Gender Omitted for First Time on Canadian Baby's Birth Certificate

Extreme-left ideology is making its way into government policy and practice in Canada at an astonishing pace.
Far-left governments in Ontario, Alberta, and now British Columbia as well as in Ottawa make for a breath-taking descent into extreme-left ideology.
By Ray Downs

UPI -- Canada's health department did not identify a baby's gender on birth documents because the parent wants the baby to decide which gender to identify with.

The Gender Free I.D. Coalition said Searyl Atli Doty did not undergo a gender inspection at the time of their birth. The coalition's stated vision is "to remove all gender/sex designations from identity documents."

The group says Searyl is the first baby to officially skip the process of getting a government-designated gender at birth.

God have mercy on that poor child. What a horrible thing 'their' parent has done to it. What a crazy world when a baby is referred to in the plural and the parent in the singular!

"It is up to Searyl to decide how they identify, when they are old enough to develop their own gender identity," Kori Doty, the child's parent, said in the statement. "I am not going to foreclose their choices based on an arbitrary assignment of gender at birth based on an inspection of their genitals."

Arbitrary - based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system. Here is where common sense is completely deserted. An inspection of the genitals is a factual method of determining one's sex. To deny that one's sex is determined by their genitals is arbitrary. It is also idiotic, if not outright insane.

Whopping big law-suits coming

Furthermore, the state doesn't assign gender designation, the baby's own body does. Does the state have a right to assign a gender that runs opposite to the obvious physical attributes of a child? Do you see some whopping big law-suits down the road when a state assigns a gender designation to a child in defiance of the child's physical attributes, who then grows up to be a person who wants to be the gender he was actually born with but can't because he's had gender reassignment surgeries, hormones and psychological counseling to convince him that he is not what he is?

Doty, a non-binary transgender person who prefers the "they" pronoun, said the decision to let Searyl decide their own gender was based on Doty's own experience.

"When I was born, doctors looked at my genitals and made assumptions about who I would be, and those assignments followed me and followed my identification throughout my life," Doty told the CBC. "Those assumptions were incorrect, and I ended up having to do a lot of adjustments since then."

Doty added: "I'm raising Searyl in such a way that until they have the sense of self and command of vocabulary to tell me who they are, I'm recognizing them as a baby and trying to give them all the love and support to be the most whole person that they can be outside of the restrictions that come with the boy box and the girl box."

The Gender Free I.D. Coalition said one way to help prevent problems regarding self-determining one's gender in the future is to remove gender identities from government identification from the beginning.

"Everybody's gendered identification starts with a birth certificate. The state ascribes a sex/gender marker at birth, and then 'certifies' that gender. But no one knows a baby's gender at birth since gender identity takes years to be known," the group says on its website, adding: "The only acceptable solution is to remove gender altogether, from all identity documents."

Good grief! And we Canadians think America has gone nuts! The Gender Free I.D. Coalition has the right to say what they believe, but for government officials to actually employ extreme-left ideology into policy and practice is outright insanity.

Muslim Woman in Full Hijab Charged with 14 Terrorism Charges in Toronto

I would like to know why a judge would allow an accused terrorist to be in his courtroom wearing a full-face veil? It's absurd! Obviously, CBC doesn't have an issue with it.

14 terrorism charges laid against woman for threatening

A woman accused of threatening employees at a Canadian Tire store in Toronto with a knife last month is now charged with terrorism-related offences, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police say.

Rehab Dughmosh, 32, had previously been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of possession of a weapon.

Dughmosh now faces 14 terror-related charges under Section 83.2 of the Criminal Code, federal Crown prosecutor Howard Piafsky told CBC News. The section bans "terrorist activity," whether it takes place "in or outside Canada."

Most of those charges mirror the woman's earlier charges, Piafsky said, but those actions are now alleged to have been undertaken "for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group."

The charges laid Tuesday include one of participating in terrorist activity.

That charge relates to Dughmosh allegedly travelling to Turkey and attempting to enter Syria in April 2016.

Last month, Dughmosh appeared in a Toronto court where she pledged her allegiance to ISIS.

