Anti-Immigrant Sweden Democrats Party Surges in Polls Amid EU’s Eurosceptic Wave

The anti-immigration Sweden Democrats have gained ground in a recent poll, pulling almost even with the ruling Social Democrats, ahead of an election in September. Similar parties have won recent elections in Slovenia and Italy.

The poll, conducted for Sweden’s Expressen newspaper and published Monday, has put the Sweden Democrats in second place, with 21 percent of the vote, the highest score in the party’s history. The liberal Social Democrats, currently in a coalition government with the Green Party, are still in first place but polling at 23.1 percent.

The surge in popularity for Sweden Democrats is attributed to voters leaving Social Democrats for other left-wing parties, but also to the country’s open-door migration policy, which has been accompanied by a crime wave.

Gang-related gun murders –overwhelmingly carried out by men with migrant backgrounds– have surged from around four per-year in the early 1990s to 40 last year. Rapes and anti-Semitic attacks by Muslim immigrants have also surged. Grenade attacks were up 550 percent last year from three years prior.

Just last week, Rakmat Akilov, an asylum seeker from Uzbekistan, was given a life sentence for a truck attack last year. Akilov plowed a truck down a busy shopping street in Stockholm last April, killing five people and injuring almost a dozen others. Among the dead was an 11-year-old girl. He said he acted on behalf of Islamic State.

“I often use Sweden as a deterring example,” Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Swedish television in January, warning about the dangers of unchecked immigration.

In April, a poll by Demoskop revealed that immigration is the top issue for Swedish voters ahead of the election. Law and order is the third most important issue, while integration comes in fourth. On immigration and integration, voters have the most confidence in the Sweden Democrats party.

The Social Democrats party seems to be be focusing on other issues, however. On Monday, Stockholm’s city council voted to ban ‘sexist’ advertising in public spaces, including ads that "show a stereotypical image of gender roles.” The council is run by the Social Democrats and Moderate Unity Party, described as “liberal conservatives.”

The Sweden Democrats’ rise appears to be tracking the broader swing in support towards parties critical of immigration across the European Union. Italy got a Eurosceptic government at the end of May, which immediately took a tough line on immigration. Over the past weekend, the Italian navy turned back a French ship that rescued 629 migrants in the Mediterranean, criticizing the EU leadership in Brussels for leaving Italy to bear the brunt of Europe’s migrant problem “all by itself.”

Last week, Slovenia’s anti-immigrant SDS-EPP party won the general election there, with 28 percent of the vote. The SDS-EPP has promised to lock down the Slovenian border and ban the wearing of the burqa in public. They have received open support from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a long-time crusader against immigration and the Brussels establishment.

The Sweden Democrats still face an uphill battle to get into government. Sweden’s establishment parties have long refused to enter into coalition with them. Electoral math still favors a loose alliance of centrist parties, currently polling 38.5 percent, while a leftist coalition around the Social Democrats is polling at 36.2 percent.

"The important thing for us is to get as much of our policy through as possible, and then it does not matter who we get it through with,” said party leader Richard Jomshof. “Anything is possible.”

Anti-Semitic, Muslim, British MP Calls Tories Islamophobic, and Gove, Extremist

Baroness Warsi, the Muslim former Tory Minister at the centre of claims that the Conservative Party is riddled with Islamophobia and racism, has made further incendiary claims in an exclusive interview held yesterday with Business Insider.

During the interview, Warsi, who was David Cameron’s Former Minister of State for Faith and Communities amongst other roles, hit out at the Tories in a blistering attack, accusing her own party of deliberately whipping up anti-Muslim hatred in order to win elections, and even claiming that the current Environment Secretary Michael Gove – who is the bookies’ joint favourite with Jacob Rees-Mogg to be the next Tory leader – hides ‘extreme’ views about Muslims.

Sayeeda Warsi, who resigned her cabinet post over the UK government’s failure to condemn Israel’s assault on Gaza, has called for British volunteers for the Israeli army to be treated as foreign fighters and prosecuted on their return to the UK.

