Elon Musk Just Exploded One of the Left’s Favorite Smear Tactics With Some Common Sense

Elon Musk has just dared to shine the light of truth and accuracy upon one of the left’s favorite weapons of propaganda and manipulation.

Whenever mainstream media “journalists” want to make people dislike someone and reject whatever their victim may stand for, they start calling the person they want to destroy “far right.” The idea is to associate the victim with Hitler and fascism without saying anything that could end up being legally actionable, and the leftists have not hesitated to use the label for anyone and anything they don’t like, no matter how far from anything genuinely “far right” their target may be.

One notorious example is the media’s use of “far right” to try to defame everyone who dares to oppose its favorite religion, Islam, and to speak out against jihad violence and Sharia oppression of women. And so the late Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn, who was a gay activist with leftist positions on everything except his refusal to accept the Islamization of the Netherlands and Europe, was “far right.” So is his political heir in the Netherlands, Geert Wilders, whose party’s program aligns with the left on almost everything except its opposition to mass Muslim migration into Europe, and so he, too, is “far right.”

I myself believe in free speech, free enterprise, and free society, and reject racism, fascism, and the like, but when I started writing books about how Islamic jihad is a historic and present-day threat, I, too, became “far right,” and was placed on the blacklists of the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League, and defamed and deplatformed accordingly.

The whole thing has gotten so absurd that in a December 2024 article published in the aftermath of an Islamic jihad attack upon a Christmas market in Germany, the Daily Mail warned: “This Christmas market carnage will make a dangerous situation even uglier – and the Far Right will grow even stronger.” Yeah, that’s the biggest takeaway from a jihad attack that killed six people and injured over 300 others: the “far right” may take advantage.

The idea that anyone at all would have been worrying about the “far right” at that moment demonstrated how avid the establishment media is to divert attention away from Islamic jihad violence. If that required warning about a nonexistent threat and once again smearing people who were simply trying to stand against the prevailing madness, so be it.

Now, however, Elon Musk has had enough. The Hill reported Friday that in a recent interview, The Economist’s Editor-in-Chief Zanny Minton Beddoes claimed that Musk “supports not just the populist right, but the far right — in fact, very fringe parties in some countries.”

Musk took issue with this characterization, saying: “No, I support the normal people. What you call the far right, falsely. Literally, you could go back 10 or 15 years and these policies were completely normal.”

Completely normal, as they had been for centuries, if not millennia.

The Media is the Message > CBC doubles down on its far-leftness

The CBC continues to gaslight conservatives, even after its near-death experience 

The CBC has learned nothing since it stood on the precipice and stared down its annihilation at the hands of a Conservative government.

Last month, Pollara released its annual Trust in Media survey, revealing the CBC’s net trust score among Conservative voters is now just +9, compared to +78 among Liberal voters—the widest trust gap of any Canadian outlet. Conservative trust dropped 13 points in just three years.

Not only that, the CBC remains utterly uninterested in exploring why it continues to fail at connecting with conservative-minded Canadians—some 37 percent of the electorate. A recent Senate report, lasting two years and calling 60 witnesses, concluded: “allegations of [CBC] bias are serious and undermine trust in the public broadcaster.” This was after some testified the CBC was “very Liberal in their views, promoting Liberal politicians,” and did not cover “moderate conservative views.” It recommended the CBC submit to periodic independent news audits tracking fairness and balance. The CBC’s response to The Hub as to whether it would consider this oversight? No comment.

Instead, the new post-election CBC mantra appears to be “Keep your head down, business as usual, nothing to see here.” But many Canadians can see—and will continue to switch off—unless the broadcaster admits its bias and offers ways to fix it. The CBC has not just lost conservative viewers who don’t want to pay for its billion-plus budget, or those who no longer feel represented on its airwaves, it’s lost conservative Canadians who are being actively antagonized by its coverage.

