“Self-pity is satanic” – Self-pity and self-consciousness are both often the fruit of self-love. Self-love is Satanic! It is the opposite to the Agape love that Christ teaches. Agape love is self-sacrificing like Christ on the Cross. Self-love is the lowest form of love that is often called lust.
If someone is trying to teach you that you have to love yourself before you can love your neighbour, get away from them. They are not speaking the truth but new-age psychobabble.
