A former British soldier facing terrorism charges who snuck out of a London prison on a food delivery truck was captured Saturday, police said.

Daniel Abed Khalife was nabbed while riding a bicycle along a canal path west of London after a four-day manhunt.

Khalife escaped from the Wandsworth Prison kitchen on Wednesday and got outside the gates by strapping himself to the bottom of a catering truck.

The 21-year-old was awaiting trial on charges of violating Britain's Official Secrets Act by gathering information "that could be useful to an enemy" and planting fake bombs at a military base. He was discharged from the British army after his arrest earlier this year and had denied the allegations. His trial is set for November.

Green Party Leader Demands Action Against Islamic Center In Hamburg

Iran International, September 7, 2023:

Omid Nouripour, the leader of Germany’s Green Party, has called for the closure of the Islamic Center in Hamburg, which he described as a “spy nest”.

In an exclusive interview with Iran International, Nouripour voiced concerns about the alleged activities of the center and the broader network of Islamic centers established by the Islamic Republic within Germany.

Nouripour, during his conversation with an Iran International reporter in Berlin, highlighted the existence of what he termed a “spy network” created by the Islamic Republic through these Islamic centers. He said that regime officials used the network to engage in espionage activities targeting both the German populace and Iranians seeking protection within Germany.

The German domestic security apparatus has repeatedly issued warnings that the Islamic Center in Hamburg is promoting the ideology of the Shiite Islamic Republic. Furthermore, the deputy head of this center faced expulsion from Germany in November 2022 on charges related to connections with Hezbollah members, designated as a terrorist group in Germany.

Nouripour explained, “We have long been advocating for the closure of Islamic centers affiliated with the Islamic Republic in Germany and have exerted significant pressure in pursuit of this goal.”….

What is particularly noteworthy about the call to close the Iran-linked Islamic Center in Hamburg is that it comes from the leader of the Green Party, Omid Nouripour. Nouripour is calling for the shutdown of the Hamburg Islamic Center, along with all of those which are “affiliated with the Islamic Republic.” He has “exerted significant pressure in pursuit of this goal.”

Yet only last year, Nouripour stated that some parts of Sharia are compatible with the German constitution. Such as what? The giving of alms, which is standard in every religion? His statement was imprudent considering the global problems that the Sharia causes, including the persecution of minorities, the second-class status of women, and other aspects of it that are completely incompatible with Western laws. The Sharia is supremacist and deemed by observant Muslims as above all laws. Iran is the keeper of Shia Islam and its supreme leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, is the Marja — the highest authority in Shia Islam.

Either Nouripour has had a change of heart or is politicking, as is routine among politicians, to the detriment of Western countries. In May, it was reported that some Green Party politicians were changing their views and demanding a change in Germany’s failed migration policy, so perhaps he is trying to save his own skin as his party shifts in response to the sentiments of the citizens, after they have suffered the consequences of a suicidal open-door immigration policy. Such policy allows infiltrators and contributes to the building of jihadist networks.

Whatever his motive, Nouripour is justified in calling for the shutdown of the Hamburg Islamic Center. No Western country should allow the operation of any hostile entities inside its borders. They are a threat to national security.

Update / 77 percent more than 2022: the number of asylum seekers

in Germany continues to rise sharply

Translated from “Update / 77 Prozent mehr als 2022: Zahl der Asylbewerber in Deutschland steigt weiter stark,”

by Albrecht Meier, Tagesspiegel, September 7, 2023:

The number of asylum seekers in Germany rose again in August compared to the previous month. As the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) announced on Thursday, 27,738 initial applications for asylum were registered in August.

In July there were 23,674 initial applications, in June 23,194. Compared to July, the number of first-time asylum applications in August rose by 17.2 percent.

In August, as in the two previous months, most asylum applications were made by people from Syria, Turkey and Afghanistan. According to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, 204,461 initial applications for asylum have been made so far this year. In the current year, the Federal Office has decided on 175,474 asylum procedures.

If you add the 15,655 follow-up applications, a total of 220,116 people applied for asylum in Germany between January and August. The number of initial applications jumped by 77.2 percent compared to the same period last year, when 115,402 initial applications were made. As the Bamf further announced, 15,897 of the initial applications in 2023 related to children born in Germany under the age of one year.

People from Georgia made 674 initial applications for asylum in August. The number of applications from Georgia is declining – in July it was 823. The federal government wants to add Georgia and Moldova to the list of safe third countries, but the Greens and some Social Democrats are skeptical about the plan.

How many asylum seekers does Germany have to prepare for this year? The migration researcher Judith Kohlenberger from the Vienna University of Economics and Business told the Tagesspiegel that forecasts are difficult because conflicts outside the EU that are decisive for the flight often arise spontaneously. However, it is quite conceivable that individual countries in the EU could also register increased arrival numbers in late summer and early autumn. For Germany, it cannot be ruled out that more than 300,000 asylum applications will be registered this year.

Kohlenberger explained that more and more refugees are currently arriving on the Italian island of Lampedusa. This could also result in increased secondary migration towards Germany. Secondary migration means that migrants move on to other EU countries like Germany, although arrival countries like Italy are actually responsible for processing the asylum applications.

Kohlenberger, meanwhile, demands that Germany should not participate in the “race to the bottom” that other EU countries such as Denmark have started to lower asylum standards. It would make more sense if the federal government advocated sanctions at EU level, for example against the Hungarian government, which has suspended the asylum rules…

Hungary does not want to become part of the Islamic Caliphate of Europe, which is surely coming in this century.

300 Dutch left on jihad since 2012; 90 returned, 105 killed:

Intelligence service

NL Times, September 6, 2023:

al Hol camp, Syria

Around 300 Netherlands residents left for Syria and Iraq in recent years with jihadist intentions. About 90 of them have returned to the Netherlands. About 80 minors have also returned, the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) reported in its latest state of affairs, which reflects the situation on August 31. Since 2012, approximately 105 adult Dutch jihadists have died in Syria and Iraq, as have 30 children.

Most of those who returned to the Netherlands did so in 2013 and 2014. In addition, approximately 15 adults and 50 children returned to another country in the past five years. In many cases, it concerns a country where they also have citizenship, like Turkey.

According to the AVID, there are still about 100 adult Dutch people in the region, a third of whom are staying in Syrian Kurdish camps or detention centers in northeastern Syria. There are about 25 Dutch people among jihadist groups….

The AIVD keeps track of figures on Dutch jihadists because part of the jihadist threat to the Netherlands comes from this group. According to the intelligence service, they could pose a security risk upon return….
