Popular Christian Author Is Downright Baffled By Evangelical Support For Trump

Philip Yancey wants to know: How can evangelicals support someone who “stands against everything that Christianity believes”?

Award-winning Christian author Philip Yancey is dumbfounded by the way that many members of his faith have rallied around Donald Trump.

Yancey expressed his doubts about the Republican presidential candidate and his Christian supporters during an interview with website Evangelical Focus.

“I am staggered that so many conservative or evangelical Christians would see a man who is a bully, who made his money by casinos, who has had several wives and several affairs, that they would somehow paint him as a hero, as someone that we could stand behind,” Yancey said.

“To choose a person who stands against everything that Christianity believes as the hero, the representative, one that we get behind enthusiastically is not something that I understand at all,” he added.

It's really not that difficult, Philip. American Christians, and many Canadian Christians too, believe what they hear on Fox TV. Fox TV, and the Republican Party have demonized Democrats to the degree that even Donald Trump looks good. This hyper-polarization of the political scene in the USA is completely undermining democracy and will destroy the country in very short order.

The day will soon come when the Whitehouse will either dissolve Congress and the Senate, or completely ignore them. If the Democrats are in power when it happens, 'patriots' will take up arms and there will be bloodshed like we haven't seen since Lincoln. If the Republicans are in power, there will be bloodshed like we haven't seen since Lincoln - not as in a civil war, but as in ethnic cleansing. And, they will do it in the Name of God, which will lower Christianity to the level of Islam.

In either event, America is finished.

To choose a person who stands against everything that Christianity believes as the hero ... is not something that I understand at all.
Philip Yancey

Yancey, a respected author and columnist whose books about Christianity have sold millions of copies, is just the latest evangelical heavyweight to speak out against Trump. A number of high profile evangelical Christians have parked themselves in the “Never Trump” camp, pointing out that the candidate’s policies and actions don’t reflect Christian values.

And yet, rank and file white evangelical Christians don’t seem to mind ― or at least, are willing to forgive. The group, which counts for one-fifth of all registered voters in the U.S. and roughly one-third of all voters with Republican leanings, has been rallying strongly around Trump. According to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in June, 78 percent of white evangelical voters said they would vote for Trump.

In private meetings with evangelical pastors supportive of his campaign, the nominee promised to cherish and defend America’s “Christian heritage,” which has struck a chord with Christians who feel that they are losing the culture wars.

But Yancey believes that tying the church and politics together in this way isn’t good for American Christianity in the long run.

“There are countries in Europe where the church is set back for decades and decades, because they have been stained by how they sold their soul for power, I would say.”

Decades? More like centuries. But Yancey's point is that Christians in America are becoming more and more indistinguishable from the rest of society. As I have been writing for some time, we have become consumed by politics. We call ourselves Christians, yet Christ never had anything to do with politics, nor did any of His disciples, and neither should we. We should be completely consumed with spiritual matters, but in reality, we are not spiritual at all.

The American evangelical church is currently in a state of apostasy!

So why do we think that God will restore the USA to it's former glory? That was always the message of the false prophets of the Old Testament.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

Trump has not pledged to ban all Muslims, he pledged to ban them until they could be properly vetted. Considering what is happening in Europe, it would be idiotic to do otherwise.

‘His Majesty’: Student Royally Subverts Michigan University's Gender-Sensitive Policy

Personal smackdown of politically correct stupidity

The American War of Independence was fought over the overreach of monarchical power, but that hasn’t stopped a University of Michigan student from adopting the moniker “His Majesty” to defy a school policy that lets student chose their own personal pronoun.

The student’s revolt came after University of Michigan Ann Arbor administrators sent a campus-wide policy change on email to foster inclusiveness. Under the new policy, students could designate their own pronoun, such as “he, she, him, his, ze,” which would be reflected on the school rosters that are accessed through the computer program, Wolverine Access.

The policy obliges professors to call students by their personally designated pronoun, even if it has no basis in their biological sex.

