Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Swiss police killed an axe and knife-wielding asylum seeker from Iran who took 15 train passengers hostage Thursday night near Yverdon.

According to police reports they stormed the train when they saw the man move away from the hostages and fatally shot him when he attacked police.

The man was killed and hostages freed when police burst onto the train at 10:15 p.m. local time Thursday night.

"Around 10:15 p.m., the attack was launched and the hostages were all released unharmed," a Vaud canton police statement said. "The hostage taker was fatally injured during the intervention. The Public Prosecutor's Office was informed and opened a criminal investigation."

The 32-year-old man who took the passengers hostage forced the train to stop at the Essert-sous-Champvent station. He forced the train mechanic to leave his post and join the other passenger hostages.

More than 60 police officers responded to the hostage incident on the train line linking Baulmes to Yverdon-les-Bains.

The hostage-taker's motive was unknown.

Except that he was from Iran, and therefore a Muslim, and because he was very stressed, he was probably radicalized and completely insane.

The hostages and family members were taken to Yverdon and supported by the psychological unit of Public Health, according to police.

One passenger said the hostage-taker appeared to be "very stressed."

U.K. police say London chemical attack suspect likely vanished in the Thames

The suspect in a London chemical attack that left a woman hospitalized with life-changing injuries and injured her two young daughters likely has vanished in the River Thames, police said Friday.

Metropolitan Police Commander Jon Savell said closed-circuit television images showed Abdul Ezedi walking on a bridge over the river but never exiting it. Investigators concluded he had probably “gone into the water,” although they haven’t found a body.

Or, someone picked him up!

“At this time of year, the Thames is very fast flowing, very wide and full of lots of snags,” Savell told reporters. “It is quite likely that if he has gone in the water, he won’t appear for maybe up to a month, and it’s not beyond possibility that he may never actually surface.”

Police launched a nationwide manhunt for Ezedi, 35, after the woman and her daughter were attacked with an alkaline substance in the Clapham area of south London on Jan. 31. Images of Ezedi captured after the attack revealed he suffered significant injuries to the right side of his face.

The woman had previously been in a relationship with him, according to police.

British media reported that Ezedi is an Afghan refugee who was granted asylum even after he was convicted of a sex offense in Britain in 2018. Ezedi’s asylum application was initially rejected, but he was later given permission to remain in the U.K. after claiming that he had converted to Christianity, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported.

Police said their inquiries continue.

Arras attack: an acquaintance of the attacker sentenced to

socio-judicial monitoring for advocating terrorism

An 18-year-old young man, acquaintance of Mohammed Mogouchkov, the Arras attacker, was sentenced Tuesday to socio-judicial monitoring for advocating terrorism.

It was as part of the investigation into the assassination of literature professor Dominique Bernard, stabbed to death on October 13, 2023, that Dani M., a young man with no record and a thick red beard, was spotted by investigators.

Without the assistance of a lawyer, he repeated his comments made against Charlie Hebdo in front of an educator three days before the Arras attack. “It was normal that at one point they were attacked,” he said. “When you insult the prophet and everything, this is what happens,” insisted this native of Arras. “It’s deserved for them, but I couldn’t do that,” he continued.

On October 10, he also told the educator his intention to go to jihad after his military service in Algeria, where he lived for 10 years. Then approved the assassination of Samuel Paty, mimed a throat-slitting gesture on her and ended up kissing a photo of Osama Bin Laden on his phone.

He was also prosecuted for comments against Jews. “I’m going to behead all these sons of bitches,” he said in Arabic in a video. Before the judges, he assured that he had spoken under the influence of cannabis and anger, a few days after the Hamas attacks and Israel’s response.

“We are not sure of provocation: we are indeed talking about someone who expresses his convictions,” noted the prosecutor, whose requisitions were followed.

This 5-year follow-up, delivered in Arras, is accompanied by an obligation of training and care, as well as 210 hours of community service. In the event of non-compliance, Dani M. risks up to two years in prison. However, the young man said nothing about his relationship with Mohammed Mogouchkov during the hearing.

And, apparently, no-one asked!