Speaking about Gove’s role in what she described as the ‘Ukipification’ of the party, Warsi told Business Insider:

“I sometimes joke that Michael Gove radicalised David Cameron

In private conversations [I know that David] had some concerns about some of the extreme views that Michael had but over time [Gove] influenced a lot of his views.”

Warsi also goes on to describe how she feels she was treated as a ‘sleeper cell‘ by the party, and made to feel like ‘the enemy at the table’ by certain high-ranking members, saying:

“Things would be held back and I wouldn’t be informed about things,

There was always a sense that there were people in the party who questioned ‘where do her loyalties lie?’ ”

Before adding that:

“I remember being told once in Cabinet ‘colleagues are uncomfortable with the amount of notes you’re taking around the cabinet table. You seem to take a lot more notes than anybody else’.”

During the explosive interview, Warsi also claims that anti-Muslim hatred is ‘very widespread‘ throughout the entire party, “from the grassroots, all the way up to the top“, adding that:

“I don’t think it’s something that Theresa is a part of, but I do believe it is something the leadership feels can be easily ignored.”

Warsi went on to explain that the party were disgracefully ignoring the problem because Muslims generally don’t “vote for them in any great numbers“, adding that:

“I think that there is a general sense in the country that Muslims are fair game and it is not the kind of community where you can treat really badly and have many consequences. You can get any with it”

The former Tory Minister also described how the party shamelessly and intentionally divided ethnic communities in Britain, stating:

“It has been a classic case of ‘we’re not racist — we like brown people but we like this kind of brown people as opposed to this kind of brown people,

It’s saying ‘these are the acceptable brown people and those are the unacceptable brown people’ and I think that is really dangerous.”

And citing the Tories’ ‘dog whistle‘ 2016 London Mayoral campaign against Sadiq Khan, Warsi said:

“We specifically went out for Hindu voters saying ‘Sadiq’s after your jewellery and I love Modi and by the way, Sadiq is an extremist’. It was really amateur dog whistle politics”

Adding:

“I just feel that somebody in campaign took a decision that if we throw enough dirt at him tied to the fact that he’s a Muslim then people will say this man can’t be trusted and he won’t vote for him. Terrible, terrible campaign which I think still has an effect.

People always go back to it. People who were Conservative candidates and members couldn’t bring themselves to vote for us.”

Despite calls from numerous Muslim organisations, as well as both former Tory Minister Baroness Warsi, Tory Peer Lord Sheikh, and the Conservative’s own Muslim organisation, The Conservative Muslim Forum, the Tories have so far refused to hold an inquiry, with Home Secretary Sajid Javid essentially denying that any such problem existed within the party.

Despite the denials, and despite numerous politicians and representatives having already been suspended for anti-Muslim hatred, just yesterday it was also revealed that 10 current serving Tory MPs and 25 Tory Councillors were all members of an openly racist, anti-Muslim Facebook group.

Should I point out the being anti-Muslim is not being racist! Islam is not a race, it's an ideology like Scientology.

Members of the Conservative Debating Forum were exposed discussing how they wanted to ‘ban Islam‘ and compared Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott to a gorilla.

OK, the gorilla thing might be racist.

High profile Tory MPs such as Jacob Rees-Mogg and Ben Bradley were both found to be members of the group, but who are both reported to have left after being made aware of the heinous nature of some of the content.

However, despite the mountains of evidence showing widespread Islamophobia, Baroness Warsi said the party were in denial about the problem and that the atmosphere within the party meant that many Tory Muslims were frightened to speak out.

“There was a radio phone-in this morning [on the issue] and the number of people who came on and I recognised their voices and they said their name was Raj or Dave, but they wouldn’t say their real names, and I actually recognised two of the people from the party.

“And one of them was asked why they don’t reveal their name and they said ‘because I would be finished because they’re so far down the food chain we would be finished.”

Before finally adding:

“Isn’t it outrageous that people feel they can’t even own these concerns?”

The Conservative Party reportedly refused to comment on Baroness Warsi’s latest extraordinary claims.

