22 Cars Burned in Sweden as Country Rocked by Rising Crime

Sweden - The New Normal

© Reuters/ TT News Agency

Up to 22 cars were burned or damaged in several fires across southern Sweden on Thursday. It will likely stoke claims that the current socialist government has abjectly failed at tackling the surge in crime.

Police in the southern city of Trollhättan are investigating a fire that left up to ten vehicles damaged, according to local news outlet Aftonbladet. Police and rescue teams were called to the area of the Kronegården at around 3:30 am to tackle a “fully-fledged” fire which had engulfed three cars before spreading to more.

Four out of six cars affected were entirely burnt out, police say. While at around 2am a car was set on fire in Trelleborg, which went on to ravage two other vehicles. And just a few miles away in Trelleborg, in Vellinge, a car was set ablaze while one parked behind it was also damaged.

More vehicles in Helsingborg, Kalmar and Oxie were also either burned out or damaged. It is understood no arrests have been made yet in connection with the attacks.

The incidents occurred despite Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven’s stinging remarks, two weeks ago, in the aftermath of a mass arson attack which saw some 80 cars damaged.

Some suggest that some of these attacks may be organized by far-right, anti-immigration organizations. Anything is possible! But police have to make some arrests before the upcoming elections. Police have, in fact, made 2 arrests from the previous car fires, but Swedish police are very political and will not name suspects if they are migrants. It is likely that they would indicate that the suspects were far-right extremists if they were, so it is likely that the suspects they arrested were migrants.

It is understood that groups of masked youths are responsible for the fires, which broke out mainly in Sweden’s second-largest city of Gothenburg. Cars were also set ablaze in Stockholm, Trollhattan and Falkenberg, as well as Malmo.

Amid public doubts over what action the government has been taking to tackle crime, the PM told Swedes in a radio interview: “Society will always act hard against this and we must continue to do so,” before adding his government would do what it takes to “go in hard against this crime.”

Yet, the government doesn’t seem to have matched its words with deeds - given the multiple fires that rocked the southern area of the country on Thursday.

Sweden goes to the polls on 9 September with violent crime high on the political agenda after a spate of shootings and grenade attacks, largely in deprived areas with large concentrations of immigrants.

Opposition leaders have accused the ruling centre-left coalition of allowing “no-go zones” to emerge where emergency services fear to tread.

1835 Car Fires This Year and 300 Shootings Last Year in Sweden is the New Normal

Several buildings, including a pizzeria and a garage, as well as seven cars, were set on fire overnight in southern Sweden as police remain clueless on how to curb the ongoing wave of arson attacks.

The fire services received calls saying that a house was burning in a residential area of Kristianstad municipality shortly before midnight on Wednesday. The police said that a fire at the local pizzeria had started upstairs and quickly spread through the building.

The firefighters fought the flames for several hours, but couldn’t save the building, which was “totally destroyed.”

A garage and several other buildings were also set on fire during the night, creating a risk of the flames spreading to nearby homes, but the firefighters managed to localize the blazes.

Later in the night, law enforcers and rescuers also had to respond to several reports of car fires occurring at various locations in central Kristianstad. Seven cars in different areas were set on fire, with two of them burning out completely, the police said. There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the incidents in Kristianstad, it added.

When asked by SVT paper if the fires were arson attacks, chief police officer Tommy Bengtsson, replied that “of course, it can’t be ruled out,” but refused to speculate about whether Wednesday’s fires were connected.

Good grief! And he's Chief of Police! When will you stop pretending there are no serious problems with migrants? No wonder you have no clue as to how to stop them, you won't even admit that they are the problem.

1835 car fires this year

Youth gangs have been blamed for staging multiple car arsons across Sweden in recent years. There were 1,835 such incidents between January and July this year, according to data by the National Council on Crime Prevention.

More than 100 car fires on one night

The police warned that the arson trend may spike in the wake of the start of school in late August. On Monday, more than 100 cars were torched in the Swedish cities of Gothenburg, Stockholm and elsewhere in what was believed to be coordinated attack.

