Electric vehicles (EVs) can lose up to 30 per cent of their range in freezing temperatures, according to a U.S. firm that tested range loss in 7,000 cars.

Seattle-based Recurrent measured range loss in 7,000 EVs at temperatures between –7 C and –1 C.

At the low end, the Jaguar I-Pace had an estimated range loss of three per cent, while the Volkswagen ID.4 had a 30 per cent range loss at those temperatures.

Liz Najman, a researcher with Recurrent, said EVs lose range during the winter because of the energy it takes to heat the cabin so it's comfortable for the driver and passengers.

Because electric motors are more efficient than gas engines, they can't draw on wasted heat to warm up the inside of the vehicle. 

"If you've ever touched the hood of a gas car, you know it's really hot after it's been driving," Najman said.

"And that's because gasoline engines are super inefficient, and so they create all of this waste heat. And when you turn the car on in a gas car, you just funnel all of that heat from the engine to the cabin."

Importance of charging infrastructure

EVs have to generate heat in other ways, which means using more energy from the battery that won't go toward range. Some vehicles, however, use more efficient heat pumps to get the cabin warm, which means there's more energy left over from the battery to propel the vehicle forward.

Steve Holmik of Sudbury, Ont., drives a Tesla Model Y and said he can lose up to 50 per cent of his range if outside temperatures are very cold.

"Around town, the range impact is negligible," Holmik said. "It's nice and warm when you get inside. It's no different to essentially driving a gas vehicle."

Holmik said the winter range loss could be an issue for people who drive long distances in the winter, especially if they travel in areas further north, where charging infrastructure is lacking.

"Especially once you get north of Sudbury, the infrastructure just isn't there," he said. "Like if you go to Timmins, you'd be lucky to find a Level 2 charger."

But Holmik said he can greatly improve his winter range by preheating his car while it's still plugged in at his house or using a fast charger. He said he can improve range loss by up to 20 per cent by doing that.

So, that would mean he still only gets 30% less range in very cold weather. It's a pity they didn't measure range loss at -25C. That would be really interesting, especially for Canadians who get stuck in snowstorms or avalanches for 24 hours or more.

Some vehicles, like Teslas, also have a feature called battery preconditioning, where the car will warm up the battery before reaching a charger, which speeds up charging times.

CBCs bias

Notice in the chart above that the VW ID4 wasn't the only car that lost 30% of its range in cold weather. The Ford Mustang Mach-E also lost 30%, and the Chevy Bolt lost 32%. Why CBC completely ignored these two American-made vehicles speaks volumes about CBCs built-in bias.

At least, Jaguar has shown that it is possible to minimize the loss of range to a negligible amount if the will is there.

There are various levels of concern that everybody watching the White House should have. One level deals with all of Hunter Biden’s business connections in the Ukraine. But perhaps the greatest concern should be Joe Biden’s connection with China. The influence of the Chinese Communist Party across the United States is more significant than most people realize. One need not be a sworn conspiracy theorist to see clear conflicts of interest between implementing effective US policy in the South China Sea and deep connections between Biden and the Chinese government.

I don't know anything about Jesse Waters, in fact, I had never heard of him before this week. But he has a very clear perspective on Joe Biden and it deserves to be listened to. He refers to Deep State as The National Security State.

In Joe Biden’s long career in the House and Senate, he was not reputed to be a corrupt member of Congress. The problems may have begun to take shape when he became a heartbeat away from the Oval Office. When Biden became Vice President, he certainly seemed to have all of his faculties in tact. So, it would be a weak argument to say that he was not aware of what was going on during his tenure as Vice President. He looked fine until 2016.

And during the years of 2008 – 2016, it has become crystal clear that Joe’s son, Hunter was monetizing his Dad’s connections very effectively – in Ukraine, China, and elsewhere.

