European Politics > UK still decolonizing as it hands over island archipelago to Mauritius; EU sues Orban for resisting EU's self-destructive policies

U.S. praises U.K. deal to cede archipelago to Mauritius,

retain control of military base

Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The United Kingdom says it has reached a "historic" deal to cede the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean to the Republic of Mauritius, thus surrendering the final colony of Britain's once-sprawling African empire.

In a joint statement issued Thursday by the British and Mauritian governments, the two sides said sovereignty over the Chagos island chain will be transferred to Mauritius, including its largest island, Diego Garcia, which has been home to a highly strategic joint U.S.-British naval base since the 1960s.

Under the agreement, the United States and the U.K. will retain the rights to the base under a 99-year lease, while the thousands of native Chagossians who were controversially removed during its construction and subsequently prevented from returning will remain barred from resettling on Diego Garcia due to security concerns.

However, the remainder of the archipelago's 57 islands comprising what had been known as the British Indian Ocean Territory will be thrown open for settlement under the new jurisdiction of Mauritius. None of those islands are currently inhabited.

The deal marks a turning point in decades of legal disputes over the fate of the displaced Chagossians, whose removal from their homes was condemned by Human Rights Watch last year as a crime against humanity and an example of "appalling colonialism."

Beginning in 1998, the islanders pursued a series of lawsuits against the British government, seeking additional monetary compensation and the right to return to the territory. In 2019 the U.N. General Assembly demanded in a non-binding resolution that the British government end its "colonial administration" of the Chagos Archipelago and that they be returned to Mauritius.

The U.K., under the Conservative Party government of former Prime Minister Boris Johnsonlaunched multiple rounds of negotiations in 2022 in the face of growing international pressure to surrender its final African colony.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said Thursday the agreement succeeds in securing the country's vital national interests.

"This government inherited a situation where the long-term, secure operation of the Diego Garcia military base was under threat, with contested sovereignty and ongoing legal challenges," he said.

"Today's agreement secures this vital military base for the future. It will strengthen our role in safeguarding global security, shut down any possibility of the Indian Ocean being used as a dangerous illegal migration route to the U.K., as well as guaranteeing our long-term relationship with Mauritius, a close Commonwealth partner," he added.

U.S. President Joe Biden similarly praised the deal, calling it "a clear demonstration that through diplomacy and partnership, countries can overcome long-standing historical challenges to reach peaceful and mutually beneficial outcomes.

"This agreement affirms Mauritian sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago, while granting the United Kingdom the authority to exercise the sovereign rights of Mauritius with respect to Diego Garcia," he said.

The heavy handedness of the EU is liable to trigger its collapse

EU sues Hungary for criminalising groups

that receive foreign funding, including NGOs

The European Commission said on Thursday it was suing Hungary over a law that imposes jail terms for groups that accept foreign funds for political causes, which rights groups say is aimed at silencing critics of the government by targeting civil society organisations, media outlets and journalists.

The EU said Thursday it was referring Hungary to the European Court of Justice over laws passed by Budapest to curb foreign influence in the country, which critics say aim to silence government opponents.

The European Commission said the legislation passed last year by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's nationalist government violated fundamental rights and other regulations.

"The European Commission decided to refer Hungary to the Court of Justice because it considers its national law on the 'Defence of Sovereignty' to be in breach of EU law," the EU's top executive body said.

Hungary's laws criminalise foreign funding of election campaigns and establish a new Sovereignty Protection Office that has broad investigative powers.

The commission said the wide discretion granted to the new office disproportionately affected civil society organisations, media outlets and journalists.

The court referral comes after the commission twice wrote to Budapest, first to air its concerns and then to ask for them to be addressed – but was rebuffed.

The court can order a country to comply with EU laws and impose penalties.

The move is likely to further raise tensions between the European Union and Orban, who is frequently at loggerheads with Brussels.