300 shootings last year

Vandalism, rape, murder and other crimes have spiked in the country in recent years, and this has been linked by some to the European migrant crisis in 2015. Last year, the country saw more than 300 confirmed shooting incidents, which left 41 people dead and 135 injured. The Swedish police are blamed for lacking resources and training to reverse the situation.

The crime rise and the inability of the state to integrate the arriving migrants have created favorable conditions for the rise of the right-wing Sweden Democrats. The anti-migrant party is currently polling at 19 percent, according to Ipsos, and is looking to record its best-ever result in the forthcoming election on September 9.

Sweden Democrats cannot win the Sept elections and that's too bad because there is a desperate need for new leadership in Sweden. Lofven is completely over his head. The 3 headlines immediately above do not sound like Sweden, but, apparently, is the new normal embraced by the lunatic left.

Sweden Is Burning: Migrant Gangs Unleash Coordinated Fire-Bomb Rampage Across Multiple Cities

by Tyler Durden

Many Swedes were horrified in early 2017 when U.S. President Donald Trump linked immigration to rising crime in Sweden, but an increasing number now agree with him.

Not that it matters, but I have been saying this for at least 3 years now.

Amid soaring crime rates, gang violence, complaints about education, and pregnant mothers even being turned away from maternity wards due to a lack of capacity, resentment in Sweden has built over the influx of more than 600,000 immigrants over the past five years.

And tonight is one of the worst night for violence in recent history as police report multiple gangs of masked youths rampaging across three major Swedish cities, setting cars on fire in what seems like a coordinated action.

BREAKING: Serious situation in Sweden. Youths torched around 14 cars near a shopping centre in Gothenburg

Cars were also reported on fire in Malmo, at the southern tip of the country, and in Helsingborg, further south than Gothenburg.

Police report that the situation is under control and they remain on the premises to keep order.

Frölunda: A group of about 6-8 masked youth fires and throws stones. 31 cars have burned and in addition to these 35 cars are injured. Nobody is arrested.

Nordost: A group of about 8-10 young people throws stones and fires. 15 cars have burned. Nobody is arrested.

Trollhättan: A larger group of about 30-40 young people throws stones and fires. Six cars have burned and another few cars must be damaged. Here roads have been blocked by youngsters and they have even thrown stones against the police and their vehicles. At the moment, identification of young people is ongoing.

When most fires started within a short period of time, it can not be excluded that there is a connection between the fires, the case will be investigated. Polish patrons will remain in the affected areas as long as it is considered necessary.

It is no surprise then, as we noted previously,  judging by the latest polls, the rise of extreme populist groups in Sweden is accelerating fast.

As Reuters reports, dozens of people have been killed in the past two years in attacks in the capital Stockholm and other big cities by gangs that are mostly from run-down suburbs dominated by immigrants.

And let's not even mention the numbers of Swedish girls raped and gang-raped by Muslim migrants who believe the Quran gives them permission to do so. Oh, right, we don't know the number because the government, media, police and judicial system protect migrant rapists from being exposed to the public, even while allowing Swedish girls to be exposed to an excessively high level of danger. Sweden's extreme left ideology is killing and destroying Swedes and ensuring Islam will succeed in annihilating Swedish culture.

With public calls growing for tougher policies on crime and immigration, support has risen for the ironically named, Sweden Democrats, a party with neo-Nazi roots that wants to freeze immigration and to hold a referendum on Sweden’s membership of the European Union.

The neo-Nazi roots is most unfortunate, and is common in other European countries where the backlash against the Islamization of Europe is growing. It doesn't need to be that way if only more moderate parties would wake up and see that Islam is growing at a spectacular rate in Europe and that nothing good can come from it. Just look at all Islamic countries where there is not an autocratic government, and look at countries with a large minority of Muslims, and ask yourself, 'Would I want to live in these countries'? Of course not! No sane person would. Why do you think they are all abandoning Islamic countries and migrating to Europe? Because Islamic countries are not fit to live in. So why they don't leave Islam in Islam is the real question.

