Germany: Study finds antisemitism four times higher among Muslims

The global movement to garner support for the Palestinian “resistance” (which is actually a jihad from the River to the Sea), perpetuated not only by the Palestinian leadership, but also by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (See also HERE), is a good indicator of where Islamic authorities stand with respect to antisemitism.

Let’s hope this latest study by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation awakens the German government, which remains in willful denial.

Only three months ago, the German government reportedly took a “clear stance against antisemitism” while ignoring Islamic Jew-hatred.

In 2018, Angela Merkel admitted on a TV show that anti-Semitism was coming to the country from “refugees or people of Arab origin.”

An investigation into the prevalence of antisemitic opinions in Germany has found, in general, that such views are vanishingly rare in the country, but that they are held to a much greater degree among some groups. Research conducted in 2022 and published this week which interviewed 5,511 people including 500 Muslims asked members of the public by telephone whether they agreed with some harmful tropes. It found just four per cent agreed with the statement “Jews are sneaky”, and that six per cent agreed with “rich Jews are the actual rulers of the world”. Israel also enjoyed overwhelming majority support, with four per cent saying it should not exist as a state.

Several demographic differentiators including where in Germany the respondent lived, their age, and gender made “almost no systematic difference” to the results, it was said.

Yet some factors, including holding hard left and hard right political opinions, low levels of education, and having a migration background increased the likelihood of holding antisemitic views, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation ‘Anti-Semitic Attitudes in Germany’ report found. Yet according to the paper, one factor was more influential than the others: holding the Islamic faith.

The report found “on average, people of Muslim faith show significantly higher agreement values [with antisemitic tropes] than Christians and non-denominational people”. Three times as many Muslims would agree that Jewish people are “sneaky”, it said its research discovered, and four times as many said Israel should not be a state…..

Actually, I'm surprised the numbers are that low. Perhaps some responders were afraid to express their real feelings. Also, as has been shown elsewhere in Europe, younger Muslims are more devout than older Muslims who are more likely to respond to a survey.

Israel’s ambassador to Germany was ordered to leave a Berlin restaurant this week, after the owner recognized the ambassador as a representative of the State of Israel.

The incident occurred on Monday, when Avi Berg, an Israeli expatriate living in Berlin who owns the Café Dodo restaurant spotted Ambassador Ron Prosor in his establishment.

“I had the honor, about an hour ago, to tell the Israeli Ambassador to Germany – who was sitting in Dodo – that because he represents Israel and because he is implementing the unacceptable and manipulative policy [of Israel] which portrays all criticism of Israel as antisemitism – a policy that paints me and people like me as antisemites – he is not welcome in my café,” Berg wrote on Facebook.

That's because most criticism is Palestinian propaganda and outright lies.

“I asked him and his entourage of German guards to leave the establishment. And they did so immediately.”

Two days later, Berg told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that he targeted Prosor as a representative of the State of Israel – not for any actions or comments by Prosor personally.

“I would like to emphasize that I did what I did specifically because the ambassador isn’t an individual but an official representative of the state of Israel and since he and the embassy are deeply involved in putting pressure on the Bundestag and on German media and institutions to block any criticism of Israel and to label any such criticism as antisemitism.”

“This diplomacy is implemented all over the world, but is especially effective in Germany… This policy is also very damaging against the fight against genuine antisemitism!”

Berg’s Facebook page includes numerous comments and posts of articles condemning Israel for “horrific racist crime[s].”

One post linked to an article by the far-left anti-Israel Mondoweiss.net blog titled “Yes, Israel is a racist state.”

For a leader of Iran’s Quds Force to threaten to murder a citizen inside another sovereign nation on grounds that are illegal only in Iran is nothing short of a declaration of war. The threat was against Salwan Momika, “an Iraqi immigrant, who burned pages from the Quran in front of the central mosque in Stockholm on the first day of Eid al-Adha.”