The latest 'scandal' is that Warsi's remarks were not front-page news on every news outlet in the country. It's a mystery to me why they weren't as MainstreamMedia, (MSM), loves to trash anyone and anything that complains about the peaceful invasion of Europe by Islam. 

Perhaps it has something to do with Warsi's anti-Semitic tendencies, or her hyperbolic complaints that the Tories are not warm and fuzzy enough to satisfy her Muslimism. For all her complaints, London has a Muslim Mayor, something unimaginable 20 years ago. There are numerous Muslim MPs and Councillors in the UK and their numbers are increasing with every election. 

This is a concern for sensible Tories as the inevitable becomes obvious. If they weren't concerned about it, they would be the ones to hold the blame for the Islamization of Briton. When their great granddaughters are required to wear a niqab to go to school, they will be held accountable. 

It is fear of being called a racist that keeps such things from being discussed openly. Even discussing them privately evokes calls of racism from Warsi and others. This is the real danger in the UK, and it is hopeful that MSM may be beginning to realize that. 

Or, perhaps, it is just that Warsi has no credibility on Fleet Street.

Woman, 18, Severely Wounded in Apparent Terror Stabbing in Israel

Police arrest alleged attacker, a Palestinian man, after shooting him in the leg;

victim in serious condition in Afula hospital

An 18-year-old woman was stabbed and seriously wounded in the northern city of Afula on Monday in an apparent terror attack, authorities said.

Police arrested her suspected attacker, who had fled the scene, after a brief manhunt. The suspect was identified by police as a Palestinian man in his 20s from the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

“Police shot the suspect in the leg after calling upon him to stop,” a police spokesperson said. “The suspect was arrested with a knife in his possession.”

Police said they were still investigating the motive for the stabbing, but were working under the assumption that it was a terror attack.

“The main line of investigation is that this was a terror attack, however the investigation is continuing in order to rule out other motives,” the police spokesperson said.

Later in the day, Hebrew media reported police were closer to determining the attack was nationalistically motivated.

The Palestinian suspect, reportedly from the West Bank city of Jenin, was in Israel without a permit, police said.

Videos of the suspected terrorist’s arrest were quickly posted to social media by bystanders.

The victim was identified as Shuva Malka, an 18-year-old resident of Migdal Ha’emek.

She was stabbed shortly before noon on the street and collapsed outside a local coffee shop, police said.

“When we arrived at the scene, it was very chaotic. There was an 18-year-old girl sitting on a chair at the entrance to a store. She was conscious and suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper body,” one of the medics who treated her said.

She was taken to the nearby HaEmek Medical Center in serious condition, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

Hospital officials said that her condition had stabilized but remained serious.

A planned performance by a controversial Muslim rapper at the Bataclan, where 90 people were killed during the November 2015 Paris attacks, has prompted a wave of criticism and has been described as a ‘dishonor for France.’

Medine, who is of Algerian descent, is due to play two gigs at the venue in October. The musician has denied that he is an Islamist but caused outcry in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo attack because of his song ‘Don’t Laik,’ which includes the lyrics: “Let's crucify the secularists like at Calvary... put fatwas on the heads of these idiots.”

He also released an album called ‘Jihad’ in 2005, but insisted that it is about an internal identity struggle.

Isn't that what radicalization is, an eternal identity struggle? First you struggle with who you are, then you struggle with the truth, then you give in to the insanity of radical Islam.

The decision to allow the singer to play the venue has drawn severe criticism from several high-profile French politicians. Laurent Wauquiez, the leader of the Republicans, France’s largest opposition party, tweeted that it was “sacrilege for the victims” and a “dishonor for France.”

Not to mention, remarkably stupid!

Wauquiez added that he was shocked that “someone who sings about 'crucifying secularists' and calls himself 'Islamo-scum’” should play the famous venue “less than three years after Islamist barbarism cost the lives of 90 of our compatriots.”

Former presidential candidate Marine Le Pen said: “No French person can accept that this guy is going to spew out his filth at the Bataclan. We have had enough of complacency and worse, of this incitement to Islamist fundamentalism.”

