Grand Iftar Takes Place In Bristol Cathedral Nave

Dozens of people gathered in the nave of Bristol Cathedral for Bristol’s annual Grand Iftar.

Following the success of the Grand Iftar on College Green in 2023, the event inside the cathedral was a special collaboration between faith communities in Bristol with the theme of hope.

The evening was organised by Muslims4Bristol in partnership with Bristol Cathedral and Bridges for Communities.

One of the Grand Iftar organisers, Mohamed El Sharif, called the event “unique and historical”.

He said in a Facebook live video: “It’s to show unity and peace and is an interfaith event. This is the first Grand Iftar inside the cathedral, a historical event to happen here with all volunteers…

The Grand Iftar started in Bristol in 2017, shortly after the Manchester Arena bombing.

It has become an opportunity to celebrate Bristol’s diversity, with non-Muslims joining the celebrations to experience the breaking of the fast.

The Grand Iftar on Thursday night was sponsored by Feeding Bristol, Black2Nature, St Peter’s Hospice, IHRM and other community partners.

In recent years, the cathedral has been the location of light shows, concerts and film screenings, as well as a charity fire walk outside.

But none of these attracted the ire of below-the-line commenters, some of who claimed that the Grand Iftar should not have been taking place in a Christian place of worship.

Protesters outside the cathedral carrying Palestine flags also attempted to draw attention to political involvement in the event, with one banner saying: ‘Shame on the Labour Party. While you eat well, children in Gaza are being intentionally starved to death.’…

How wonderfully generous, tolerant, ecumenical, and all that. A few questions: why are Christian services never, ever held in mosques? Why is the “outreach” only one way? Note also that “the Grand Iftar started in Bristol in 2017, shortly after the Manchester Arena bombing.” If a Christian screaming “Jesus is Lord” had committed a massacre in London, would a mosque host a Christian service “to show unity and peace”?

Also, do these Christians really think that this will change what the Qur’an teaches about Christ and Christianity?

Qur’an 98:4-6: “Nor were the people of the book divided until after the clear proof came to them. And they are not ordered to do anything else but serve Allah, keeping religion pure for him, as hanifs, and to establish prayer and to give alms. That is true religion. Indeed, the unbelievers among the people of the book and the idolaters will remain in the fire of Gehenna. They are the most vile of created beings.”

Qur’an 5:14: “And with those who say: Indeed, we are Christians, we made a covenant, but they forgot a part of what they were reminded about. Therefore we have stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the day of resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork.”

Qur’an 5:17: “They indeed have disbelieved who say, Indeed, Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say, Who then can do anything against Allah, if he had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what he wills. And Allah is able to do all things.”

Qur’an 4:157: “And because of their saying, We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the messenger of Allah, they did not kill him nor crucify him, but it seemed so to them, and indeed, those who disagree about this are in doubt about it, they have no knowledge of it except pursuit of a supposition, they did not kill him for certain.

Qur’an 4:171: “O people of the book, do not exaggerate in your religion or say anything about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and his word that he conveyed to Mary, and a spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers, and do not say Three, Stop, it is better for you. Allah is only one God. It is far removed from his transcendent majesty that he should have a son. Everything that is in the heavens and everything that is on the earth is his. And Allah is sufficient as defender.”

Qur’an 5:116: “And when Allah said, O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to mankind, Take me and my mother as two gods besides Allah? He said, Be glorified. It was not for me to say what I had no right to say. If I said it, then you know it. You know what is in my mind, and I do not know what is in your mind. Indeed, you, only you, are the knower of hidden things.”

Qur’an 19:35: “It is not fitting for Allah that he should take to himself a son. Glory be to him, when he decrees a thing, he says to it only, Be, and it is.”

Qur’an 9:30-31: “And the Jews say, Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say, The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the statements of those who disbelieved before. May Allah curse them. How perverse they are. They have taken as lords besides Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah, the son of Mary, when they were called to worship only one God. There is no God except him. May he be glorified from all that they ascribe as partners.”

Qur’an 9:29: “Fight against those do not believe in Allah or the last day, and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, even if they are among the people of the book, until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.”

‘High’ terror threat – Austria increases

The teenager who seriously wounded an Orthodox Jewish man in an antisemitic stabbing attack in Zurich earlier this month was radicalized on the internet while living in Tunisia, Swiss police announced on Monday.

