Antisemitism Around the World > Macron's absurdly ignorant speech to the UN; Ontario synagogue attacker dead

‘GROTESQUE ABSURDITY’: Macron makes shockingly ignorant Hamas claim at UN

“Look at what is happening in the West Bank, where every day violations are committed. In whose name?” Macron said. “Hamas has never operated in the West Bank!”

By World Israel News Staff

Israeli leaders sharply rebuked French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday after he claimed from the podium of the United Nations General Assembly that Hamas had “never operated” in Judea and Samaria, despite the terrorist organization’s longstanding activity in the territory.

Macron made the assertion while delivering a speech heavily focused on Israel and the Palestinians, calling for full recognition of Palestinian rights and arguing that the establishment of a Palestinian state was also necessary for Israel’s security.

“What we need is respect for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, for their legitimate right to exist,” Macron said. “This is a necessary condition for the security of the people of Israel and for the very existence of their state, to which we are deeply committed.”

Turning to Judea and Samaria, Macron accused Israel of daily violations and argued that Israeli policies were making Palestinian statehood increasingly impossible.

“Look at what is happening in the West Bank, where every day violations are committed. In whose name?” Macron said. “Hamas has never operated in the West Bank!”

The claim prompted a furious response from Jerusalem, with Israeli officials pointing to Hamas’s established presence in Judea and Samaria and, in particular, a deadly terrorist attack carried out just two days earlier.

“The grotesque absurdity of Emmanuel Macron’s statement is staggering,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The PMO pointed to the murder of Netanel Shakron, a French citizen and father of six who was killed Sunday in a Hamas terrorist attack in Judea and Samaria.

“On Sunday, the eve of Yom Kippur, just two days ago, Netanel Shakron — a FRENCH CITIZEN and father of six — was murdered in his car by a Hamas terrorist in Judea and Samaria,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

“With his final breath, he told his son to run.”

The PMO said the attack was far from an isolated example of Hamas activity in the area.

“Hamas terrorists carry out attacks against Jews almost every day,” the statement continued. “They have murdered countless Israeli civilians in Judea and Samaria.”

“Ignorance is NO EXCUSE for erasing their blood,” it concluded.

Hamas does not control Judea and Samaria as it does Gaza, but the terrorist organization maintains networks and operatives there and has repeatedly sought to organize and carry out attacks against Israelis.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also accused Macron of making a false statement, pointing to Shukrun’s murder as evidence.

“President Macron is lying,” Smotrich wrote on X.

“This is just one attack out of hundreds of attacks led by Hamas, which fuels Arab terrorism in Judea and Samaria,” he added.

Macron, meanwhile, continued his criticism of Israeli policy, arguing that Israeli actions in Judea and Samaria were undermining rather than strengthening the country’s security.

“All those who claim that Israel’s security comes through violating the sovereignty of all its neighbors are making a fatal mistake,” Macron said. “They are weakening Israel’s security.”

The French president also defended international recognition of a Palestinian state, dismissing criticism that such recognition amounted to little more than a symbolic gesture.

“Last year, right here, there were about a dozen countries that recognized Palestine,” Macron said. “I hear the cynicism of some people: ‘Recognition on paper, look at the reality.’ But what is our credibility if we continue to remain inactive in the face of Gaza?”

Macron’s remarks and the Israeli response highlighted the widening diplomatic rift between Paris and Jerusalem over the Palestinian issue, with Israeli officials accusing the French president of ignoring the reality of Hamas terrorism while pressing Israel to make concessions toward Palestinian statehood.

Belleville Synagogue Attack Suspect Is Dead, Police Watchdog Says

Suspect was critically injured in shootout with police.

The man accused of opening fire outside a Belleville, Ont., synagogue on Sept. 20 has died after being critically wounded in a shootout with police.
Special Investigations Unit spokesperson Kristy Denette told reporters a suspect arrived at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in a truck armed with a shotgun as worshippers were celebrating Yom Kippur.