Le Pen’s National Rally party started an online petition, calling for the gigs to be cancelled and more than 16,000 people had already added their names on Monday afternoon.

Members of parliament belonging to President Emmanuel Macron's LaREM party have also criticized the move, with Aurore Berge saying that having Medine headline a concert at the Bataclan was an "insult" to the victims of the atrocity.

The rapper said that ‘Dont Laik,’ a play on the French word for secular, was an attempt to mock people with staunch secular views in the same way that Charlie Hebdo cartoons mocked religious fundamentalists, according to Le Monde. He later distanced himself from the song saying that it “went too far.”

Austria’s move to close mosques and expel “foreign-funded” imams has infuriated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, warning of a war “between cross and crescent” and threatening that Ankara will not sit idle.

“These measures taken by the Austrian prime minister are, I fear, leading the world towards a war between the cross and the crescent," Erdogan said in a speech in Istanbul on Sunday. Crescent, which can be seen on mosques and other Muslim entities, symbolizes Islamic religion since time immemorial.

"They say they're going to kick our religious men out of Austria. Do you think we will not react if you do such a thing?” he asked, quoted by AFP. “That means we're going to have to do something,” Erdogan added without elaborating.

Earlier this week, Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl from the right-wing FPO party announced that the country vows to close seven mosques and potentially expel dozens of Turkish-funded imams and their families in Austria’s crackdown on “political Islam.”

Austrian officials, including Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, claimed the move was to battle radicalization and growing ‘parallel societies’. However, this explanation did not sit well with Ankara. “Austria’s decision to close seven mosques and expel imams is a reflection of the Islamophobic, racist and discriminatory wave in this country,” Ibrahim Kalin, the spokesman of Tayyip Erdogan, commented on Twitter.

According to him, Vienna wants to “to target Muslim communities for the sake of scoring cheap political points.” Ankara had also called the decision “racist.”

Islam is not a race, of course, but the majority of imams labelled for expulsion are Turkish.

Sultan Erdogan knows that Islam has been at war with Christianity for 1400 years. They are at war with Christians in many countries even today, and in those Islamic countries where they are not at war, Christianity has already been eradicated. This is the ultimate goal of Islam, to destroy Christians, Jews and other Muslims who are not in agreement with their particular brand of insanity. Then Sharia will rule the world and there will be peace; no freedom, but peace.

Erdogan and other Islamic leaders want to keep up the guise of peace as Islam slowly invades all western cultures with the mindless assistance of left-leaning governments and media. They are doing a spectacular job and with their high birth-rates and western women's very low birth-rates, they will be in the majority in some western European countries within a generation or two. Imagine France, Sweden and the Netherlands under Sharia. Then realize that it will happen everywhere if Islam is not stopped.

Previously, Austrian government moved to ban girls from wearing headscarves in kindergartens and primary schools. The move was part of the so-called “Child Protection Act”, presumably aimed at reinforcing Austrian culture and encouraging better assimilation.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said seven mosques will be shuttered in Vienna's effort to crack down on politically-motivated Islamic activity. 

UPI -- In a crackdown on politically-motivated Islamic activity, Austrian leader Sebastian Kurz said Friday seven mosques will be shut down and 40 Islamic leaders expelled from the country.

The chancellor's move follows an investigation into the mosques that found some have links to Turkish nationalists. One belonged to the Turkish-Islamic Cultural Associations, or ATIB, Kurz said at a news conference Friday.

Out of Austria's 260 imams, 60 are being investigated -- and 40 belong to ATIB, Kurz said.

Officials said the imams will be deported because they are foreign-funded, a provision that became criminal in Austria three years ago.

"We act decisively and actively against undesirable developments and the formation of parallel societies -- and will continue to do so if there are violations of the law on Islam," Kurz said in a tweet.

Turkish presidential aide Ibrahim Kalin tweeted Austria's decision is "a reflection of the Islamophobic, racist and discriminatory wave in this country."

