Antisemitism > Why is Ireland so virulent against Israel?

Another Grotesque Attack on Israel from Ireland

A straight line can be drawn from Irish President Éamon de Valera, who paid a visit to the senior German diplomat in Dublin to express his condolences to Nazi Germany on the death of Adolf Hitler, to the deep anti-Israel animus, grading into outright antisemitism, expressed recently by Ireland’s current president Michael Higgins, its prime minister Simon Harris, and its foreign minister Micheal Martin. Now Eamon Martin, the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, has come out with his own spittle-flecked message of hate for the Jewish state here:

Irish Catholic Archbishop: Israeli response to Hamas

‘merciless and disproportionate'

by Michael Starr, Jerusalem Post, January 2, 2025:

Irish Archbishop Eamon Martin has decried the Israeli response to Hamas attacks as merciless and disproportionate in a New Year’s Day message, delivered at a time of increased criticism by Ireland and the Catholic Church toward Israel’s prosecution of the multi-front Levantine war.

The Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland said on Tuesday that while the Hamas-led October 7 attacks were “egregious” and hostages were still being held in Gaza, the IDF’s response was “merciless and disproportionate.”

Hmm. Does that word “egregious” seem to you to be the right word to describe the Hamas attacks on October 7, in which 6,000 Hamas operatives, accompanied by a few hundred delirious civilians hoping to join in the homicidal fun, smashed into Israel and proceeded to rape, torture, mutilate, and murder 1,200 Israelis? No, of course not. The Primate of All Ireland then said that while Hamas’ atrocities may have been “egregious,” Israel’s response was far worse; it was “merciless and disproportionate.”

Was there any sign of mercy in the October 7th display of unbelievably, inhuman evil by Hamas? Was there any sign of shame and disgrace by the Gazans who elected those monsters? Why does Martin expect mercy from Israelis and not from Hamas?

Over 45,000 people, including 17,000 children, have been cut down; two million people forcibly displaced; almost the entire population of Gaza is living in extreme hunger, and despite the reality of catastrophic famine conditions for hundreds of thousands of desperate civilians, humanitarian access is effectively blocked,” said Martin.

Archbishop Martin is wrong. He is mindlessly repeating Hamas propaganda about casualty figures. Let’s go into those numbers for the nth time. Hamas has claimed, through its puppet, the Gaza Ministry of Health, that 45,000 people have died in Gaza in 15 months of war. It deliberately does not distinguish between civilian and military deaths. The IDF has said that it has killed 20,000 Hamas fighters. We also know that before the Gaza war began, 800 Gazans died each month from diseases and accidents. Assuming that figure holds steady, in the fifteen months of the war, 800 x 15, or 12,000 Gazans have died of non-combat related causes. And that means the total number of civilian casualties as a result of the war amount not to 45,000, as the archbishop claims, but 25,000-12,000, or 13,000. Where did Archbishop Martin come up with that figure of “17,000 children” whom, he claims, have “been cut down,” a figure that is 4,000 more than the total for all civilians — men, women, and children — killed in the war? Why, like so many other credulous and biased souls, he took it from Hamas propagandists who incessantly repeat that figure.

Archbishop Martin claims that two million people were “forcibly displaced” by the IDF, and that must be a wicked thing. He has completely missed the point. Gazans were not “forcibly displaced,” but rather, encouraged to move out of certain areas — from cities to neighborhoods to individual buildings, in order to avoid being harmed if they remained in areas about to be targeted by the IDF. “Two million people” were not moved all at once, as Martin claims. The largest move was from the city of Rafah, where 900,000 people were encouraged to move to the safe zone set up by the IDF on the Mediterranean coast at Al-Mawasi. Most of the other warnings were directed at far fewer numbers — thousands or even hundreds of Gazans at a time. In every case, once an area was declared “cleared of Hamas terrorists,” civilians were allowed back in. This tremendous effort by the IDF to move Gazan civilians to relative safety is presented by the Primate of All Ireland as an evil act; he refuses to recognize that those warnings that led to those temporary displacements saved lives. Can he really be unaware of the fact that the IDF by March had dropped nine million leaflets, sent fifteen million text messages, and made sixteen million robocalls in Gaza, not to harm civilians, but to urge them away from danger?