“The CBC is not contributing to consensus reality,” concluded Canadian writer Stephen Marche. “It is an ideologically captured institution that is listened to by an increasingly fewer number of people exactly because it does not reflect Canadian reality.”

“A new Liberal government will never cower to President Trump’s attacks on Canada. In this kind of crisis, protecting Canada’s identity is part of securing Canada,” said Mark Carney on the campaign trail, announcing new support for the public broadcaster. “The CBC is a pillar of our cultural identity and a cornerstone of our sovereignty,” explained the Ministry of Canadian Identity and Culture in an internal briefing note. “When you have not-so-friendly neighbours talking about [a] 51st state, it’s really important we focus on how we maintain that strength and that distinctiveness of our common culture,” added new CBC CEO Marie-Philippe Bouchard. The CBC wrapped itself in the flag (a flag they had admonished the past five years) and surfed the Elbows Up wave.

Same old, same old

Subsequently, the CBC doubled down on broadcasting almost exclusively for the progressive, educated, urban elite.

It helped fund a fake TV show that paid American pranksters to humiliate unsuspecting conservatives, lost a host, Travis Dhanraj, who said he was told not to book Conservatives, and gave an exclusive fawning softball interview to noted far-Left activist and terrorist sympathizer Hasan Piker.

All questions about a perceived bias were summarily dismissed.

“The notion that we are politically oriented is really against everything that we believe and the independence that we so importantly preserve,” Bouchard assured the public.

There were some bright spots. A new five-year strategic plan alluded to focusing on “non-users or dissatisfied users.” There would be more money spent covering Western Canada and rural areas; a push to include a “more diverse set of points of view.” They would air a single documentary decrying the growth of progressive illiberalism on university campuses.

But when asked whether the organization planned to reach out to Conservatives to overcome an audience deficit, Bouchard said this was not something she considered to be an issue.

Heads down. Nothing to see here.

Taking ownership

The Carney government may still include CBC/Radio Canada in its cost-cutting efforts. Following an injection of an additional $150 million, bringing its annual public funding to a record high of $1.6 billion, there are questions around whether they will make that top up permanent and follow through with their promise of making funding statutory. Canadians should ask themselves if its behaviour should be rewarded with more taxpayer dollars. The public broadcaster is now also being tasked by the government with rooting out “disinformation”—correcting others for their biases.

If the CBC wants to find bias, it should start with itself. Other outlets have at least begun the difficult work of admitting their institutional Left-leaning bias and promised to do better. The New York Times executive editor admitted they went “too far” during the media “excesses” of recent years and affirmed that “the newsroom is not a safe space.” A former Washington Post executive editor admitted that the number of conservatives reading their paper had fallen to “single digits” due to their condescending tone. The Globe and Mail penned an editorial taking accountability for misreporting the residential school graves story.

But the CBC appears to still be on stage one of the five stages of grief: denial. It’s long past time for them to get to acceptance. Its own ombudsman has described how the public appears to have “lost faith” in public broadcasters, following allegations of bias. Viewers, she writes, are starting to ask not how public media can be made more accountable, but “why it even exists.”

It is essential that the CBC, which will soon employ more than one in three Canadian journalists, come out and say what everyone else can see: it has a conservative-shaped hole in its journalism.

“Accountability…We’re not very good when questioned ourselves,” admitted CBC News editor-in-chief Brodie Fenlon at a 2023 panel on trust in media.

If only the CBC practiced what it preached.

UK Government on Verge of Making It Illegal to Tell the Truth

The UK’s far-left government has been working for quite some time on trying to define the concept of “Islamophobia.” This is urgently needed, Labour Party wonks are telling British citizens, because of a rise in “hate crimes” against Muslims. Who says there has been such a rise? The same Muslim groups that are pushing for the criminalization of “Islamophobia,” as well as the Labour government itself. Could Labour really be trying to solidify its hold on the Muslim vote by destroying the freedom of speech and imposing Sharia blasphemy laws through the back door, designed as efforts to stamp out “hate”? Why, of course they could. In fact, that is exactly what they’re doing.