“If you make a mistake or use the wrong pronoun, you can acknowledge that you made a mistake, and use the correct pronounce next time,” said the email.

Students also can expect fines if they don’t use the pronoun of choice.

Taking the lead, Grant Strobl responded to the email by issuing his own edict: “So, I henceforth shall be referred to as: His Majesty, Grant Strobl. I encourage all U-M students to go onto Wolverine Access, and insert the identity of their dreams.”

When asked about his subversion of the campus-wide policy, Strobl told The College Fix, “I have no problem with students asking to be identified a certain way, almost like someone named Richard who would like to be called Dick. It is respectful to make a reasonable effort to refer to students in the way that they prefer.”

But Strobl said he did have a problem when the university institutionalized the use of pronouns that were completely arbitrary and may lead to possible sanctions against people.

Good for you, His Majesty Grant Strobl, you have mocked a policy that totally deserves the scorn. Deciding what gender you are by how you feel that day is just absurd. It's amazing to me that the leadership of a prestigious university can't see the spectacular stupidity of such a policy; they deserve to have 10,000 personal pronouns running around campus.

It works well with the motto on my Twitter page:

Anyone who isn't confused these days, just isn't thinking straight
Simon Weil

The college newspaper suggested students take to social media to file their new pronouns, under the hashtag #UMPronounChallenge.

Adi tweeted "I hereby declare my pronouns to be the following:
Men shall address me as "my lord"
Women shall address me as "daddy"

There were lots of ‘Overlord’ and an ‘Illustrious Potentate’.

What? No Grand Poopah?

UN Fails to Launch Independent Probe into Yemen War Crimes

Or, why the UN is rapidly making itself
obsolete and redundant

Abduljabbar Zeyad / Reuters

An EU-backed resolution demanding an independent inquiry into human rights violations during the Yemeni war has been withdrawn at the UN Human Rights Council. Instead, to activists’ discontent, a weakened “reasonable compromise” text has been adopted.

A “strong” resolution submitted by Slovenia and backed by 21 other EU states failed at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Tuesday, September 27. EU members had requested an “independent” international inquiry “to monitor and report on the situation of human rights in Yemen, on violations and abuses thereof since September 2014.”

As a result of days of behind-the-scenes talks, an updated and far milder “compromise” version of the resolution drawn up by Sudan on behalf of African Group was adopted without a vote on Thursday.

The resolution now calls for the allocation of “additional international human rights experts to its Yemen programme in coordination with the Government of Yemen” and the assurance that “the National Commission investigates allegations of violation and abuse committed by all parties to the conflict.”

Abduljabbar Zeyad‘Utter disregard for civilian life’: MSF slams Saudi airstrikes on Yemen hospitals
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, who has long been calling for an independent investigation, will also have to prepare an oral report on the situation in Yemen for the human rights council’s next meeting, the text of the resolution says.

Some welcomed the resolution, calling it “a step in the right direction,” as John Fisher of Human Rights Watch in Geneva described it, according to AFP. Vojislav Suc, Slovenia’s representative to the UN in Geneva, said the text is a “good and reasonable compromise.”

The proposed increase in the number of international experts was also welcomed by the Save the Children group, that, however, noted that “they [experts] need to establish all the facts around reported violations of international human rights and humanitarian law, which are destroying the lives of Yemeni children and their families.”

However, other rights groups such as Amnesty International have described the Yemeni National Commission as one-sided and lacking impartiality. Another fact that adds to concerns over the matter is that the Yemeni government has now basically been put in the position of investigating itself. The group called the compromise a “shameful” deal designed to please Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia leads a military coalition of nine Arab states participating in the Yemeni conflict, and has often been accused of bombing civilian targets. It has been staunchly against the international probe, with some human right groups saying the decision to decline the bid for an independent inquiry could have been made under pressure.

The approved resolution “puts Saudi Arabia’s desire for impunity above the need to protect the people of Yemen,” said Salma Amer, the UN advocacy officer at the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, as cited by AFP.

