6 Bahá’í homes destroyed and 20 hectares of land confiscated

by Iranian government agents

BIC GENEVA — Some 200 Iranian government agents destroyed six homes and confiscated over 20 hectares of land belonging to Bahá’ís in the village of Roushankouh, in Mazandaran province, the News Service has learned.

The government agents used pepper spray to disperse people and gunshots were heard during the operation.

What was the Bahá’ís' crime? Not being Muslim!

The Baháʼí Faith is a relatively new religion teaching the essential worth of all religions and the unity of all people. Established by Baháʼu'lláh in the 19th century, it initially developed in Iran and parts of the Middle East, where it has faced ongoing persecution since its inception. Wikipedia

The premise on which the Baháʼí Faith functions assumes that either all religions are true, which is impossible, or that all religions are false, which is wrong - it doesn't explain Jesus Christ.

This latest move follows weeks of intensifying persecution of the Baháʼís: over 100 have been either raided or arrested in recent days and dozens others have been targeted since June.

“Given the Iranian government policy documents about persecuting Bahá’ís, the international community must act immediately before it is too late,” said Diane Ala’i, representative of the Bahá’í International Community (BIC) to the United Nations in Geneva.

Report: 40 criminal Afghans hijacked evacuation planes

Translated from “Bericht: 40 kriminelle Afghanen kaperten Evakuierungsflieger”

DTS News Agency,
August 5, 2022

Forty criminals from Afghanistan boarded the evacuation aircraft from Kabul to Germany in August last year. This is what the news magazine “Focus” reports, citing internal reports for the Bundestag investigative committee that is examining the chaotic withdrawal of soldiers, diplomats and Afghan local staff from the Central Asian country.

According to Focus, the criminal Afghans were only identified after landing in Germany. Six men were wanted with German arrest warrants and immediately taken into custody. They are accused of rape, drug trafficking and supporting terrorist groups.

The majority of the previously convicted Afghans who were flown out had been deported from Germany years ago, reports “Focus.” Immediately after landing, they made new applications for asylum. According to internal committee reports, the men at Kabul Airport used force to gain access to the evacuation planes. For the rescue of around 100 Germans who were outside the airport grounds last August, the federal government is said to have paid the Taliban a high protection fee, reports “Focus,” citing Berlin security circles. With the help of the USA, a standstill agreement was reached with the Islamist militias in order not to endanger the helicopter operations of the Bundeswehr’s elite unit, the Special Forces Command (KSK).

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense did not want to confirm or deny money payments when asked by “Focus.” “For reasons of operational security” no statements are made about military action, it said.

SALMAN Rushdie has been stabbed on stage today in New York - after years of death threats for the British writer's novel 'The Satanic Verses'.

His alleged attacker stormed the stage in New York while the novelist was giving a speech at the Chautauqua Institution.

Salman Rushdie has been stabbed in New York today

The horror attack took place as the Indian-born writer was being introduced.

Suddenly, a man ran on stage and began stabbing him in the neck.

Pictures from the scene show Rushdie, 75, lying on the stage as a crowd surrounds him.

His condition is still unknown.

A man reportedly stormed the stage and began attacking the author

A picture from the scene shows Rushdie being taken on a stretcher to a waiting air ambulance.

Panicked crowds were evacuated from the theatre immediately after the attack.

Reports say a suspect is in custody following the attack. Pictures reportedly show the suspect being led away by police at the scene.

New York State Police confirmed they are investigating the attack. "State Police are investigating an attack on author Salman Rushdie prior to a speaking event at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY," it said.

"On August 12, 2022, at about 11 am, a male suspect ran up onto the stage and attacked Rushdie and an interviewer.

"Rushdie suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital. His condition is not yet known. The interviewer suffered a minor head injury.

"A State Trooper assigned to the event immediately took the suspect into custody. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

"More information will be released when it is available."

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said: "Thank you to the swift response of @nyspolice & first responders following today's attack of author Salman Rushdie.

"Our thoughts are with Salman & his loved ones following this horrific event. I have directed State Police to further assist however needed in the investigation."

Rushdie’s book The Satanic Verses has been banned in Iran since 1988, as many Muslims consider it to be blasphemous.

One year later, Iran’s late leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or edict, calling for Rushdie’s death. A bounty of more than $3m has also been offered for anyone who kills Rushdie.

He has continued to receive death threats and was forced to live in hiding under constant armed guard for nine years to keep him safe.

The Booker Prize winner shot to fame in 1981 with Midnight's Children - which went on to sell more than a million copies in the UK alone.

In 2012, a semi-official Iranian religious foundation raised the bounty for Rushdie from $2.8 million to $3.3 million.

At the time, Rushdie dismissed the threat, saying there was no evidence of any interest in the reward.

Born into a liberal Muslim family, Rushdie later became an atheist.

He was knighted for services to literature in 2007.

Rushdie is likely to survive, but may lose an eye.