Arab students suspended after beating teacher who objected

to their provocative display of Palestine flags in schoolyard

A high school in Germany will have a larger security presence after a Muslim student was suspended for assaulting a teacher who objected to another Arab student provocatively waving a Palestinian flag in the schoolyard.

The incident occurred at the Ernst-Abbe-Gymnasium school on Monday, initiated by a 14-year-old student who arrived at the school wearing a Palestinian flag as a cape and wrapping a Palestinian scarf around his head.

The student was asked by a 61-year-old teacher to refrain from displaying the items in adherence with the school’s policy against the wearing of political symbols.

According to a police statement, another Arab student, a 15-year-old boy, confronted the teacher and squared up to him in a threatening manner. The student headbutted the teacher, prompting the educator to respond in self-defense by striking the boy in the face. The teacher was then subsequently kicked to the floor and beaten.

If physically attacking teachers is ever allowed to happen in schools, Germany is completely lost!

France on Saturday said it will deploy 7,000 soldiers after declaring a top-level alert following the fatal stabbing of a teacher by a suspect of Chechen origin, who also severely wounded three others at a school.

The attack took place in the northeastern town of Arras, home to large Jewish and Muslim populations.

Police arrested the suspected attacker, Mohammed Moguchkov, who had cried the Arabic phrase "Allahu Akbar!" (God is greatest), according to the preliminary elements of the investigation.

Authorities have suggested a probable link to the ongoing violence in the Middle East, with President Emmanuel Macron denouncing the incident as an act of "Islamist terror".

The deployment of the soldiers from Operation Sentinelle will be completed by Monday evening, according to the Élysée presidential palace.

Sentinelle is a French military operation with 10,000 soldiers and 4,700 police and gendarmes deployed since the aftermath of the January 2015 attacks to protect parts of the country deemed sensitive from terrorism.

"This school was struck by the barbarity of Islamist terrorism," Macron said after visiting the school, adding that the victim had "probably saved many lives" with his courage in blocking the attacker.

Macron said another attempted attack in another region had been foiled by security forces.

According to the interior ministry, the president was referring to the arrest of a "radicalised" man who was arrested leaving a prayer hall in the Yvelines département (administrative unit) near Paris for carrying a prohibited weapon.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin later said there was "probably a link between what's happening in the Middle East and this incident" in Arras.

France upped its alert level to the highest position following a crunch security meeting chaired by Macron on Friday, the prime minister's office told AFP.

A total of 10 people have been put into custody, a police source told AFP on Saturday.

In addition to the suspected attacker, several members of his family are being held following the stabbing on Friday, the source said. Two Belarusians were among those in custody, another police source said.

The national anti-terrorism prosecutor announced that it has opened an investigation.

Moguchkov, who is in his 20s, is from Russia's mainly Muslim southern Caucasus region of Chechnya. He was already on a French national register known as "Fiche S" as a potential security threat, a police source told AFP, and under electronic and physical surveillance by France's domestic intelligence agency, the DGSI.

Radicalized Muslims, like those on Fiche S, must be segregated from French society. They are not sane, and they can be triggered into hysteria at a moment's notice.

'Terrorism has struck' 

The victim, a French teacher, was stabbed in the throat and chest.

Among those wounded were a school security guard who was stabbed multiple times and is fighting for his life, and a teacher in a less serious condition, the source added.

A cleaner was also hurt, according to anti-terror prosecutor Jean-François Ricard. No pupils at the school were hurt, another police source said.

The attack comes almost three years to the day after the October 16, 2020 beheading of teacher Samuel Paty, also by a man of Chechen origin, near his school in a Paris suburb.

“BREAKING: At Least Two Dead After ‘Allah hu Akbar’

At least two people have been shot dead this evening in Brussels, Belgium, according to local reports. 

The victims are said to be Swedish tourists in town for a Euro 2024 football (soccer) match. Their killer allegedly shouted the Arabic phrase “Allah hu Akbar” – sometimes translated as “God is great,” but which, in context, actually means “Allah is greater [than your God]”. 