This is not the first decision UN has made that seemingly plays into the hands of Saudi Arabia. In June the kingdom was surprisingly removed from the UN’s blacklist of counties violating children’s rights in armed conflicts. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon later admitted that his arm was twisted and he received threats from a number of countries. Ban did not specifically mention Saudi Arabia, but admitted his decision was made under pressure.

Is the UN becoming a puppet of Saudi Arabia? How else could they get away with bombing hospitals, killing children and MSF doctors. The same thing is happening in Syria with Assad and, apparently, Russians doing some of the bombing. There should be zero tolerance for such heinous crimes and those responsible should be arrested to face crimes against humanity charges, or, just bombed to Hell.

‘Anti-Mosque’ Law (Round Two) Passed in Northern Italy

The Italian region of Liguria has approved a controversial law that may make it almost impossible for new mosques to be built in the area. Critics describe the law as anti-constitutional.

The set of new rules suggested by the Northern League party was adopted by a narrow majority, with 16 votes in favor and 15 against on Wednesday, according to Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX.

The new restrictions define the criteria a new religious building should meet to gain a construction permit.

Any such construction must not run counter to the “architectural and dimensional suitability of religious buildings with the general and specific characteristics of the Ligurian landscape,” the paper reported, meaning mosques and minarets may be found “un-Ligurian” and as such don’t belong to the current image of the region.

The law, though not attributed to any particular religion, has been dubbed “anti-mosque” by local media outlets.

Politicians opposed to the legislation, including members of the Five Star Movement (Cinque Stelle) and the Democratic Party (PD), claim the law goes against Italy’s constitution, the Corriere Della Sera newspaper reported.

Marco Scajola, city planning assessor in Liguria, who supports the law, rejected the accusations, saying that “respecting the general characteristics of Liguria's landscape is a merit, not a fault,” l’Occidentale reported. He added that the plan would introduce “clear rules, without overstepping municipalities and citizens.”

The law will also give greater powers to the region’s local authorities to choose the location of new buildings and other criteria that are to be respected. Municipalities will hold referendums to decide whether a new religious building should get the green light. The practice may cause problems since it goes against Liguria’s municipal charter, which bans referendums on matters concerning “single individuals or specific group of people.”

Round One

A similar draft law approved in the region of Lombardy in 2015 was rejected by Italy’s Constitutional Court in February. Lombardy’s bill was to target faiths that are not officially recognized in Italy, but the plan was dismissed since it could “obstruct or compromise freedom of religion.”

Regional authorities in Liguria had to pay special attention to the text of their law to avoid the possibility of the same outcome.

The number of mosques in Italy is relatively low, though one in Rome is said to be among the largest in Europe. Muslims living or visiting Italy often pray in makeshift places of worship set up in rented buildings.

Islam is the only major faith in Italy that does not have official status.

ISIS Shares Information of Belgian Military to 300 Contacts in Europe - Reports

It's called terrorism because it is terrifying. Knowing that lunatics seduced by ISIS propaganda have information on you and your family must be horrifying for those soldiers.

The Islamic State’s infamous French speaker, Rachid Kassim, was found distributing details, including pictures, of several Belgian soldiers to hundreds of his contacts in what authorities believed to be an incitement to terrorism.

According to the Belgian La Dernière Heure and Het Laatste Nieuws newspapers, Kassim sent the information to his network of around 300 people through the encrypted messaging service Telegram.

The message, entitled “orders to brothers of Belgium,” also included soldiers’ details taken from their social networks.

The authorities requested that the media refrain for 24 hours from publishing the sensitive information. A Belgian Ministry of Defense spokesperson confirmed that a “very serious” inquiry was now taking place and “being closely monitored by army intelligence services.”

“We must put these threats in the overall context,” said Belgium’s Chief of Defense General Marc Compernol. “This is something we are following with our intelligence and security services.”

“In the current environment we must be vigilant regarding the published content.”

The soldiers whose information was shared have been alerted and extra precautionary measures have been put in place.