Budapest regularly claims that the EU and other countries, in particular the United States, back domestic opposition groups with funding to influence voters in Hungary.

And that is exactly what it's about. Orban is resisting the one-world government plans of the EU, US, NATO, WEF and George Soros, and they have to break him, just like they have to eliminate Trump in America. Nationality must be destroyed.

Victor Orban explains his World View most brilliantly

There are three world leaders, or potential world leaders who have impressed me quite astoundingly with their knowledge of geopolitics and their willingness to talk at length without notes about it.

Victor Orban is the latest to join that list. It began with Vladimir Putin, watching him in his annual press briefing. He takes questions from the floor and answers them without notes or hesitation. His knowledge of global affairs is very impressive.

The third person who has joined my list just in the past few months is Robert F Kennedy Jr. His activity on X reveals a stunningly brilliant mind that puts him so far above Biden, Harris, or Trump, that it would be an utter disgrace if he is not elected President in November. Check him out!

Lecture of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the 33rd Bálványos Summer Free University and Student Camp

Good morning Summer Camp and other Guests.

The first piece of good news is that my visit this year was not accompanied by the same kind of brouhaha as last year’s: this year we have not received – I have not received – a diplomatic démarche from Bucharest; what I received was an invitation to a meeting with the Prime Minister, which took place yesterday. Last year, when I had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister of Romania, I said after the meeting that it was “the beginning of a beautiful friendship”; at the end of the meeting this year, I was able to say “We’re making progress”. If we look at the figures, we are setting new records in economic and trade relations between our two countries. Romania is now Hungary’s third most important economic partner. We also discussed with the Prime Minister a high-speed train – a “TGV” – linking Budapest to Bucharest, as well as Romania’s membership of Schengen. I have undertaken to put this issue on the agenda for the October Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting – and, if necessary, for the December Council meeting – and to take it forward if possible.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have not received a démarche from Bucharest, but – to prevent us getting bored – we have received one from Brussels: they have condemned the Hungarian peace mission efforts. I have tried – without success – to explain that there is such a thing as Christian duty. This means that if you see something bad in the world – especially something very bad – and you receive some instrument for its correction, then it is a Christian duty to take action, without undue contemplation or reflection. The Hungarian peace mission is about this duty. I would like to remind all of us that the EU has a founding treaty, which contains these exact words: “The Union’s aim is peace”. Brussels is also offended at our describing what they are doing as a pro-war policy. They say that they are supporting the war in the interest of peace. Central Europeans like us are immediately reminded of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who taught that with the advent of communism the state will die, but that the state will die while first constantly strengthening. Brussels is also creating peace by constantly supporting war. Just as we did not understand Lenin’s thesis in our university lectures on the history of the labour movement, I do not understand the Brusseleers in European Council meetings. Perhaps Orwell was right after all when he wrote that in “Newspeak” peace is war and war is peace. Despite all the criticism, let us remind ourselves that since the beginning of our peace mission the US and Russian war ministers have spoken to each other, the Swiss and Russian foreign ministers have held talks, President Zelenskyy has finally called President Trump, and the Ukrainian foreign minister has been to Beijing. So fermentation has begun, and we are slowly but surely moving from a pro-war European policy to a pro-peace policy. This is inevitable, because time is on the side of peace policy. Reality has dawned on the Ukrainians, and now it is up to the Europeans to come to their senses, before it is too late: “Trump ante portas”. If by then Europe does not switch to a policy of peace, then after Trump’s victory it will have to do so while admitting defeat, covered in shame, and admitting sole responsibility for its policy.