It didn’t seem like a risky move as very little international focus was given to Ukraine or China in those years, except for 2014 when Ukraine hit the headlines for a few months. But during the Trump Presidency, when Donald Trump placed China in the headlights of his international financial policy, the whole scheme of Hunter Biden began to unravel. Joe became an effective liar in order to save his son, Hunter.

Joe Biden has actually lived a rather tragic life on a personal level. He lost a wife and child in a car crash, and then years later, lost his son, Beau to illness. It’s actually rather logical that he would do everything he could to help his children. But, his son was overstepping the line in such a stark way that it was just a question of time till it was unearthed.

China is almost certainly the #1 threat to the West and free world. What the best way to deal with that threat is a very interesting question. But a compromised commander in chief is exactly the wrong way to start off. Donald Trump’s legacy as President will certainly be tainted due to the messy end and the Jan. 6th riot. But there is a very good probability that Donald Trump will be remembered as the first President who refocused the world on the threat that China posed to the world.

A FORMER child soldier killed a stranger in a vicious attack in front of horrified shoppers.

Tedi Fanta Hagos, 27, murdered Stephen Dempsey, 60, by jumping on him from behind with a blade at night.

Two skateboarder witnesses hit Tedi with their boards to try disarm him and helped to restrain him in July 2021 on Oxford Street, London.

Mr Dempsey, who was born in Belfast, suffered four stab wounds and died in hospital later that night from a chest wound.

Prosecutor Caroline Carberry KC told the Old Bailey Fanta was "seen carrying out a ferocious, random and unprovoked attack on a helpless and unsuspecting member of the public".

She said: "His victim could have been anyone who was in close proximity to him during the course of that day in central London.

"Sadly for Stephen Dempsey and his family, it was him."

Because Fanta, who was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, was deemed unfit to stand trial, jurors did not have to determine his guilt - only if they were sure he committed the acts he was accused of, Ms Carberry said.

They deliberated for less than an hour on Wednesday to find he had had a knife and carried out the murder.

The court was told Eritrean-born Fanta, who arrived in Britain in 2014, had convictions for criminal damage and assaulting a police officer and emergency worker and was on bail at the time of the killing.

He had been arrested on June 18, 2021 for "brandishing a saw" in Swansea and then bailed to appear at Swansea Magistrates' Court, the trial of facts heard.

Good grief! 

Mr Dempsey's sister Kathleen Dempsey has expressed concerns about how and why her brother was killed, the court was also told.

In a victim impact statement, Ms Dempsey said her brother was an "unassuming" man who had lived in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex since he was a child.

She said the retired civil servant had a "brilliant mind" and a "dry sense of humour" and loved live music and languages, particularly French.

Mitigating, Patrick Upward KC said Fanta was conscripted into the Eritrean army aged 12 or 13.

In the years of conflict that followed, the defendant was shot and tortured, Mr Upward said.

He eventually sought sanctuary in the UK and was granted refugee status but "by then the damage had been done".

Mr Upward said Fanta was a "very, very ill young man".

Judge Michael Topolski KC handed Fanta a hospital order without limit of time.

He said Fanta launched a "random and wholly unprovoked attack" and praised passers-by who went to Mr Dempsey's aid.

He said Fanta had made seven court appearances in the past and been sectioned in 2020, adding: "This defendant slipped through the system unnoticed, uncared for, untreated and very dangerous."

How could an ex-child soldier slip through the system unnoticed? The system seems pretty pathetic.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan said: "My heart goes out to Stephen's family, especially his mother, who lost him in such terrible circumstances.

"While I know there is precious little comfort in the wake of this awful story, I hope they will take solace knowing that people tried to help Stephen when he so needed it.

"Those two brave members of the public should know how greatly their actions were and are appreciated by Stephen's family.

This is not the first time I have heard of skateboarders risking their lives for a stranger. Check this out!

"The judge formally recognised their actions, and two other members of the public, with commendations for their bravery.

"I would also like to thank my team of detectives, who were absolutely determined to obtain Stephen's family justice."