Momika is now living with a fear that is similar to that which is all too frequently experienced by religious minorities in Islamic countries (particularly Pakistan), who can easily be acccused of blasphemy. It is noteworthy that he is originally from Iraq. In Sweden, he should be safe, but given the “extraterritorial military and clandestine operations” of Iran’s Quds Force, Momika is not safe.

Ali Mohammadi-Sirat’s threat should be a top headline in every Western media outlet, as it shows the truth about how far Iran will go to demonstrate its contempt for the laws of Western nations.

It also demonstrates the unwillingness of Western media to stand up to Islamic hysteria.

Khamenei’s Man In IRGC Quds Force Threatens Quran Burners

The representative of Iran’s ruler in the foreign wing of the Revolutionary Guard has issued threats against the man who burned a Quran in Sweden last month.

Ali Mohammadi-Sirat, the Supreme Leader’s man in IRGC’s Quds (Qods) Force – a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations – said the man who disrespected the Quran should fear for his life. He called upon Swedish authorities to hand over the individual to a Muslim country, emphasizing that “whoever insults Prophet Muhammad and the Holy Quran will be sentenced to execution”.

Having said that, he makes it impossible for Sweden to hand over Momika even if they wanted to.

The incident involved Salwan Momika, an Iraqi immigrant, who burned pages from the Quran in front of the central mosque in Stockholm on the first day of Eid al-Adha, after obtaining a permit from a Swedish court. Some 200 onlookers witnessed him tearing up a copy of the Quran and wiping his shoes with the pages. He then put bacon on the book and set it on fire whilst another protestor addressed crowds with a megaphone. Momika repeated the desecration in front of the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm on July 20. The following day, in neighboring Denmark, members of the far-right nationalist group “Danske Patrioter (Danish Patriots)” burned a copy of the Quran in front of Iraq’s Embassy in Copenhagen.

Iran’s Supreme Leader called for the severest punishment for the perpetrators, describing it as “a bitter, conspiratorial, and perilous act.” In an interview with IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency on Wednesday, Mohammadi-Sirat repeated Khamenei’s demands and stressed that these men will not be safe wherever they are, a similar fate to that of Salman Rushdie, an Indian-born British writer who was stabbed in August 2022 because of a death edict by Islamic Republic’s founder Ruhollah Khomeini. In the late 1980s, Khomeini issued a Fatwa for the killing of Rushdie for his book, Satanic Verses, seen by some Muslims as insulting to Prophet Muhammed. India: Police bust Islamic State terror cell,

India’s counterterrorism police in the western state of Maharashtra have busted a terrorist cell affiliate to the Islamic State. On Thursday, security services arrested the fifth member of the so-called “Maharashtra ISIS module,” a sleeper cell plotting terrorist attacks on Indian soil. The members of the terror outfit included an IT engineer and a physician, media reports confirm.

The Islamic State, created in 2013 within the territories of Syria and Iraq, grew into a global jihadist force during President Barack Obama’s term in office. Under President Donald Trump’s watch, the ISIS caliphate in Syria and Iraq was wiped out by the U.S. military and allied forces. President Trump also ordered the airstrike that killed ISIS “caliph,” or chief, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

OK. Point made, but let's be honest, the ISIS caliphate was not 'wiped out' until Syria invited Russia to come in. They never invited the USA, and the American effort looked like it was going to go on for many years. This is how America and NATO move military arsenals, which is the whole point of modern warfare.

While the ISIS has lost its territories, the idea of an Islamic caliphate still holds sway among Muslims across the world, including India. The terrorist group enjoyed substantial following among Indian Muslims, particular in the Muslim majority areas. ISIS flags were repeatedly displayed at protest rallies and Islamic festivities in Kashmir.

NIA arrests Pune doctor in Maharashtra ISIS module case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday made the fifth arrest in connection with Maharashtra ISIS module case for promoting violent activities of the banned terrorist group. Renowned anaesthesiologist Dr Adnan Ali Sarkar was taken into custody by the NIA sleuths following raid at his Kondhwa residence in Pune.