Kassim, a 29-year-old French citizen from Lyon, has reportedly become the most dangerous propaganda agent for the Islamic State in the French-speaking world. Authorities suspect he orchestrated the recent terrorist attacks on French soil online, from an unknown location somewhere on the Iraq-Syria border.

Why is it that internet capabilities haven't been shut down in northern Iraq and Syria? Surely it can't be that hard.

French intelligence services were credited with intercepting Kassim’s messages on Telegram since the murder of a Catholic priest in the sleepy French town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray in July. His contacts are often vulnerable minors, many of whom have since been arrested in France.

Archaeologists Baffled as Roman Coins Discovered in Ruins of Japanese Castle

The first-ever discovery of ancient Roman artifacts in Japan has perplexed archaeologists who are searching for answers as to how the coins ended up on Okinawa Island.

Uruma city’s board of education announced the discovery beneath the ruins of Katsuren Castle this week saying the coins are believed to date back to the the third or fourth century, Asahi reports.

Archaeologists working on the site originally wondered if the coins were left there by tourists as a hoax but Toshio Tsukamoto, a researcher from the Gangoji Temple Cultural Properties Department, recognised the coins straight away.

"I'd come to analyze artifacts like Japanese samurai armor that had been found there when I spotted the coins," Tsukamoto, told CNN. "I'd been on excavation sites in Egypt and Italy and had seen a lot of Roman coins before, so I recognized them immediately."

The coins have eroded over time leaving the designs very difficult to decipher, however X-ray analysis revealed an image of Constantine I, who ruled Rome from 324 to 337 AD, and a soldier holding a spear.

The age of the artifacts only deepens the mystery as the construction of Katsuren Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, didn’t get underway until the 13th century.

Further excavations on the site uncovered six other coins which date back to the Ottoman Empire in the late 17th century.

Okinawa had a thriving trade with southeast Asia and China between the 14th and 16th centuries and Katsuren Castle was an important center of commerce during that time. The Uruma Board of Education described the coins as “precious historical material suggesting a link between Okinawa and the Western world,”The Japan Times reports.

It is quite reasonable to expect Roman coins to reach Japan in the late 17th or early 18th century. Vasco Da Gama first reached India in 1497 or 1498 opening trade between Europe and the subcontinent, and European exploration of southeast Asia began in the next century. But oriental merchants had been trading with northeast Africa, including Egypt, as well as in the Persian Gulf long before Da Gama.

It would have been a remarkable accomplishment if Japanese sailors had sailed through Malacca Strait, rounded India, and reached the Red Sea more than a thousand years earlier. The feat would be akin to the Vikings reaching Newfoundland some 600 or 700 years later and 500 years before Columbus or Da Gama.

"It is a strange and interesting find. We don't think that there is a direct link between the Roman empire and Katsuren castle, but the discovery confirms how this region had trade relations with the rest of Asia," a spokesperson from the board of education said to CNN.

‘What if There is No God?’ Duterte Promotes Death Penalty as Certain Means of Serving Justice

President Duterte, don't give up your day job;
you are no theologian!

The Philippines’ president said that growing influence of atheism and agnosticism leads to people disrespecting laws and committing heinous crimes. And “if there is no God,” capital punishment is the only way to make sure justice is served.

The first sentence is most definitely true; the second, I'm not too sure about. At any rate, there is a God so the statement is redundant. There is a difference between people who believe God exists, or may exist, and Christians who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour. The difference is the first group have never, or probably never really experienced God; the second has.

To accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour results in the immediate invasion of the Holy Spirit into the believer. It is only by this Spirit that one can experience God and therefore truly know that He is.

President Rodrigo Duterte has condoned the restoration of the death penalty in the Philippines “because the fear is not there” anymore. According to him, the previous presidents had given in to the pressure of the “bleeding hearts” and the Catholic Church who had been against the death penalty “because only God can kill”.

“The problem with that is, I ask you, ‘what if there is no God?’” Duterte said to reporters at the presidential palace in Manila.

“When a one-year-old, an 18-month-old baby is taken from the mother’s arms, brought under a Jeep and raped, and killed, where is God? And in Syria women and children, who don’t want to have sex with ISIS, they are burned. So where’s God? My God, where are you?” he addressed the creator directly.