But, Ladies and Gentlemen, The subject of today’s presentation is not peace. Please regard what I have said so far as a digression. In fact, for those who are thinking about the future of the world, and of Hungarians within it, there are three big issues on the table today. The first is the war – or more precisely, an unexpected side-effect of the war. This is the fact that the war reveals the reality in which we live. This reality was not visible and could not be described earlier, but it has been illuminated by the blazing light of missiles fired in the war. The second big issue on the table is what will happen after the war. Will a new world come into being, or will the old one continue? And if a new world is coming – and this is our third big issue – how should Hungary prepare for this new world? The fact is that I need to talk about all three, and I need to talk about them here – first of all because these are the big issues that are best discussed in this “free university” format. From another point of view, we need a pan-Hungarian approach, as looking at these issues only from the point of view of a “Little Hungary” would be too constricting; it is therefore justified to talk about these issues in front of Hungarians outside our borders.

Brussels Cries ‘Conspiracy’ Over Hungary’s Ads Showing Smiling Soros Behind EU Immigration Agenda

At least Brussels has the right word even if it is wrongly applied

A new media campaign by the Hungarian government accuses globalist billionaire George Soros and the EU of pushing open-borders policies. Brussels indignantly dismissed the campaign as a conspiracy theory and fake news.

Billboards with the images of Soros and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker tell Hungarians that Brussels officials “are launching experimental immigration projects with African countries; want to introduce mandatory settlement quotas; want to reduce financial assistance for countries opposed to migration,” that last part specifically referring to Hungary.

Further accusations appeared on the government of Hungary’s Facebook page, which says the EU wants to impose settlement quotas, weaken EU members’ border protections and make immigration easier.

The EU Commission rushed to outright dismiss the ad campaign, calling it a conspiracy and “fake news,” without going into detail in addressing Budapest’s concerns.

“It is shocking that such a ludicrous conspiracy theory has reached the mainstream to the extent it has. There is no conspiracy, Hungarians deserve facts, not fiction,” spokesman Margaritis Schinas told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday. The facts, according to Schinas, are that the EU has “zero plans” for humanitarian visas, while member states get to decide on the level of legal migration.

On the other hand, Brussels has repeatedly clashed with Budapest over Hungary’s immigration policy – or rather, its refusal to support the open-borders approach ushered in by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2015. Time and again Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has rejected EU demands to admit migrants, building a fence with Serbia and even EU member Croatia in order to secure his country’s border.

Last week, Orban proposed a program of subsidizing Hungarian birthrates, arguing that “We need Hungarian children” rather than immigrants.

Meanwhile, Soros has openly advocated immigration as the solution to Europe’s dwindling birthrates, and berated Hungary and other “populist” members for endangering the survival of the EU, comparing it to the Soviet Union circa 1991.

Soros immigration advocacy is mostly in favour of Muslims fleeing Muslim countries because most of them are not fit to live in. So, Soros, Merkel, and the EU invite them to Europe which will go a lot farther toward destroying the EU than closing Hungary's borders could ever come close to. Globalization will completely destroy European culture.

With elections for the European Parliament scheduled for May, Orban’s Fidesz party does not hide the desire to have the anti-migration bloc become a majority.

Hungary’s foreign minister has insisted that citizens of the country living elsewhere in the European Union are “not migrants”.

However, government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs denied that the latest campaign is related to the upcoming election, saying it was aimed solely at informing Hungarians.

C'mon Zoltan, everything is about the elections!

Juncker, his vice-president Frans Timmermans, and EU commissioner in charge of Brexit Guy Verhofstadt pointed to the campaign as yet another reason to expel Fidesz from the European People’s Party (EPP) bloc, currently the majority in the supranational body.

“I don't think the conservatives in Hungary represent Christian democratic values in any way,” Juncker said on Tuesday. “There is no overlap at all between Mr. Orban and me ... so I am of the opinion that his place is not in the European People's Party."

Commission president, along with Hungarian-American George Soros, are focus of new anti-Brussels drive.

This is not the first time Orban has accused the Hungarian-born Soros of seeking to undermine Budapest’s policies. One such billboard campaign, in July 2017, was even accused of anti-Semitism. This prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step in, with a statement that criticism of Soros is legitimate and not anti-Semitic.