A radical Islamic cleric was convicted of recruiting and providing support for ISIS, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced on Thursday.

Shaikh Abdullah Faisal, 59, an Islamic State recruiter and marriage broker was found guilty of “far reaching crimes” of terrorism following New York state’s first-ever terrorism trial, according to the DA’s office.

Faisal, a Jamaica native who prosecutors described as “one of the most influential English speaking terrorists of our times,” preached violent jihad and pushed for ISIS recruitment on his social media platforms and tried to inspire others to commit acts of terror themselves in ISIS’ name.

He additionally provided instructions on how potential fighters could best travel to Syria and Iraq undetected and worked as a matchmaker for women looking to get hitched to Islamic militants.

Faisal was arrested in Jamaica in 2017 and then extradited to New York City following a joint investigation by the NYPD’s Intelligence Bureau and the Manhattan DA’s Office’s Counter Terrorism Program — which was established in 2015 to investigate extremists and thwart terror plots, according to the DA’s office.

In 2016, Faisal began communicating with an undercover NYPD officer via email, text and video chat from his home in Jamaica in a bid to encourage her to travel to the Middle East to join ISIS and carry out attacks. He also offered to introduce the woman — who was posing as a would-be jihadist — to a suitable husband within the terror group.

The militant, who previously went by Trevor William Forrest, urged the undercover officer to listen to his online speeches and lectures in which he encouraged followers to wage jihad against enemies of Islam and even kill Americans, Jews and Hindus.

“The way forward is not the ballot. The way forward is the bullet,” he said in one speech, according to his indictment. In another, he urged followers to “cut the throats” of nonbelievers with machetes.

Faisal was previously convicted in the United Kingdom in 2003 for inciting murder and using racially charged, hateful rhetoric to support terrorist ideologies….

And, obviously, didn't spend all that long in prison. Lets hope he is not allowed to resume his mad activities again.

Days after Islamists were seen chanting ‘sar tan se juda’ slogans in the city of Indore, another viral video has gone viral where they can be heard talking about burning down the city.

A man, dressed in a beige jacket, could be heard saying, “The police told us that they are taking action against the accused and handed over a copy of the FIR to an Islamic cleric. They also claimed to have launched a manhunt.”

“If action is taken against the accused, then, it is fine. Else, we will take step-by-step action. We will start with jail bharo andolan and later burn down the city of Indore. We do not give a damn.”

Amidst chants of Insha’Allah, he continued, “Now, everyone retire to your homes and wait for the police action for the next 2 days. If the police fails, then, we will start with the jail bharo andolan.”

A man from the crowd yelled that the protest march must commence after Jumma Namaz. While hailing himself as a ‘lion’, another man wearing a headgear claimed that the so-called blasphemy accused are lynchers and consumers of a swine’s urine.

At that point, the man in beige jacket suggested that they will then burn down the city of Indore if they are not happy with police action, they don’t care, a statement that found much appreciation with the mob.

“We are not ready to do such a thing just today but till the end of time to safeguard the honour of Prophet Muhammad,” he announced amidst chants of ‘Allah hu Akbar.’

It must be mentioned that several Bajrang Dal workers were falsely accused of disrespecting Islam and committing blasphemy by extremists after they recited Hanuman Chalisa to protest against the film ‘Pathaan’ in Indore.

‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogan raised in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city

On January 25, Vishwa Hindu Parishad national spokesperson Vinod Bansal took to Twitter to share two videos, wherein several people were seen raising the cry for beheadings with the controversial Islamist slogan of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’.…

In both videos, Muslim men, including young children, can be heard shouting “Gustakh-e-Rasool ki Ek hi saza, sar tan se Juda, sar tan se Juda.”

The slogan translates to, “There is only one punishment for being disrespectful to Rasool (Prophet Muhammad), their head separated from their torso, their head separated from the torso.”…

Indore seems to be a university city with a population of about 2 million in the city and 3.5 million in the urban area.

