Jordanian MP hails Egyptian who killed three IDF soldiers

JNS, June 11, 2023:

Jordanian lawmaker Khalil Atieh on Saturday praised the Egyptian “martyr” who killed three IDF soldiers in a terrorist attack on June 3, Israeli media reported.

Speaking at the Arab Parliament in Cairo, Atieh requested that a Sura from the Koran be read in honor of Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, who last week shot dead Sgt. Lia Ben-Nun, 19, Staff Sgt. Uri Iluz, 20 and Staff Sgt. Ohad Dahan, 20, along the Sinai border.

“We congratulate Egypt, and its martyr Mohamed Salah,” said Atieh. “I request from this honorable council that we stand for a reading of al-fatiha, for the souls of the martyrs from the Arab and Muslim people who died a holy death for the sake of Palestine.”…

I would imagine that he would be very grateful to hear that as the flames of Hell burn around him.

Israel’s Army Radio reported that the Egyptian policeman had in his possession six magazines for his rifle, a Koran and a knife. The IDF believes that the presence of the Koran suggests that Ibrahim was motivated by Islamic religious extremism, the report said….

Can it be called extremism when there are tens, if not hundreds of millions of them?

The Islamic aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is unanimously ignored among Western analysts. Yet for the foes of Israel, it’s central. Find out why this matters in The Palestinian Delusion.

UK: Muslim had jihad handbook, caught stockpiling chemicals

for making explosives, says he rejects terrorism

Bhatti said: “I am totally opposed to terrorism. I’ve got no interest in terrorism. I don’t want it to turn into a religious lecture, but God has honoured human beings by putting them above angels. God has ruled that if you kill one person you kill the whole of mankind.”

That’s Qur’an 5:32. Then Qur’an 5:33 calls for killing, crucifying, or amputating the hands and feet on opposite sides of people who wage war against Allah and his messenger. Bhatti may not be lying outright, however. He likely thinks of his actions as a jihad for the sake of Allah. That’s not terrorism. What the infidels do in their own defense — that’s terrorism.

Businessman, 49, caught stockpiling chemicals in a rented storage unit after he took

his laptop to a repair shop where they uncovered an 173-page ‘handbook’ including

sections on ‘Jihad and Martyrdom’ and making explosives is jailed for eight years

by Louis Goss, Daily Mail,
June 12, 2023:

A financial analyst who was caught stockpiling bomb-making materials after taking his laptop to a computer repair shop was today jailed for eight years.

Asad Bhatti
, 49, was convicted of having a stash of chemicals and circuity that could be used to make explosives at his home in Redhill, Surrey after police received a tip-off from a computer repair shop.

Detectives also found an improvised explosive device and a chemical mixture described as ‘black powder’ inside a storage unit that was rented out by the ‘intelligent’ and ‘well-educated’ businessman.

His computer was revealed to contain a ‘significant library’ of bomb-making instruction manuals alongside a 173-page ‘handbook’ he had compiled, with sections on ‘martyrdom’ and ‘jihad’.

The ex-University of Greenwich student was described as having a ‘deep-seated’ hatred for a group of Muslims he identified as ‘The Hypocrites’ as well as others based on their race and sexuality….

Alongside sections on martyrdom and jihad, Bhatti’s unfinished 173-page manual, titled The Mu’min’s Handbook, also contained chapters called ‘a simple guide to explosives’, ‘hand-to-hand combat’ and ‘handguns and sniper rifles’.

The 20th chapter entitled The Munaafiqun (The Hypocrites) identified a perceived worldwide ‘enemy’ to Islam and its ‘true adherents’.

He wrote that the ‘evil human beings’ included ‘corrupt heads of Governments, Black Magicians, Religious Scholars’….

Bhatti categorised events to homosexuals and to black people in disparaging and unpleasant terms.

The former engineering and business management student denied that he was either racist or homophobic….

The 49-year-old admitted he dug a deep hole in his garden to pour away nitroglycerine he kept in his fridge but claimed he was just carrying out experiments at home….

A password protected, 173-page word document was also uncovered called ‘The Mu’min’s Handbook’, written by Bhatti himself.

‘The contents appear to include a number of chapters on Islam and the Islamic faith,’ Ms Robinson said.

‘His handbook, his believers’ handbook, goes on to include sections on ‘Jihad and Martyrdom’, followed immediately thereafter by sections on ‘a simple guide to explosives’, ‘hand-to-hand combat’, and ‘handguns and sniper rifles’.

An excel spreadsheet titled ‘Explosives Data’ listing 80 items against their individual costs was found. ‘This is the defendant setting out what might be needed and how much it might cost to set up a lab and manufacture explosives.’

As a result of these findings, police arrested Bhatti at his home address on January 8….

Ms Robinson added: ‘There was categorisation of each event as being suitable either for the hijabi Munaafiqun dogs (male) or the Munaafiqun sisters (female).

‘He has entered either yes or no for the particular events are listed. The document refers in some of the categorisation of events to homosexuals and to black people in disparaging and unpleasant terms.

‘His views on homosexuality were bound up with his views on the Hypocrites of Islam. He was asked about this document in interview. He said that if homosexuals were ‘doing something wrong in the eyes of God they’re answerable to God’.

‘He said he didn’t hate people for their race or their colour, but he does hate the munaafiquns. He said: ‘These people if they had it their way they would try to change the religion, and for example, they would have like homosexual imams.’

‘He said it was God who instructed him to view the munafiq as the enemy, and to beware of them. He said: ‘My hate for the munaafiqun is part of my faith.’

The excel spreadsheet features columns titled ‘Fundamentals of Faith and Practice’, ‘Essential Knowledge’, ‘The Need of the Time’, ‘Jihad Training’, and ‘Jihad’. The latter two columns featured subheadings such as ‘Handgun training’, ‘Advanced Sniper Training’, ‘Making Detonators’ and ‘Targets’….