Last summer, Hungary passed the 'Stop Soros' law, outlawing aid to illegal immigrants and cracking down on pro-immigration NGOs that were by and large funded by the billionaire. As a result of the law, Soros’s Open Society Foundation packed up its operations in Hungary, and the Central European University he funded moved to Austria.

There goes Austria!

‘Christian Democracy’ to Crush Multiculturalism in EU Vote Next Year – Hungary’s Orban

Islamization Backlash - EU

Illiberal “Christian democracy” will replace multiculturalism after the European Parliament vote in 2019, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has predicted, adding that the EU elite have failed the people and should step down.

The European Parliamentary elections in May 2019 will decide the fate of the European “elite” and they’re “visibly nervous” about it, Orban told a crowd of ethnic Hungarians in the Romanian town of Baile Tusnad on Saturday.

It’s time for the current Western leadership of the EU to go, as it has failed to protect the bloc from immigration, he said.

“Their big goal is to transform Europe, to ship it into a post-Christian era and into an era when nations disappear – this process could be undermined in the European elections. And it is our elementary interest to stop this transformation,” the PM said.

The liberal values and multiculturalism promoted by Brussels will crumble in the face of what he called “Christian democracy.”

According to Orban, “Christian democracy is not liberal... It is illiberal, if you like.” This ideology rejects not only immigration and multiculturalism, but Communist values as well, he explained.

Next year’s vote will be “a big moment” that will see Europe “saying goodbye not simply to liberal democracy... but to the 1968 elite,” he said, referring to a wave of liberal protests in Europe and US that paved the way for the decline of conservative ideologies.

"There’s a general shift towards the right in the whole of Europe," the PM told his audience, adding that, in order for a shift to “illiberal democracy” to happen, the European elections must be focused on “one common theme – immigration."

The immigration issue has been the reason for ongoing strife between Orban and the EU, as Budapest leads a group of Eastern European nations resisting Brussel’s push to settle asylum seekers there using a quota system. Hungary famously erected a 110-mile long security fence on its border to prevent refugees from making it into the country at the peak of the European migrant crisis in 2015.

On Friday, the PM again slammed the European Commission, led by Jean Claude-Juncker, over its apparent impotence in solving the migrant issue, comparing it to a helpless frog that’s being cut up in a biology class. “We need a commission, after the European elections, which does not punish those countries that protect their borders like Hungary,” he said.

The Hungarian leader’s campaign against George Soros has also been making headlines; he blamed the US billionaire and open borders advocate of attempting to use immigration to undermine Europe and its Christian values. In June, Hungary passed the so-called ‘Stop Soros’ law, which criminalized assistance to illegal immigrants that had previously been provided by Soros-backed groups.

Despite accusations coming from the West of being authoritarian, his anti-immigrant stance has garnered Orban huge public support in his home country. He won his third term as Prime Minister in April, with his rightist Fidesz party holding a two-thirds majority in the parliament.

Orban Declares End of ‘Liberal Democracy’ in Hungary, Vows to Fight for Christian Values

War on Christianity - Orban Strikes Back

Viktor Orban has declared the end of “liberal democracy” in Hungary, saying it has failed to defend freedoms and Christian culture in wake of the migrant crisis. He vowed to build a “Christian democracy” defying EU dictates.

In a Thursday address given after Hungary’s new parliament handed him his third straight term, the Prime Minister said that Hungarians have defied the “old world order” in favor of Christian democracy, allowing Hungary to “survive and grow” as a nation.

“The era of liberal democracy has come to an end. It is unsuitable to protect human dignity, inadmissible to give freedom, cannot guarantee physical security, and can no longer maintain Christian culture,” Orban said.

Hungary has built a “twenty-first century Christian democracy that guarantees human dignity, freedom and security” as well as “protects the traditional family model,” the PM said. He added: “We are Christian Democrats and we want Christian Democracy.”