"I am pledged to the leaders of the believers, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi," Dughmosh said in reference to the leader of the Islamic State.

When police arrived at the Cedarbrae Mall store last month, they were told a woman had threatened employees and a customer in the paint section with a golf club and a knife. One of the employees was injured, but the injuries were non-life-threatening, Toronto police said.

Asked Tuesday why Dughmosh would not have been able to plead guilty today, Piafsky replied:

"Before she pleads guilty, she has to make an informed choice and part of that would involve being provided with some disclosure and being able to look at it and review it."

He would not confirm whether a mental health assessment will take place.

Dughmosh continues to refuse legal counsel.

There can be little doubt that the woman is suffering from some form of mental illness. The question is which came first, the mental illness or the radicalization? There's a quote on my other blog (sidebar) that explains this:

“I came to the absolute conviction that it is impossible…impossible…for any human being to read the biography of Mohammed and believe in it, and then emerge a psychologically and mentally healthy person.”

3,000 Violent Extremists in Sweden, Majority have Islamist Motives – Security Police

© TT News Agency / Reuters

Sweden is home to some 3,000 violent extremists, the head of the security police has announced. Two-thirds have Islamist motives, while the others belong to far-right and far-left movements.

The numbers were revealed by Säpo chief Anders Thornberg during Almedalen Week, an annual political festival which takes place on the island of Gotland.

Elaborating on the figures, Thornberg stressed that although "few extremists" have the "will and ability" to carry out attacks, they must be found and closely followed.

"It's important that everyone in Sweden takes responsibility to end this trend," he said, as quoted by the Local.

Thornberg's comments come less than three weeks after he announced that the number of militant Islamists in Sweden had grown from "hundreds to thousands."

He went on to state that Säpo currently receives around 6,000 intelligence tip-offs per month regarding terrorism and extremism, compared to an average of 2,000 a month in 2012.

His comments follow an incident in April in which an Uzbek national who had expressed sympathies for jihadist groups, including Islamic State, plowed through pedestrians on a Stockholm shopping street, killing five and injuring 15 others.

Swedish national Osama Krayem has also been charged with committing terrorist murders over the 2016 Brussels Metro bombing.

Some 300 people from Sweden are known to have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join organizations such as IS since 2012, Säpo previously stated. Around 140 have since returned to Sweden and around 50 are said to have died abroad.

Meanwhile, Sweden has seen an increase in activity from far-right extremists in recent years with three sympathizers of the neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM) currently on trial in connection with a series of bomb incidents near Gothenburg.

Sweden’s threat assessment is currently at three - “elevated” - on a five-point scale. It has remained at that level since 2010.

Migrant Crisis Becoming Ever More Dire But EU Hapless and Haggard

Migrants set up camp in Italy’s Ventimiglia after being denied entry to France

A group of migrants have set up a new makeshift camp under an elevated road near Ventimiglia in northern Italy after police prevented their attempts to cross into France

The people at the camp have just blankets and cardboard sheets on the ground to sleep on, using the elevated road as shelter in case of rain.

One of the refugees said in a video taken by RT’s Ruptly video agency that he had to pay $3,000 (around €2,600) to traffickers to cross the Mediterranean from Libya into Italy, a perilous journey made by around 500,000 people since 2014.

“If you don't pay money, they can shoot you to death, or maybe they can cut your legs; maybe they will cut your hand. Many things they can do to you,” he said.

In late June, local authorities in Ventimiglia ordered the shutting of a large camp on the bank of the Roja River, which hosted around 400 Middle Eastern and North Africans migrants.

The move prompted people to try making their way into nearby France as hundreds walked toward the border.

However, they were met with a heavy presence from Italian police at the checkpoint as officers used teargas to disperse the crowd.

Individual attempts by migrants to cross into France using woodland paths during the night were prevented by the French authorities.

Ventimiglia has been recently referred to as Italy’s “mini-Calais” – after the port city in northern France which hosted a large makeshift refugee camp of migrants, trying to reach the UK.

With 82,000 people arriving already since the start of the year, Italy said it has been struggling with the refugee influx and demanded greater involvement from the EU.

