Ukraine's Insane Proxy War > 650,000 fighting-age men have fled Ukraine's draft; Ukraine kills civilians trying to cross into Russia

The authorities in Kiev have struggled to deal with widespread draft evasion throughout the conflict with Russia

At least 650,000 Ukrainian men of fighting age have fled the country since the conflict with Russia escalated in 2022, The Telegraph reported on Thursday. Others are hiding inside Ukraine or bribing officials to avoid being sent to the front, as the military faces its worst manpower crisis yet, the newspaper wrote.

According to the report, draft evasion in Ukraine is “tipping into crisis” amid Russian advances in the Donetsk region. Earlier this week, DeepState, a monitoring group with ties to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, described the situation as “chaotic” with Russian troops “accumulating forces for further advancement.”

Kiev’s general mobilization, which mandates all able-bodied men aged 25 to 60 to serve in the armed forces, has failed to make up for ongoing battlefield losses and has led Ukrainian commanders to voice concerns over persistent manpower shortages.

Desertions are rising sharply, Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod said last week, adding that almost 400,000 Ukrainian servicemen have abandoned their units without authorization, and many – including volunteers – have no plans to return due to abysmal treatment from superiors.

Ukraine is “visibly losing the war,” The Telegraph wrote, citing military analyst Konrad Muzyka, who pointed to infantry shortages and the declining effectiveness of its drone operations.

Many Ukrainians are avoiding conscription out of fear, the newspaper added. As troop numbers dwindle, even support personnel such as mechanics and radar operators are being reassigned to infantry roles, according to one draft evader in hiding, who said every new recruit is sent directly to the front line.

Widespread videos on social media show Ukrainian draft officers employing forceful and sometimes violent tactics – chasing men, dragging them into unmarked vans, and assaulting both those targeted and nearby civilians. This has led to growing public outrage over what is now widely known as “busification.”

In response, many potential recruits have attempted to escape the country by crossing treacherous terrain or rivers, often with fatal consequences. Ukrainian border guards have intercepted thousands of such attempts and, in some cases, have used firearms against fleeing individuals.

Ukraine kills civilians trying to cross into Russia – senior diplomat

The documented murders are part of Kiev’s wider push to wipe out the population in the border Donetsk region, Rodion Miroshnik has said
Ukraine kills civilians trying to cross into Russia – senior diplomat

Ukrainian troops have over the course of the conflict killed hundreds of civilians attempting to cross the frontline into Russia, senior diplomat Rodion Miroshnik told the news agency TASS on Friday.

Miroshnik, who serves as the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large for the Kiev regime’s war crimes, said the cases had been documented through testimony and video evidence.

“There are hundreds of cases. There are instances where people were shot while trying to cross the [front] line, bombarded with drones, attacked,” the diplomat said.

Miroshnik went on to claim that Kiev’s forces deliberately murder civilians in the new Russian region of Donetsk.

“There were cases where Ukrainian forces went through the basements of houses and threw grenades at people ‘as a preventive measure,’ he said. Such tactics, seen in the towns of Avdeevka, Selidovo, and Dzerzhinsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) left areas “completely cleared” of civilians, he added. The same happened in Chasov Yar, a key Ukrainian stronghold liberated by Russian forces two weeks ago.

According to the diplomat, evidence suggests that Kiev’s forces kill those whom Ukraine no longer sees as its own citizens, but rather as “separatists” waiting to be liberated by Russia.

In June, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Kiev of deliberately exterminating civilians in Donbass, including mass killings of the elderly and drone strikes on residential buildings.

Russia will not overlook any crimes committed against the civilian population in violation of international humanitarian law, Miroshnik stressed.

The diplomat argued that under international conventions Ukraine is obligated to investigate alleged war crimes and hold perpetrators accountable but claimed that Kiev is unlikely to do so and that its Western backers will not apply pressure.

Miroshnik added that Russia will push for the extradition of Ukrainian war criminals, noting that around 108,000 criminal cases have already been opened and roughly 500 individuals have been convicted, including some in absentia.

Colonial Madness > France Admits murders and massacres in Colonial Africa

France admits waging ‘war’ in African state during decolonization – media

Macron has reportedly written to Cameroon’s leader admitting Paris’ role in the killing of pro-independence leaders between 1958 and 1960
France admits waging ‘war’ in African state during decolonization – media

President Emmanuel Macron has acknowledged France’s responsibility for “repressive violence” during and after Cameroon’s independence struggle in an official letter to his Cameroonian counterpart, Paul Biya. The letter stops short of apologizing for atrocities committed by French troops in the Central African country.

The move followed a report released in January by a joint French-Cameroonian commission of historians that examined France’s suppression of independence movements from 1945 to 1971.

Macron, in the letter dated July 30 and made public on Tuesday, said the commission’s report “clearly highlighted that a war had taken place in Cameroon, during which the colonial authorities and the French army carried out multiple forms of repressive violence.”

“[The] war…continued beyond 1960 with France’s support for actions carried out by the independent Cameroonian authorities,” he wrote.

The president also accepted Paris’ responsibility for the deaths of four pro-independence leaders, Isaac Nyobe Pandjock, Ruben Um Nyobe, Paul Momo, and Jeremie Ndelene, killed between 1958 and 1960 in military operations under French command.

“It is up to me today to assume the role and responsibility of France in these events,” he stated.

The African country’s armed struggle for independence erupted in the 1950s, led by the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon, which sought to end French rule and unite territories under British administration. Cameroon had been a German colony until World War I, when it was split between France and Britain, with the French-controlled area gaining independence in 1960 and the southern British Cameroons joining a year later.