The suspect is still believed be at-large. Gunshots broke out on Ypres Boulevard, a short walk from the famous Grand Place, at around 7 p.m. on Monday. The suspect, wearing an orange jacket, is said to have dismounted from a scooter, and used what has been described as a Kalashnikov-type rifle, opening fire. 

The video below appears to show the suspect chasing people into a building before cornering them and shooting them dead.

It's a shame that the brilliant Kissinger took 8 years to figure out what so many of us did in 8 minutes.

A man arrested in connection with shots that were fired outside a synagogue in Albany, New York, on Thursday has been federally charged, officials said.

Mufid Fawaz Alkhader was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, FBI spokesperson Sarah Ruane told NBC News.

Alkhader, 28, was born in Iraq and is now a U.S. citizen. He recently lived in Schenectady, New York, according to the criminal complaint….

23 soldiers killed in suicide truck bombing

Dec. 12 (UPI) -- At least 23 Pakistani soldiers were killed and dozens were injured early Tuesday in a suicide bombing after a truck loaded with explosives was driven into the perimeter wall of a police compound near the border with Afghanistan.

Responsibility for the attack on the outpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest of the country, which was being used as a base by the army, was claimed by an offshoot of the Pakistan Taliban.

The militants blew up the truck, demolishing the main building to collapse after a failed attempt to storm the base in Dera Ismail Khan district, according to the military.

Six militants were killed but an official said many of the dead soldiers were sleeping at the time and may have been killed by ammunition stored at the site that was set off during the attack.

A Muslim family in Nashville, Tennessee, was arrested early Tuesday for allegedly assaulting their son for converting to Christianity, according to local reports.

The victim told police his father, mother, and brother repeatedly punched him and spat in his face, according to an arrest warrant obtained by FOX 17.

Arrest records show the mother, Rawaa Khawaji, scratched the back of his right hand with a knife.

The victim accused his family of demanding that he renounce Christianity and return to Islam….

Responding Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers were reported to have found the victim “trembling and wide-eyed” with “disheveled hair.” The victim also appeared to have been “cut haphazardly” with lumps on his face….

Online records show the brother, John Kadum, and the father, Nick Kadum, were released Tuesday afternoon. 

Funny! John and Nick are Christian names! 

The mother, Rawaa Khawaji, remains in custody on a charge of domestic violence.

Day of Jihad? Teacher stabbed to death

A teacher has been killed and two others severely injured in a stabbing spree at a French high school late on Friday morning during which the suspected Islamist perpetrator shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack.

Police responded to an incident at the Gambetta High School in the northern French city of Arras following reports of an ex-student wielding a knife and attacking members of staff.

One teacher was pronounced dead by emergency responders, while another teacher and a security guard were hospitalized after sustaining several stab wounds, according to French broadcaster BFM TV.

French media outlets confirmed a 20-year-old Chechen man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while his younger brother was also arrested in the vicinity of another high school.

“A police operation took place at the Gambetta High School in Arras. The perpetrator was arrested by the police,” confirmed Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin on X, formerly Twitter….

France: 4 in 10 Muslim students refuse to unequivocally condemn stabbing of teacher in Islamist terror attack

Nearly 4 in 10 Muslim students in France opted against unequivocally condemning the stabbing of teacher Dominique Bernard by an Islamist extremist on Oct. 13 in recent polling.

The Ifop survey asked a weighted sample of 1,805 students in French state education between the ages of 15 and 17 the following: “A teacher, Dominique Bernard, was murdered by an Islamist of Ingush [Ingushetia is in the Caucasus] origin in a high school in Arras. When you think of the perpetrator of this assassination, what is your reaction?”

When accounting for all students [Muslim and non-Muslim], 91 percent expressed total condemnation of the murder…

However, when focusing purely on the demographic of students who are practicing Muslims, the figures changed considerably.

Just 62 percent unequivocally condemned the terror attack, 23 percent said they condemned it but sympathized with the attacker’s motivation, while 8 percent refused to condemn the attack, and 7 percent were indifferent.

The polling revealed a concerning proportion of French Muslims sympathize with jihadist Mohammed Mogouchkov, a former pupil of his victim’s school who shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he stabbed Bernard multiple times and injured three other staff members.