"It is an attempt to target Muslim communities for the sake of scoring cheap political points," he said. "Efforts to normalize Islamophobia and racism must be rejected under all circumstances."

Suncor CEO Slams Climate Change Deniers, Politicians Who Criticize Them

'I hope some of those politicians get brave enough to stand up and take some different positions,' CEO says

The head of Canada's largest oil company says climate change is backed by science, and deniers, including politicians, need to do a U-turn and accept it.

Suncor Energy Inc. president and chief executive officer Steve Williams — speaking on a panel during the event in Calgary titled Bridging Divides: In Search of Sound Public Policies for Energy and Environment in Canada — said he's unhappy with how the debate on climate change has become so polarizing.

"It is a matter of profound disappointment to me that science and economics have taken on some strange political ownership. Why the science of the left-wing is different than the science of the right-wing. Why it's not possible for, certainly within Canada for conservatives, to take a conversation about, 'Hey, it's just a fact. Let's get some facts out on the table,'" Williams told the crowd at the sold-out event.

"Climate change is science. Hardcore science. What we have been talking about here is economics. Science and economics. Both very important subjects, not perfectly understood. Periods of discovery go on forever and we keep getting better and better at those things."

Williams said conservation is a no-brainer.

"It makes sense to consume things sensibly. Common sense is not a big part of the conversation that normally goes on on this thing," he said.

"Energy efficiency, the sensible use of what is a finite resource. My belief is that we will run out of these things in the not too distant future, 100 or 200 years, so we better use them very wisely."

Williams didn't hold back on politicians who aim their rhetoric at deniers.

"I find it scary. And I find the current politics of it — where if you want to vote this side of the politics or that side of the politics, you have to be a believer or not a believer — is complete nonsense, and we shouldn't allow that framing of the debate," Williams said.

"And I hope some of those politicians get brave enough to stand up and take some different positions on it."

And this is the biggest problem... that it has become so political and, as such, has become very nearly hysterical. 

Yes, climate change is real; the planet is getting warmer; I have been saying that since the 1980s, and it has been very obvious. But far-left lunatics are over-reacting, using hyperbole constantly, and calling those who doubt global warming, or who doubt the speed of global warming, insulting, immature names. Mind you, some may deserve it for doing the same thing to those who believe in global warming, but it is not helpful to turn science into emotion.

Science, as Mr Williams stated, is on the side of climate change proponents. This makes deniers easy targets for those who have unshakable faith in science, and those who believe themselves to be superior persons. But making fun of those who disagree with you, even when science seems to support you, is not the behaviour of a superior person, but a lesser person - an immature person.

A superior person would ask himself why deniers can't see the obvious? And if he was willing to look closely, he would see why. He would see that there is evidence that the numbers have been cooked. Science requires unbiased research. A true scientist must be willing to accept that the theory he proposes may be completely wrong. Many climate change scientists are simply not willing to look at that possibility. Scientists who are willing to look at other possibilities cannot get funding for research. 

This is literally a conspiracy theory with lots of supporting evidence. It doesn't deny that science supports global warming, but it denies that the science is not unbiased as science must be.

A couple years ago I posted a story from the UK where a British Lord overheard another British politician declare that the next attempt at a climate accord (Paris 2015) would be successful because the two world leaders who refused to sign the Copenhagen Climate Change Accord would be gone. 

Sir David King, UK ambassador to IPCC, stated quite plainly that there would be an election in Canada in 2015 and they and the UN would make sure that Stephen Harper did not win. He also pointed out that Malcolm Turnbull would pull a political coup on Tony Abbott and replace him as Prime Minister of Australia. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Turnbull's middle name is Bligh.

Turnbull replaced Abbott in September 2015 and Justin Trudeau replaced Harper in early November, 2015, just in time for the December Paris accord. Harper and Abbot were the only world leaders who refused to sign in Copenhagen. Was it a conspiracy? What else could you call it? 

There are many reasons why deniers have serious doubts about climate change. These are just a couple. If you want to criticize me for anything I wrote, please do so on the basis of facts and in a civil manner. Let's move this debate to a higher level than name-calling.
