Syrian migrant who had ‘receding hairline’ and ‘grey hair’ wins case after judge quashes council decision that he was ‘clearly an adult’ – and rules he was 16

A migrant from Syria who has a ‘receding hairline’ and ‘grey hair’ has won an age case after an immigration judge ruled he was 16.

Authorities in Britain said the Syrian was ‘clearly an adult’ when he arrived on a small boat last year because of his ‘mature’ physical features, a tribunal heard.

The migrant – who claimed he was 16 – had ‘hairy, muscular arms’, ‘crow’s feet lines’ on his eyes, and ‘wrinkles’ on his forehead.

He is a smoker and has ‘stubble’, a ‘deep voice’, a ‘visible Adam’s apple’, and age assessors said he had a ‘receding hairline with grey hair all over his head’.

Derby City Council, which carried out the age assessment after his arrival, rejected his claims and said he was ‘significantly over 18 years of age’.

Senior immigration workers judged him to be aged between 24-26.

An immigration officer said the Syrian, who was given anonymity and was referred to as SMF, used his ‘slim’ body stature ‘to present himself as a child’.

But the Applicant took the case to an appeal in the Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber and has now won his case.

An immigration judge ruled that he was 16 at the time of his arrival in 2024 and is 17 now….

It would be interesting to know the name of the judge.

"Incomprehensible," prosecutor says about

teacher's stabbing at primary school musical

“What type of family member would go to a primary school’s end-of-year musical with a knife? Many children saw their teacher lying on the floor, fighting for his life,” the public prosecutor said in the court of Rotterdam on Friday. He called the stabbing of the primary school teacher at the event “serious and incomprehensible.”

A parent stabbed the 53-year-old teacher during the children’s event at the cultural center on Haven in Alblasserdam on July 16th. The teacher was trying to break up an argument between three men when one of them stabbed him. According to the prosecutor, it was “a long-standing conflict between two families.”

Suspect Mohammed U. (45) from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht has been in custody for over three months on suspicion of two counts of attempted manslaughter. U. was sitting in the auditorium that evening towards the end of recess when two men entered and punched him, the prosecutor said. “He jumped up and chased after them. “ During the confrontation between U. and one of the men, the teacher stepped in. U. allegedly turned around and stabbed the teacher.

The victim was badly hurt. He still has physical complaints, but has since mainly struggled with mental health issues. “He needs time to recover before he can teach again, which is what he loves to do,” a spokesperson from Names de Familie said on the teacher’s behalf.

U. did not attend this first preliminary hearing in the case against him. He is still undergoing a psychological evaluation and will be questioned again by the police.

According to his lawyer, U. was not the one who brought the knife to the children’s event. “My client is not the one who sought the confrontation,” the lawyer stressed, blaming the other two suspects - a man from Alblasserdam and his brother from Drieborg in Groningen. They were released from custody on July 21, but are still suspects.

The man from Alblasserdam was also injured in the incident and had to undergo hospital treatment. U.’s lawyer suggested that he likely took the knife to the school musical. “The attending physician found a knife on him. He can also be seen in footage with something resembling a knife in his hands. The brothers retrieved the knife at the hospital,” U.’s lawyer said. “The man accompanied the police to the location where he said he discarded the knife. The police found the sheath there, but not the knife.”

The case will continue in January with another preliminary hearing.

Man stabbed car passenger in neck and stomach before hiding in takeaway toilet

A car passenger was stabbed in the neck and stomach before the aggressor ran from the scene and hid in the toilet of a nearby fast-food restaurant. The victim suffered serious injuries and required urgent surgery.

Abdul Ali, 20, was sentenced to 10 years in jail after he was convicted of wounding with intent. At 11.30pm on February 25 Ali was in the front seat of a parked car in Salisbury Road, Cathays, when his victim, 34, got in the back of the car.

Ali, of Salisbury Road, Cardiff, left the car, ran around the back, and opened the driver’s side passenger door. He lunged at his victim and stabbed him in the neck and stomach.

The victim got out of the car and another passenger restrained the 20-year-old. There was then a scuffle between several men and shortly after Ali fled the scene.

He ran into a takeaway restaurant and locked himself inside a toilet where he was subsequently arrested….

In response to the sentencing South Wales Police detective constable Anthony Hurley said: “Tackling knife crime is a priority for us and our partners….

Man dies after three people stabbed in London

Sky News, October 28, 2025:

A man has died after three people were stabbed in London.

Police were called to a stabbing in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, at 5pm on Monday, with London Ambulance Service crews and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance also attending.

A 49-year-old man was treated for stab wounds at the scene but died of his injuries, Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The man’s next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Another man, aged 45, suffered life-changing injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.

A 14-year-old boy was also injured in the stabbing, but police said his injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-changing….

A 22-year-old Afghan national was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder….
