John was probably more intimate with Jesus than any other disciple. He laid his head on Jesus' chest at The Last Supper. He was also the youngest disciple. His Gospel and letters indicate a Jesus Who is very loving and gentle, although clearly the Creator of the Universe.
However, at Patmos, John sees Jesus as he has never seen Him before, and He is terrifying, paralyzingly terrifying. John's writing of Jesus from that moment on took a dramatic turn to emphasize His judgement. We must know Jesus both as the loving forgiver of sins and the Judge before Whom we must one day stand. Do you know Him that way?