Nor does he seem to be aware that it is not Israel that is preventing the food from entering Gaza. Food trucks that do enter are immediately hijacked by Hamas or criminal gangs. The food is stolen by Hamas, or resold by criminals at exorbitant prices to the hungry Gazans. Israel has offered to accompany the trucks but that has been refused.

If you have read the article just previous to this on this blog, it may colour your thinking about the validity of the Catholic Church in Ireland. On my other blog, the number of stories about Ireland's Christian Brothers sect, may add a few more shades of grey.

Antisemitism > Ireland's rabid antisemitism will stir the wrath of God

In very recent years, Ireland seems to have determinedly abandoned any fear of God. This cannot be a good thing for the Emerald Isle going forward.

Israel to close its embassy in Ireland over ‘extreme anti-Israel’ policies

Middle East

Israel will close its Dublin embassy due to the "extreme anti-Israel policies of the Irish government", Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Sunday. The decision refers to Ireland's recognition of a Palestinian state and support for legal action against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which accuses Israel of genocide.

Israel's foreign ministry announced on Sunday that it was closing its embassy in Ireland, citing the Dublin government's "extreme anti-Israeli policies", further straining tense relations between the two nations.

Diplomatic ties between Ireland and Israel have deteriorated after a series of moves that included Ireland recognising a Palestinian state and backing an International Court of Justice case accusing Israel of "genocide" in the Gaza Strip.

Ireland has also been among the most outspoken critics of Israel's response to the October 7, 2023 attacks by Hamas that sparked the war in Gaza.

"The decision to close Israel's embassy in Dublin was made in light of the extreme anti-Israel policies of the Irish government," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

"The actions and antisemitic rhetoric used by Ireland against Israel are rooted in the delegitimisation and demonisation of the Jewish state, along with double standards," Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said in a statement.

"Ireland has crossed every red line in its relations with Israel."

In November, Ireland's Prime Minister Simon Harris said the country's authorities would detain his Israeli counterpart Binyamin Netanyahu if he travelled to Ireland after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him.

The ICC issued warrants for Netanyahu and his former defence minister Yoav Gallant "for crimes against humanity and war crimes" committed between October 8, 2023, and May 20 this year in the Gaza Strip.

The ICC has now become the ICI - The Int'l Court of Injustice!

Saar said Israel would invest its resources in building ties with other countries, and on Sunday announced the opening of an embassy in Moldova.

"We will adjust Israel's diplomatic network of missions while giving due weight, among other factors, to the positions and actions of various countries toward Israel in the diplomatic arena," he said.

In May, Dublin said it recognised Palestine as "a sovereign and independent state" comprising the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and agreed to establish full diplomatic relations.

Spain and Norway recognised a Palestinian state on the same day, with Slovenia following a week later, drawing retaliatory moves from Israel.

In November, Dublin accepted the appointment of a full Palestinian ambassador for the first time.

On Sunday, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris called the Israeli decision to close its Dublin embassy "deeply regrettable".

"I utterly reject the assertion that Ireland is anti-Israel. Ireland is pro-peace, pro-human rights and pro-International law," he posted on X.

Palestinian Propaganda in Irish School Textbooks > Shameful lies and distorted history

Ireland: Textbooks claim that Jesus

was born in a country called ‘Palestine’

Saying that Jesus was from Palestine betrays an ignorance of history. As “The Palestinian Delusion” explains, in the year 134AD, the Romans expelled the Jews from their homeland of Judea (“land of the Jews”) after the Bar Kokhba revolt and renamed the region Palestine. That was 100 years after Jesus, who lived in Judea. When he was crucified, the Roman governor Pontius Pilate had the charge placed on a sign over his head: “King of the Jews,” that is, a supposed insurrectionist. Pilate did not write “King of the Palestinians” or “King of Palestine.”

