Antisemitism > Like Mother, like daughter - Ilhan Omar's daughter suspended from college for antisemitism

Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, suspended from Barnard

College for her involvement in anti-Israel protests

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, revealed Thursday that she has been suspended from Barnard College over her involvement in disruptive anti-Israel protests on Columbia University’s Morningside campus at which scores of demonstrators were arrested.

“I just received notice that I am 1 of 3 students suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide,” the 21-year-old wrote on X.

“I’m an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest @ColumbiaSJP, in my 3 years at @BarnardCollege I have never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings,” she added.

Hirsi was one of more than 100 protesters who were hauled away in cuffs by the NYPD Thursday afternoon after they erected a tent city on the campus of the $90,000-per-year Ivy League school.

By late afternoon Thursday the protests had dispersed, and cleaning crews were brought in to disassemble and remove dozens of tents that littered the campus.

As the daughter of a controversial and outspoken congresswoman, whose own eyebrow-raising statements have led to accusations of being anti-American and anti-Semitic, Hirsi has spent much of her life attending demonstrations.

She attended her first protest at age six, according to Vice. In 2015, at 12, Hirsi joined her family at a Black Lives Matter protest that forced Mall of America to shut down and required over 200 police officers, including 50 riot cops to restore order.

On Thursday, Hirsi and the two other students – identified as Maryam Iqbal and Soph Dinu — received notice of their suspension from Barnard Dean, Leslie Grinage, the anti-Israel student group Apartheid Divest said in a statement.

Muslim Father in Uganda Burns Daughter for Converting to Christianity - War on Christianity

MAY 26, 2020

A 24-year-old woman in Uganda was beaten and burned all over her body by her father, a teacher of Islam, when he found out about her conversion to Christianity, according to Morning Star News.

Rehema Kyomuhendo was traveling with her father on a business trip in Uganda and was delayed making the 305 mile trek home due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

During this time, Kyomuhendo began listening to Christian programing on the radio and after doing more independent research about the religion, soon accepted it as her newfound faith.

Her father, Sheikh Hussein Byaruhanga Husain, a teacher of Islam, allegedly overheard his daughter’s excitement over her conversion to Christianity and immediately began to beat her—kicking and slapping.

Furious, he even allegedly threatened to kill his own daughter.

In a rage, he reportedly grabbed a jerrican and lit it on fire, taking it to Kyomuhendo’s body and burning her as she screamed in pain. The aunt that the two were staying with at the time rushed to protect her niece and carried her outside, awaiting help from a Christian neighbor.

She was raced to Mbale Regional Referral hospital where she will remain for over a month, according to reports, while being treated for burns all over her body, including on her stomach, neck, back, ribs, and leg.

Even though religious freedom and conversion is legal within Uganda, no police report has been filed, reportedly out of fear for how the Sheikh will react.

Many Muslim communities in the area view preaching or converting to Christianity as a grave offense. This is not an isolated incidence of religious persecution, particularly for Christians.

According to the Open Doors World Watch List for 2020, there are about 260 million Christians that experience high levels of persecution across the top 50 countries on this list.

Uganda does not even rank in the top 50 on this list.

Almost 3,000 Christians have been killed in this past year alone, meaning about 8 Christians are killed every day due to their faith.

Even more Christians have been detained without a trial, arrested, and imprisoned, with over 9,400 churches or Christian buildings attacked.

These last two sentences are global numbers, not just Uganda.

Corruption is Everywhere and Certainly in South Korean Government

S. Korean Justice Minister resigns over corruption allegations

By Yonhap News Agency

(UPI) -- In an unexpected move, Justice Minister Cho Kuk offered to resign Monday amid an ongoing probe into corruption allegations involving his family.

"I judged I should not add a burden to the president and the government regarding my family affairs. I think the time has come for me to step down for the successful completion of prosecution reform," he said in a statement.

"I was mere 'kindling' for reforming the prosecution. My role as 'kindling' has come to an end."

President Moon Jae-in formally accepted Cho's resignation offer, Cheong Wa Dae said. The president signed a related document at 5:38 p.m., Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Ko Min-jung, said.

Cho was widely seen as the key official to push ahead Moon's prosecution reform drive.

Moon earlier voiced regret over Cho's decision to quit but also applauded his efforts to push forward with the reform drive.

"I had hoped for a prosecution reform by the fantastic combination of Justice Minister Cho and Prosecutor-General Yoon Seok-youl, but it has become a dream-like hope," he said in a meeting with senior aides, according to the presidential office.

The president also said that Cho helped raise awareness of the need for prosecution reform and created "big traction" toward that end.

The surprise announcement comes amid a widening probe over alleged corruption by his family. His wife is suspected of forging a university award to help the couple's daughter gain admission to medical school and of involvement in a dubious private equity fund investment.