The NIA in a statement released said that it was the fifth arrest in the case registered on June 28. Four others arrested by the central agency on July 3 after extensive searches were identified as Tabish Nasser Siddiqui from Mumbai, Zubair Noor Mohammed Shaikh alias Abu Nusaiba from Pune, and Sharjeel Shaikh and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala from Thane.

The NIA release stated that during the raid several incriminating materials, such as electronic gadgets and several documents related to ISIS, were found at Sarkar’s Kondhwa house.

The accused, according to the probe agency, hatched a conspiracy to further ISIS terrorist activities, known by different names such as Islamic State (IS)/Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL)/Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)/Daish/ Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP)/ISIS Wilayat Khorasan/Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham Khorasan (ISIS-K), the release said.

Myanmar's Suu Kyi moved from prison to govt 'compound',

Suu Kyi has only been seen once since she was held after the February 1, 2021 putsch -- in grainy state media photos from a bare courtroom in the military-built capital Naypyidaw.

The coup plunged the Southeast Asian nation into a conflict that has displaced more than one million people, according to the United Nations.

"Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been moved to a high-level venue compound on Monday night," an official from the National League for Democracy told AFP Friday on condition of anonymity.

The party official also confirmed Suu Kyi had met the country's lower house speaker Ti Khun Myat and was likely to meet Deng Xijuan, China's special envoy for Asian Affairs, who is visiting the country.

A source from another political party said Suu Kyi had been moved to a VIP compound in Naypyidaw.

In July, Thailand's foreign minister said he had met with Suu Kyi, the first-known meeting with a foreign envoy since she was detained. A junta spokesman told AFP the meeting had lasted more than one hour but did not give details on what was discussed.

There have been concerns about the 78-year-old Nobel laureate's health since her detention, including during her trial in a junta court that required her to attend almost daily hearings.

Suu Kyi has been sentenced to 33 years in jail for a clutch of charges, including corruption, possession of illegal walkie talkies and flouting coronavirus restrictions.

Rights groups slammed her trial as a sham designed to remove the popular leader from politics.

In June 2022, after more than a year under house arrest in Naypyidaw, Suu Kyi was moved to a prison compound in another part of the capital.

There she was no longer permitted her domestic staff of around ten people and assigned military-chosen helpers, sources told AFP at the time.

Confinement in the isolated capital is a far cry from the years Suu Kyi spent under house arrest during a previous junta, where she became a world-famous democracy figurehead. During that period, she lived at her family's colonial-era lakeside mansion in commercial hub Yangon and regularly gave speeches to crowds on the other side of her garden wall.

Tarnished image

Suu Kyi remains hugely popular in Myanmar, even after her international image was tainted by her power-sharing deal with the generals and failure to speak up for the persecuted Rohingya minority.

But many fighting for democracy have jettisoned her core principal of non-violence and taken up arms to try and permanently root out military dominance of the country's politics and economy.

The military has cited alleged widespread voter fraud during elections in November 2020 as a reason for its coup, which sparked huge protests and a bloody crackdown.

Those polls were won resoundingly by Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy, with international observers at the time saying they were largely free and fair.

After the coup, many senior NLD members were jailed or sent into hiding.

In March, Myanmar's junta-stacked election commission announced the NLD would be dissolved for failing to re-register under a new military-drafted electoral law.

The junta has yet to announce a date for fresh polls it had said it will hold.

More than 3,800 people have been killed since the coup, according to a local monitoring group.

U.S. blacklists ex-Panamanian President Varela over 'significant corruption'

July 14 (UPI) -- The Biden administration on Thursday banned former Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela Rodriguez from entering the United States on accusations of being involved in "significant corruption."

Varela was designated ineligible for entry by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who accused the 59-year-old of accepting bribes in exchange for government contracts while serving first as vice president and then as president, a position he held from 2014 to 2019.

