Vulgar comment by Fox News host starts backlash firestorm

Pastors, pundits torch Fox News host's vulgar attack on Christian journalist: 'Pack of creepy weirdos'

Christian pastors and pundits expressed outrage toward a Fox News host who vulgarly attacked a Christian journalist Tuesday for questioning the morality of homosexual surrogacy.

Daily Wire reporter and commentator Megan Basham drew the ire of Fox News host and former MTV VJ Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, also known simply as Kennedy, when Basham weighed in on a viral New York Post story regarding Fox News contributor and political analyst Guy Benson announcing that he and his husband welcomed a baby girl last week.

"Benson is an incisive pundit. But there is nothing conservative about deliberately creating motherless children," Basham said. "I pray Benson and those like him on the Right would consider what they are telling the world about how unnecessary they believe mothers (or if we're talking about two women, fathers) are to the needs of children."

"Because that is what they’re declaring when they create these children through the surrogacy process. That mothers and fathers serve no specific purpose," Basham added.

Kennedy replied to Basham with an X post that said: "Bless your heart, Megan. While you're at it, go replace the batteries in your vibrator."

Kennedy's post prompted a torrent of backlash from Christians and other conservatives, some of whom suggested the libertarian pundit's remark is symptomatic of an attitude rampant at Fox News that is antithetical to the values of its core audience.

"What a pack of creepy weirdos they have over at Fox News. Who talks like this?" asked Federalist senior editor and Pagan America author John Daniel Davidson. "And who honestly thinks it's normal and healthy for a gay couple to purchase children through surrogacy? Creeps, that's who. Anyone who isn't morally insane knows that surrogacy should be illegal."

Morally insane may be a little over the top; perhaps morally obtuse would be a better fit.

"When people have no intelligent rebuttal, they turn to low-browed gutter language," evangelist Justin Peters replied to Kennedy.

"You're a pervert," replied J. Chase Davis, lead pastor of The Well Church in Boulder, Colorado.

"Batteries do need to be replaced, but they would be the ones in [Kennedy's] 'Don't Be Low Rent Monitor,'" said Douglas Wilson, senior pastor of Christ Church (CREC) in Moscow, Idaho.

Nick Freitas, a Christian who formerly served in the Virginia House of Delegates, replied to Kennedy by noting "the role of unfunny female comic has already been filled by Chelsea Handler," and urged her, "if you're going to insult someone to show everyone how cool you are at least make it clever."

"Not to mention Megan is spot on and gay couples paying women to have their babies is weird. [D]epriving a child of a mother because your sexual preference prevents creating children with your partner is abnormal and damaging to the kid," Freitas added.

Christian cultural commentator Peachy Keenan called Kennedy's retort "gross and twisted."

"Popular Fox News pundit to a conservative Christian woman (who has been undergoing major cancer treatment for several years) because she is not in favor of motherless babies. Lovely," Keenan said.

"Wow. This is what letting being on Fox News go to your head looks like," said Nick Searcy, a conservative Christian actor and director whose documentary was featured by Fox News Digital in 2020.

Conservative Christian attorney Jenna Ellis denounced Kennedy's post as "a disgusting comment that totally misses the point, like most of your vulgar commentary." She also suggested Kennedy was lashing out because she felt personally attacked by Basham.

"Kennedy officiated Guy's homosexual 'wedding' btw — that's why she's defending him, because she's defending herself too. She's all in on the degeneracy. It's her brand," Ellis said.

Auron MacIntyre, a columnist and podcast host with The Blaze, suggested Kennedy's attitude is not isolated to her at the supposedly conservative news network.

"It's really important that you understand how much Fox News hates conservatives. It's a [vile] hive of scum populated by homosexual baby peddlers and shrill spiteful girl bosses," he said.

The debate over Basham's comment came three years to the day that The Blaze and former Fox News host Glenn Beck reported that whistleblowers inside Fox News revealed that Fox Corporation was willing to match individual employee donations of up to $1,000 to far-left charities.

The charities eligible for matching included Planned Parenthood, which profits from abortion; The Trevor Project, which supports castrating minors; the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is facing federal criminal prosecution for alleged fraud; and The Satanic Temple, which has distributed satanic literature to children and filed multiple lawsuits challenging state abortion restrictions on religious grounds.

"Fox pretends to care about Christians, but some of the stuff they push internally suggests otherwise. Glory holes, trans surgeries for kids, and potential donations to Satan are a huge slap in the face to every Christian at the company, and we resent it," one whistleblower said at the time.

Fox News reportedly never responded to The Blaze's requests for comment on their findings, though The Satanic Temple was pulled from the company's charity matching portal days after Beck exposed it.

