Corruption is Everywhere > Canadian Federal Minister's company sued for 7th time

Randy Boissonnault is a minister in the Trudeau government. He is under accusations that he was dealing with his business partner while a federal minister, which is a real no-no, unless you are a Liberal, apparently. Despite the cloud of suspicion, Trudeau has not asked him to step down as a reponsible minister should.

Boissonneault is one of only 2 Liberal MP's from Alberta. That's two more than there will be next year.

Boissonnault’s former company, business partner

face civil fraud allegation

Cabinet minister Randy Boissonnault’s former company is facing its seventh lawsuit and an allegation of fraud by an Edmonton seniors care not-for-profit.

Shepherd’s Care Foundation and its affiliate, Christian Care at Home Trust, filed a claim against Global Health Imports (GHI) and Boissonnault’s former business partner, Stephen Anderson, on July 12.

The suit, filed in Edmonton, accuses Anderson of moving more than $430,000 worth of Shepherd’s Care’s inventory out of GHI’s Edmonton warehouse and producing a fraudulent document to cover it up. The products were allegedly never returned.

This is the second allegation of civil fraud Anderson faces. Boissonnault is not named in the new lawsuit.

Boissonnault co-founded GHI, a medical supply company, with Anderson at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and helped run the company until he won back his Edmonton Centre seat and was appointed to cabinet in the fall of 2021.

Boissonnault said then he resigned, as is legally required of public office holders, but remained a 50 per cent owner of GHI until this past June, when he surrendered his shares.

Currently employment minister, Boissonnault is under scrutiny from Canada’s ethics commissioner over allegations he may have been involved in GHI’s business dealings while in office. Ministers may own stakes in companies but are prohibited from operating or managing them.

Recent Global News investigations revealed GHI’s legal troubles and raised questions about whether Boissonnault was communicating with Anderson about a business deal in 2022 — when he was tourism minister.

Corruption is Everywhere > Dolton, Illinois - The Worst Mayor in America? Chinese Influence in Canadian Elections

Residents demand ‘Dolton Dictator’ Tiffany Henyard

resign over sex assault, embezzlement scandals:

‘Worst mayor in America’

The Village of Dolton’s monthly board meeting descended into chaos as the swarm of 100 people banged on doors as dozens of others testified against Henyard, leading the four trustees to walk out.

“You know what you’re doing. You’re violating our rights, and that’s a shame,” one resident testified.

About 100 protesters called for Tiffany Henyard to resign as mayor of the village of Dolton, Illinois.

“This is a disgrace what you have done to this village … They say that you’re the worst mayor in America. I agree.”

Another added: “You’ve done nothing. You don’t care about nobody but yourself.”

The board had been scheduled to address Henyard’s veto of an investigation into her alleged misuse of taxpayer money for lavish trips and her own $1 million police detail — a decision it promised to override at Monday’s meeting.

Last month, she shot down a resolution passed unanimously by the four-person village board to open the probe, calling on her to submit the village’s financial records and invite the FBI to conduct its own investigation.

Henyard is accused of using taxpayer money for personal gain and for firing a former employee who made sexual assault allegations.

The meeting didn’t run beyond the public speaking portion of the agenda, however, after police emptied the room over what they said were credible threats.

Four trustees, who voted in favor of the investigation into Henyard, said the move was a violation of their constituents’ right to participate in the meeting and walked out in protest, a decision Henyard chastised as only adding to the “chaos.”

“Our job is to make sure we take care of business and not allow the business to handle us,” Henyard said before adjourning.

All four trustees, who voted in favor of a probe into Henyard’s alleged corruption, walked out of the meeting.

Henyard’s three-year tenure has been plagued by corruption accusations, which ramped up in recent weeks after she admitted to a $2 million deficit, with Dolton owing more than $427,000 for street paving and another $400,000 for tree-trimming services.