The 50-year-old victim, who has not been named, was badly injured during the March 2 attack but survived his ordeal. The attack, described by Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (SIG) as the most serious antisemitic hate crime in Switzerland in two decades, caused widespread shock and concern among the approximately 18,000 Jews in the country, resulting in enhanced security for Jewish sites in Zurich.

The 15-year-old assailant, who was arrested at the scene of the attack, had already been identified by police as having appeared in a video in which he expressed solidarity with the ISIS terrorist organization and called for a “battle against the Jews.”

Speaking on Monday, Mario Fehr, the head of the police department in the Zurich canton, revealed that the assailant was a Tunisian immigrant who was naturalized in 2011. Between 2017 and 2021, he lived in Tunisia, where, according to Fehr, he became a habitué of Islamist chat rooms online. The teenager remains in pre-trial detention….

3 wounded in terror shooting on school bus

A Palestinian gunman opened fire on a bus carrying students and staff to a local school in the Jordan Valley on Thursday morning, wounding three.

Two of the victims, aged 30 and 21, were shot, while a 13-year-old boy suffered wounds from shrapnel.

One of the men who sustained gunshot wounds is listed as being in serious condition, while the other two victims are in good condition.

A manhunt for the terrorist is currently ongoing, as Israeli security forces search for the perpetrator.

According to police, the assailant also struck two other school buses with gunfire, though miraculously none of the passengers were wounded.

The shooting occurred next to the Palestinian Authority-controlled village of Al-Auja on Route 90, several miles north of Jericho.

“Another attempt to massacre children. This time, a despicable terrorist targeted a school bus in the Jordan Valley. We wish those wounded a speedy recovery and expect the security forces to quickly catch the terrorists and settle the score with them,” said Yesha Council Chairman Shlomo Ne’eman in a media statement.

“We once again demand for the safety of our residents and the residents of the entire State of Israel – it’s time to turn the tide. The Palestinian Authority is waging a war against us, and only action with the same force as in Gaza will eliminate all threats throughout Judea and Samaria,” he added.

“To all those who wish us harm, we say even this morning, we will not give in to terrorism that tries to shed Jewish blood and expel us from our country. We will continue to live and develop without fear or trepidation.”

03/18/2024 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) – A Christian driver was attacked by his Muslim extremist co-workers after he received a promotion in Pakistan. Noel is a father of four and has been working as a driver for the last five years. Because of his hard work, honesty, and punctuality, he was promoted to supervisor. However, his Muslim co-workers refused to work under a Christian supervisor. He didn’t take the threats seriously until it was too late.

When he left the workplace, about half a dozen Muslim coworkers stopped him on the road and they dragged him and thrashed him with clubs and iron rods. They left Noel unconscious on the road where he was found by Good Samaritans and sent him to the local hospital. The mob broke two ribs and two bones in his legs. His face was badly scratched as well….

While the nation is still reeling from the horrific double murder of two Hindu children in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, the Muslims in the hamlet chose to give a ‘hero farewell’ to the slain accused Sajid, who ruthlessly butchered the two minors. Sajid and Javed had stabbed the two Hindu kids Ayush and Ahaan 23 times after slitting their throats on the evening of March 19.

Turning a blind eye to the sheer savagery (read 'madness') displayed by the accused, thousands of people from the Muslim community joined the funeral procession of Sajid. On March 22, social media was rife with pictures of his funeral procession.

Sajid was buried on Thursday (March 21, 2024). His funeral procession was taken out through the Sakhanu village, located approximately 13 kilometres from Badaun. Sajid was a native of the Sakhanu village. Before this, his post-mortem was also done. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his relatives. The surrounding Muslim population had come in large numbers for Sajid’s funeral.

After videos and photos of the funeral procession went viral, several Netizens expressed their rage. “Sajid slit the throats of eleven year-old Ayush and six year-old Ahaan and then reportedly drank their blood. In the holy month of Ramzan. This is the scene from his funeral,” Dr Anand Ranganathan wrote while expressing his anger at the callousness and apathy displayed by the Muslims of the village.

 

Another social media, aghast at the apathy shown by the Muslim community over the brutal murder of two innocent children, shared the picture of Sajid’s funeral procession with the caption, “Watch the funeral procession of the child murderer- Mohammad Sajid in Badaun. Thousands of people are at the funeral procession of Mohammad Sajid. What message does this picture convey?”

Someone else commented, “So much crowd at the funeral of Sajid, the killer of innocent children? It’s as if Sajid has accomplished a significant assignment. This is why there is such a large attendance at his funeral. Think for yourself and decide how many of those in attendance are good and how many are criminals themselves….