God has restricted Himself to intervening in man's affairs only when He is asked or wanted. Otherwise, there would be no such thing as free will, and without free will, we could never come to love God, for which we were created. The horrors that man commits on the children of this world will not go unpunished and the suffering will not go without blessings in Eternity.

Previously, Duterte promised to personally deal with Islamic State jihadists by eating them alive in public.

Duterte professed that he personally believes in God, though existence of God have been a “perpetual question” for him, seeing “heartaches, sorrows and agony.” According to the Philippines’ president, the state needs a means to punish wrongdoers, without a need to wait for “the end of the world, when he [God] will judge the living and the dead”, since growing atheism and agnosticism mean people lack fear and do not respect the law.

“That is why, I said give me back the death penalty,” concluded the president, saying he has “always been a hardliner when it comes to the penal laws.”

On Friday Duterte made a similar comment, while giving a speech to police officers about illegal drugs and a set of rules to deal with drug criminals.

“Maybe God doesn’t want all these killings. But never mind, God is not my enemy. I’ll talk to him when I get there,” said Duterte to the officers. “I'll ask him, 'If you are really God, you didn't do anything, and the Filipinos are going crazy.'”

I would strongly advise you sort that out before you get there!

During the election campaign, Duterte promised to re-establish capital punishment as part of an ongoing ‘war on drugs’. Since he took office in the end of June, some 3,500 people have been killed during ‘the war’, while more than 600,000 people reportedly turned themselves in.

600,000 drug dealers in one country? Astonishing!

President Duterte is well-known for his harsh comments littered with profanities against world leaders. He has been facing criticism for his bloody war on drugs recently and responded to it in a rather questionable manner.

The Philippines president called his US counterpart Barack Obama “son of a b**ch,” earlier this month after hearing that the latter was to address the country’s ‘war on drugs’. The outburst led to the cancellation of scheduled talks between the two leaders. Later, Duterte stated that his comment had not been directed towards Obama, while doing that he somewhat managed to redirect the insult to the UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, calling him “a fool”.

Last week Duterte invited Ban Ki-moon and EU officials to investigate the methods of the nationwide drug crackdown. He managed, however, to insult the UN Secretary-General once more in process.

“I am inviting the United Nations’ Ban Ki ... what's the name of that devil? ... Ban Ki-moon,” Reuters quoted Duterte as saying.

OMGosh!

Mind you, it is odd that Moon and Obama are so concerned about the summary executions of reprobates in the Philippines and not at all concerned about the many beheadings and other executions in Iran and Saudi Arabia. But then, the Philippines don't have any oil and aren't buying much in terms of weapons. If they were, Moon and Obama would be a lot quieter.

Swiss Parliament Paves Way for Nationwide Burqa Ban

The movement against the burqa is important not just for women's rights sake, or for security sake, but the ban will disincentivize (did I just make up a word?) fundamentalist Muslims from immigrating to those countries where a ban is in place. Fundamentalist Muslims, if not already radicalized are very susceptible to radicalization.

Switzerland’s parliament has approved a draft bill aiming for a nationwide burqa ban, initiated by the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP). Its backers also launched a public petition with the same goal.

The draft bill was approved on Tuesday, with 88 MPs of the lower house voting in favor and 87 voting against the move. The draft legislation should be now reviewed by the Council of States, which represents all 26 Swiss cantons. Back in January the body signaled that it is likely to vote against such a measure, citing small numbers of women wearing the burqa in the country.

Tuesday’s vote was based on a SVP proposal which had roots back in 2014. An SVP MP and an anti-immigration advocate Walter Wobmann said that the main goal is to “maintain public order and respect for the dignity of women." Earlier in September Wobmann urged the banning of hijabs from passports, saying that “it is unacceptable that you can wear a hijab in a photo but not a cap.”

The idea of allowing a burqa in passport photos is utterly ridiculous. What's the point of a photo if a woman looks exactly like a hundred million other women?