Orban said he would not acquiesce to EU-imposed migrant quotas, warning that mass migration “can lead to the deaths of nations” as he vowed to defend the interests of the Hungarian people and safeguard Christian values.

“Today, thousands of paid activists, bureaucrats and politicians are working in Brussels to classify migration as a fundamental human right. That is why they want to take away the right to decide who we accept and who not,” Orban said.

He urged the European Union to “return to the grounds of reality,” saying that the EU should abandon the “delusional nightmares” of a United States of Europe and instead be “an alliance of free nations.”

“My government will be the government of free Hungarians and sovereign Hungarians,” Orban said.

Orban’s policy has apparently struck a chord with Hungarians, who voted him in for a third consecutive term, with his Fidesz party winning two-thirds of the parliament seats in the April 8 elections. He has also gained a sizeable city-dwelling opposition calling for“regime change” and a lifetime nemesis in the form of Hungarian-born media tycoon George Soros, whose NGO is now reportedly moving out of Budapest due to “political hostility.”  For his part, Orban has launched a crusade against Soros-controlled organizations, saying “no matter how many times George Soros goes to Brussels, no matter how many times the issue of illegal immigration is placed on the agenda, and no matter how many allies George Soros has in Brussels, we will not back down.”

The EU has repeatedly threatened the Eurosceptic PM with sanctions over alleged violations of rights, freedoms and “EU values” in general, but it has not resulted in any action against Budapest so far.

Orban, who has been branded a “dictator” and a “nationalist” by his EU critics, is not, however, the only European official turning to Christianity in the wake of the refugee and migrant crisis. Germany’s Bavaria, controlled by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s key allies Christian Social Union (CSU), has recently ordered Christian crosses to be placed in government buildings to reflect its “cultural identity and Christian-Western influence.” While Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder said that such objects should not be seen as “the sign of a religion,” he has been previously quoted as saying that “crucifixes belong in classrooms, headscarves don’t.”

Liberal people might have difficulty with that last statement. If they understand it at all at some level, they certainly wouldn't agree with it. But all children should come to the knowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He suffered horribly and died for our sins. Their Eternal destiny depends on it.

The scarf makes a statement! It says, I am part of a religion that has no use for Jesus Christ even though the Quran tells us of His virgin birth, His many miracles, and that He will be on the Judgement seat on that great and terrible day.

The Left Fights Back Against Right-Wing Win in Hungary

Thousands in Hungary demand 'new and fair elections'
after anti-migrant PM's win

Opposition supporters upset Viktor Orban won large majority
with around 50% of vote

Tens of thousands of anti-government protesters marched Saturday in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, demanding a new election and a new national electoral system in the biggest opposition rally in years.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban was re-elected for a fourth term last week. His right-wing populist Fidesz party won a supermajority in the national assembly, with preliminary results showing that Fidesz and tiny ally the Christian Democratic party won 134 seats in the 199-seat legislature.

Opposition supporters are upset that Hungary's electoral rules have given Orban's party such a large majority in Parliament when it only won around 50 per cent of the vote.

While the left-wing opposition parties won 12 of 18 seats at stake in Budapest districts, Fidesz won 85 of 88 seats outside the capital. The other 93 seats were allocated based on votes for party lists.

Protesters marched from the Opera to Parliament, shouting "New elections!" "We are the majority!" "Vik-tator!" and "Filthy Fidesz!"

The size of the crowd, overflowing from the city's Kossuth Square outside the striking neo-Gothic Parliament, rivalled the pro-government "Peace March" held on March 15. Organizers said another anti-government protest would be held next weekend.

"We want new and fair elections," opposition activist Gergely Gulyas told the huge crowd. "This is the responsibility of the government and we're going to remind them of this, peacefully and massively."

Orban, whose campaign focused on the demonization of migrants, has promised "significant changes" in his next government, which could push for a constitutional amendment against migration.

A fragmented opposition, a complex electoral system that disproportionately favours the biggest party and Orban's decision to greatly facilitate citizenship for Hungarians living in neighbouring countries like Romania and Serbia all contributed to his large win on April 8.

