Tucker Carlson claims he used to say Muslims ‘all want to kill us, they’re all crazy,’ but no longer believes it

Tucker Carlson never actually said “The problem is Islam. The problem is Muslims. They all want to kill us. They’re all crazy. They’re all in this lunatic suicide cult created by Muhammad in the 7th century.”

Tucker Carlson is committing the all too common fallacy of conflating Islam and Muslims. In reality, to say that there are problems with Islam, or even that “the problem with Islam,” doesn’t say anything about “all Muslims,” because there are degrees of knowledge of the religion and commitment to it among Muslims, just as there are among adherents of all religions. No serious analyst ever says “all Muslims want to kill us,” or that all the members of any group want to do anything. If Tucker Carlson had ever said on his Fox show or anywhere else that “all Muslims want to kill us,” he would have been the object of screaming headlines, excoriating him for his “Islamophobia” and demanding that he retract, apologize, end his show, and do various forms of public penance such as visiting a mosque or chatting with officials of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). None of that ever happened, because Tucker never said this.

Also, those of us who did dare to point out that Islam had doctrines of warfare against unbelievers were smeared, defamed, marginalized, deplatformed, and silenced. If Tucker Carlson had said this, which we were accused of saying but that none of us ever actually said, he would never have been allowed to continue to occupy his massive platform.

Compounding Tucker Carlson’s dishonesty here is the fact that he is also making claims about Islam and dismissing those claims as “hysterical,” and will never allow anyone who believes that there is a problem with Islam, or that the problem is Islam, onto his show to discuss it with him. He is, of course, free to feature anyone he wants, but his is not exactly a platform for open and honest discussion of the relevant issues that will allow for opinions that differ from those that Tucker Carlson holds. That also is his right, but when he makes sweeping claims that are false, as he does here, he does his audience an even greater disservice than usual. What about the Qur’an’s violent teachings? What about Islam’s doctrines of conquest and subjugation? Do they simply not exist now because Tucker Carlson says they’re hysterical?

Unfortunately, the jihadis are not uncomfortable with this particular brand of hysteria, and will keep advancing, no matter what Tucker Carlson says.

Tucker Carlson Retracts Past Rhetoric on Islam, Condemns Trump Over Iran

Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson on Thursday publicly disavowed his previous hostile statements regarding Islam and issued a sharp critique of Donald Trump’s foreign policy record.

Carlson characterized his own past rhetoric as hysterical and explicitly retracted his claims that Muslims belonged to a suicide cult.

The remarks signal a significant ideological shift for the prominent media figure.

Carlson stated that he previously believed and propagated the idea that Islam was the primary threat to the West.

He admitted to frequently claiming on television that Muslims wanted to kill Americans and were part of a lunatic cult.

He now rejects these statements entirely.

“Nothing about that is true, but I believed it,” Carlson said. He described his former mindset as hysterical and acknowledged the falsehood of his previous assertions….

Carlson offered a stark condemnation of current Israeli government actions, arguing they contradict the foundational principles of Western civilization.

He accused Israel of abandoning individual justice in favor of an evil standard of blood guilt.

He rejected the premise that defending Western civilization requires defending Israel.

Instead, Carlson asserted that his opposition to Israeli policies stems directly from his commitment to Western values.

He added that the modern state of Israel bears no resemblance to the country he first visited decades ago….

Such a dramatic turnaround in opinion causes a conspiracy theorist like me to wonder if one of two things might have happened to Carlson and two of my once-favourite female journalists:

1. A serious turning away from God, 

2. A sudden infusion of a whole lot of money with the smell of Arab oil on it.

But that's probably just me.

Billions in federal contracts awarded to ‘Indigenous’ enterprises without verification

The Canadian government awarded billions of dollars in contracts earmarked for Indigenous enterprises without always requiring bidders to prove that they were First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, a Global News investigation has found. 

A program that now helps Indigenous businesses land more than $1.6 billion in contract awards annually, the Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business (PSIB), used to rely largely on an honour system, said Anispiragas Piragasanathar, a spokesman representing federal departments.

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), which currently vets applicants, and the departments that preceded it going back to 1996, did not always demand status cards or other documents from vendors until 2022, according to Piragasanathar’s statement.

I wonder if they had to show a Liberal Party membership card? Sorry! I'm just a bit cynical. But Liberals are awfully generous to their friends.

“In years past,” he explained, “businesses were required to sign an attestation” that they were Indigenous. They also faced the possibility of an audit, he said.

In 2022, ISC tightened the requirements by demanding documentation from new applicants, Piragasanathar said. He did not explain why.