In the letter, Macron pledged to open France’s archives, support further historical research, and establish a joint working group to implement the recommendations of the commission, which was launched in 2022 to address historic grievances and promote reconciliation.

In recent years, Paris has sought to confront its colonial-era abuses in Africa amid tense relations with former colonies. Macron has previously recognized France’s role in the 1994 Rwandan genocide and the 1945 massacre of tens of thousands of Algerians in Setif.

This Week's Islamic Massacres > 50 Al-Shabaab killed in Somalia; Over 60 killed in Togo this year; Fulani Herdsmen kill 17 more Christians in Nigeria

Over 50 militants killed in Somali battle

Fighting has erupted in the town of Bariire as part of ongoing operations to retake territory from an Al-Qaeda-linked insurgent group
Over 50 militants killed in Somali battle

The African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) has confirmed that more than 50 Al-Shabaab militants were killed during intense fighting on Friday in the southern Somali town of Bariire.

According to the statement released by AUSSOM on Sunday, the joint operation—conducted in coordination with the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF)—targeted positions held by the al-Qaeda-linked group in Bariire, a strategic agricultural hub located 73 kilometers southwest of the capital, Mogadishu.

AUSSOM rejected recent media claims suggesting that its own forces had suffered heavy casualties during the clash. Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, Special Representative of the African Union Commission Chairperson (SRCC) for Somalia, said that AU and Somali forces “are determined to recapture Bariire town and other territories still under Al-Shabaab control to ensure lasting peace and security for the people of Somalia.”

Al-Qaeda-linked insurgent groups, Al-Shabab in particular, have been carrying out regular attacks in several African states, including those in the Sahel region – Burkina Faso, Mali, and Somalia in East Africa. The group continues to carry out raids, bombings, and targeted assassinations in an effort to destabilize the Somali government and regional security structures.

In July, a military helicopter deployed under the AU mission crashed at Mogadishu’s international airport, killing five personnel.

Previously in the same month, another helicopter, operated by Burundian troops, made an emergency landing in the Middle Shabelle region during an evacuation mission. While Al-Shabaab claimed to have shot down the aircraft, AUSSOM stated that the chopper was forced to land due to a technical malfunction. All crew members survived that incident.

In a separate attack in May, at least 10 people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated explosives outside the Damanyo military base in Mogadishu, targeting a group of teenage recruits waiting to enlist. Al-Shabaab later claimed responsibility for the attack.

Togo: Muslims have murdered at least 54 civilians and eight soldiers in jihad attacks this year

The government forces cannot defeat the jihadis. Who is arming and funding the jihadis?

Togo confirms over 60 killed in Al Qaeda-linked attacks

Africa News, July 30, 2025 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

As insecurity spirals in Togo, the country’s foreign minister says a group affiliated with Al Qaeda has killed at least 54 civilians and 8 soldiers so far this year.

The comments to news agency, Reuters, was a rare official acknowledgement of the death toll in attacks.

Robert Dussey said there have been 15 incidents in northern Togo, which borders on Burkina Faso, perpetrated by the insurgent group Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin.

Togo has seen a rise in jihadist activity in recent years, as groups linked to Islamic State and Al Qaeda spread from the West African Sahel region….

Nigeria: Muslims murder seventeen Christians in jihad raid on village in Plateau state

The overall objective is to drive the Christians out entirely, or at very least reduce them to a tiny, subjugated minority, and to impose Islamic rule over the whole country. And to do the same thing in neighboring states.

Fulani Herdsmen Kill 17 Christians in Plateau State, Nigeria

Morning Star News, August 5, 2025:

ABUJA, Nigeria (Christian Daily International–Morning Star News)Fulani herdsmen on Monday morning (Aug. 4) killed a Christian woman in a village in Plateau state, Nigeria, the latest of 17 Christians slain in the area since July 15, sources said.

The herdsmen raided Njin village at about 10 a.m., said resident Dorcas Ishaya.

“Fulani herdsmen are at it again,” Ishaya said in a message to Christian Daily International-Morning Star News. “This morning at 10 a.m., Monday, August 4, they attacked Njin village in the Kopmur area of Mushere chiefdom, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state, killing a Christian woman.”

Area resident Ezekiel Tongs added in a message that the assailants robbed and torched properties.

“These herdsmen did not just attack the village but also carted away domestic animals from houses of Christians,” Tongs said. “Many houses have been burned down, and many Christians displaced.”

Nigerian troops were reportedly dispatched to the area.

Ishaya also said that two Christians were shot and killed in an ambush in the Bokkos area on July 15, “and their bodies burnt to ashes.”

A community leader from the area, Yohana Margif, said on Friday (Aug.1) that armed Fulani herdsmen have driven Christians from nine villages that they are now occupying….

Numbering in the millions across Nigeria and the Sahel, predominantly Muslim Fulani comprise hundreds of clans of many different lineages who do not hold extremist views, but some Fulani do adhere to radical Islamist ideology, the United Kingdom’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom or Belief (APPG) noted in a 2020 report.

“They adopt a comparable strategy to Boko Haram and ISWAP and demonstrate a clear intent to target Christians and potent symbols of Christian identity,” the APPG report states.

Christian leaders in Nigeria have said they believe herdsmen attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt are inspired by their desire to forcefully take over Christians’ lands and impose Islam as desertification has made it difficult for them to sustain their herds….