Their worried mainstream rivals have started moving to the right on crime and immigration to try to counter the Sweden Democrats’ threat in the Sept. 9 election. But so far, they are playing into the hands of the far-right.

“Right now they (mainstream parties) are competing over who can set out the most restrictive policies,” said Deputy Prime Minister Isabella Lovin, whose Green Party is part of a minority government led by the Social Democratic Party.

“It clearly benefits the Sweden Democrats.”

Opinion polls put the Sweden Democrats on about 20 percent support, up from the 13 percent of votes they secured in the 2014 election and the 5.7 percent which saw them enter parliament for the first time in 2010.

The Sweden Democrats’ rise on the back of anti-immigration sentiment mirrors gains for right-wing, populist and anti-establishment parties in other European countries such as Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and Austria.

The Sweden Democrats still trail the Social Democratic Party but has overtaken the main opposition Moderates in many polls. All mainstream parties have ruled out working with them.

But they could emerge from the election as kingmakers, and a strong election showing could force the next government to take their views into consideration when shaping policy.

Their policies include a total freeze on asylum seekers and accepting refugees only from Sweden’s neighbors in the future. They also want tougher penalties for crime and more powers for police, and say tax cuts and higher spending on welfare could be funded by cutting the immigration budget.

Jimmie Akesson, the leader of the Sweden Democratic party, has described the situation as “pretty fantastic”.

“We are dominating the debate even though no one will talk to us,” he told party members.

The Sweden Democrats have succeeded in linking the two in the minds of many voters, even though official statistics show no correlation between overall levels of crime and immigration. However, while the government denies it has lost control but Prime Minister Stefan Lofven has not ruled out sending the military into problem areas.

“Sweden is going down a more right-wing path,” said Nick Aylott, a political scientist at Sodertorn University said. “It is almost impossible to avoid according some sort of influence to a party with around 20 percent of the vote.”

Sweden is soooo far left, the only option is to go down a more right wing path. The lunacy of extreme liberalism is beginning to make itself obvious.

Almost 1,000 Cars Torched Around France on New Year's Eve

But government insists it 'went particularly well'

Henry Samuel, Paris, Telegraph

Vandals in France torched 945 parked cars over New Year's Eve in an arson rampage that has become a sinister annual "tradition" and amid a row over whether the government had sought to play down the figures.

According to the French interior ministry, the total of 945, which included cars that were either "totally destroyed" or "more lightly affected", amounted to a 17 per cent rise compared to last year.

Despite this, New Year's Eve "went off without any major incident", the interior ministry insisted in a statement, adding that there were only "a few troubles with public order",

In fact, police arrested 454 people over the night, 301 of whom were taken into custody.

I guess the word 'few' has many definitions.

On Sunday, the ministry had chosen to release a much lower figure of 650 cars torched, as this only indicated the number of vehicles "set on fire" and not those engulfed in the ensuing flames.

So if you set one car on fire and the car next to it burns, it doesn't count; it's a freebee!

The lower figure enabled it to claim: "Once again this year, the overall  number of vehicles burned demonstrates that, however intolerable, the phenomenon is contained". By this calculation, the rise, it said, was only 48 cars.

But the the lower figure prompted the far-right Front National to denounce what it called the government's "extremely hazy security record".

"The new interior minister Bruno Le Roux…(initially) didn't communicate the number of vehicles burned and considers that the number of cars directly set on fire to be 'contained' while even this constitutes a signifiant rise of 8 per cent," the FN said in a statement.

Le Monde, the national daily newspaper, also accused the ministry of muddying the waters.

The government responded that the figures released were the "most pertinent and the most coherent".

"There is absolutely no attempt at hiding anything," said Pierre Henry Brandet, an interior ministry spokesman.