"This designation reaffirms the commitment of the United States to combat endemic corruption in Panama," Blinken said.

The announcement follows President Joe Biden having taken several actions to target corruption in Central America as his administration has said it is of national security interest and a cause prompting migrants and refugees to seek illegal entrance into the United States.

Early in his administration, Biden made inedible(sic, ineligible?) for entry to the United States dozens of Central American officials accused of committing corruption and other actions to undermine the rule of law and democracy, including former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez.

The Biden administration has also banned entry to former Honduran President Porfirio "Pepe" Lobo Sosa and his wife, Rose Elena Bonilla Avila.

Is it possible for a Central American government to exist without corruption?

"It is our hope that today's action will prompt Panama's elected representatives and authorities to tackle entrenched corruption and empower all those who stand up for the rule of law," Blinken said.

"Corruption anywhere damages the national security and economic health of the United States and our allies. We will continue to promote accountability for those involved in significant corruption throughout the world."

In response to the blacklisting, Varela rejected the accusations, saying that as president he transparently worked to serve the Panamanian people.

"I was an honest president of a dignified and sovereign country," he said on Twitter. "I will do everything I have to do to defend my honor and that of my family.

In The Netherlands, Muslim Economic Migrants Housed on Cruise Ships

The Netherlands has lost control of its borders. It must take in the quota of “asylum seekers” assigned to it by the EU. Within the Netherlands, cities and towns must take in the number of those claiming “asylum seeker” status that the national government charges them with accepting. The number of these migrants keeps growing, far outpacing the number of available housing units, so now the Dutch government has resorted both to building new housing, not for the Dutch poor, but for those “asylum seekers” who are, in truth, Muslim economic migrants, and also to putting some migrants on cruise ships, where they continue to live in expensive quarters paid for by Dutch taxpayers. As keeps happening, the Dutch government finds itself spending far more on immigrants than it had planned for. In January 2023, the Dutch Court of Audit released a scathing report, claiming that the Dutch government had overspent on migrant settlement for 21 of the last 23 years. In 2022, 400,000 new immigrants arrived in the Netherlands. Who will pay for them? How many come with no money and no marketable skills? And how many come precisely to take advantage of all of the benefits provided by the Dutch welfare state, rather than having any intention of working hard, at low wages, as other, non-Muslim, immigrants have done before them? The Dutch have now run out of places to house them, which is why they have been placed even on luxury liners and luxury hotels. The Dutch government has chartered another cruise ship to accommodate up to 1,500 refugees in the port of Rotterdam as the country struggles to cope with the housing demand following a high number of new arrivals.

The MS Silja Europa, a German-built vessel that is the tenth-largest cruise liner in the world, will dock in the Dutch city and house refugees while the local government constructs 1,125 flexible homes and converts office buildings into another 375 homes for the migrants, paid for by the Dutch taxpayer.

The accommodation is reserved for status holders. These are refugees with a temporary asylum residence permit who are entitled to housing in the country. They are allocated a municipality that is obligated to provide adequate housing, and the offer of accommodation must be accepted by the status holder as per the conditions of their residence permit.

The accommodation that is provided these so-called “asylum seekers” (in reality, they are overwhelmingly Muslim economic migrants from the Middle East and North Africa) is often in hotels, far more luxurious than anything these Muslim migrants have at home, but even so, there have been reports of Muslim migrants complaining about having to share rooms, about the quality of their food, and even about their “boredom.” Many Dutch poor would be delighted to have the accommodations provided to these economic migrants, but those Dutch people are being pushed to the back of the line as the migrants are taken care of first, both with new housing, and with temporary shelter in hotels and on cruise ships.

Rotterdam has been ordered by the Dutch government to receive more than double the number of refugees it accommodated last year after an influx in the number of new arrivals. Last year, the city found homes for 861 newcomers, this year that figure has increased to 1,795.