The board of trustees accused her of fudging the estimate by millions and covering up personal expenses she paid for using village money.

“Why can’t we have transparency with what’s going on with our tax dollars?” one constituent asked during the meeting.

Multiple residents demanded Henyard resign, with one calling her the “worst mayor in America.”

Henyard is also facing a sexual harassment and retaliation complaint by a former employee who accused the mayor of firing her after claiming she was sexually assaulted during a work trip in Las Vegas last year.

“You know what happened in Vegas. You know what happened. And you should be addressing it,” one resident said at the meeting.

The mayor has denied all accusations of wrongdoing, claiming last month that the storm of allegations is nothing more than a smear campaign to oust a female politician.

One vocal community member who initially backed Henyard told The Post in February that “it was a vote I regret deeply.

“When she got into office, she just shut everyone out, and she went into the opposite direction. She became this tyrant and dictator,” said Sherry Britton, 55.

The Village of Dolton did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

MP Dong Admits Knowing a Bus Brought International

Students to His Nomination Meeting

MP Han Dong admitted being aware that a bus was organized by a private school to bring international students to vote in the 2019 Liberal Party nomination contest in which he was a candidate.

The admission was mentioned by commission counsel Kate McGrann at the foreign interference inquiry in Ottawa on April 2.

Referring to a statement of evidence to be presented later, Ms. McGrann said Mr. Dong knew “that international students attending a private high school and living in a residence at Seneca College voted in the 2019 Don Valley North nomination.”

Ms. McGrann said, “That statement of anticipated evidence also says that Mr. Dong recalls being told that a bus organized by the school had transported some of the students to the nomination meeting.”

Citing anonymous sources, Global News reported in February 2023 that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service observed that Chinese international students with fake addresses were allegedly bussed into the riding and “coerced to vote in Dong’s favour.”

In the aftermath of the news report and others about Mr. Dong’s alleged interactions with the Chinese Consulate, he resigned from the Liberal caucus and now sits as an Independent. He has denied any wrongdoing and has launched a lawsuit against Global News.

Mr. Dong, who is set to appear before the inquiry later on April 2, hasn’t responded to requests for comment by The Epoch Times.

Ms. McGrann made her statements as part of questions posed to Azam Ishmael, the national campaign director of the Liberal Party.

She asked Mr. Azam why the Liberal Party has said there were “no issues or irregularities” in the 2019 Liberal nomination contest in the Don Valley riding in Ontario.

“The Liberal Party of Canada operates I think, much like the other political parties a very rigorous process around nomination meetings, including a set of published rules, as well as the basis in our constitution that are reviewed and approved by the National Board of Directors,” Mr. Azam said.

“The chair of the meeting for that particular nomination meeting has not indicated any irregularity. Nor did any of the participants in the meeting avail themselves of the appeals process that is available to anybody who is party to the nomination meeting.”

The Liberal Party changed its candidacy nomination rules in 2016 such that those who “register” with the party at no fee can vote in candidacy elections. With this change, no donation to the party is required to become a member to vote for nomination candidates, and therefore those not holding citizenship or permanent residency status can vote in those races.

The Foreign Interference Commission was formed after pressure from opposition parties to look into reports of foreign interference in Canada’s 2019 and 2021 elections.

The reports said that the Chinese regime had funded the campaigns of 11 candidates in the 2019 race. They also said that Beijing favoured the Liberals to win due to the Conservatives’ policies that didn’t favour the Chinese Communist Party.

Islamic State terrorist group says Friday’s suicide bombing attack on a Shia mosque in southern Afghanistan that killed 47 people and left dozens wounded was carried out by its members.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Fatimiya Mosque in Kandahar province in a statement, distributed on social media by its Amaq news agency.

The statement included the names of the two male suicide bombers, saying they first shot and killed the guards at the entrances to the site.

After that, one of the attackers detonated explosives at the entrance to the mosque, while the other blew himself up inside the building, it added.

