Islam - Current Day > Underground Terror Network Destroyed in Gaza; Swedish Police Build Fortress in No-Go Zone

Israel strikes ‘underground terror infrastructure’ in Gaza in retaliation for ‘explosive balloons’

The Israel Defense Forces have announced they had targeted multiple “underground terror infrastructure” installations in the Gaza Strip, in retaliation for several “explosive balloons” launched into Israel earlier in the day.

“Terrorists in Gaza launched explosive balloons into Israel throughout the day. In response, our aircraft just struck Hamas underground terror infrastructure in Gaza,” the IDF tweeted following Thursday’s strikes, adding that it wouldn’t allow the group to “terrorize Israeli civilians.”

Videos said to capture the assault circulated on social media, showing a plume of smoke rising into the sky over Gaza, as well as footage purporting to show the aftermath of one of the explosive or incendiary balloon attacks.

The balloons ignited several brush fires in southern Israel earlier on Thursday, according to local media reports, while a suspected explosive device was reportedly discovered on a downed balloon near the city of Arad. Though the origin of the attacks is unknown and no group has claimed responsibility, Tel Aviv is prone to point to Hamas by default.

Of course, Gaza is the only anti-Israeli enclave within 50 miles of where the balloons came down, so that's a pretty good clue. Nor would it be difficult to determine the direction of the winds when the balloons were released. Mind you, RT is not known for its objectivity, or even common sense, when it comes to Israel.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fires, but it remains unclear whether the IDF strikes inflicted casualties.

The incident marks the second Israeli assault on Hamas targets in Gaza in the last week, with the IDF claiming it struck “subterranean Hamas terror facilities” on Monday after a rocket was reportedly fired into Israel from the Palestinian enclave.

Swedish Police Build Fortress in No-Go Zone They Deny Exists

Police house armored - police can get escorts to the subway
RINKEBY

The new police station in Rinkeby has protection in the class of armored military vehicles, according to information to Expressen.

To ensure the safety of staff, a patrol is released that can escort their colleagues to and from the workplace.

- We work a lot in the criminal gang environments. If you make an intervention, end the working day and then go to the metro a quarter of an hour later, it may not be optimal, says Frida Nordlöf, acting local police area manager in Rinkeby.

"It may not be optimal." That's hilarious! In other words, you will probably be beaten to a pulp and thrown under the metro.

Kim Malmgren, Expressen

The new police station in Rinkeby has been completed and during the summer the first police officers have moved in. On September 1, the move is expected to be completely completed.

The purpose of the new station is for the police and citizens in the Järva area - where several particularly vulnerable areas are located - to get closer to each other. At the same time, there has been concern about the security situation for the police officers who will be working on site.

It is now clear that the police have taken drastic methods with regard to the safety of the staff.

Bulletproof station

The building is protected by so-called armox plates, bulletproof steel that is used in armored military vehicles, among other things. The building's windows also have a higher security class than is usual in the police, according to information to Expressen.

- It's not fast but I'm very happy with the new premises. I did not want to reduce security. If you can get it bulletproof immediately, it is easier than replacing all the windows because they cannot handle stone throwing, says Frida Nordlöf.

Employees can get escorts

Polisförbundets tidning Polistidningen recently reported that an evening patrol will be ready to secure colleagues' way to and from work if this is required.

Frida Nordlöf believes that the resource is currently temporary, until it is clear what the situation looks like.

- We work a lot in the criminal gang environments. If you make an intervention, end the working day and then go to the subway a quarter of an hour later, it may not be optimal. Then we want to be able to transport this colleague to another metro station or similar, says Nordlöf.