Rijnmond, a local television broadcaster in Rotterdam, called the increase in the number of new arrivals a “problem,” because if the city meets its target, “there will be less room for other Rotterdammers looking for a house, including vulnerable target groups and entry-level home buyers.”

After all, there is only a limited amount of social housing available. This would increase the wait time for a home seeker even further,” its report added.

Alderman Faouzi Achbar is preparing for the new arrivals, which the city expects imminently. Regarding longer-term accommodation, Achbar believes that 500 flexible homes can be built this year with the remainder completed in 2024, meaning some refugees could spend more than 18 months on board the ship before they are relocated.

Think of the torture. An all-expenses paid 18 months, or maybe longer, spent on a luxury cruise ship, with food and medical care provided free, and as soon as brand-new housing is built, those “asylum seekers” can then be transferred to their new apartments with the new furniture, with food and medical care still provided for free by the government. They will continue to enjoy themselves in such settings, far better than anything they had in their home countries, while they wait for their asylum applications to be decided on. If the decision is favorable, they will remain in that housing. If not, they will be asked to leave the country, but enforcement of deportation orders is lax, and in the countries of Western Europe, around 90% of those subject to deportation refuse to comply, and simply disappear into the general population. What they then live on – presumably, the proceeds from crime – is anyone’s guess.

It is unclear where these flexible homes will be built, but Achbar explained that residents living in the vicinity of these locations will be informed “in good time,” although they do not appear to have the right to object or block the plans.

The Rotterdammers will not be told in advance as to where this housing for migrants will be built, and have no right to object to the government’s plans. They must accept, without objection, to having as their neighbors hundreds of Muslim migrants who exhibit much higher rates of criminality than the native Dutch, including street muggings, house burglaries, rapes, and murders. But both the EU and the Dutch government insist that Diversity is Good. Only the bigoted and the Islamaphobic will object to this ever-larger influx of Muslim migrants.

“I think we have to be creative,” Achbar said when asked how Rotterdam will continue to fulfill its obligations to accommodate greater numbers of refugees in the future….

“I think we have to be creative.” In other words, Faouzi Achbar (judging by his name, he is himself a Muslim immigrant, or the son of one) hasn’t the faintest idea as to how Rotterdam will “fulfill its obligations” to house and care for these economic migrants posing as “refugees.” These “obligations” were incurred by whom? The Dutch voted to join the EU, but never to accept the quota of migrants now imposed on it by Brussels. Why do the Dutch have an “obligation” to take in anyone at all, much less people whose presence is certain to make life more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous, for the indigenous Dutch? When will the Dutch voters rebel against this state of affairs, and like people in Hungary and Poland, simply refuse to accept the migrants that the EU wants to saddle them with?

Why must migrants be accommodated so expensively on cruise ships and in four-star hotels? Can’t the Dutch government build quite quickly spartan barracks to house these “fortune seekers,” as Geert Wilders so aptly names them? Why encourage them to think that they will be provided for so lavishly? And a larger question presents itself. Why have the Dutch allowed themselves to be pressured by the EU to take in so many “refugees”? Is this what they intended, when they gave up part of their sovereignty to the EU? Perhaps each member state of the EU should hold a national referendum to see if their people want to continue to have the EU assign a migrant quota to them, or want instead to opt out of the EU-wide system that distributes these Muslim migrants to its members as bureaucrats in Brussels decide? And if, as I suspect, they vote to opt out, perhaps they will go a necessary step further, and decide to close their borders, not to all migrants, but to Muslim migrants, who, after all, are taught to regard the indigenous peoples of Europe as “the most vile of created beings.” How is it possible to integrate people who are taught to believe that? European countries have in the last three decades taken in tens of millions of Muslim migrants. Their peoples can see the unhappy results. It’s time to call a halt.

Hmmmm. They could slip out of port in the middle of the night and take them all back to Africa!

