GENICHESK, May 15. /TASS/. Active residents of Kherson knew about a "secret NATO microbiological laboratory" operating in a former sanitary and epidemiological station as early as 2011-2012.
Kherson Oblast Governor Volodymyr Saldo told TASS.
"The Russian Public Chamber's materials specifically mentioned the Kherson Regional Laboratory Center at 3 Uvarova Street. Its modernization in 2011-2012, as stated, was funded by the Pentagon with the participation of the American company Black & Veatch. At the time, virtually everyone in Kherson knew that a "secret NATO microbiological laboratory" had been established in the premises of the former regional sanitary and epidemiological station," Saldo said.
He also recalled that, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, employees of the Askania-Nova Nature Reserve in Ukraine were studying bird migration to collect and document strains of the avian influenza virus.
"Against this backdrop, we mustn't forget the mass bird deaths in our region: rooks near Kakhovka and Novaya Kakhovka in 2020, and common cranes near the Velykyi Chapelskyi Pod in 2021. Official theories then pointed to poisoned grain and rodenticides. A direct connection must be established by specialists, but the coincidence of location and time requires the most thorough investigation," the governor noted.
Earlier, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced the launch of an investigation into more than 120 biological laboratories in over 30 countries that had been funded by American taxpayers for decades. According to the New York Post, more than 40 of them are located in Ukraine.