The SVP-linked activists have meanwhile launched an initiative called “Yes to disguise ban.” On its website the project calls for an amendment to the Swiss constitution so that it contains a new article, banning the burqa across the country.

“No person shall cover [his/her] face in public and in places accessed by the public (exempt for holy places),” the statement by the initiative reads.

The paper adds that “no one is allowed to force a person to conceal [his/her] face because of their gender.” However it also states that exemptions are allowed in the case of “medical, security, climatic” reasons. The initiative must gain a minimum of 100,000 votes by September 15, 2017 for the move to be handled by authorities.

The burqa, alongside niqab is a full-face veil that only leaves a small opening for the eyes and is worn by women adhering to certain conservative interpretations of Islam. According to the latest polls conducted by the Swiss “Schweiz am Sonntag” news outlet 60 percent of people in the country are in favor of a nationwide burqa ban.

Interesting contrast: the woman in the distance has her eyes covered while
the woman in the burqa has everything but her eyes covered
On July 1 this year the Swiss canton of Ticino already implemented a complete ban on wearing the burqa and niqab, with a fines ranging from 100 Swiss francs ($98) to 10,000 ($10,200).

The majority of people in neighboring Germany has also backed a complete ban on burqa according to an August ARD poll. The survey said that 51 percent of respondents advocated outright prohibition. The idea is being strongly supported by the German anti-immigrant AfD party.

Similar mood can be noticed in the UK, where a recent YouGov poll found that 57 percent of Brits would vote in favor of burqa prohibition.

In May, the Dutch government backed a partial ban on wearing an Islamic face-covering veil in schools, hospitals and on public transport, with fines amounting to £300 ($388).

In 2011 France became the first European country to outlaw full-face coverings including the burqa. The country’s island of Corsica caused an angry reaction from Muslim women this summer after it also banned the burqini – full-body swimsuits worn by Muslim women. In July the island’s authorities bypassed the State Council’s legislation regarding the issues and introduced the ban on the beaches of commune of Sisko.

"That Makes Me Smart"! Sure!

If you have been following this blog for awhile you know that I haven't paid a lot of attention to the presidential race in the USA. You may even know that I do not like 'reality TV' nor do I like the 'theatre of the absurd', both of which describe the last year and a half of American electioneering. Consequently, I did not watch the big debate last night; I was happy to watch a few highlights, although I'm not sure that's the appropriate word. What I heard was disturbing but very telling.

Hillary Clinton missed a great opportunity last night to destroy Donald Trump; whether she didn't hear his remark or just wasn't ready for it, only she knows. But when she announced that Trump had paid zero dollars in taxes for some years (I'm not sure how she found that out, it seems unlikely that it was public information), Trump interjected with the comment, "That makes me smart"! Does it? Maybe, but saying it was a pretty stupid thing to do for several reasons:

1. He's calling everyone else in America who pays taxes - stupid for doing so.

2. That sets an example for Americans to emulate. If All Americans were 'smart', there would be no government, no police, no military, no justice system, no prison system, no food and drug control, etc., etc. Society would completely collapse into anarchy.

3. If Trump becomes President, he would have to deal with that very problem of falling tax revenues. Consequently, he would have to raise taxes in many areas and eliminate tax breaks, ie mortgages. God forbid he should attempt to tax the wealthy.

4. Trump has as much as admitted that the entire government, military, police, etc., etc, systems are being carried on the backs of middle income Americans who, obviously, aren't very 'smart'.

5. That means that Trump and many other extremely wealthy people do not support the American military, police or firefighters. They seem quite happy with allowing middle income Americans to shoulder all that responsibility. Their responsibility is to their own greed, not to America.

They are quite happy to send Americans into war zones where they know some will come back in body bags, or missing some parts, because many of America's wealthy benefit financially from Americans using their weapons, etc. And, all too often, those soldiers are fighting an enemy using American weapons as well. All the more profit for American arms manufacturers to hide in off-shore accounts away from the IRS.