The Trudeau government has directed billions of dollars to Indigenous businesses over the past two years, but never addressed the PSIB’s underlying problems, according to a collaborative investigation between Global News and researchers at First Nations University of Canada. The program has recently come under fire from federal MPs for negligent auditing practices that potentially allow non-Indigenous businesses to exploit the system at the expense of Indigenous enterprises — and their communities.

In the absence of consistent scrutiny, the joint investigation revealed widespread reports of non-Indigenous enterprises using questionable methods to get around the PSIB’s minimum requirements. The program stipulates that Indigenous peoples must have 51 per cent ownership and control of the business.

The alleged schemes include a non-Indigenous company paying an Indigenous-identifying person to pose as its owner or using an Indigenous company as a front to access the PSIB.

Indigenous leaders and organizations have warned federal officials about the “shell companies” taking advantage of the PSIB since 1999, but ISC has not closed these gaps.

The program’s guidelines also do not clearly define who qualifies as Indigenous, and Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hadju told the CBC in February that vetting is challenging.

Billions of dollars in public funds — and Ottawa’s attempts at economic reconciliation — are at stake.

Beginning in 2022, the Trudeau government ordered federal workers in up to 96 departments to begin purchasing at least five per cent of all goods and services from Indigenous businesses.

Contracts awarded to Indigenous businesses skyrocketed from $100 million in 2018 to $1.6 billion — 6.3 per cent of all eligible federal spending — in fiscal year 2022-2023, boasts a recent government report.

Thawennontie Thomas, co-owner of LaFlesche Inc., a plastics manufacturing company based on Kahnawake Mohawk Territory near Montreal, said it’s “commonly known” among Indigenous executives that non-Indigenous businesses are taking advantage of the PSIB.

In the community of Indigenous federal contractors, he occasionally spots competitors who set off “red flags,” he said, because he and his team never meet the Indigenous owner.

And when LaFlesche applied to join the PSIB early in the pandemic, he said, ISC did not require proof of his or his co-owners’ Indigeneity.

“No question asked,” Thomas said.

Piragasanathar responded that ISC had asked LaFlesche for documents proving its Indigeneity, and had always required proof of Indigeneity. But, he noted, “the department’s methods of verifying eligibility have changed over the years and ISC cannot speak to past practices.”

And ISC employees have been working to verify that the more than 2,800 businesses listed in the Indigenous Business Directory are indeed eligible for the program, Piragasanathar said, referring to the registry that federal workers use to search for Indigenous suppliers.

Piragasanathar did not respond directly when asked how many non-Indigenous enterprises ISC’s checks have revealed.

If ISC employees find any, those businesses “would no longer be eligible for procurement set asides for Indigenous business,” he said.

Who is benefiting?

Little information is available publicly about whether the PSIB has uplifted First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities though it has been in operation for nearly three decades.

Indigenous leaders asked in 2019 for this information to be posted publicly. ISC said it would look into ways to collect this data.

Adding to the lack of transparency, the federal government’s public-facing contract databases are unreliable — they include countless duplicate entries that can inflate totals and provide a misleading picture of how Ottawa spends taxpayer dollars.

To determine which Indigenous communities benefit from the PSIB, the collaborative team identified the government’s top 10 Indigenous contractors over the past five years and asked them which communities their owners belonged to. (Learn more about how the investigation unfolded.)

This question is generally welcome among Indigenous people. For many citizens of the more than 600 federally recognized First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities, the term “Indigenous” does not capture the diversity of their languages, cultures and traditions.

US investigates $293 million in missing aid

It should have been obvious to the Biden administration and everyone else that any aid going into Afghanistan would end up in the hands of the Taliban. It already emerged last year that this was exactly the case. But what does the Biden administration care about American taxpayers? According to Forbes in 2021, America already “provided an estimated $83 billion worth of training and equipment to Afghan security forces since 2001. Even CNN reported that the US gave “a total of $18.6 billion of equipment to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) from 2005 to August 2021.” Of that total, “equipment worth $7.12 billion remained in Afghanistan after the US withdrawal was completed on August 30, 2021.”

It has also emerged that the Pakistani Taliban, too, are now using weapons and night vision devices that the Biden administration left behind in Afghanistan. The administration also abandoned Americans in Afghanistan.

Another $293 million of American taxpayer dollars to the Taliban is yet another debacle, to be expected of the Biden administration, with its America-Last policy.