The suspect allegedly opened fire at a Belleville police officer stationed outside the synagogue located in a residential area of the eastern Ontario city, Denette said.

“He discharged his firearm at a police officer and then that police officer returned fire and then there was a second officer who arrived and then also discharged a firearm,” she said.

Belleville Police Service Deputy Chief Sheri Meeks identified the suspect as 29-year-old Quinte West resident Sean Ward during a joint Sept. 21 press conference with the SIU. Quinte West shares a border with the City of Belleville and is roughly two hours east of Toronto.
Ward died later that night after succumbing to his injuries, the SIU has confirmed. An autopsy will be performed on Sept. 23 in Kingston, Ont.
A Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) spokesperson has confirmed to The Epoch Times that a former member named Sean Ward matches the description of the shooting suspect.
“He joined the CAF in July 2017 and released in June 2022 at the rank of corporal,” National Defence communications officer Andrée-Anne Poulin said in an emailed statement. “He served as an infantry soldier with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and did not deploy during his service.”
Poulin said the CAF remains “ready to provide assistance to the investigation if required.”
Ward died at the scene of the shooting but was revived by emergency service personnel, officials said.

Const. Jeff Smith, a 13-year veteran of the force and a member of its emergency response unit, was also shot during the altercation, Meeks said. He remains in critical but stable condition.

“I am relieved to share that Const. Smith is recovering in the intensive care unit,” Meeks said. “While he continues to face a significant road to recovery, his condition has stabilized, and we remain hopeful and encouraged by his progress.”

Const. Smith and Ward were both transported to Kingston General Hospital in the aftermath of the shootout that forced more than 25 worshippers inside the synagogue to take shelter as bullets hit the stained-glass windows.

One of the congregants, Douglas Lobel, said the incident lasted for two to three minutes but it “seemed like an eternity.”

Lobel said a police officer eventually entered the synagogue to check whether anyone had been wounded, and confirmed no one inside was hurt. He described the injured officer as a “hero” and said the outcome could have been much different if the officer had not been stationed there.

Denette confirmed the shooter fired between 20 and 30 shots and said police also fired multiple rounds.

“There are dozens of bullet holes in the street behind me and some homes were hit,” she told reporters. “There are some vehicles with shot-out windows, that sort of thing, so it would have been quite the scene.”

Investigation

The authorities have yet to establish a motive and have not said whether the Sons of Jacob Synagogue or the Jewish community was the target of the weekend attack.

Belleville police is conducting the criminal investigation into the incident and the SIU, a civilian government agency, is conducting a separate investigation into the police-involved shooting, Denette said.

A team of four SIU investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case and will be reviewing body-worn and in-car camera footage to see how the officers used their firearms, she added.

Meeks said the shooting has profoundly impacted Belleville’s Jewish community, especially because it happened outside the synagogue during Yom Kippur, Judaism’s most sacred observance.

“Anti-Semitism, hate and violence have no place in our community,” Meeks said. “Every person deserves to feel safe when attending a place of worship.”

The synagogue cancelled its remaining Yom Kippur services following the shooting and Meeks said police have increased patrols throughout the city, including around places of worship.

Meeks said the police force is “committed to being as transparent as possible and keeping our community informed,” but cannot comment on their investigation while the SIU carries out its own probe.

Middle East Madness > Did Trump deliver $3bn to Tehran? USAID confirms 100+ UNRWA staff connected to Hamas on Oct 7; Palestinian War Crimes - UN

Israeli media outlet says Trump secretly sent $3,000,000,000 to Iran to bribe Islamic Republic not to strike Israel

Would Trump have done this, despite his previous disdain for Obama’s nuclear deal, and the billions that Obama sent to Tehran in addition to concluding that disastrous agreement? Sure he would. Trump is now avid to make a deal with the Islamic Republic that will bring down gas prices and allow him to claim victory (as well as, finally, get that Nobel Peace Prize he so desperately covets). He is drawing red line after red line for the leaders of the Islamic Republic and then allowing them to cross those red lines with impunity. He has ordered Israel not to retaliate to Iranian strikes, and shrugged off Iranian violations of his ridiculous ceasefire as unimportant, signaling for Tehran and all the world that he lacks the will to fight and will give anything, anything to the leaders of Iran’s Islamic regime if they’ll just let him play peacemaker. So why not three billion dollars?