It is the second major attack by IS since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in mid-August amid the withdrawal of US troops from the country. Last week, the terrorist group targeted a Shia mosque in the northern city of Kunduz, killing 46 people and injuring 143 others.

The Afghan branch of Islamic State, known as ISIS Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), had previously been active mainly in east of the country, but these recent bombings indicate that the group is expanding its operations, despite promises by the Taliban to restore peace and security in the country.

The attack in Kandahar is presumed to be especially painful for the Taliban as the province is seen as the group’s spiritual heartland.

ISIS-K was behind the suicide bombing outside Kabul’s airport on August 26 during the chaotic evacuation of the US and its allies from Afghanistan. The massive explosion and subsequent gunfire killed 13 US soldiers and over 160 Afghan civilians.

US forces responded to the attack with airstrikes against IS targets in eastern Nangarhar Province and a drone strike in Kabul intended to target a terrorist, but which ended up killing 10 civilians, seven of whom were children.

Today, the Pentagon offered condolence payments to the victims of that errant attack.

The Metropolitan Police officially declared the murder of Conservative MP Sir David Amess in Essex to be a terrorist incident, and put Counter Terrorism Policing in charge of the investigation.

“The fatal stabbing in Leigh-on-Sea has tonight been declared as a terrorist incident,” by Deputy Assistant Commissioner Dean Haydon, the Met announced late Friday, adding that “The early investigation has revealed a potential motivation linked to Islamist extremism.”

The Counter Terrorism Command is “working closely with colleagues from the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit (ERSOU) and Essex Police,” the Met added.

Amess was attacked and stabbed multiple times on Friday, during a weekly meeting with constituents at the Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea. The authorities identified the suspect only as “a 25-year-old British man” who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody at a police station in Essex.

Within hours, however, the British media said the suspect was “of African appearance” and identified him as being of Somali origin. His name has not been released.

Police said they believe the suspect acted alone, and are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident at this time. Officers are currently searching two addresses in the London area as part of the investigation.

Amess was a prominent and popular Tory MP, who represented Basildon from 1983 to 1997, and Southend West since then. He is the second serving MP to be stabbed to death in the past five years, after Labour MP Jo Cox was killed in June 2016.

Oct. 16 (UPI) -- An Iranian appeals court has upheld the sentence for Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a British-Iranian aid worker accused of plotting against the country's Islamist government.

Zaghari-Ratcliffe was arrested in 2016 along with other dual citizens. A project manager with Thomson Reuters Foundation charity, she was taken into custody by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The guard accused her of being a "main ringleader of hostile institutions who had been involved in criminal activities over the past years under the auspices of the foreign governments' media and espionage services."

At the time of her arrest, she was attempting to board a flight from Tehran to Britain with her then 22-month-old daughter, Gabriella. She was initially sentenced to five years in prison for planning a "soft overthrow" of the Iranian government. In 2017, she faced additional charges.

A Twitter account from the campaign seeking Zaghari-Ratcliffe's release said on Saturday that her appeal on a more recent set of charges had failed.

Zaghari-Ratcliffe was imprisoned for five years in 2016, spending her final year on parole at her parents' home in Tehran, reports the BBC. She completed her term in March only to face new charges carrying a one-year prison term for "propaganda against the system."

Her husband, Richard Ratcliffe, told the news outlet that she's now waiting for the call summoning her back to prison and was "traumatized at the thought of having to go back to jail."

Ratcliffe has not seen his wife in person since she was imprisoned in 2016 and their daughter has been living with him in the U.K. since 2019, according to the BBC. He has said his wife is being used as a bargaining chip over a $550 million debt Iran claims Britain owes it for an incomplete tank deal.

U.K. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss took to Twitter to denounce what she called the "baseless charges against Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe."

"There are no credible grounds to continue to hold her and she must be released permanently," she said. "I will do all I can to help Nazanin and her family."