An attack took place this Monday, July 24, 2023, in the early afternoon, at Lake Créteil (Val-de-Marne), Val-de-Marne learned from a source close to the investigation. Armed with a knife, a man tried to attack “non-Muslim” passers-by.

The rapid intervention of the police made it possible to avoid a tragedy, since no injuries were reported. A man was arrested.

“The psychiatric examination of the person in custody concluded that the judgment of the person concerned had been impaired. “A request to the prefecture for hospitalization without the consent of the person concerned is in progress,” indicates the prosecution this Tuesday afternoon to Actu Val-de-Marne.

Of course, all radical Muslims are insane and should be segregated from sane societies, permanently.

Despite Biden’s Pressure, Israel Ends Absolute Power of Leftist Judges

Judicial reform is not an attack on democracy, it’s the downfall of a tyranny.

The vast gap between leftist hysteria and what it’s actually fighting can be easily spotted when it omits discussing the specifics of the case. Take the leftist clamor over ‘book bans’. Then ask them specifically what books are being banned in the majority of cases and then they suddenly have to defend the graphic pornographic content in books like Gender Queer.

The Israeli left, political elites and media allies have been howling that Israel’s democracy is being destroyed because of democratic judicial reforms that would stop the Supreme Court from wielding absolute power and overturning laws simply because the leftists on the court oppose them.

The Herzog visit was in no small part about undermining the Netanyahu government by propping up a leftist opposition figure. (That was why the Dems, who had previously embraced Rep. Ilhan Omar rushed to hide away any dissent, not because they were pro-Israel, but because they were anti-Netanyahu.)

Biden has continued pressuring Israel to stop judicial reform.

President Biden in a statement to Axios called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to move forward with the planned Israeli Knesset vote on a bill that is part of the government’s judicial overhaul, saying he is highly concerned about the legislation and its potential implications.

Biden urged Netanyahu in a phone call last week to try and get a broad consensus for his judicial overhaul legislation. According to two sources briefed on the call, Biden told Netanyahu he isn’t the only one concerned about where the prime minister is taking Israel, many Americans are too.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who on Sunday returned from the U.S. where he met with Biden and discussed the judicial overhaul, is making a last-ditch effort to reach a compromise between the government and the opposition on the legislation.

He has proposed watering down the bill so it will leave the Supreme Court some authority to review government decisions on the basis of reasonableness.

Note the ‘reasonableness’ line.

What it really means is that the Supreme Court is able to overturn decisions reached by elected officials because the leftists on the court (who select their own membership) think they’re not ‘reasonable’.

Imagine in the United States if the Supreme Court had the unlimited power to take any case and to overturn any government decision, not based on the Constitution, but based on its own opinions. Then imagine that the Supreme Court could select its own members. This is the nightmarish situation in Israel which the Left has done everything to uphold because it keeps on losing actual democratic elections.

When Israel’s leftists elites and their foreign allies shriek that democracy is under siege if their courts can’t supersede democratically elected officials, what they really mean is that democracy is besieging them.

With the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, moving to pass judicial reform, some of the country’s biggest companies announced that they were going “on strike”. There was a time when strikes meant workers protesting a handful of entrenched elites, now it’s the elites going on strike to protest the workers.

There was no depth to which leftists proved unwilling to sink including organizing ‘strikes’ in the military and among doctors.

Despite everything, the ‘reasonableness’ standard in which judges can overturn anything they like on a whim (or more likely because they’re leftists who support terrorists and oppose Israel) has been partly rolled back.

The Knesset passed a key piece of the coalition’s judicial reform legislation into law on Monday.

All 64 members of the coalition, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was released from hospital on Monday morning following a procedure to implant a cardiac pacemaker, voted in favor. Opposition lawmakers boycotted the third and final vote.

The amendment to Basic Law: The Judiciary limits the Supreme Court’s use of the so-called reasonableness standard. It bars “reasonableness” as a legal justification for judges to reverse decisions made by the Cabinet, ministers and “other elected officials as set by law.”

