Niger: Islamic jihadis open fire at baptism ceremony, murder 22 villagers

Imagine the outcry that would ensue, and not just from Muslims by any means, if Christians opened fire at a mosque and killed 22 Muslims, which would not happen and should not happen. But about this, which happens all too often, you will likely hear nothing except here.

Gunmen fire on Niger baptism ceremony, kill 22 villagers

AFP, September 17, 2025:

Gunmen on motorbikes shot dead 22 villagers in western Niger, most attending a baptism ceremony, local media and other sources said Tuesday.

The shootings happened Monday in the Tillaberi region, near Burkina Faso and Mali, where jihadist groups linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group (IS) are active.

A resident of the area told AFP 15 people were killed first at a baptism ceremony in Takoubatt village.

“The attackers then went to the outskirts of Takoubatt where they killed seven other people,” said the resident, who requested anonymity for security reasons.

Local media outlet Elmaestro TV reported a “gruesome death toll of 22 innocent people cowardly killed without reason or justification”….

The rights monitoring group estimates that the Islamic State group has “summarily executed” more than 127 villagers and Muslim worshippers in Tillaberi in five attacks since March….

The group kills Muslims who do not accept its authority, and who are accordingly considered to be apostates or hypocrites.

22 wounded as Houthi drone from Yemen hits Eilat

The Israeli Air Force opened an investigation after the two Iron Dome interceptor missiles failed to down the UAV.

Twenty-two people were injured on Wednesday evening when a drone launched by Houthi terrorists in Yemen struck the southern Israeli city of Eilat.

Magen David Adom said its medics treated victims at the scene and evacuated them—including two in serious condition—to the city’s Yoseftal Hospital.

Video circulating online showed people scrambling for cover as air-raid sirens sounded, with the UAV appearing to strike near a major shopping center adjacent to Eilat’s main boardwalk.

The Israel Defense Forces said interception attempts were made, and that search-and-rescue teams were operating at the impact site.

The Israeli Air Force opened an investigation after the two Iron Dome interceptor missiles failed to down the UAV.

The Israel Police urged residents to stay away from the crash site and avoid touching debris, warning it may contain explosives.

The military urged the public to continue adhering to Home Front Command guidelines.

Last Thursday, an unmanned aerial vehicle that was launched toward Israel “from the east” impacted in the courtyard of a hotel in Eilat. No injuries were reported.

A second drone was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force minutes later, the IDF said.

The term “from the east” is typically used by the IDF to refer to attacks by Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen.

Approximately an hour later, the Houthis fired a ballistic missile that triggered air-raid alerts across central Israel, sending millions of civilians to bomb shelters.

On Sept. 16, the IDF struck Hudaydah Port in Houthi-controlled Yemen, accusing the terrorist group of using the facility to transfer Iranian-supplied weapons for attacks on Israel and its allies.

The strike targeted a “military infrastructure site,” with the IDF saying it was “in response to the repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel, including the launch of UAVs and surface-to-surface missiles.”

The Houthis have carried out missile and drone attacks on the Jewish state—including a direct missile hit near Ben-Gurion International Airport on May 4—since the Hamas-led massacre in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

A Houthi explosive drone crashed into Ramon Airport near Eilat on Sept. 7, shortly after the IAF intercepted three UAVs launched from Yemen.

Jerusalem has conducted several rounds of strikes against the Houthis, including an Aug. 28 operation that killed their “prime minister” and several other Cabinet officials.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Friday that Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Houthis, and his government would be sent to “the depths of hell.”

“Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, your time will come,” Katz said, adding that he and his subordinates will meet “all the envoys of the Axis of Evil.”

The slogan “Death to Israel, curse upon the Jews,” written on the Houthi flag, Katz added, “will be replaced by the blue-and-white Israeli flag that will fly in the capital of united Yemen.”

Bill Maher Denounces Media for Ignoring Christian Persecution in Nigeria

Comedian, political commentator, and television host Bill Maher criticized the media for failing to cover the ongoing persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
 Sep 29, 2025

Comedian, political commentator, and television host Bill Maher criticized the media for failing to cover the ongoing persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

“Nigeria, the fact that this issue has not gotten on people’s radar, it’s pretty amazing. If you don’t know what’s going on in Nigeria, your media sources suck. You are in a bubble,” Maher said during a panel discussion with Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who's also running for governor of the Palmetto State, The Christian Post reported.

“I’m not a Christian, but they are systematically killing the Christians in Nigeria. They’ve killed over 100,000 since 2009. They’ve burned 18,000 churches. These are the Islamists, Boko Haram,” he said. “This is so much more of a genocide attempt than what is going on in Gaza. They are literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country.”
“Where are the kids protesting this?” he asked.
According to USA Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List, Nigeria comes in at number 7 on its list of top 50 countries where Christian persecution is most rampant.
“The measure of anti-Christian violence in the country is already at the maximum possible under World Watch List methodology,” the report stated.
In Nigeria alone, 3,100 (69%) Christians were killed for their faith out of the 4,476 who were killed worldwide during the reporting period.
The report states that in the north-central region of Nigeria, which has a higher population of Christians compared to the northeast and northwest, Islamic extremist Fulani militias assault agricultural communities, resulting in the deaths of hundreds, predominantly Christians.
Christians in the country’s northern states are targets of raids, sexual violence, and roadblock killings by Jihadist groups such as Boko Haram and the splinter group Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), among others, while the federal government in that region is scant.
Additionally, a new jihadist group Lakurawa has emerged in the northwest and is affiliated with the expansionist al-Qaeda insurgency Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin, or JNIM, originating in Mali.
