Gunmen in the West African country of Niger have killed 13 people in the latest of a string of attacks in the region. The killings took place in the early morning in Magoro, Kumbashi and Bangi, the headquarters of the local Government area.
Gunmen descended on the area on around 150 motorcycles, firing randomly and killing 13, whilst injuring dozens of people. Among the dead were villagers, members of a local vigilante group, and a policeman, whilst two women were reportedly abducted. The motivation of the attackers is yet to be determined but the attack comes as attacks by Al Qaeda affiliate Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) continue across several West African nations, especially Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
JNIM has become one of Africa’s most deadly jihadist groups since being formed in Mali in 2017….
The militants reject the authority of the Sahel governments as they seek to impose a strict interpretation of Islam and Sharia law.
It has been known to impose strict laws in its areas of operation, including ordering men to grow beards, banning music and smoking and preventing women from being alone in public….

Fulanis Kill Five Christians, Kidnap 110 Others in Northwest Nigeria

ABUJA, Nigeria (Christian Daily International–Morning Star News) – Fulani herdsmen on Friday (July 11) killed five Christians and wounded three others in an area of northwest Nigeria’s Kaduna state where at least 110 others have been kidnapped in the past six months, sources said.
In Kajuru County, “Fulani bandits” on Friday attacked an Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Bible study and prayer service in Kampani village, killing Victor Haruna, Dogara Jatau, Luka Yari, Jesse Dalami and Bawu John, said resident Philip Adams.
He identified those wounded as Samuel Aliyu, Philip Dominic and Jacob Hussaini. Residents said the attack at the church site took place at about 3:30 p.m.
“This is the present predicament of most communities within Kajuru and Kachia Local Council Areas in southern part of Kaduna state,” resident Happiness Daniel told Christian Daily International-Morning Star News in a text message. “We constantly live in fear every day. We can’t sleep in our homes and we can’t go to farms.”…

ADF Militants Strike 2 Christian Villages in Eastern Congo
International Christian Concern, July 17, 2025:
7/17/2025 DRC (International Christian Concern) — In the middle of the night on May 17, two predominantly Christian villages in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) were shaken by coordinated attacks that left dozens dead and many more wounded.
I count 11 dead, not dozens, but perhaps there is more to this story.
The attacks, carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), struck the villages of Kekele in the province of Ituri, and Kokola near Beni, North Kivu. The rebels first hit Kekele.
“At least six civilians were killed during an overnight raid by suspected ADF militants,” said Njiamoja Sabiti, a local administrative official. “Four men and two women were among those killed with edged weapons and gunshots.”
Hours later, the ADF fighters stormed Kokola.
“The militants killed seven people and wounded four others,” said Bravo Muhindo, a villager. “They also set fire to four residences during the attack, which created more turmoil and panic in the village.”
The ADF has been responsible for many fatal massacres throughout eastern Congo, brutally slaughtering worshippers, burning churches, and terrorizing believers….