The country even threatened to close its ports for humanitarian vessels rescuing migrants from sinking boats in the Mediterranean, seeking to have them redirected to other coastal countries.

The European Commission backed Italy’s plea by saying that the ports in Barcelona and Marseille could also receive migrant boats, but there was no enthusiasm for the idea in Spain and France.

The interior ministers of France, Germany and Italy were scheduled to get together in Paris on Sunday to discuss possible assistance for Rome.

However, an aide told Reuters that one shouldn’t expect immediate decisions at the meeting due to a summit of EU interior ministers scheduled to take place in Tallinn, Estonia next week.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, also said in a statement on Sunday that Italy needs more help from the EU.

"What is happening in front of our eyes in Italy is an unfolding tragedy,” Grandi said, adding that that Europe required an “urgent distribution system” and the widening of legal channels for the admission of asylum seekers.

“Italy is playing its part in receiving those rescued and providing asylum to those in need of protection. These efforts must be continued and strengthened. But this cannot be an Italian problem alone,” Grandi said.

Europe can no longer accept refugees at the rate that has been occurring for the past few years. It is not only cultural suicide, it is not only devastating especially for young European girls and women who suffer from dramatically increased rates of sexual abuse, but it is financially unsustainable.

Most refugees are untrained and even uneducated. Many need to learn the language of the country they end up in before they can even begin to be educated or trained in a profession. All of this costs money, a lot of money, and all of these refugees are receiving living allowances at the same time.

On top of that, policing costs have increased dramatically as many migrant youth gangs have no regard for the law, and there is, of course, the knowledge that a percentage of those migrants are radicalized Muslims and potential terrorists. A small percentage of them are outright jihadists.

Meanwhile, NATO and the USA are creating hyperbolic terrors that Russia is ready to invade Europe and EU countries are shelling out hundreds of billions of dollars, or Euros, to purchase weapons and upgrade military capability, and where does that money go? Not to the smaller, poorer countries of the EU, that's for sure.

The EU has to begin to send migrants back where they came from. Western powers have to invest in economies in Africa to create the possibility of economic growth. We have to look at companies now operating in 3rd world countries and ensure that they are operating for the benefit of the country, not just themselves. We also need to be more focused on creating peace in war-torn countries rather than either ignoring them or taking advantage of the fighting to sell more weapons and to accomplish selfish political goals.

‘No Credibility’: Syrian Govt Blasts OPCW Report, Denies Latest Rebel Gas Attack claims

Damascus denounced a report by UN’s chemical weapons watchdog on April chemical incident in Idlib as one-sided, lacking evidence and aimed at encouraging terrorists as they lose ground. It also denied reports of deploying chlorine against rebels.

The fact-finding mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), tasked with investigation of the alleged use of chemical weapons in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun on April 4, rejected the Syrian government’s assistance in unearthing  the facts at the site of the incident and instead relied on highly questionable testimonies provided by rebels and terrorists, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

An ensuing report by the OPCW therefore “comes up with a fabricated and contrived narrative that has no credibility and cannot be accepted in any manner, because it is removed from logic and is concocted by a twisted imagination that only thinks about weaving conspiracies”, the foreign ministry argued in a statement, cited by Syria’s state SANA news agency.

According to the ministry, the findings were rooted in the claims provided by “terrorists”, who were taken to Turkey from Khan Sheikhoun and bribed to testify.

At the same time, the ministry noted that the mission turned down the proposal by Damascus to fly them on a private plane to Shayrat airbase, considered by the West as a place from which the attack originated. The allegations that the airfield was used to launch a chemical attack were repeatedly refuted by Damascus, which insists it does not possess any chemical weapons.

The ministry also called out the OPCW investigators for not caring enough to visit the actual site of the incident in Khan Sheikhoun despite the Syrian authorities’ reassurances that they are ready  to cooperate in full to make the venture possible.

It further argued that the OPCW’s way of handling the probe suggests that the organization’s initial goal was not to establish the truth but to conceal the facts that did not fit in the western narrative. The report serves “to raise the collapsing morale of terrorist groups following the achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies on the Syrian ground,” the statement read.