Foreign Media Claim $3 Billion in Iranian Assets Transferred to Tehran

WANA, June 9, 2026:

WANA (Jun 09) – Several foreign and Israeli media outlets have claimed that $3 billion worth of Iranian assets was transferred from Abu Dhabi to Tehran on a recent flight, reportedly as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation in the region.

According to a report by Israel’s Kan broadcaster, the assets were transferred to Tehran on a flight from Abu Dhabi. The report alleges that, in return, Iran was asked to halt its attacks against Israel. Kan further claimed that the message accompanying the transfer, reportedly delivered on behalf of the United States, included assurances that Israel would suspend its military operations in Lebanon.

The report also stated that the exchange of messages was facilitated by a Qatari delegation and that the aircraft carrying the assets successfully landed in Tehran.

Meanwhile, the Western media outlet IntelWatch made a similar claim, alleging that the aircraft that flew from Abu Dhabi to Tehran the previous day was carrying $3 billion. According to the report, the transfer was intended to build trust with Iran and help prevent the outbreak of a wider regional conflict….

USAID Confirms Israeli Claims: More Than 100 UNRWA Staff in Gaza Connected to Hamas

By
6 Comments

When the IDF entered Gaza, it discovered that Hamas was using UNRWA facilities, including schools, hospitals, and mosques, to hide both combatants and weapons, including launching pads for missiles. Underneath UNRWA headquarters in Gaza, Hamas had built its main command-and-control center. The IDF also discovered lists of Hamas members, and could cross-check them against a list of UNRWA staff. These findings led Israel to charge that many members of UNRWA were also members of Hamas, and that dozens of UNRWA staff had taken part in the atrocities carried out on Oct. 7, 2023. UNRWA, of course, denied this.

Now an organ of the American government, USAID, has issued a report that confirms Israel’s claims. More on the USAID report on UNRWA staff members and their links to Hamas can be found here:

Over 100 UNRWA staff referred to US State Department over Hamas ties, Oct. 7 attacks

by Danielle Greyman-Kennard, Jerusalem Post, June 9, 2026:

USAID has referred 101 current or former UNRWA staff members to the US State Department for suspension or disbarment over their role in the October 7 massacre and/or affiliation with Hamas, USAID’s Office of Inspector General reported last week.

School principals, teachers, security personnel, attendants, psychosocial counselors, and medical professionals employed by UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) were among those referred.

Some of them had already been referred by USAID (US Agency for International Development), but additional information was uncovered since the initial application.

Two deputy school principals at an UNRWA institution had served in senior positions in Izzadin al-Qassam, Hamas’s so-called military wing, USAID said.

An UNRWA employee served as a deputy company commander in the Ain Gallout/5th infantry battalion, it said. Another was a squad leader for the Khan Yunis Brigade/2nd infantry battalion, it added.

A deputy school principal served as a platoon commander in Hamas’s Nuseirat Battalion and had communications responsibilities during the October 7 massacre, USAID said. A teacher delivered two anti-tank missiles to a prescribed location for use in Hamas’s massacre, it said….

“We take these allegations very, very seriously, and any allegation of neutrality breach made against staff will be taken very seriously, and that includes alleged membership in sanctioned Palestinian groups,” an UNRWA spokesperson told The Jerusalem Post.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for neutrality breaches, and that means there is no place in UNRWA for terrorists, or criminals, or those who don’t share the values of the United Nations,” the spokesperson said.