'We're not scared'

Over 96 per cent of voters in those bordering countries — including areas that Hungary lost after the First World War — backed Orban's Fidesz party.

"When I asked my grandparents why they allowed [communist dictator] Matyas Rakosi to stay in power for so long, they answered that they were scared," writer and journalist Gergely Homonnay, one of the rally's organizers, told protesters. "Well, I'm not scared. We're not scared."

You should be scared. Not scared of Orban, but scared of the consequences of a left-wing government in Budapest. Allowing Muslims to come 'en masse' into the country would be cultural suicide and would ensure your grand-children will be wearing hijabs in their life-time.

Homonnay said protesters had three requests: Changing the electoral system "which forever cements Fidesz in power;" ousting Chief Prosecutor Peter Polt, an Orban ally, because "as long as he is in office not a single corruption case will be investigated;" and getting Fidesz out of state media, which has become an unabashed promoter of government propaganda in recent years.

Orban claims that opposition parties want to turn Hungary into an "immigrant nation" with the help of the European Union, the United Nations and Hungarian-American billionaire and philanthropist George Soros. Opposition members deny the claim.

And yet, I would bet my shirt that Soros' NGOs in Hungary helped organize this rally. Nevertheless, Orban does need to clean up his party. Corruption voids any moral imperative to rule.

At the end of the rally Saturday, participants sang Hungary's national anthem, as well as the EU anthem, which is based on Ludwig van Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."

Europe’s ‘Last Hope’ in Face of Mass Migration is Christianity – Hungarian PM

EU politicians endanger Europe by advocating migration, with Christianity being the only means of preventing a Muslim majority on the continent, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.

“Our worst nightmares can come true,” Orban warned, referring to the influx of migrants from north Africa and the Middle East since 2015. “The West falls as it fails to see Europe being overrun.”

Orban told a huge crowd of supporters of his right-wing Fidesz party, who gathered in front of the Royal Castle in Budapest on Sunday, “Christianity is Europe’s last hope. Absurd as it may sound, the danger we face comes from the West, from politicians in Brussels, Berlin and Paris,” who advocate migration and “opened the way to the decline of Christian culture and the advance of Islam,” the PM added.

“The rate of migrants will grow at an accelerating pace in countries to the west of us… For example, the rate of native Germans has decreased in larger German cities. Migrants choose big cities to occupy first: In Bavaria, for instance, they spend more money on migration and integration (of migrants) than on the economy, environment and health combined,” he said.

The EU will find itself under “hideous pressure” if migrants from Muslim countries in Africa aren’t prevented from coming to the continent, Orban said. “If things don't change, there will be a Muslim majority in Europe,” he added.

The rally was dedicated to the launch of the ruling party’s campaign for the April 8 election, in which Fidesz are seen as strong favorites for a third consecutive landslide win. Orban’s popularity in Hungary is boosted by economic success and his firm anti-migrant stance. The country refused to accept refugees in accordance with EU quotas, going as far as building a double razor wire fence on its border to prevent illegal crossings, and was sued by the bloc.

Western European nations want Budapest to implement the same “policies that made them migrant-countries… They want us to accept migrants and have a mixed population,” the PM told the crowd and promised to “fight” the EU on the issue.

He said that Budapest will employ “ever-stronger legal tools” in the battle, recalling the so-called ‘Stop Soros Act,’ which is aimed at curbing migration and giving the state more control over foreign-funded NGOs that assist refugees.

Hungarian-born US philanthropist and multiculturalism advocate George Soros and Orban have been at odds for years. The PM has accused Soros of working to undermine European values, demographics and identity by flooding the continent with millions of Muslim asylum seekers. He also said that the American financier plans to interfere in April’s Hungarian election by spreading propaganda via his network of NGOs.