Calling the presented findings misleading, the ministry urged the OPCW to come up with an impartial report into the incident free from external influences.

The OPCW report, released on Wednesday for review by the watchdog’s members, purports to confirm that sarin, a banned nerve agent, was used in the attack, that reportedly killed up to 100 civilians and injured hundreds. Although the report does not assign responsibility to any party, Washington used the publication to pin the blame on Damascus, while noting that OPCW’s Joint Investigative Mechanism  (JIM) is yet to come to the conclusion.

Three days following the incident, US fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at Shayrat airbase, inflicting casualties among Syrian military civilians and material damage.

Russia, on its part, criticized the fact-checking mission for listening to only one side of the conflict, namely, to "all kinds of the Syrian armed opposition groups and NGOs,” the Russian OPCW representative, Aleksandr Shulgin, told RT. It also cast doubt on the integrity of the findings, as the report states that the organization was unable to implement a chain of custody over the samples.

In a separate statement, the Syrian military flatly rejected reports that have started circulating on Saturday that it targeted rebels in Ain Tarma in the Eastern Ghouta area with chlorine gas. Labelling the reports baseless the military stated that they were fabricated by the rebels themselves “to justify their defeats and heavy losses whenever the Syrian Army makes progress in the area.”

It further stressed that Syria could not have mounted the attack as it had disposed of all chemical weapons and “has never used toxic chemicals since the beginning of the crisis,” read statement by Syrian Amry general Command, cited by SANA.

Earlier, Failaq al-Rahman rebel group operating in the area said that over 30 of its fighters displayed the symptoms of suffocation, blaming the Syrian army of using chlorine on them.

U.N. Refugee Agency: More People Returning to Syria in 2017

By Doug G. Ware

UPI -- After a mass exodus in recent years, more people are returning to Syria this year, according to data cited Friday by the United Nations' refugee agency.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees issued a report Friday that said there has been a "notable trend of spontaneous returns to and within Syria" so far in 2017.

According to the data, more than 440,000 "internally displaced" Syrians have returned to their homes in the country between January and July.

"In parallel, UNHCR has monitored over 31,000 Syrian refugees returning from neighboring countries so far in 2017," the humanitarian agency added. "Since 2015, some 260,000 refugees have spontaneously returned to Syria, primarily from Turkey into northern Syria."

Tens of thousands of Syrians have fled their homeland in recent years for various reasons -- most prominently the spread of terrorism and the civil war, now in its seventh year.

The main reasons Syrians are returning, UNHCR said, are to check on family or property and perceived improvement of the security situation in the war-torn Middle Eastern nation.

To meet the growing returns, UNHCR said it will increase its operational capacities inside Syria to facilitate the change.

The U.N. refugee agency is tasked with guarding and supporting refugees worldwide and assist in their voluntary repatriation.

"UNHCR believes conditions for refugees to return in safety and dignity are not yet in place in Syria," the report stated. "Access to displaced population inside Syria remains a key challenge, with aid convoys still unable to access regularly even the recently newly accessible areas.

"There is a clear need to continue to fund and support programs in host countries."

The U.N. agency said, though, that it cannot promote or facilitate further returns of Syrians to their home country "at this stage."

"Ensuring access to asylum for Syrian refugees and preserving the ability and conditions for them to stay in the host countries remain critical," it said.

UNHCR has requested more than $300 million for operations to aid displaced persons in Syria this year. So far, it has received about a third of that amount. The agency said it will seek an additional $150 million this year for those operations.

The Latest News on the Science of Global Warming

Here is the latest news on climate change. It originates from Sky News in Australia - I don't think any western news sources are carrying this story. Why? Because it downplays global warming and that is not politically correct. Another term for 'politically correct' might be 'neo-liberal hysteria'.

I don't dispute that global warming is occurring or, at least, has occurred in the past century. I contend that it is not occurring at a rate that will destroy the planet in this century or even the next several. I also contend that it is being hyped at an hysterical rate for political reasons.

The video is only a few minutes long but is extremely important in introducing an element of truth and real science into the debate. Please watch:
