Ozzone 8-21 > Do you trust the Lord more than your money? This is a vital question.

 

Look again at the thief on the cross – he had nothing to lose, whereas the rich young ruler had much wealth. He knew who Jesus was (is) but he had more faith in his wealth than he did in Jesus. The same with Ananias and Sapphira, who actually went so far as to sell all that they had, but then withheld some of it from the poor. Why? Well, probably because they didn’t trust Peter, or Jesus, to look after them so they wanted a stash that they could fall back onto if things didn’t work out. They trusted money more than they trusted the Lord, so much so that they lied to the Holy Spirit. 

Please examine yourself to see if you fit in the same category as the rich young ruler, or Ananias and Sapphira.

Ozzone 8-18 > Do you have riches of some sort that you are not willing to sacrifice?

 

Have you ever studied the contrast between the rich, young ruler and the thief on the cross? The thief realized who Jesus is and humbly asked to be remembered although he knew he didn’t deserve it. The rich, young ruler also realized who Jesus is, but came to him confident that he had kept the Law and probably expected to hear the Lord praise him. But the Lord pulled the rug out from under his feet and sent him home in dismay. Peter said, “We have left all and followed You.” And Jesus praised those who have done so. Luke 18:28-30. Do you have riches of some sort that you are not willing to sacrifice?