That story comes from JNS. Apart from it and IsraelNationalNews, the rest of the media coverage has consisted of hysterical propaganda and smear campaigns. That includes even formerly pro-Israel outlets like Israel Hayom and Jerusalem Post who are corruptly lying, smearing and defending the abusive status quo.

Netanyahu’s ultranationalist and ultra-Orthodox religious allies say the package is meant to restore power to elected officials. Critics say it is a power grab fueled by various personal and political grievances by Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption charges, and his partners.

Ultranationalist and ultra-Orthodox. Not much more needs to be said about Israel Hayom’s current leftist orientation.

The Biden administration considers it “unfortunate” that the Israeli parliament ratified part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s contested judicial overhaul plan on Monday, a White House National Security Council spokesperson said.

That’s one way to know it’s a good thing.

The bottom line is ignore the lies and smears in 99% of the media. That includes even Jerusalem Post and Israel Hayom, never mind garbage like the Times of Israel, and ask what the bottom line is.

The bottom line is judges being able to rule unilaterally.

There’s nothing democratic about that. Judicial reform is not an attack on democracy, it’s the downfall of a tyranny.

North Dakota Cop Shooting Case Just Gets Weirder and Weirder

It has now been well over a week since a Syrian migrant named Mohamad Barakat opened fire on police at the scene of a traffic accident in Fargo, N.D., killing one and wounding two others, and investigators profess to be baffled as to why he would have done such a thing. Meanwhile, the information they have disclosed, which isn’t all that much, is oblique and contradictory, and the local Muslim community has added to the confusion with a decidedly mixed signal. At this rate, we may never find out what really happened in Fargo, and the questions and oddities keep multiplying.

One element of this curious incident that seems certain is that Barakat was planning to murder many more people than just one cop. The Star Tribune reported Friday that according to “North Dakota law enforcement officials,” Barakat “searched online for area public events along with the terms ‘kill fast’ and ‘mass shooting events’ before he ambushed police with nearly 40 rounds of gunfire.”

Barakat’s “final search at 10:30 the night before the shooting was ‘thousands enjoy first day of downtown Fargo street fair.’” The Downtown Fargo Street Fair did indeed begin the day before Barakat’s attack. What’s more, he had “1,800 rounds, multiple guns, and a homemade hand grenade” in his car, “along with gasoline containers and two propane tanks filled with explosive materials built in his home.”

But why did Barakat want to carry out a “mass shooting event”? The Star Tribune says that “the motive for his actions remains unclear.” Mac Schneider, U.S. attorney for the district of North Dakota, said this past Friday that “if there was clear evidence of motive we would share it.” North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley added that “the shooting was not motivated by religious beliefs.”

Maybe not, but there is an extremely odd detail in the Star Tribune report: “Wrigley said a federal ‘guardian report’ was made some years back” about Barakat, “but it was not about a threat of violence. Schneider described a Guardian report as a way for the public to ‘engage local law enforcement.’”

That’s not exactly a full or honest description of what a Guardian report really is. As Twitter user ThunderB, who has been following this case closely and has an abundance of useful information on his or her Twitter page, points out, the Guardian system is officially “The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Terrorist Threat and Suspicious Incident Tracking System.” In this context, a “suspicious incident” is clearly terror-related: “Shortly after the September 11 terrorist attacks, three FBI field offices began using an application called the Terrorist Activity Reporting System to track and monitor terrorist threats and suspicious incidents.”

It is not surprising that the Star Tribune and police officials in Fargo are very reluctant to call this shooting an Islamist terrorist event, or even raise the possibility of it. This is the same attitude taken by European media, police, and governments since 2015 in a mad attempt to protect Muslim migrants from being seen as terrorists and criminals. Of course, Europeans were fooled into thinking all migrants were good people who just needed an opportunity and a little encouragement. 

After 8 years, the Open Doors policy in Europe is just beginning to be seen as a complete failure and has put Europe in a very precarious position of cultural suicide and a growing influence of Islam. 