The Romans had plucked the name “Palestine” from the Bible; it was the name of the Israelites’ ancient enemies, the Philistines. But never did the term “Palestinian” refer to anything but a region — not to a people or an ethnicity. In the 1960s, however, the KGB and Hajj Amin al-Husseini’s nephew Yasir Arafat created both these allegedly oppressed people and the instrument of their freedom — the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The idea of a “Palestinian people” is one of the most successful propaganda fictions in human history.

Irish textbooks say Jesus was from ‘Palestine,’ downplay Auschwitz

by Canaan Lidor, JNS, November 5, 2024:

Jesus was born in a country called “Palestine,” which is also known as the Holy Land and located between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

This piece of information, which inaccurately ties the Christian holy figure to the Palestinian cause and ignores Israel’s existence, is one of several passages highlighted in a report published Monday on problems in how Irish textbooks treat the Jewish religion, history and state.

The text, found in an Irish religious studies textbook from 2020 for 7–9th graders titled “Inspire – Wisdom of the World,” is part of a pattern of “oversimplification and delegitimization” of Israel and Jews, the IMPACT-se research institute wrote in “European Textbooks Ireland Review.”

“Historical references to Jesus living in ‘Palestine’ without appropriate context can contribute to narratives that challenge Israel’s legitimacy and undermine the Jewish historical connection to the land,” wrote IMPACT-se, a Jerusalem-based nonprofit that analyzes antisemitic and anti-Israel bias in education worldwide. The area where Jesus lived was primarily referred to as Judea at the time.

Other textbooks feature the discredited “Palestinian Land Loss” maps, which mislabel Jordanian and Egyptian-held territory as part of “Palestine,” among other issues.

A 2022 book civics textbook titled “Call to Action” for the same age group uses an “unfair and inaccurate framing of Israel as the sole aggressor and actor responsible for the conflict,” IMPACT-se wrote.

A history book titled “Dictatorship and Democracy” for 17- and 18-year-olds identifies Auschwitz as a “prisoner of war camp,” which “minimizes the unique and horrific nature of the Holocaust and the systematic extermination carried out there,” IMAPCT-se wrote.

Not even hinting at the attempted genocide of every Jew in Europe.

Ireland's Astonishingly Stupid Response to Muslim Stabbings; Immigrant Hero in stopping stabbings; Musk Criticizes Varadkar

Ireland: After Muslim migrant stabs four,

PM vows crackdown on speech,

silencing of opposition to mass migration

This’ll fix everything. Ireland will learn to be multicultural and the old Irish and the new will march happily into the brilliantly diverse future.

In reality, of course, Ireland will become a pesthole of crime and jihad violence, as the native Irish are conquered and destroyed, reduced to dhimmi status. They exchanged Christianity for Leftism, and now they’re enjoying its glorious fruits, as all of the West soon will.

Dublin riots: Varadkar vows to punish racists responsible

as immigrants fear more attacks

by Shawn Pogatchnik, Politico, November 24, 2023:

DUBLIN — Prime Minister Leo Varadkar vowed Friday to crack down on racist extremists who fought street battles with riot police — a “Rubicon moment” for a state ill-equipped to combat rising working-class animosity to immigrants.

Thursday night’s unprecedented anti-immigration riots were triggered by the stabbing of three young children and an adult carer outside their school (note that it was a Catholic School) in the heart of Dublin, critically wounding a 5-year-old girl. Onlookers quickly wrestled a knife-wielding man to the ground – and social media accounts run by anti-immigrant campaigners almost as speedily branded the suspect a foreigner….

Varadkar said the government within weeks would pass two key pieces of legislation. One would empower police to use facial-recognition technology to track Thursday night’s rioters captured by surveillance cameras on buses, trains, private vehicles and shops. The other would give police new powers to prosecute online promoters of hate speech.

“It’s now obvious to anyone who might have doubted it that our incitement to hatred legislation is just not up to date for the social media age,” said Varadkar, whose country hosts the European headquarters of most social media companies, including X, TikTok and Facebook.