Do you believe UNRWA, that it has “no place for terrorists or criminals” in its ranks? It certainly had quite a large and welcoming place for Hamas members serving on its staff in Gaza for many years. UNRWA also knew perfectly well that Hamas was using its facilities all over Gaza, especially its schools, to hide its members and their weapons, but continued to deny it even after the IDF presented evidence of Hamas’ presence in those facilities. The IDF uncovered an underground Hamas command, control, and data center directly beneath the Gaza City headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. There was no way that the UNRWA staff could not have known about that huge Hamas command-and-control center.

Now USAID has found clear and convincing evidence that 101 staff members of UNRW were also Hamas members, and among them were many who took part in the atrocities carried out on Oct. 7. It is no longer just Israel making this claim, but an agency of the American government. USAID has now referred those 101 current or former UNRWA staff members to the US State Department, which will decide on their suspension or disbarment over their role in the Oct. 7 massacre and/or affiliation with Hamas. But that is not enough. The US no longer provides any financial support to UNRWA. However, its allies continue to do so. The American government should share this USAID report with them, showing the extent of the UNRWA staff links to Hamas, in an attempt to persuade them to also halt their donations to UNRWA.

In addition, the United Nations splits its refugee operations into two completely separate organizations. One is UNRWA, dedicated exclusively to Palestinian refugees, and another, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), handles every other refugee population in the world. Why should the Palestinian refugees be singled out for such special treatment? Why not close down UNRWA and fold its operations into the UNHCR? Furthermore, why should the status of Palestinian refugee be inheritable, so that the grandsons and great-grandsons of the original refugees, of whom there remain about 20,000, should themselves receive international support as “refugees”? The American government should demand that refugee status should not be inheritable; instead of five million so-called “Palestinian refugees” receiving lifetime support, only the 20,000 Palestinians now living who became refugees in the period of late 1947 to 1949 would qualify.

UN Blames Hamas for Torture and Public Execution of Gazans

From the Department of Will Wonders Never Cease comes the news that the UN — the UN! — has published a scathing report accusing Hamas operatives of beating, maiming, and executing Gazans, in a reign of terror in the Strip. More on the report can be found here:

Hamas forces executed, maimed dozens of Palestinians in Gaza, UN report says

Associated Press, June 9, 2026:

Hamas operatives and police units in Gaza beat, maimed and publicly executed dozens of Palestinians during the terror group’s war with Israel in acts amounting to war crimes, according to a United Nations report released today.

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights’ report documents hundreds of cases of extrajudicial punishment in the war-ravaged territory, which it said were often publicized during and afterward to instill fear in the populace.

“These cases involved executions, kneecapping, bone-breaking with metal pipes or cement bricks and beatings and were framed by the perpetrators as punishments for alleged collaboration with Israel, looting humanitarian aid, theft, drug-related offenses or affiliations with internal rivals,” it says.

The commission finds that Hamas-affiliated operatives and police forces were involved in nearly one-fourth of the 249 documented cases — including 108 deaths — from August 2024 to January 2026. The commission specifically investigated cases involving Hamas-affiliated forces but also counted ones attributed to other armed groups….

According to the report, rather than being imposed through courts or judges, the punishments were carried out by Hamas’s military wing and police units….

The UN report cites executions recorded on video, including one of three blindfolded men who were shot by masked men outside Shifa Hospital in September 2025 before a crowd. It describes another public execution a month later, when eight men were dragged into a public square in Gaza City and shot. Both groups were accused of being spies, traitors and collaborators, according to the report.

The instances, the commission says, “amount to the war crime of murder and to a violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, including the right to life, the right to liberty and security and the right to a fair trial.”…

Apparently those marching in our streets and on our campuses, denouncing the colonial-settler apartheid genocidal state of Israel, have had no indignation left to direct at Hamas itself, which tortures and executes Gazans who dare to speak out against it. Will this report, which the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights so surprisingly issued, persuade them to also direct their anger at Hamas for its horrific treatment of Gazan civilians? Don’t be silly.
