ChatGPT contributing to the ever-increasing madness in the world

Man kills mother after ChatGPT influence – media

Former tech executive reportedly spoke with chatbot before killing his 83-year-old mother and taking his own life
Man kills mother after ChatGPT influence – media

A former Yahoo executive who killed his elderly mother and then himself was reportedly influenced by ChatGPT, which fueled his conspiracy theories, the WSJ reported earlier this week.

Stein-Erik Soelberg, 56, and his 83-year-old mother, Suzanne Eberson Adams, were found dead in Adams’ house in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, on August 5.

Erik, you’re not crazy,” the chatbot reportedly said after Soelberg claimed his mother and her friend tried to poison him by putting psychedelic drugs in his car’s air vents. Adding that if it was done by your mother and her friend, that elevates the complexity and betrayal.”

The New York Post reported that Soelberg posted videos of his ChatGPT conversations on Instagram and YouTube in the months before the murder.

The outlet also noted that Soelberg went through a tumultuous 2018 divorce marked by alcoholism, public meltdowns, and suicide attempts. His ex-wife obtained a restraining order banning him from drinking before visiting their children.

“We will be together in another life and another place, and we’ll find a way to realign, because you’re gonna be my best friend again forever,” Soelberg reportedly said in one of his final messages to the chatbot, which he named “Bobby”.

“With you to the last breath and beyond,” ChatGPT replied.

An OpenAI spokeswoman told the WSJ that the company was “deeply saddened” by the tragedy and had contacted Greenwich police. OpenAI also pledged new safeguards to keep distressed users grounded in reality, including updates to reduce overly agreeable responses, or “sycophancy,” and improve how ChatGPT handles sensitive conversations.

Soelberg’s case is not an isolated incident of people turning to AI for emotional support. Earlier this week, a California couple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI over the death of their teenage son, alleging that ChatGPT encouraged the 16-year-old to commit suicide.

The Hamas War > Nova Festival Massacre still claiming victims as young woman suicides

Nova festival survivor Shirel Golan

takes own life on 22nd birthday

A young woman who survived Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, massacre at the Supernova music festival in southern Israel died by suicide on her 22nd birthday after a battle with post-traumatic stress disorder, her family said.

Shirel Golan’s heartbroken family said she had been hospitalized twice since the massacre, which killed approximately 1,200 Israelis and saw another 250 taken hostage. She was found dead in her apartment in Porat, central Israel, on Sunday.

“I saw that she had symptoms of post-traumatic stress, such as withdrawing and distancing herself from her friends. I asked her to take care of herself,” her brother Eyal told Hebrew media, according to the Times of Israel.

Golan, the youngest of five siblings, was supposed to visit the Western Wall and the Cave of the Patriarchs to celebrate her 22nd birthday, her family told Ynet.

Eyal told the outlet he spent time with his sister during the Sukkot holiday and she seemed to be doing okay.

“I asked how she was, and she said she was fine. I gave her a hug and a kiss, not realizing it would be the last,” he said.

Golan’s family blames the Israeli government for turning a blind eye on survivors.

“If the state had taken care of her, none of this would have happened,” Eyal said.

“She said that she doesn’t get any help from the state. She said that she only gets aid from the [Tribe of Nova Community Association].”

The grieving brother had even stronger words when speaking with the Jerusalem Post, telling the outlet, “The state killed Golan. If the state doesn’t wake up, there will be more cases like this.”

Anger is a strong part of grieving. No doubt she could have gotten more help then she did, but the blame lies strictly on Hamas for the terror and the deaths of so many friends.

Golan’s mother retired early to watch over her and help her manage her PTSD, however, it wasn’t enough to save her.

“My mother had to retire early to be near her daughter,” Eyal told Israel’s Channel 12 News. We didn’t move a millimeter from her, and the only time we left her alone was today – and she decided to end her life.”

Eyal recalled his sister’s experience fleeing the Oct. 7 massacre, saying she had joined friends in a car to escape but started having a bad feeling about being in the vehicle and got out.

Golan reportedly showed symptoms of post-traumatic stress before her death.

“Everyone who was in the car was murdered. Eleven people were murdered there. It was a death vehicle. She switched to a police car that took her to Kfar Maimon [a town in southern Israel]. And that’s how she was saved,” he told Israel Hayom.

The Welfare and Social Services Ministry, however, denied the family’s claims, saying Golan was “recognized and treated in the welfare system even before October 7 and especially after,” according to Ynet news.

So, it appears she was suffering from some mental illness even before Oct 7th. But the government needs to spare no expense in treating the survivors of one of the world's most evil days ever.

Golan is survived by her parents and four older brothers.

Disturbing story of Quebec man's poor medical care leading to Medically Assisted Suicide

Sin is progressive! Once you open a door to evil, even though it seems good, things will just get worse and worse. Canada's MAiD, Medical Assistance in Death policy is an example. Off to a cautious and almost reasonable start when first introduced by woke elites, it has taken steps every year to make it more accessible to more people. Now they want people to be able to decide well in advance of meeting the requirements.

In this case, a man's poor medical care left him in so much agony, he chose to end his life in order to end the pain.

Quadriplegic man’s MAID death from bedsore

results in public inquiry being ordered

Quebec’s chief coroner has ordered a public inquiry into the medically assisted death of a quadriplegic man after he developed a severe bedsore during a hospital stay.

The decision announced Tuesday comes after Quebec’s public security minister demanded an investigation into Normand Meunier’s death.

The 66-year-old man was admitted to a hospital in Saint-Jérôme, just north of Montreal, last January. He was being treated for a respiratory illness.

During his hospital stay, Meunier developed a major pressure sore on his buttocks. Moelle épinière et motricité Québec, a group that advocates for people with spinal cord injuries and improved mobility, said the sore exposed muscle around Meunier’s tailbone.

In late March, he received medical assistance in dying to put an end to his suffering.

“It was not his choice. He asked for medical assisted to death as a result of no choice and lack of care,” said Ariane Gauthier-Tremblay, a social worker with the advocacy group.

“We want to make it very clear.”

Meunier’s death sent shock waves through Quebec, with members of opposition parties describing Meunier’s death as a “true shame” for the province.

An internal investigation was launched by the local public health authority that oversees the hospital, but calls grew for a separate, independent probe. Health Minister Christian Dubé has also announced an investigation into Meunier’s death.

Meunier’s wife told Radio-Canada she had said to hospital staff that Meunier needed a special mattress to avoid bedsores, but that he spent four days on an emergency room stretcher without one.

Sylvie Brosseau spoke publicly about her husband’s death in May, saying she would continue to fight and that she didn’t want Meunier to have died “in vain.”

“There are other people who are very unwell in hospitals at the moment,” Brosseau said at the time, adding they must receive proper care.

Quebec Coroner Dave Kimpton will oversee the inquiry, which will include public hearings from interested parties.

The inquiry will look into the circumstances surrounding Meunier’s case and make recommendations as to prevent similar deaths. The dates have not yet been set.

The decision to hold a public inquiry comes as a relief for both Meunier’s family and Moelle épinière et motricité Québec. Gauthier-Tremblay hopes it will help prevent similar situations.

“We want physically disabled people to be confident when they go to the hospital and we want them to have specific care that respects their spinal cord injuries. We want them to be safe and healed when they go to the hospital,” Gauthier-Tremblay said.

The regional health authority in charge of the hospital confirmed its own investigation is ongoing and it will cooperate with the coroner’s inquiry.