“Soros has antagonized not only us but also England, President Trump and Israel too… everywhere he wants to get migration accepted. It won’t work. We are not alone and we will fight together... and we will succeed,” Orban said.

The PM praised Hungary’s Visegrad Group partners — the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia — for sharing the anti-migrant stance, adding that “Croatia has come around, Austria has turned in a patriotic direction, and in Bavaria the CSU (Christian Social Union) has created a resistance… we don’t think the fight is hopeless — on the contrary, we are winning,” Orban said.

Soros Waging ‘Frontal Assault’ on Hungary – Ruling Party Deputy Chairman

Hungary is facing a frontal assault from US financier George Soros, the vice-chairman of the ruling Fidesz party has said, after the billionaire released a statement accusing the Hungarian government of “lying” about his agenda.

Fidesz vice-chairman Gergely Gulyas pushed back against Soros’ claims that his government was spreading disinformation, and denied that it was stoking anti-Muslim sentiments and embracing anti-Semitic stereotypes. Instead, Gulyas accused Soros of attacking his country through his NGOs and EU bureaucrats, and using them to push a pro-migrant agenda.

“What Soros writes about immigration, in general, is a pro-immigration stance that is open about its disdain for the nation state,” Reuters quoted Gulyas as telling news conference on Monday. “Decisions made in Brussels echo that in the field of immigration policy.”

“Days before a recent immigration decision in the European Parliament, Soros was meeting with the rapporteur on the subject as well as five different EU commissioners. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but this holds some clues.”

On Monday, George Soros released a statement in response to seven allegations the Hungarian government made against him in their National Consultation survey on the “Soros plan.” The statement attempted to offer a rebuttal to those claims, for example that Soros wants to resettle 1 million refugees throughout Europe each year. The statement countered that in 2016, Soros acknowledged that circumstances had changed and that instead, the EU should make a “commitment to admit even a mere 300,000 refugees annually.”

The statement also dismissed claims that Soros wants to undermine European culture, launch attacks on countries which oppose immigration and called for migrants to receive reduced sentences for their crimes, as lies.

The conservative Hungarian government, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, has made no secret of its disdain for George Soros and his political activities, accusing him of undermining European borders and values by helping facilitate the flow of refugees and asylum seekers from the Middle East and Africa. In May, Soros accused Hungary of being a “mafia state,” words that Orban considered a “declaration of war.”

Is George Soros Pulling the Strings of European Parliament?

Soros and his ‘226 EU friends’ thrust into spotlight by Farage
– so who are they?

Picking up the anti-Soros torch from Hungarian leader Viktor Orban, UK politician Nigel Farage is seeking to investigate fellow EU MEPs who support the controversial vision of the wealthy financier. But are Orban and Farage’s fears valid?

UK politician Nigel Farage, the prominent face of Brexit, is now concerned about Europe’s destiny. Addressing the EU Parliament this week, Farage provided some thoughtful ideas as to the source of the claims that Russia had somehow manipulated the Brexit vote, as well as the Trump election.

“Just last week, the electoral commission, in the UK, launched an investigation to find out whether the ‘Leave’ campaign took offshore money or Russian money,” Farage said.

"This came about as a result of questions asked in the House of Commons by one Ben Bradshaw, somebody linked to an organization called Open Society.”

But Farage, who seems to take great delight in agitating his fellow MPs, was just warming up. He went on to provide yet another example of an EU parliamentarian working on behalf of George Soros, this time against Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, who has accused the financier of seeking to create “a Europe of mixed population.”

“We even had last week Mr. [Guy] Verhofstadt lobbying on behalf of Mr. Soros at the Conference of Presidents in a battle that is going on with Viktor Orban, the prime minister of Hungary,” Farage said, pointing directly at Verhofstadt as he spoke.

“I wonder,” Farage continued, “when we are talking about ‘political collusion,’ I wonder if we are looking in the wrong place.”