US Investigates Missing Aid Possibly Diverted to Taliban

A recent report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) raises concerns that approximately $293 million in US humanitarian aid intended for Afghanistan may have been diverted to the Taliban. The SIGAR report highlights compliance failures among Afghan bureaus receiving US funds, with only three of five providing the required documentation.

This has led the US State Department to recognize the necessity of an investigation to ensure that aid is not misappropriated. In response, Taliban chief spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid denied the allegations, stating that international aid is managed by NGOs and closely supervised by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Commerce, with no interference from the Taliban…..

The European Commission announced on Friday that it would provide 400 million euros ($435 million) in “short-term emergency financial support” to the ailing Palestinian Authority (PA) on the conditions that it address corruption, reduce unnecessary expenditures, and fix its educational curriculum, which has been widely condemned for promoting antisemitism and hatred of Israel.

The money will be disbursed in the form of grants and loans in three payments between July and September, the commission said in a statement, to address a Palestinian economic crisis which, some European officials fear, could lead to the collapse of the PA.

If that money is to be disbursed in three tranches, in July (which is almost over), August, and September, that is far too soon for the PA to rewrite, publish, and distribute its “new and improved” schoolbooks free from the odious antisemitic passages that for years the PA has promised donors it would remove, but somehow never does get around to it. The $435 million in aid will be pocketed, and those schoolbooks will remain as currently written, the PA will say, because “we haven’t time to prepare the new books…but we will by the end of this school year.” And the EU will accept this excuse, yet again. And how much would you be willing to bet that the PA will, as the EU demurely puts it, “fix its educational curriculum”? Since it has never done so in the past, despite the pleas and threats of donor countries, why should it believe the E.U. really means to enforce its threats now?

A “Letter of Intent” between the commission — the primary executive arm of the European Union (EU) — and the PA outlines the specifics of the funding and the agreed upon conditions needed to be met by the latter to secure the cash injection.

The conditions are aimed at “modernizing institutions, strengthening the rule of law, and reforming the social security system,” among other major reforms, according to the document.

The Letter of Intent mentions specific guidelines for the PA to adopt. To fight corruption, the EU is requiring the PA to enforce a mandatory retirement age for civil servants and to reduce government expenditures by 5 percent, among other measures….

Will the EU demand, as part of “fighting corruption” in the PA, that Mahmoud Abbas and his two sons Tarek and Yasser disgorge the $400 million in aid money they have stolen over the years? Many ordinary Palestinians would applaud that measure — they are sick of Abbas’ corruption, and 80% of those ruled by the Palestinian Authority want Abbas to resign. But disgorging some or all of the aid money he has stolen? There is, of course, no chance that Mahmoud Abbas would agree. The entire PA political echelon is corrupt. His inner circle of loyalists stay loyal, because they, too, are allowed a cut of the foreign aid, though, of course, nothing like the colossal sums that the Abbas family has been helping itself to for nearly twenty years.

As for mandatory retirement ages for all those aging Abbas loyalists in the government who are paid fat salaries, far beyond what they could receive in the private sector, how many people do you think will be forced to retire? These upper-level civil service jobs are what buys the loyalty of the cadre who surround Mahmoud Abbas. He’s not about to force his loyalists to retire. If he did so, he’d simply have to allow younger men, no less corrupt than those who would have retired, to make their fortunes, to take the place of those now required to retire. And should the PA, to satisfy the new EU demand, in fact put a required retirement age in place, at what age would that be reasonable? Assuming a retirement age of 70, or 75, or even 80, is implemented, on what grounds would one man, President Mahmoud Abbas, who is 88 years old, and has not run in a presidential election since 2005, when he was elected to a four-year term, and is now in the nineteenth year of that four-year presidency, be exempt from that mandatory retirement? Is he alone to be above the law? Why didn’t the EU spell out a demand that “everyone in the PA should be subject to the same retirement age,” and then provide a reasonable age limit itself?

The EU could have demanded that the Abbas family return the several hundred million dollars it had stolen. The EU could also have said it would withhold the $435 million aid package until such time as the PA held elections for a new government. 80% of the people in the PA territories want Abbas to resign. He and his sons will keep the $400 million he has stolen. Corruption will continue as the glue that holds the political echelon loyal to Abbas. No elections will be held until Abbas himself retires or, more likely, dies. “Pay-For-Slay” will continue, as the bedrock commitment to the “martyrs” who murder Israelis. And Ursula von der Leyen of the EU will eventually express her “extreme disappointment” at the failure of the PA to meet the conditions imposed on it and her hope that it will finally do so.

Fat chance, Ursula.