The Blaze story came a month after Daily Wire host Matt Walsh reported that Fox Corporation was endorsing an organization that offers cross-sex hormones to homeless youth, hosting a Pride-themed ice cream party at the New York headquarters of Fox News and recommending LGBT literature to its employees, including a book featuring a "glory hole."

America - The Surveillance State > Tulsi Gabbard confirms the heavy surveillance she is under

This is a follow up to: America - The Surveillance State >  Tulsi Gabbard under heavy surveillance?

The Biden government weaponized Explosive Detection Canine Teams, Transportation Security Specialists (explosives), TSA Supervisors, and Federal Air Marshalls to punish Gabbard for speaking out about Kamala Harris being a puppet of the Military Industrial Complex and the National Security State. The very next day she was put on the Quiet Skys terrorist watch list. This doesn't happen in democracies.

RETALIATION. A few weeks ago, I had the audacity to tell the truth: that Kamala Harris would essentially be a mouthpiece and puppet of the Military Industrial Complex and National Security State. The next day, July 23, they retaliated. Sadly this is what we can expect from the “Harris” Administration.

American Politics > Democrats Supporting anti-democratic movements in Israel - Sen Tom Cotton

..

This is a must-see video! US Senator Tom Cotton exposes a long-running campaign by the Democratic Party and several Democratic Presidents to undermine Benjamin Netanyahu - Israel's longest-serving Prime Minister.

This is disgraceful interference against one of our best allies, the only democracy in the Middle East, makes one wonder what America does to her enemies?

Democrats should be made to explain why they support Netanyahu's enemies and not Netanyahu. They should be made to return the tax dollars they wasted supporting his enemies and the PLO's Pay-for-Slay program.

US SENATOR EXPOSED DEMOCRATS IN A SPEECH

THAT LEFT CONGRESS IN SHOCK

Tom Cotton is right on when he exposes that US taxpayer money is working to bring down Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu under the guise of support for “democracy in Israel.” Actually, what US taxpayers are funding are demonstrations by misguided Israelis to keep Israel from becoming a true democracy.

The Media is The Message > Journalist Muzzled by Fox News Turns to Project Veritas

..

Fox 26 Houston reporter accuses network of ‘muzzling’ her & others, teases release of recordings from Project Veritas

Ivory Hecker, a reporter with the Houston affiliate of Fox News, fired a surprising broadside at the network, accusing it of suppressing reporting that didn’t fit the desired narrative, and promising to expose it.

During a live report on Monday, Hecker alleged that “Fox Corp. has been muzzling” her and possibly other reporters “to keep certain information from you, the viewers.”

“I am going to be releasing some recordings about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox,” she said, pointing to the controversial conservative outfit Project Veritas. The material is supposed to be published by the outlet on Tuesday.

Project Veritas published the clip, as well as some extra footage, showing one of its journalists, Christian Hartsock, talking to Hecker, at what seems to be the same location she was giving her live report from.

“They sent a reporter out there. They don’t like what that person said. And they turn around and punish the reporter,” she said.

"Does that make any sense? No. But I guess I am supposed to know the narrative and stick with it instead of sticking with the facts."

Project Veritas made its name by secretly recording people in various industries, including the media and Big Tech, and using their words to claim systemic bias against conservative voices in America. Critics accuse it of using sleazy tactics and deceptive editing of its tapes to make their case.

After Hecker made the allegations, the group’s name trended on Twitter, which Project Veritas hailed as yet another success. Its own Twitter account had been suspended in February “for repeated violations of Twitter’s private information policy.”

Just moments ago...

The Daily Beast reported that Hecker had been suspended:

In a phone call recording provided to Project Veritas, Fox 26 assistant news director Lee Meier informed Hecker that she was suspended “effective immediately” and the situation was “pending further review.” Furthermore, Meier asked Hecker “not to come to the station” and that they would remain in touch.

And early this morning...

Newsweek gives us a glimpse of the issue:

In a statement to Newsweek explaining why she made the claims against Fox during Monday's broadcast, Hecker claimed that after she interviewed an unspecified person in August 2020, her relationship with the network took a "dark turn."

"They decided they didn't like what the interview subject had said, and they went on to internally harass and defame me," Hecker said.

"I knew I was not working for a journalistic organization when I was called into an HR meeting in December and was told to keep my support for free speech and opposition to censorship to myself—that those were not matters to be publicly spoken about.

Project Veritas stated that their report will come out this evening.

The Media is the Message - Indian TV Anchor Discusses Air-Strikes Before They Happen; US Faith in News Media Falls Below 50%, as it Should

Indian TV anchor’s texts spark cries for security leak inquiry after he discussed Pakistan airstrikes before they happened

Opposition politicians in India have called for an investigation into a potential national security leak after a TV anchor’s messages showed he had prior knowledge of airstrikes launched against Pakistan in February 2019.