As is the usual practice in such cases, leftists are obscuring the real issues with false premises and straw men. The Telegraph reported Monday that “stereotyping grooming gangs as Muslim could fall foul of a definition of Islamophobia being considered by the Government.” Now, no one who is informed about the rampant problem of rape gangs in the U.K. that victimized and destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousands of British girls could maintain that they are all Muslim down to the last man. However, as Holy Hell: Islam’s Abuse of Women and the Infidels Who Enable It shows, not only have the vast majority of the perpetrators been Muslims, but most of the victims were non-Muslim British girls.

In fact, for decades, British officials passed up numerous opportunities to do something to stop the rape gangs and protect British girls. They did so precisely because they feared the professional and even personal ruin that would almost certainly follow being accused of “Islamophobia” and “racism.”

Instead of correcting this suicidal myopia and acting to save the British nation before it’s too late, the Labour government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer is working to codify this massive cowardice into law. The Telegraph states that “‘prejudicial’ stereotyping or racialization of Muslims which is designed to stir up racial hatred is said to be one strand of a definition [of Islamophobia] drawn up by a working group for ministers.”

This is red meat for leftists who think they can use the force of the state to stamp out “hate” and enforce the multicultural paradise of their dreams. All they’ll end up doing, as is always the case under leftist governments, is terrifying the populace into submission and moving Britain ever closer to becoming an authoritarian state.

If this understanding of Islamophobia is adopted and is criminalized in British law, how will British authorities react when citizens repeat what has been known for years about these rape gangs? As far back as 2014, the Jay Report, an independent inquiry into child sexual exploitation in the British town of Rotherham, found that the rape gangs had victimized over 1,400 girls, and that the perpetrators were overwhelmingly Pakistani Muslims.

Elon Musk’s X said it’s funding legal bills for a Canadian doctor previously chastised by regulators for her tweets about COVID-19.

In a post to the X News account on Sunday morning, the company formerly known as Twitter wrote that it’s “proud to defend” Dr. Kulvinder Kaur Gill against what it calls “government-supported efforts to cancel her speech.”

In 2021, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario cautioned the Brampton, Ont.-based pediatrics specialist over her tweets, including one saying vaccination for COVID-19 was unnecessary.

The doctor has an ongoing crowdfunding campaign asking for $300,000 to help pay for legal costs, including a cost order related to a lawsuit she launched against what she called a “malicious online smear campaign.”

Gill issued an X post saying Musk committed to paying the remainder of her crowdfunding campaign and helping her appeal the College’s cautions from 2021.

Gill tagged Musk in a post asking him for help earlier this week, saying she owed around $300,000 in costs that were due in four days.

Publicly available legal filings show that Gill previously launched a lawsuit against 23 defendants. The claim was dismissed, awarding costs to the defendants totalling more than $1.1 million.

Gill appealed the dismissal, though only regarding her claim against four of the defendants, and sought leave to appeal the related costs orders. The appeal was dismissed, and she was refused leave to appeal the costs orders.

Last August, Musk posted on X promising to fund the legal bills of anyone who was “unfairly treated” by their employers “due to posting or liking something on this platform.”

“No limit,” he wrote.

It’s been almost a year and a half since Musk bought Twitter for US$44 billion, taking the formerly publicly traded company private.

He has since renamed the platform X and made sweeping changes, including dismantling its verification system, and getting rid of the majority of the workforce including engineers and moderators.

Experts have raised concern about the amount of misinformation being posted and algorithmically promoted on X, including about topics like the Israel-Hamas war.

Experts, of course, consider anything resembling the truth to be misinformation if it counters the prevailing narrative of the far-left, or Deep State. Elon Musk is a hero! A powerful man with a conscience. A rare breed!
