Suspected Islamist Rebels Kill 10 In East DR Congo

Suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militants entered the village of Vido in North Kivu province on Tuesday night and killed 10 people, including an Anglican pastor, according a local civil-society leader Patrick Musubao.

“More than 20 people are missing,” he added, blaming the attack on the ADF.

Didi Isaya, a local official, also blamed the ADF and said that fighters had torched 25 houses in the attack.

He told AFP that authorities had found 11 dead civilians.

The ADF — which the Islamic State group claims as its Central African offshoot — is among the most violent of more than 120 armed groups active in eastern volatile DRC.

120 Armed groups!!! Other than child labour in cobalt mines, that might be DRC's largest industry.

It has been accused of slaughtering thousands of Congolese civilians and carrying out bomb attacks in neighbouring Uganda.

The DRC and Uganda launched a joint offensive against the ADF in November 2021, but the militia continues to wreak havoc across swathes of territory.

Both armies are currently conducting joint operations in the area around the town of Beni — where the village of Vido is located. Rebel attacks in the area have resumed recently after several weeks of calm.

A Congolese army spokesperson could not be reached by AFP.

Faced with continued attacks from various militias, the Congolese government last year placed North Kivu and its neighbour Ituri province under emergency administration in a bid to quell the violence.

Under this so-called “state of siege”, the government replaced senior civilian officials with members of the security forces. Violence has continued, however.

Pakistan: Hindu man dies after he was chased away from hospital,

stripped, beaten by cop and 'thrown' in drain

Islamabad: In yet another horrifying incident raising concerns over the security of minority communities in Pakistan, a Hindu man was stripped, beaten up mercilessly by a local policeman and chased to the drain well from which his body was later discovered.

The incident took place in the Tando Muhammad Khan area of Sindh last month.

The 35-year-old man, named Alam Kohli, was beaten up by police constable Qadir, and later chased to the drain well from which his body was later discovered. His family has alleged that Alam was thrown into the drain well by the official, though the police have registered an FIR of death by suicide.

According to Dawn, the victim’s family claimed that Alam took the extreme step after having been subjected to violence by Qadir.

The accused has not been arrested yet, according to reports.

Alam, a resident of Pandhi Wah, had gone to the civil hospital in the area where he got into a heated argument with Qadir, who was on duty there.

The policeman had beaten him black and blue, while the incident was recorded in a close-circuit television camera, the report stated.

It added that Alam somehow managed to run away from the hospital in a bid to hide himself from the cop and jumped into the well.

After hearing about the incident, Alam’s relatives blocked the Hyderabad-Sujawal road and informed that due to fever, he had been visiting the hospital for two days.

Six people attacked with a knife in Château-Thierry, suspect arrested

Friday evening in Château-Thierry, a man wounded six people with a knife, his mother and his brother then four passers-by, before being overpowered by the police who used a firearm, indicated the prefecture and a source close to the file.

A knife attack left six injured in Château-Thierry on Friday evening. A man injured his mother and brother and then four passers-by, before being overpowered by the police who used firearms, said the prefecture and the prosecutor's office in Soissons.

Hit in the leg, the defendant continued his run for 150 meters "before stopping to take a prayer mat and a Koran out of his bag" and then starting "to make incantations while kneeling, which allowed his arrest", continued Julien Morino-Ros, the prosecutor of Soissons.

“All the victims have been taken care of and their vital prognosis is not engaged”, indicated the prefecture of Aisne on Twitter. The man, who was shot and wounded during his arrest, is also out of danger, a source familiar with the matter said.

Placed in police custody, the suspect, injured in the groin, was hospitalized, said the prosecutor, specifying that his injury did not put his life in danger but required an operation during the day. The six victims, aged between 11 and 46, were treated in hospital, but their lives "would not be in danger", according to the prosecutor, "even if the condition of the younger brother of the respondent" requires "more intensive care".

“Terrible evening in our city of Château-Thierry, which without the intervention of the National Police, could have been much worse", tweeted the mayor of the city, Sébastien Eugène.

Unknown to police

“The judicial investigation begins under the direction of the prosecution”, adds the prefect, welcoming “the rapid and coordinated action of the police forces, the firefighters of the SDIS and the nursing staff of the hospital center of Château-Thierry”. According to the prefecture, which mentions "several" injured people, the facts took place around 10 p.m. Friday evening.

In the immediate future, no track is privileged, according to the source close to the file, which indicates that the attacker, a "very young man", was not known to the police services. He first attacked his mother and his 11-year-old brother at the family home, before attacking four people in the city center. His mother had meanwhile gone to the police station to report the facts.

At this stage, the testimonies collected "do not mention any remarks made suggesting an act linked to Islamist radicalization or claimed as such". This person has not been the subject of “any conviction” and his behavior “does not appear, at this time, to have been the subject of alerts from the State services”, noted the prosecutor, specifying that "the national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office" was "kept informed".

This, of course, means that it was not considered an act of terrorism, as if that was good news. This violent act was an act of Islamic madness by an otherwise devout Muslim. According to Syrian psychiatrist, Dr. Wafa Sultan, all devout Muslims are insane:

“I came to the absolute conviction that it is impossible…impossible…
for any human being to read the biography of Mohammed and believe in it,
and then emerge a psychologically and mentally healthy person.”

- Syrian Psychiatrist Dr. Wafa Sultan

An investigation entrusted to the judicial police branch of Creil jointly with the police station of Château-Thierry, was opened on the grounds of " attempted murder " and the opening of a judicial investigation is envisaged, detailed the prosecution.