Mr Henry said: ‘What is your mindset so far as killing people is concerned?’

Bhatti said: ‘It doesn’t come into my mindset. I am totally opposed to terrorism. I’ve got no interest in terrorism. I don’t want it to turn into a religious lecture, but God has honoured human beings by putting them above angels. God has ruled that if you kill one person you kill the whole of mankind.’…

At the time of his arrest he was working at Gatwick airport as a part-time executive driver….

30-year-old Israeli civilian and three soldiers shot and wounded in terror attack near the Reihan Crossing in northern Samaria.

By David Rosenberg, World Israel News

Five people were wounded in a terrorist shooting attack in northern Samaria Tuesday afternoon.

The attack occurred at the Efes Junction, between the Israeli towns of Mevo Dotan and Hermesh when terrorists opened fire on an IDF vehicle.

Four IDF soldiers who were inside of the vehicle at the time of the attack were moderately wounded in the shooting.

A fifth victim, a male civilian roughly 30 years of age and a father of four, was wounded while he was walking near the junction. He is also listed in moderate condition.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and an IDF medical team were dispatched to the scene to treat the wounded before evacuating them to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera.

Israeli security forces have been deployed to the area, and have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.

Samaria Regional Council Chairman Yossi Dagan took aim at the government following the attack, demanding they limit Arab travel through two key local checkpoints.

“This serious incident, with multiple people wounded, just outside of a crossing near the traffic junction where Meir Tamari, may God avenge his blood, was murdered just two weeks ago.”

“We begged for years – and especially after that terror attack we begged and screamed – to stop abandoning us: close the Hermesh checkpoint and close the Mevo Dotan checkpoint.”

Two weeks ago, a Palestinian Arab terrorist shot and killed 32-year-old Meir Tamari, a married father of two, outside of the town of Hermesh, near the scene of today’s attack.

“Whoever made the unfortunate decision to reopen the checkpoint at the entrance to Harmesh put our residents’ lives at risk. They are 2nd class citizens in their own country.”

“This neglect will not stop with us, because the wave of terror is coming from the whole area of northern Samaria. We all wish the wounded a speedy recovery. The incident is still ongoing, but we will not let it continue. We demand answers from the government now, stop giving us the runaround, stop neglecting us.”

Dozens of migrants dead, 100 rescued as boat sinks off Greece

At least 78 migrants died after their fishing boat sank off the Peloponnese, Greece's coastguard said Wednesday, as fears mounted that the death toll could rise to hundreds.

Some 100 people were rescued after the boat capsized in international waters in the Ionian Sea in an operation complicated by strong winds, the coastguard said.

A migration ministry source told AFP that according to the coastguard there could have been "hundreds" of people on the fishing boat.

"We fear there will be a very large number of missing persons," the official said.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) acknowledged fears of a large number of missing people, noting in a tweet: "We fear more lives were lost. Initial reports suggest up to 400 people were onboard."

Other Greek officials said survivors had claimed up to 750 people may have been crammed on the fishing boat.

Greece's head of state, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, immediately travelled to the port of Kalamata to confer with senior officials on the rescue and accommodation response.

Greece is currently under an interim government until June 25 elections. The leaders of the two main parties, former conservative prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and leftist rival Alexis Tsipras, suspended campaign speeches scheduled for Wednesday.

The worst migrant tragedy in Greece was in June 2016 when at least 320 people were listed as dead or missing, according to AFP records going back to 1993.

The IOM until Wednesday had listed 48 migrants missing in the eastern Mediterranean so far this year, compared to 378 a year earlier.

Along with navy vessels, Wednesday's rescue operation included an army plane and helicopter as well as six other boats that were in the area.

"Since very early Wednesday, an extensive rescue operation is underway off Pylos, after a fishing boat capsized with a large number of migrants onboard," the coastguard said.

Afghan farmers despair as locusts plague precious crops

Hundreds of thousands of locusts have descended on crops in northern Afghanistan (Wakil KOHSAR)

Hundreds of thousands of locusts have descended on crops in northern Afghanistan, under the helpless gaze of farmers and their families already stalked by famine.

In the village of Kandali in northern Balkh, one of eight affected provinces in the country's breadbasket, a staggering swarm of grey insects has amassed on a fallow wheat field.

After feasting on the harvest they laid eggs to hatch anew next spring, continuing a cycle of destruction in a nation where nine in 10 families already struggle to afford food, according to the UN.

"They eat everything that is green: wheat, peas, sesame," Baz Mohammad, the representative of Kandali village, told AFP.

Desperate farmers used nets to sweep up the plague of Moroccan Locusts -- one of the world's most voracious pests -- before burying them in trenches, but their numbers are still multiplying.

"We walk with hungry stomachs to kill the locusts. If we don't kill them, our agriculture will be ruined," Mohammad said.

This year's outbreak could destroy 1.2 million tonnes of wheat, a quarter of the annual harvest, at a loss of up to $480 million, according to the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Afghanistan is facing its third consecutive year of drought, with farmers in Kandali reporting no rains since March, which could have helped wash away the bugs.

"Harvest forecasts this year are the best we have seen for the last three years," FAO Afghanistan representative Richard Trenchard said last month.

"But this outbreak threatens to destroy all these recent gains and dramatically worsen the food insecurity situation later this year and into next year."

The agency said conditions were "perfect" for locusts with "overgrazing, drought and very limited control measures".

The last two major infestations, which took place 20 and 40 years ago, cost the country an estimated eight percent and 25 percent of production, respectively.

That's interesting. 3 major infestations exactly 20 years apart! Will they be ready for 2043?

Are locust plagues an act of God? Is this a repetitive message to Afghanistan?