"You have to look at the trend over several years, and what is significant is that there has been a significant drop over five years,"he said.

But, M Brandet, it doesn't help if the drop came as a result of how you count the number of cars. Is that method of counting consistent through the years? Statistics are meaningless otherwise.

Mr Brandet conceded, however, that the figure was still too high, adding: "These incidents are not tolerable and the perpetrators must be found and answer for their acts before justice."

Over New Year, a fire fighter in the eastern department of Ain was hurt while trying to extinguish one car.

In Nice, where security has been extremely tight since the deadly Bastille Day truck attack of last year, two police officers were hurt when revellers threw "projectiles" at them.

Bruno le Roux, the interior minister, said that no attack on security would not be tolerated.

"I regret that once again there were too many instances of security forces being hit with objects, or faced with attacks or insults," he said.

But he thanked the tens of thousands of police and firefighters, adding that they "allowed December 31st to go off particularly well".

With France under a state of emergency since a spate of terror attacks, some 90,000 security forces were out in its streets on New Year's Eve to police mass gatherings such on Paris' famed Champs-Elysées, where half a million revellers convened.

French domestic intelligence agents also reportedly swooped on a string of individuals ahead of festivities who they suspected might have been tempted to wreak violence.

The custom of setting vehicles alight on New Year’s Eve is said to have kicked off around Strasbourg, eastern France in the 1990s, in the the city’s deprived, high-immigrant districts.

It quickly caught on among disaffected youths in cities across the country, and is seen by some as a litmus test of general social unrest.

The most notorious spate of car burnings in recent years was seen in the 2005 riots when hundreds of vehicles were torched.

As stated above, the 'tradition' began in mainly Muslim areas. Who knows how many Muslims were involved in this year's event but it is safe to say many. Of course, the police or government will never tell us, they don't want you blaming Muslims for doing what they do.

Meanwhile, France is in a state of emergency; 90,000 police or military were on the streets; nearly a thousand cars burnt; police were attacked; several hundred people were arrested; and the government declares it a good night! Good grief!

Former French president Nicholas Sarkozy briefly abandoned issuing a breakdown of New Year's Eve car burnings in 2010-11 amid fears this was sparking copycat actions, but it has since been re-instated.

Racially Motivated Violence Injures Several People on Corsica

Violent Corsica brawl: 4 injured, cars burnt in clashes between locals & N. Africans

At least four people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in a violent brawl between locals and foreigners,” presumably from North Africa, on the island of Corsica, French media reports. Some 100 police officers had to be deployed to calm the situation.

The brawl broke out in the Sisco commune of France’s Haute-Corse department on Saturday evening, France 3 Corsica reported.

France 3 Corsica cited local witnesses who claimed that a spat began when some tourists took a picture of a group of ten North Africans, including a pregnant woman and children, who were sitting on a beach. The North Africans made it clear that they didn’t want to be photographed, but then a group of Corsicans arrived and also started a discussion that escalated into a confrontation.

The paper reported that three vehicles belonging to young people of North African origin had been burned in the encounter.

Some 40 Corsicans attacked the members of two Moroccan families that were living on the island, according to BFMTV. Stones and bottles were reportedly thrown at the Moroccans and three of their vehicles were burned, the channel said. The cause of the brawl has yet to be determined, French media said.

The French Interior Ministry later confirmed that the incident had taken place, but didn’t specify the nationality of the people attacked, simply calling them “foreigners.”

“Four people injured, including a pregnant woman, were evacuated to the hospital in Bastia,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that “three vehicles were burned, causing severe traffic disruption.”

The ministry said that some 100 police officers had been dispatched to the scene to bring the situation under control.

France 3 Corsica put the number of people injured in the brawl at five, two of whom were Corsicans and three of North African origin. In addition to the pregnant woman, the injured included one more woman, a child, and a man. BFMTV reported, citing its sources.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that he was calling for an investigation into the incident, while urging everyone to stay “calm” and maintain “a sense of responsibility.”