Does a Saudi national count as a “white supremacist”? On Monday, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced that Bader Alzahrani, a Saudi national who is in the United States on a student visa, has been charged with stealing a school bus and transporting it across state lines. But this is more than just a vehicle theft: Alzahrani made a number of statements suggesting that he’s a jihad terrorist. But since Saudis are generally considered “white,” will the feds call this “white supremacist terrorism”? Don’t put it past them.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey last Thursday, Alzahrani “knowingly and intentionally received, possessed, concealed, stored, and disposed of a motor vehicle, namely a 2020 Chevrolet School Bus.” Alzahrani is accused of stealing the bus in Essex County, N.J., and driving it into Pennsylvania, where he lives.

Far more ominously, however, an unoccupied residential home across the street from the parking lot from which the bus was stolen was broken into. A backpack was found in the broken-into house, containing Alzahrani’s Saudi passport and a number of “other items that appeared to belong to Alzahrani.” Among these items were journals that contained entries in both English and Arabic. The entries were hair-raising.

Alzahrani wrote: “Why didn’t you slaughter the police officer who threw the Quran?” And: “This is a war, and there will be losses, and collateral losses. … It is a war and y’all started, feel the rage.” The war he had in mind would be extremely bloody: “Destruction of the new world and the earth will be destroyed from all sides.” It was a religious war: “God I am ready for your orders. I want to live the rest of my life to serve you and the religion.” Alzahrani also wrote: “Blood, blood, destruction, destruction. Allah.”

Amid all this, Alzahrani had time to throw in a bit of antisemitism: “Jews control everything,” he wrote, and “F*** each and every Jewish person.” Unfortunately for the feds’ “white supremacist” hunters, he added: “F*** you privileged whitey.” According to the complaint, “the Journals also included entries concerning ‘Jihad’ and how Alzahrani did not intend to return to Saudi Arabia.” He also doesn’t seem to have placed a whole lot of emphasis on his studies, despite being in the United States on a student visa: “In or around October 2022, Alzahrani left the university in which he was enrolled and was reported missing.”

Pakistan: Houses of minority Hindus, Christians, and Shias

Authorities in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi have demolished houses of a minority community, a Hindu and a Christian family, who were living in the area for the past 70 years.

As per the sources, at least five houses were demolished in the Cantonment area of Rawalpindi on January 27 that belonged to a Hindu family, a Christian family, and the Shias. Their belongings were thrown on the streets in the neighbourhood.

The Hindu family was forced to take shelter in a nearby temple, whereas the Christian family and Shias were forced to live without any shelter. Sources reveal that the victims’ families tried to take a stay order from the court, but authorities used force to demolish their houses.

A Hindu victim said, “They are mafias and came in a group of at least 100 people. They even harassed us, attacked us as we tried to counter them. They are so powerful that no FIR was registered at the police station”.

He added, “We tried to oppose them in a court, but the Cantonment Board has only one judge, Naveed Akthar, who takes their favour. We were having all the papers as we have been living here for over 70 years. They have not given us any notice and no time to save our household goods. We have no option but to take the family to a temple”.

Of course, there were no honest neighbours willing to admit that the families have been there for several decades.

Minorities in Pakistan have been facing persecution for the past several decades. The authorities, police and even judiciary remain mute spectators on the harassment of minorities in the country.

Speaking to ANI, Dr Amjad Ayub Mirza, an expert on Pakistan’s Affairs said, “Persecution of Hindus and minorities in Pakistan is not something that is new to us. Since the inception of this illegal and fake country that was created in the name of religion by dividing the living body of Hindustan, we have seen persecution of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Shins now, and has been at the forefront of Pakistan’s atrocities against its own people.”

There are innumerable incidents of persecution of minorities in Pakistan, especially for abduction and forced conversion of young girls….

Enraged camel turns on taunting man, tramples him to death in shocking video

Footage captured the shocking moment an angry camel fatally trampled a man who punched it at a children’s camp in Russia.

