German state media host calls Palestinians

'worse than animals'

Veteran anchor Bettina Boettinger has claimed that people in Gaza lack dignity
German state media host calls Palestinians worse than animals

Veteran German TV host Bettina Boettinger has claimed that Palestinians celebrating the exchange of hostages under an Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal are worse than animals.

Last week, West Jerusalem and the Gaza-based militant group agreed to suspend hostilities after 15 months of intense fighting. The deal envisages the release of all hostages by both sides. On Sunday Hamas released three Israeli hostages held since October 7, 2023, while West Jerusalem freed multiple Palestinian prisoners.

On Monday, Boettinger, a long-standing employee of the German state broadcaster WDR, reacted on X to a post shared by another account, which branded Palestinian civilians celebrating the prisoner exchange alongside armed militants as “animals.” She responded in German: “No, animals have dignity, which these idiots do not have.”

The veteran TV personality has been with WDR since 1985 and is currently a co-anchor of the ‘Koelner Treff’ talk show, a position she assumed in 2017, according to her bio. Boettinger has also hosted the ceremonies of prestigious German media awards, including Grimme-Preis and Deutsche Kamerapreis.

Israel vowed to destroy Hamas, after the group’s October 7, 2023 raid. Some 1,100 people were killed and over 200 hostages were taken to Gaza during the incursion. The Israeli military response has resulted in massive damage in the Palestinian enclave and the loss of at least 46,000 lives, according to local health officials.

Local health officials working for Hamas. The numbers are undoubtedly inflated like everything else that comes out of Palestinian sources.

The violence has not been confined to Israel and Gaza. The Israeli secret services and military have targeted Lebanon in a campaign to cripple the militant group Hezbollah, which supports Hamas. Direct exchanges of missile strikes by Israel and Iran also marked a major escalation of the rivalry between the two regional powers.

Iran also supplies the Houthis in Yemen who also attack Israel with drones and missiles regularly.

France won’t bring back Muslims who left the country to join the Islamic State

At last, a glimmer of common sense. “These individuals went to Syria by their own decision to fight in the ranks of Daesh/ISIS,” Lemoine said. Why should French citizens be put into danger, as they would be if these people returned and were acquitted, as could all too easily happen?

France refuses to return nationals detained in Syria to stand trial for involvement in terrorism

by Esra Taskin, AA, January 18, 2025:

The French Foreign Ministry said that it does not want its nationals who are detained in northeastern Syria for their alleged membership in the Daesh/ISIS terror group to face trial in France.

Anadolu asked Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Christophe Lemoine if France is considering bringing back French nationals “held by the Syrian Democratic Forces — mostly composed of members of the YPG/PKK terrorist group — to put them on trial?”

“There are many French nationals detained in northeastern Syria. Let me reiterate, these individuals went to Syria by their own decision to fight in the ranks of Daesh/ISIS,” Lemoine responded in a weekly news conference.

“In our view, they should be tried in the nearest place to where the crimes were committed. This has always been a principle we have been consistent about.”…

France’s policy has drawn international criticism. Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently accused Paris of avoiding responsibility to repatriate detained nationals, and he urged France to prosecute them domestically to address security concerns.

Child and adult killed in knife attack in German park

Europe

Two people, including a child, were killed and two others were severely injured in a stabbing attack in a park in the southern German town of Aschaffenburg on Wednesday. A suspect from Afghanistan was arrested at the scene in Schoental park, German police said.

knife attack in the German town of Aschaffenburg in Bavaria killed an adult and a toddler, German police said on Wednesday.

A 41-year old man and a two-year old boy were fatally injured, police said in a post on social media platform X. Two seriously injured people were receiving hospital treatment.

A 28-year-old man from Afghanistan was arrested following the knife attack in Schoental park, an English-style garden in the Bavarian city.

Police said there was no indication of further suspects and no danger to the public. The police also said they did not immediately know the motive for the attack, but that it was not terrorism.

Police say the stupidest things sometimes. Especially in Europe when Muslims are involved.

Train services in the town were temporarily interrupted as the suspect tried to flee along the tracks, German news agency dpa reported. However, he was quickly detained, police wrote on X.

Police asked possible witnesses to come forward. They did not release any details about the identities of the victims or the suspect.

The stabbing adds to a string of violent attacks in Germany that have raised concerns over security and stirred up tensions over migration ahead of parliamentary elections on February 23.

A Saudi doctor was arrested after a car-ramming attack at a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg on December 20, in which six people were killed and around 200 injured.

But, I'm sure it wasn't a terrorist attack, like our Afghan murderer, he just happened to be Muslim.
