at best).”…

EU grapples with Islamic schools, including children’s exam questions

about killing homosexuals

The EU has been playing with fire for a long time as its leaders choose to be cowed by the “Islamophobia” subterfuge. Now comes news about children being taught violence and murder of gays in the name of Islam.

Islamic schools that teach Muslim children values which conflict with those of Western societies and otherwise universal understandings of human rights have no place in the West. The only chance to stop the spread of such teachings is to diligently monitor Islamic schools and mosques. However, Western leaders have proven their inability to handle charges of “Islamophobia,” no matter how harmful Sharia is to human rights and freedoms.

Human rights does not mean the trampling of rights for another. Western societies already have a formula firmly in place to protect the rights of all people, but refuse to act upon it amid inane arguments from special interest groups (backed by Leftists).

Western societies protect the rights of all; this is enshrined in their constitutions and criminal codes. It is glaring how these provisions are warped and manipulated so that they come to be applied to one side only, that of the enemies of free and well-ordered societies.

Europe Grapples with Independent Koran Schools Radicalizing Students

by Abigail R. Esman, Algemeiner,
February 20, 2023:

The exam is multiple choice, with questions about the treatment of enemies — homosexuals, for instance, and unbelievers. How should they be punished, the children are asked: with lashings? Stoning? Killed by the sword?

This is not in the Islamic State, or Taliban-run Afghanistan. It is an exam that has been given for years at some of the Netherlands’ weekend Koran schools, and Education Minister Dennis Wiersma wants it stopped. In November, he proposed a new law that would allow government oversight of these schools.

The exam came to light during a 2019 investigation by newspaper NRC Handelsblad and television news show “Nieuwsuur,” which found that at least half of the country’s independent Koran schools were being run by Salafists, who were actively indoctrinating the students. Salafists generally reject all aspects of modern, Western life, including secularism and secular political states. ISIS is an example of a Salafist group.

ISIS is an example of people living under Sharia, as Salafists do, but the murderous ISIS practices jihad the old-fashioned way, whereas modern Salafists practice jihad by building mosques and Islamic schools all over the world, and teaching Sharia to Muslim children, thereby turning the peace-loving immigrants into jihadists. A few years ago, a study showed that 2nd generation Muslim migrants in Britain were more devout than their parents. Here we see why.

According to the investigation, teachers at these schools have praised sharia-based legal systems, warned children to stay away from “enemies” (gays and non-Muslims), and reject Western (and therefore, Dutch) culture completely. “You can better congratulate someone for a murder than wish them a Merry Christmas,” one imam was recorded telling his students.

More recently, Muslim primary schools have also come under fire, not only for spreading radical Islamist ideas and anti-Jewish rhetoric, but for failing to meet standard education requirements and banning such things as music, dance, and art.

Yet despite all this, Wiersma’s colleagues have shown reluctance to approve his proposed bill. More research and debate would be needed, they say, not just into the Islamist threat being posed, but into the proposal’s feasibility. Is such a law even democratic, or does it allow the government to determine how parents raise their children, a possible violation of free speech?

The problem of radicalization in Koran schools and in Islamic day schools is hardly limited to the Netherlands. Officials in Sweden, France, Belgium, Austria, the UK, and elsewhere face similar situations, all of which threaten to shape the culture and ideologies of an entire new generation of Europe’s Muslims.

Yet while Dutch officials hesitate, Sweden is taking more aggressive action. Since 2019, authorities have forced the closure of 17 Muslim day schools, citing concerns over Muslim Brotherhood leadership and efforts to radicalize the students. What’s more, education officials claim, most of the schools fail to meet legal education standards or have simply been mismanaged. And because private religious day schools are funded by the government, the Swedish Schools Inspectorate maintains that it has the right to shut those institutions down.

France also has been taking more aggressive action, closing Islamic schools throughout the country, including two declared “illegal” in Montpellier, last November. And last June, in Birmingham, England, the British education office Ofsted found that boys and girls at the Redstone Education Academy were being segregated in classrooms. Moreover, Ofsted discovered, the school’s director, Waheed Alam (aka Abu Khadeejah), had published articles that aimed “to restrict the activities of women” and promoted the idea of male guardianship. Accusing him of radicalizing his students, Ofsted forced Alam from office, declaring that he “has produced a number of online sermons and articles between 2015 and 2019 which fail to show tolerance of, and respect for, the rights of others, and/or undermining fundamental British values.”

But even as early as 2016, officials expressed concern about these “unregistered” schools. And Ofsted warned of the threat in 2019, finding that up to 6,000 children were being educated in such “unregistered settings,” and that 21 percent of those settings were “places of religious instruction,” according to the Spectator. “Unregistered religious schools which are not subject to formal oversight over matters of safeguarding and rooted in segregated communities, play their part in the fostering of ‘parallel societies’ which threaten to tear apart the nation’s social fabric,” the Spectator reported.

This is precisely the problem confronting Belgium. More than half of all public school students in Brussels and in Antwerp are enrolled in religious Muslim schools, with as many as 81 percent in the Antwerp region of Borgerhout. For Filip de Winter, a leader of the far-right Flemish Vlaams Belang party, such numbers foreshadow exactly the kind of schism described by the Spectator as Muslim youth become less assimilated.

Others agree. During a parliamentary debate last June about the possible licensing of yet another such school, Plura C, Flemish Education Minister Ben Weyts noted, “I can see no way in which such a school can contribute to integration and a harmonious society … We do the children and parents no service [by permitting] them.”

Indeed, earlier investigations into Plura C had already concluded that the school, which is affiliated with Turkish Islamist organization Milli Gorus, “would become an extremist vector in the Limburg educational environment, in accordance with the supporting ideology that goes against the principles of human rights and other foundations of the rule of law.”

Nonetheless, as in Holland, such arguments have come against strong resistance. “You can’t be just a little bit for freedom of education,” one minister argued. Others pointed to the questionable morality of closing or banning such schools that meet the legal educational and administrative requirements. Consequently, despite the school’s potential to become an “extremist vector” in the region, the Belgian government seems unlikely to do much to stop it.

To be sure, some of the objections being made — in Belgium, in the Netherlands, and elsewhere — have merit. But they point to the dilemma that such extremism forces us to confront in every instance: that sometimes one of the greatest threats to democracy can be democracy itself.