Farage described Soros’s influence in Strasbourg and Brussels as “truly extraordinary.” And that influence looks set to increase dramatically now that Soros has donated the bulk of his wealth - $18 billion - into his Open Society pet project, which campaigns for open borders and supranational structures such as the European Union.

$18 bn can buy a whole lot of MEPs.

Farage concluded his short, fiery monologue with a weighty statement: “I fear we could be looking at the biggest level of international, political collusion in history.”

On the surface, there seems to be some legitimacy to Farage’s claim. According to public sources, Open Society European Policy Institute (OSEPI), the EU policy arm of Open Society Foundations, met with members of the European Commission on 44 separate occasions in 2016. And now that the organization has just been energized with $18 billion, it would seem apparent that that influence is set to increase.

Moreover, the Soros organizations published a pamphlet providing details on a list of 226 reliable “friends” who serve in the European Parliament. Farage said he would call on the parliament to set up a special committee to investigate the issue.

Who are Soros’ 226 EU ‘friends’?

In a 177-page pamphlet published by Open Society, entitled “Reliable Allies in the European Parliament (2014-2019),” 226 EU MEPs are listed and labeled according to their political orientation and views.

According to the pamphlet, “The presence of an MEP in this mapping indicates that they are likely to support Open Society’s work. Considering there are 751 members of the European Parliament, “reliable allies” of George Soros hold at least one-third of seats."

So what sort of qualifications does an MEP need to be included among Open Society’s “reliable allies?” A quick preview of the candidate’s description field provides some good indication as to what Soros expects from his allies, including a political philosophy that includes support of the LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or intersex) movement, open borders and an anti-Russia stance.

Among the 226 chosen, there is one Yana Toom, an MEP from Estonia, who comes in for a bit of criticism despite her inclusion. “Refused supporting the European Parliament’s first resolution on the Ukraine-Russia conflict in July 2014, and may be pro-Russia to an unknown extent (and, in that case, not necessarily an Open Society).”

For anyone who questions whether Open Society works directly against Russian interests, that single line should dispel all doubts. Moreover, it provides some background as to why Russia in 2015 banned Open Society from operating on its territory due to the threat it posed to the country’s “constitutional order.”

Another MEP on the list, Monica Macovei of Romania, serves as something like the golden mean for star-studded Soros status.

“Resolutely progressive; unquestionable ally of Open Society values; does not hesitate to go against her group’s instructions; however, can sometimes be described as a loose cannon with her own, uncompromising set of priorities.”

When reading such an assessment, one might get the mistaken impression that the European Parliament is designed to serve the will of George Soros and his highly controversial agenda, as opposed to the will of the European peoples.

What does Soros want?

To say that George Soros, who was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, has an influence on the global scene, would be the understatement of the century. His excessive wealth allows him to finance a veritable army of organizations, many serving at cross purposes.

Indeed, Soros, 87, has been connected to movements and civil disturbances as diverse as distanced as Black Lives Matter movement in the US, to the Maidan uprising in Ukraine.

And nowhere has Soros’s influence been more felt than in the ongoing European debate over migrants.

It looks like the European refugee crisis, which has been blamed on the Syrian civil war, would not occur in its current intensity without the direct assistance of the Open Society Foundation.

Thanks to the advocacy work of the Migration Policy Institute and the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), both Soros-sponsored organizations, the mass resettlement of Muslims from the Middle East and North Africa into Europe became the norm.

In fact, it appeared that the so-called “Merkel Plan” – the deal struck by the EU and Turkey – was the brainchild of the European Stability Initiative, “in addition to the largesse of George Soros’ foundations,” F. William Engdahl wrote in the Near Eastern Outlook.

Considering that the massive influx of Muslim migrants threatens to change the face of “Christian Europe” forever, and without any vote on the matter by the people of Europe, perhaps it is time to see exactly what kind of direct influence George Soros and his Open Society Foundation are having on European parliamentarians. After all, these are not the play toys of any one individual, but the representatives of an entire state.