It also comes roughly a month after Cho, who previously served as a senior presidential aide for civil affairs, was appointed justice minister despite heated opposition from the conservative bloc.

The president appointed Cho to the post on Sept. 9, saying it would be a "bad precedent" to not appoint Cho solely based on allegations that have not been confirmed, referring to doubts over his family.

Just a few hours earlier, Cho held his second press briefing as a justice minister on measures to reform the prosecution. Cho stressed the importance of reforming the prosecution.

"South Korea's power comes from the people. No power can stand above the people. An organizational culture that is for the people and that is people-centric should be established at the prosecution," he said.

In the statement indicating his resignation offer, Cho mentioned the ongoing probes of his family.

"I felt apologetic to the people regarding the ongoing probes of my family but put in my best each day as justice minister to reform the prosecution. But now my role has come to an end," he said.

"Now I hope to put everything down and take care of my family, who are going through the toughest and most painful time of their lives."

Cho's family, including his wife, daughter and son, have been questioned by the prosecution several times regarding suspicions over the family's private equity investment and college admission.

A court procedure involving his wife, a university professor surnamed Chung, was scheduled to start Friday.

The controversy surrounding Cho developed into a social phenomenon involving the issues of education, political beliefs and judicial reform.

Tens of thousands of people held candlelight rallies in southern Seoul over three weekends, voicing support for Cho and his prosecution reform plans.

Opponents, however, also staged massive protests in Gwanghwamun, demanding his resignation. Conservative politicians even went on to shave their heads in groups in protest of Cho's appointment.

The issue sparked a debate on fairness in the education system as critics claimed Cho's children enjoyed benefits that landed them places in prestigious schools. Cho's defenders, however, claimed there was no wrongdoing in the process.

Cho said he is "especially sorry to the youth who were hurt" and also expressed gratitude to supporters of the reform drive, saying he "was able to hold on thanks to their will and hearts."

President Moon also acknowledged the social rift and apologized for "having caused a lot of conflict." He urged the people "to bring their hearts together" for social integration and economic growth.

Park Geun-hye Confidante: I Purchased German Hotel with Samsung Funds

Corruption is Everywhere - Certainly in South Korea

UPI -- A confidante of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye said she used money from conglomerate Samsung to purchase a hotel in Germany -- but denied receiving bribes to buy a horse for her equestrian daughter.

Choi Soon-sil, who used her friendship with Park to solicit donations and funding for her two foundations, said Wednesday during her 15th hearing of the appeals trial of Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong money from Samsung was used to purchase a hotel near Frankfurt.

Samsung donated the money to Choi around 2015, which the conglomerate sent to fund the activities of KOA Sports, one of Choi's entities, South Korean television network JTBC reported.

Asia Business reported Choi said Samsung did not know she had used the money to buy real estate in Germany.

Samsung was not consulted, and Choi testified that the company was not informed because "there was no opportunity to meet with Samsung, and the hotel was on the market at a low price."

"I felt I had to purchase quickly," Choi said, adding the real estate acquisition was not for her personal enrichment, but rather for athletes' use.

Choi allegedly oversaw the training of South Korean equestrians in Germany, and wanted to use the hotel as a dormitory, according to her testimony.

Funds that were reportedly sent to Choi for building the equestrian team were sent from Samsung.

According to local press, a fund transfer of about $2 million to Choi from Samsung may have been used exclusively for Chung Yoo Ra, Choi's daughter.

That story has gained traction because Choi never assembled an equestrian team as she had planned, Asia Business reported.

Choi also said she used a mobile phone under a borrowed name to communicate with Park during her presidency.

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong reportedly gave a total of $40 million in "donations" to Choi's foundations, according to The Korea Herald.

17 Year Old Persecuted Christian Girl Murdered

Nurta is my Hero of the Year for 2010
In fact, She's my Hero of the Decade

Nurta Mohamed Farah, the 17 year old who converted to Christianity in Somalia and was persecuted by her own parents, has been shot and killed.

After finding out that she had converted to Christianity, her parents beat her, drugged her, tied her to a tree during the day and locked her in a small dark room by night. And they thought she was crazy....

There was no news about her for six months in spite of my complaining to CompassDirect, but finally this month, December 2010, we found out that she had escaped from her parents and ran to an aunt in another territory of Somalia. It wasn't far enough. Two men showed up one night and shot her in the stomach and the head, killing her.

Most believe it was an 'honour killing.' That's how messed up these Muslem fanatics are, that they would think that killing their own daughter would somehow restore honour to their family.

That Nurta suffered so horribly and ultimately was martyred, is a testimony to how powerful a real conversion to Christ is. All the disciples except John were martyred and many are still being martyred today. Christ is real and worth dying for.
