This is not something new. Open-minded people have been aware of Hamas's efforts to prevent aid trucks from delivering supplies to Gazans for more than a year. The Mainstream media, however, places the blame completely on Israel. MSM is hopelessly antisemitic.
COGAT: Hamas Fires on UN Vehicles to Sabotage Distribution of Aid
As the last two years of war have shown, Hamas has no interest in allowing a free and equitable distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza. It was willing to allow aid to be brought in by UN agencies, much of which Hamas then stole both in order to distribute it to its combatants and their extended families, and to take another portion in order to then sell it, at exorbitant prices, to the very Gazans who were supposed to receive that aid for free. The IDF stopped this from happening, and instead created the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to distribute aid that would be guarded both by soldiers and by security guards under contract, and since May, the GHF has managed to successfully distribute over 170 million meals.
Hamas, however, is still trying in every way it can to sabotage the distribution of aid by parties it can’t control. It has even fired on Gazans waiting in line for food distributed by the GHF. The Israeli body known as COGAT — Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories — now accuses Hamas of firing on UN vehicles that were trying to help open a new route for trucks carrying aid for GNF from Kerem Shalom to the humanitarian area carved out by the IDF in southern Gaza.
Here is the COGAT statement:
Hamas fired at UN teams and prevented the opening of a new humanitarian route in the southern Gaza Strip. During UN work to open a new route for the movement of trucks from Kerem Shalom to the humanitarian area in the southern Gaza Strip, armed Hamas terrorists threatened and deliberately fired at a UN team operating at the site and forced them out of the work area. The terrorists took over UN vehicles and used them to place a sand barrier on the route in order to prevent future movement of aid trucks into the humanitarian area. The new route, which is part of the humanitarian component of Operation Gideon’s Chariots II, was scheduled to be opened in the coming days to increase the number of aid trucks reaching the humanitarian area, including food, medical equipment, tents, and shelter supplies, in line with the population moving south from Gaza City for their protection. Hamas is deliberately trying to thwart the adaptation of humanitarian infrastructure in southern Gaza Strip, while directly harming the efforts of international aid organizations and their staff, in order to create a crisis that will exert international pressure on Israel to stop the operation in Gaza City. Despite Hamas’s desperate attempts, the IDF, through COGAT, will continue to work in cooperation with international agencies to provide humanitarian aid to the population moving south for their protection.
The UN vehicles show signs — bullet holes — of the attack, that the Israelis photographed before the vehicles were then taken away by Hamas. And the IDF also photographed the sandbags that Hamas placed along the new route from Kerem Shalom to the humanitarian area that the aid trucks were planning to use. There could be no more convincing proof of Hamas’ determination to prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid by the GHF. Hamas cares nothing for the people of Gaza, and is perfectly happy to deprive them of humanitarian aid, as long as Israel gets the blame. The GHF will keep on delivering as much aid as it can, and Hamas will do whatever it can to throw a spanner in the works, trying to keep to a minimum the humanitarian aid brought in to Gaza by the Israel-backed GHF.
Why, one wonders, have the international media refused to carry the story of Hamas’ attempt to stop or minimize the humanitarian aid going to Gaza, have failed to explain how and why so much of that aid was stolen by Hamas, and of how Israel, through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, is doing its level best to keep that humanitarian aid flowing in ever-increasing amounts?
