Can you imagine Biden, or Kamala, or Trudeau speaking like this without notes or teleprompters?

In Vedomosti: The Russian President formulated six principles of a new world order and spoke about them in his speech at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi. The topic of the current meeting was formulated as follows: "A Lasting Peace - on What Basis? Universal Security and Equal Opportunities for Development in the 21st Century." Valdai, which brought together participants from Western and Eastern countries, began on October (November?) 4, on the eve of the US presidential election, and the plenary session with Putin's participation took place on the 7th, when it became known that Republican Donald Trump would win (Vedomosti wrote about this in detail the day before). But the Russian President approached this topic only after two hours of conversation.
And it's not a pity to call
When Trump was first elected to the US presidency in 2016, there was talk that he could make many mistakes because he was a businessman, Putin noted. The Russian president was impressed by how the White House occupant behaved during an assassination attempt during the election campaign. “He turned out to be a courageous man. And it’s not just about raising his hand and calling for people to fight for their ideals. A person shows themselves in extraordinary circumstances. This is where a person shows themselves. And he showed himself, in my opinion, in the right way, courageously, like a man,” Putin said. According to the Russian president, Trump was “hounded from all sides” at some point.
At the same time, Putin found it difficult to say what would happen next. He recalled that this would be Trump's second and final term. But what the Republican said publicly about restoring relations with Russia, about the possibility of resolving the situation with the conflict in Ukraine, deserves attention. The president added that he does not take into account Trump's words during the election campaign, since it was a fight for voters' votes.
"I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his election as President of the United States. I have already said that we will work with any head of state that the American people trust," Putin said. When asked by Russia in Global Affairs editor-in-chief Fyodor Lukyanov what Putin would do if Trump called him and offered to meet, the president replied that he himself did not consider it shameful to call. He recalled that some Western leaders used to call him every week, but then stopped. If they want to resume contacts, then we will resume them, Putin added.
"This is the sixth president in your lifetime," Lukyanov noted. And he asked Putin which of the US leaders he remembered.
"You know, they are all interesting people. It is hard to imagine a person who would end up at the top of power in one of the world's leading countries and be absolutely insignificant or stupid, an uninteresting person," the Russian president said. In his opinion, the domestic political culture in the United States is becoming more acute, and methods are being used to "let down" the current head of state. Putin recalled how many attacks there were on George Bush, and called them lies: "He is in no way inferior to anyone sitting in this room."
Putin's Testament
Beginning his speech, Putin said that the meeting was taking place on a significant date for Russia (the day of the October Revolution of 1917), noting that we are now living in an era of change. Over the past 20 years, nations have begun to more clearly understand their uniqueness and identity. And the world is facing an increasing number of challenges - from new regional conflicts to climate change. A "serious, irreconcilable struggle" is unfolding for the formation of a new world order, Putin said. According to him, this is a fight not for geopolitical influence, but for principles.
Democracy is beginning to be interpreted as the rule of the minority, the president said. This can be seen in the example of Western liberalism, which is intolerant of any alternative. "Finally, these are international conflicts and clashes fraught with mutual destruction. After all, weapons capable of doing this exist and are constantly being improved. <...> And the club of those who possess such weapons is expanding, and no one guarantees that in the event of an avalanche-like increase in threats and the final destruction of legal and moral norms, they will not be used," Putin said. He emphasized that the West's calls to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia demonstrate "the extreme adventurism of Western politicians" - this could "turn into a global tragedy."
Some Western elites, he said, are ready to do anything to prevent the emergence of an international system that would meet the interests of the global majority. When Washington and Western countries recognize the fact that a new world system is being built, “genuine creation” will begin.
Russia does not perceive Western civilization as an enemy, Putin noted: "The West has accumulated truly enormous <...> resources, thanks to which it can successfully develop, remaining one of the most important elements of the world system. But precisely "one of", on a par with other actively developing states and groups of countries." The West also attempted to separate Russia from the world economic system and wanted to deal a crushing blow. The mainstream is directed in the opposite direction, and not in the direction the West is looking - "from a descending hegemonic world to an ascending diversity," Putin said.
Putin has spoken at length about how the world order was formed first after World War II and then after the end of the Cold War. The West's misinterpretation of the Cold War's results was a manifestation of its "geopolitical greed," which led to regional conflicts - in the Balkans, the Middle East, and now in Ukraine, Putin believes. He called the philosopher Francis Fukuyama's "end of history" concept short-sighted. New leaders began to emerge in the world, while the West began to adjust the rules it had established, which led to a conflict between the global majority and the global minority. According to Putin, no one should feel humiliated in a multipolar world.
New World Order
Putin named six principles of the new world order. He spoke about them at last year's Valdai meeting, but now he developed his thoughts. The first principle is openness to interaction is the main value for the international majority. The second principle is that the diversity of the world is a factor in its sustainability. The development model of one country should not be imposed on others, Putin said.
The third principle, he said, is that the world should develop on the basis of maximum representativeness. Those who are commonly called great powers believe that they can dictate the rules to others, Putin said. Another principle is security for all, and the bloc approach contradicts the multipolar world. Now there is only one bloc left in the world - NATO. "[The West] needs to tear Russia and Europe apart, especially Russia and Germany, France. That's how they brought it to a coup in Ukraine and to military actions in the southeast, in Donbass. They simply forced us to take retaliatory actions," the president believes.
Military-political blocs are an obstacle to development, he noted. According to him, the prototype of a non-aligned community is BRICS.
The fifth principle is justice for all, Putin said. According to him, the main problem is inequality, the gap between the golden billion and the world majority. The sixth principle, according to the president, should be equality. He believes that in today's world, arrogance and the desire to teach other countries are destructive - something Russia has never done.
"Over several centuries, stereotypes, a kind of hierarchy, have developed in the Western-centric world. There is, they say, a developed world, progressive humanity and some kind of universal civilization that everyone should strive for. And then there are backward, uncivilized peoples, barbarians," Putin said. In his opinion, this approach is a racist ideology that hinders universal harmonious development.