Referring to Irish social media accounts with large followings and racist messages, he said, “We need laws to be able to go after them individually … They’re to blame and we’re going to get them.”…

“We’re a country of migrants. We’ve gone all over the world as a people,” he said. “Our public services wouldn’t operate without migration. There’d be nobody to look after the sick or to care for the old, certainly not enough people.”

“When I go into big companies, whether it’s tech companies or companies that produce medical devices or pharmaceuticals, I see how diverse the workforce is,” he said. “And these are the companies and the people who pay massive amounts of tax that allow us to build social housing and schools, and to fund our public services and our welfare system. If it wasn’t for migrants, this country would be a vastly inferior place to what it is.”…

The spontaneous eruption of rioting was almost certainly not against immigrants in general. As much as Varadkar would never admit it, it was against Muslim immigrants. Those who completely ignore Irish laws, the rights of women and children, and who are so easily triggered into acts of Islamic hysteria, like stabbing children.

The rioting is likely to just get worse until Varadkar comes to the realiation that Muslims punch way above their weight in terms of criminal activity and violence. The Irish rebelled last week because the government refuses to see the truth and therefore cannot deal with it.

Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A 43-year-old Brazilian delivery driver is being hailed a hero after using a motorcycle helmet to thwart a stabbing during Dublin's anti-immigrant violence.

An online fundraiser to "Buy Caio Benicio a pint" has raised more than 350,000 euros, about $383,000, since it launched on Thursday. Benicio, a Rio de Janeiro native who lives in Dublin, witnessed the stabbing as he was passing by on his moped.

Irish national broadcaster RTE said Benicio -- who has been living in Ireland for a year -- was working as a delivery driver when he saw a man attack a woman and three children. He originally thought it was a fight.

"I saw him stab the little girl. And it was everything by instinct. I remember, I took off my helmet to protect myself and use it as a weapon," he said. "Just hit him in the head with all the power I had. And he fell down. And I hit him and then come other people and start to to kick him."

Benicio he didn't even realize the events unfolding around him were related to ongoing anti-immigrant protests in Dublin.

"I am immigrant and I was right there to protect Irish people," he said. "We are here to work. Most of the people are here to work hard and make the economy of the country better. The work we do here is good for the country. It's good for themselves. They just have hate."

Musk critical of Irish PM as tensions

Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Billionaire Elon Musk criticized Ireland's prime minister on Saturday as tensions in the capital of Dublin remained high following violent anti-immigrant riots earlier in the week.

Security in Dublin remained high following a knife attack Thursday that sparked street protests and looting in city. Police arrested more than 45 people during the mele.

Musk, owner of the X social media platform, took aim at Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, writing in a response to another's post that the head of the Irish government "hates the Irish people."

Musk made the statement in response to a post highlighting Varadkar's promise to tighten hate and incitement legislation in the wake of the violence, vowing that his governing coalition would pass new laws enabling police to better use evidence collected by closed circuit television cameras in identifying rioters.

Misinformation about the knife attack spreading on social media platforms has been blamed by authorities in helping fuel the rioting.

What misinformation? The news media never mentioned that the stabber was a Muslim, or that the children had just emerged from a Catholic School? If there was misinformation, it came from mainstream media, the police, or the government.

Musk later suggested UFC star and Dublin native Conor McGregor should run for the prime minister's office.

"This is their last term in office," he wrote, referring to Varadkar's coalition.

Meanwhile, Irish Justice Minister Helen McEntee urged people Saturday to return to Dublin, assuring the public the city of 1.2 million people is safe.

"It's so important that people feel safe in our town and in our cities right across this country," McEntee said in a statement Saturday afternoon.

Thursday's violence elicited the largest-ever response of riot police in the country's history.

"A high visibility policing plan is in place throughout the weekend, including the deployment of four public order units," McEntee said in the update.

Police canines and mounted units were deployed across the city, as were two water cannons.

McEntee also announced $4.8 million in funding to buy additional police vehicles and equipment.

The government is spending real money to treat the symptoms of a dreadful disease, not the disease itself.

Ireland's national police, An Garda Síochána, confirmed a handful of further arrests were made Friday.