Amid a series of text messages sent from Arnab Goswami, news anchor and editor-in-chief of Republic TV network, to the head of a TV ratings agency, Goswami mentioned that India would launch a “bigger than normal strike” on Pakistan. The messages were sent on February 23, 2019, just three days before India struck military targets in Pakistan, but weren’t made public until earlier this month as part of a separate investigation.

A transcript of the messages was included in a charge-sheet filed by Mumbai police as part of an investigation into allegations of rate fixing by Republic, which the network denies.

“On Pakistan, the government is confident of striking in a way that people will be elated. Exact words used,” Goswami’s message reportedly read.

The anchor has denied having any prior knowledge of the military action, arguing that his message was in reference to the officially stated government position that India would “hit back at Pakistan after the Pulwama attack.”

On February 14, 2019, a Pakistan-based group launched the deadliest single attack against Indian forces in Kashmir since 1989, killing 46 soldiers in a suicide bombing. In response, India launched airstrikes against militants in Pakistani locations, escalating tensions and nearly bringing the two neighboring states to the brink of war.

Addressing the calls for an investigation into a potential government leak, Goswami criticised India’s opposition parties, accusing them of being a “mouthpiece” for Pakistan.

The Indian government has not responded to the demands from the opposition parties, nor to suggestions of impropriety or leaking.

Alongside the internal issues caused by the content of the messages, the issue also risks international outcry. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has suggested the texts show that the strikes were a political act, and not a military move, to help Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi secure re-election.

Americans’ trust in mainstream media has never been lower –
but journalists insist it’s the audience’s fault, not theirs

Fewer than half of Americans trust mainstream media, according to PR firm Edelman’s annual “trust barometer.” But rather than attempt to repair the relationship, media outlets blame their audience’s poor ‘information hygiene.’

Long headed for collapse, Americans’ trust in the media establishment hit an all time low in 2021, falling three points overall to just 46 percent, according to Edelman’s most recent annual survey. The figure marks the first time Americans’ trust of journalism sank below the 50 percent mark.

Americans’ trust in social media also hit rock bottom, clocking in at a miserable 27 percent, according to Edelman’s annual “trust barometer.” Globally, people’s faith in social media wasn’t much better, with just 35 percent of users deeming it a trustworthy source for “general news and information.”

Survey respondents did not hesitate to expound on their dim view of the journalistic profession, either – 56 percent of Americans agreed the media was “purposely trying to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations,” while 58 percent agreed most outlets were “more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than informing the public.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, breaking the numbers up by political party revealed a sharp contrast between Biden and Trump voters, with only 18 percent of the latter crowd deeming the media trustworthy in the wake of November’s presidential election. Even among Democrats, however, only 57 percent deemed the media trustworthy.

Conservatives, including the offspring of former president Donald Trump, took to social media to roll their eyes at what for them was stating the obvious. Most establishment outlets had after all been gushing about President Joe Biden's inauguration in truly outrageous terms, comparing his inaugural speech to that of JFK and waxing poetic about Vice President Kamala Harris' hair.

Others brought up dubious connections to “independent” media – including Edelman itself – suggesting the trust crisis had less to do with the media losing its touch than it did with Americans becoming more savvy regarding their manipulation.

The only group trusted by a majority of Americans out of Government, Media, NGOs, and Business in 2021 was, ironically, Big Business – even though corporations largely pull the strings of the media, politics, and the other institutions so many Americans seem to agree are not trustworthy.

Axios and other opportunistic journalists reading Edelman’s 2021 report have called for these CEOs to “visibly embrace the news media” in order to burnish the media’s public image.

'Visibly embrace', is that as opposed to 'invisibly embrace'?

“Now it’s time for [CEOs] to use the trust they’ve built up to help rebuild our civic infrastructure,” Axios concluded, specifically referring to outreach to Trump voters, whose trust in CEOs (61 percent) runs 40 points higher than their trust in the media. However, given conservatives’ unabashed loathing for mainstream media, the plan could backfire and drag corporations down a few notches in the MAGA crowd’s estimation.

Even while admitting that media distrust was a global issue rather than “a function of Donald Trump’s war on ‘fake news,’” Axios appeared to blame its audience for their refusal to put their faith in the Fourth Estate, posting a series of links tipping worried journalists off on why their propaganda might be missing the mark. Clutching pearls on topics from the Covid-19 pandemic and “vaccine hesitancy” to the US election scandals, the overarching message was simple – don't confuse your audience with opinions other than the one you want them to have.

However, Americans’ own distrust in the majority of their institutions does not bode well for the US’ “brand,” Edelman’s survey revealed. Other countries have apparently been paying attention, as trust in companies headquartered in the US fell four points to what was reportedly an all-time low of 51 percent.