Mogouchkov conducted the attack on the same day that Khaled Meshaal, the founder of the terrorist organization Hamas, had proclaimed as a “day of jihad”…

India: Islamic State jihadis declare a village in Padgha

a ‘liberated zone,’ Hamas flags found in police raids

Several ISIS modules have recently become active in different parts of India and may keep the National Investigation Agency (NIA) busy for some time. In our previous articles, we have discussed how Kerala, a state in Southern India with a sizable Muslim population, has turned into a farm for cultivating the fresh crop of ISIS recruits. The Islamic terror group is now expanding its reach to other Indian states as well.

On December 9, the NIA confirmed that it had arrested 15 Islamic State terrorists at 44 locations across Maharashtra and Karnataka; these terrorists belonged to the ISIS Maharashtra module. 51 Hamas flags were found. As per the initial investigation of the agency, these Islamic jihadis had declared a village located in Padgha in rural Thane as a “liberated zone” and as “Al-Sham.” Al-Sham generally refers to Syria and its environs.

The security agency has recovered massive amounts of currency that is unaccounted for, as well as incriminating documents, weapons such as swords and knives, firearms including pistols and air guns, smartphones and other digital devices such as laptops, hard disks, and CDs during the raids conducted as part of their routine activities to disrupt and destroy the proscribed organization’s ongoing attempts to carry out terror activities.

The agency’s investigations have also revealed that all members of the ISIS Maharashtra module were operating from Padgha-Borivali and formulating plans to spread terror across India. The arrested terrorists were provoking Muslim youth in all these areas to relocate to Padgha and increase their strength at the Padgha base, according to the NIA in its official press release.

The press release emphasized that ISIS is a Global Terror Organisation (GTO), also known as Islamic State (IS), Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), Daish, Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP), ISIS Wilayat Khorasan, Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham Khorasan (ISIS-K). In the past few months, NIA has conducted several large-scale raids and apprehended multiple ISIS modules.

The security agency published a press release on X that revealed alarming details about the terror module. It stated that the arrested accused included Saqib Nachan, the leader and head of the terror state module, who was administering “Bayat” (an oath of allegiance to Khalifa of ISIS) to the recruits.

The NIA further pointed out that the accused were plotting a war against the Indian government. The press release reads, “Pursuing the path of violent Jihad, Khilafat, ISIS, etc., the accused had aimed to disturb the peace and communal harmony of the country and to wage a war against the Government of India.”

NIA investigations have revealed that the accused were operating according to directions received from their foreign handlers. They were involved in the construction of IEDs for furthering the violent and destructive agenda of the Islamic State in India. The agency has also arrested many terrorists in the ISIS terror conspiracy case and progressed in its mission to scuttle the Islamic organization’s odious and horrific anti-India agenda.

In November, Indian agencies foiled a terrorist plot against Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in the state of Gujarat and Nariman House and Gateway of India in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Indian forces have foiled strikes against unspecified high-profile military bases, images of which were sent to Pakistan and Syria as well. As per sources, these may have been planned by the Islamic State. The involvement of students of the Aligarh Muslim University is also indicated. Had these been successful, these terror strikes could have been among the biggest-ever attacks on India.

In October, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had picked up one Shahnawaz, alias Shafi Uzzama, from a hideout in the national capital, suspecting him to be an ISIS member. Reportedly, the Islamic State had planned terror attacks in Kerala under his command. They had made arrangements to set off blasts at different places, including one of the major Hindu pilgrims, the Sabarimala temple.

The ISIS suspect is also a love jihadi. In his confession, Shahnawaz revealed to authorities that his wife was a Hindu before she converted to Islam. He had met her at Aligarh University, where the two subsequently got involved in terror plots.

Further in his confession, Shahnawaz confirmed that he joined Hizb ut-Tahir, an Islamic outfit whose stated aim is to establish the Islamic caliphate and unite all Muslims. The NIA had made several arrests from raids conducted in Madhya Pradesh and Telangana, and apprehended several terror modules. The arrested individuals were said to be linked with the HuT.