One of the reasons middle Americans are supporting Trump is because he is rogue; he's not in the pockets of the 1% who are telling Congress and the Senate how to vote on any bill concerning them. And that's refreshing, the thought of the 1% not being able to control the government. It is, however, wishful thinking, for two reasons:

1. Trump is one of the 1%, so how would his policies differ from the others?

2. If he did attempt to make some significant changes to benefit middle-income Americans at the expense of the tax-free 1%, he would be stymied at every turn by Congress and the Senate who are still in the pockets of the rich and tax-free.

Swedish Police Face Looming Crisis as Cops Quit While No-Go Zones Increase

Swedish police lose control amid refugee crisis
as number of 'no-go zones' rises to 55

Image result for car fire Malamo Aug 16, 2015

A firefighter attempts to extinguish a fire which had damaged cars after the vehicles had been set alight, in Malmo, Sweden, August 15, 2016.

The inflow of asylum seekers in Sweden, a country with one of the most liberal laws towards refugees, is putting an increasing strain on the country's police. There are now reportedly 55 areas in the country, where the law is not fully upheld.

Dubbed “no-go zones” in some media reports, there are now 55 areas in Swedish cities, where the police have significant problems in tackling crime. They are divided into three categories depending on how significant the risk to officers working there is.

The number has risen from 50 in February, when the police last gave a comprehensive report on the issue, and last week, when the law enforcement agency gave an update. According to media reports, the service is facing a major crisis of self-confidence, with as many as three officers on average asking to resign on a daily basis. Internal polls say four officers out of five have been considering a change of profession lately.

“We have a major crisis. Many colleagues are choosing to quit,” police officer Peter Larsson told the Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “A drastically worsened working environment means many colleagues are now looking for other work.”

If officers go into a no-go zone, they risk being verbally attacked or pelted with stones. Patrol cars may be set ablaze or stolen.

Crime rates in the blacklisted areas are on the rise, the police report said. The offenses range from vandalism to drug crimes to sex assaults and gun violence. One particular example is Malmo, Sweden's third-largest city, where more than 70 cars were set on fire by arsonists over several days. The police managed to arrest only one suspect while investigating those attacks.

Ironically, after the Hungarian government used the existence of no-go zones in Europe to promote its cause for an upcoming referendum on EU quotas, the Swedish embassy rebuked it saying that no such areas existed in their country.

"It is important to us that accurate information about Sweden is given to the citizens of Hungary. The embassy has therefore had reason to object sharply to a map of Europe with red markings in a handful of member states, including Sweden, in which the Hungarian government claims that so-called 'no-go zones' exist, where police and the state have no control over citizens' safety," Anna Boda, the Deputy Head of the Swedish diplomatic mission in Budapest told The Local.

'No-Go' zones may be overstating some of the 55 areas mentioned by the Swedish police, but there is a reason why police are abandoning their trade. Sweden's government had better listen to their police and do something, or there will be absolute chaos in the streets.

“No-go zone” is a loaded term with no clear definition and caused division earlier amid the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe. Last year Paris wanted to sue Fox New for a report, which said no-go zones existed in the French capital.

France has already deployed its military to patrol the streets of Paris. So far, however, there has been more unrest from labour protesters than from Muslim enclaves. The government certainly would play down any 'no-go zone' revelations because tourism is vital to the French economy.

One thing seems clear - neither the Swedish, nor the French governments, are willing to deal with the truth.

US Troops Use White Phosphorus in Iraq to ‘Obscure’ Kurdish Forces – Newspaper

The US forces are reportedly using white phosphorus munitions against Islamist militants in Iraq, despite widespread perception of the weapon as indiscriminate and able to cause horrific injuries to civilians.

Images posted on a Pentagon-run public affairs website Dvids show a US Army artillery unit firing white phosphorus munitions in Iraq, identified by the Washington Post as M825A1 155mm shells.

The M825A1 shells are generally used to create a smokescreen lasting for up to 10 minutes, or make signals and markings for friendly troops. But when used indiscriminately in civilian-populated areas, white phosphorus munitions can cause severe burns.