“The animal did not appreciate such treatment,” local media reported regarding the deadly incident, which occurred last month at the Beryozka recreation centre in Omsk, Siberia, per East2West news.

The fiasco occurred after a watchman named Yury, 51, struck the dromedary while attempting to move it, causing it to become enraged and attack him, local media reported.

In the disturbing footage, the guard can be seen walking up to the double-humped Bactrian camel — which can weigh over 1,100 pounds — and yanking on its reins. However, the animal, named Vasya, refuses to budge, after which Yuri punches him in the face. He then tries to get the camel to move a second time, whereupon Vasya wheels around and grabs his assailant with his teeth, then flings him around like a ragdoll.

After getting mauled and trampled for a protracted period, the guard can be seen lying motionless in the now-blood-stained snow while the camel continues to prod at him.

The watchman, named Yuri, could be seen punching the camel in the clip.

The dromedary proceeded to maul and trample the watchman to death.

The camel could be seen tossing Yuri around like a ragdoll.

The clip concludes with a white car arriving at the grisly scene, prompting the critter to pause his assault.

However, by that point, the watchman had reportedly sustained trauma to his head and body. He was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Prior to the attack, the animal had reportedly been described as peaceful and was often around children sans incident.

Some sources blamed the watchman for provoking the beast by punching him. “The man paid with his life after hitting the animal in the face,” local sources said, per E2W news.

Bactrian camels can weigh over 1,100 pounds.

The man was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Nonetheless, authorities decided to put the camel down to prevent future attacks. Law enforcement is investigating whether the animal was held legally on camp property.

In a similar incident last March, two men were killed by a rampaging camel that escaped from a petting zoo in Tennessee.

The Biden administration has joined Germany in sending advanced battle tanks – the Abrams M1 Tank to Ukraine.

According to a report in Politico:

“The U.S. is planning to send Kyiv the Abrams main battle tank in its more advanced M1A2 configuration, rather than the older A1 version that the military has in storage, according to three people with knowledge of the deliberations.”

“But the 31 tanks slated for Ukraine will not include the secret armor mix that makes the Army’s newest version so lethal, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive conversations.”

I have to confess, I'm not a real Glenn Beck fan, but this rant is worth listening to:

These tanks, along with 14 German Leopard 2 tanks marks a serious escalation in the conflict between NATO and Russia.

Russia’s response has been to threaten nuclear war against the West. Russia views the situation as a direct threat. After all, the last time German tanks rolled across Ukraine towards Russia they belonged to Nazi Germany. Russians have a long memory, NATO knows this.

Will the tanks have the ability to change the course of the war – in the short term yes, but unless the Western powers provide unlimited lethal weaponry, the Russian war machine will eventually win. So what does NATO hope to gain by sending these weapons to the front lines against Russia?

The only answer that is plausible, is a wider war.

In the 1990s and early 2000s the conversation was focused on the idea of a uni-polar world order based on US influence and might. However, with ascendency of Russia and China to the top of the global order, this uni-polar order crumbled and instead a new global order emerged. This new order rested on the power of OPEC+, BRICS, positioned against a decaying Western world.

The West has unfortunately slowed down. While it’s still formidable, its leaders understand they cannot keep spending money to prop up their citizenry forever. After all, the US may have to borrow money from China in order to cover social security checks. This is why the West wants to stop Russia in Ukraine at all costs. If it doesn’t Russia and its fellow BRICS countries will be seen as the real leaders of the world.

Already this has played out with Saudi Arabia entertaining the idea of joining a sort of BRICS+ conglomerate. If this should happen, it would mark a crushing blow to the US.

Unfortunately for the world, the US and its allies appear hell-bent on exponentially expanding the war against Russia in order to attempt to hold back the inevitable. If this starts a world war – then so be it in their eyes. Better no world than the Russians and Chinese take it from them.

Complete and utter madness!