“Coalition forces use these rounds with caution and always in accordance with the Law of Armed Conflict,” Colonel Joseph Scrocca, public affairs director for the US-led coalition, told the newspaper in an emailed statement on Wednesday.

“When M825A1 rounds are employed, they are done so in areas free of civilians and never against enemy forces,” he said, adding that the shells are being used for “screening and signaling” only.

However, on Thursday spokesman for the US-led coalition in Iraq Air Force Colonel John Dorrian somewhat revised Scrocca’s statement, claiming that the troops take “all reasonable precautions to minimize the risk of incidental injury to non-combatants and damage to civilian structures.”

Dorrian refused to elaborate on whether the US military have used white phosphorus shells against enemy forces, telling the Washington Post that the munitions had been “used generally for the circumstances which I described.”

He added that the image posted on Dvids has allegedly been taken during a US operation to support Kurdish fighters’ advance with artillery fire.

The operation, called Evergreen II, was focused on helping the Kurds secure the Gwer River Bridge, near the northern Iraqi town of Gwer, and the white phosphorus shells have been deployed to “obscure” Kurdish fighters’ offensive.

Evergreen II - does that mean white phosphorus is environmentally friendly? Haven't we been here before, with napalm? Haven't we seen the naked Kim Phuc running down the street with her arms outstretched screaming in pain from the napalm burning her body?

I'm astonished to think that after Viet Nam, someone would go out and invent a weapon that is exponentially more painful and deadly than napalm. But they are not intended for use against soldiers or civilians, you say. Well, I don't think napalm was intended for use against soldiers or civilians, but it was indeed used for such. And it's not as though militaries ever make a mistake and 'accidentally' bomb civilian targets, like hospitals, friendly combatants, or thousands of civilians in Aleppo and other cities in Syria and Iraq.

People who invent such evil methods of torturing and killing people will have a lot to account for when they stand before Jesus Christ.

Although widely-used by some militaries, the legality of the white phosphorus munitions remains questionable. Many weapons experts and rights groups believe that the weapon is indiscriminate in nature and extremely dangerous for civilians.

Earlier this month, Amnesty International said that the weapon has deliberately been used by the Saudis against Yemeni Houthi rebels. In 2014, HRW alleged that the Ukrainian Army deployed “exceptionally cruel” incendiary weapons, including white phosphorus, against anti-Kiev rebels defending the eastern city of Donetsk.

“When white phosphorus is used in attacks in areas containing concentrations of civilians and civilian objects, it will indiscriminately start fires over a wide area,” Mark Hiznay, associate arms director at HRW, told the newspaper.

“US and Iraqi forces should refrain from using white phosphorus in urban areas like Mosul, because whatever tactical military advantage is gained at the time of use, it will be far outweighed by the stigma created by horrific burns to civilian victims.”

In 2009, HRW called on NATO forces in Afghanistan to immediately release the results of their inquiry into deadly incident in which an eight-year-old girl in Kapisa province has been burned by white phosphorus munitions.

The girl died hours after the shelling because of several burn wounds on her face and neck. NATO forces denied use of white phosphorus munitions in the area and claimed that is was Taliban that may have fired the shells, but have not provided any evidence for their claims.

Islamism - 178 Acts of Terror, 1186 People Murdered Just in Last 30 Days

What has the religion of peace been up to, just in the last 30 days?

178 acts of terror, approx 6 per day, in
32 countries resulting in
1186 murders and
1622 injuries!
All committed by Muslims!

But they are not typical Muslims. However, there are enough of them that there is no shortage of people stupid enough to believe that by killing innocent people while you kill yourself, you will get to go to Paradise where 72 virgins are waiting for you. God never appeals to the flesh! Do you hear me?

God never appeals to the flesh!

There were at least 33 suicide bombers in the 30 day list. That's more than one per day or about 380 per year.

If this was a typical 30 day period then we can expect more than 2000 attacks per year resulting in
14,000 deaths and
16,500 injuries.

I don't recommend you read all the descriptions, some are very disturbing.