America is just beginning to feel the effects of a growing population of Muslims, and has, obviously, learned nothing from the great European experiment.

Muslim Protesters Storm Baghdad’s Green Zone

After Denmark Qur’an Burning

BAGHDAD (AP) – Hundreds of protesters attempted to storm Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses foreign embassies and the seat of Iraq’s government, early Saturday following reports of the burning of a Quran carried out by an ultranationalist group in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen.

They were pushed back by security forces, who blocked the Jumhuriya bridge leading to the Green Zone, preventing them from reaching the Danish Embassy.

The protest came two days after people angered by the planned burning of the Islamic holy book in Sweden stormed the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad. Protesters occupied the diplomatic post for several hours, waving flags and signs showing the influential Iraqi Shiite cleric and political leader Muqtada al-Sadr, and setting a small fire. The embassy staff had been evacuated a day earlier.

Hours later, Iraq’s prime minister cut diplomatic ties with Sweden in protest over the desecration of the Quran.

An Iraqi asylum-seeker who burned a copy of the Quran during a demonstration last month in Stockholm had threatened to do the same thing again Thursday but ultimately stopped short of setting fire to the book. He did, however, kick and step on it, and did the same with an Iraqi flag and a photo of Sadr and of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

On Friday afternoon, thousands protested peacefully in Iraq and other Muslim-majority countries.

Hold-on! This is astounding. In all the years I have been doing this blog, I have never heard of a peaceful protest by Muslims. Go figure!

Also on Friday, according to Danish media reports, members of ultranationalist group Danske Patrioter burned a copy of the Quran and an Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen and livestreamed the action on Facebook….

Nigeria: Muslims murder 37 Christians in Benue State

There hasn’t been much news of the jihad in Nigeria lately, but this is not because things have calmed down. The Nigerian media, apparently under pressure from the government, has begun to imitate the Western media. Instead of noting that these attacks were carried out by “Fulani herdsmen” or “Boko Haram,” which would indicate that they were jihad attacks, Nigerian media outlets have begun referring to the attackers solely as “bandits” or “gunmen,” without giving any hint of their ideology or goals. This removes the jihad in Nigeria, which is advancing aggressively, from the international consciousness, and allows it to continue unimpeded without fear of any international pressure to protect the victims.

Terrorists Kill 37 Christians in Benue State, Nigeria

ABUJA, Nigeria (Morning Star News) – Fulani herdsmen and other terrorists on Sunday (July 16) killed six Christians in Benue state, Nigeria, the latest of 37 Christians slain the past three weeks in the state, sources said.

The assailants arrived on motorcycles at the predominantly Christian villages of Igba-Ukyor and Tse Baka villages, Ushongo County, at about 8 p.m. on Sunday, said Ushongo resident Bemgba Iortyom.

“The terrorists, who accompanied armed herdsmen, first attacked Igba-Ukyor village, where they killed five Christians, and then proceeded to a second village, Tse Baka, where they killed one Christian,” Iortyom told Morning Star News in a text message.

Two other predominantly Christian communities were attacked in Ukum County on July 8, resulting in the massacre of 30 Christians, area residents said. Zaki Akpuuna and Diom villages were attacked at 11 a.m., said Kartyo Tyoumbur, the Ukum council chairman.

“The band of terrorists was made up of about 20 who were armed with deadly weapons,” Tyoumbur told Morning Star News. “They burned down several houses. Thirty corpses of Christians killed were recovered, while searching for missing Christians is ongoing.”

Saying victims were members of the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST) and the Roman Catholic Church, he identified some of the slain in Zaki Akpuuna as Kator Terwase, Aondowase Kator, Albert Tsavnongo, Mbaalumunga Felix, Terzungwe Kartyo, Hangeior Agudu, Terkimbi Umough, Ushahemba Akerchi, Friday Ezekiel, Terwase Mkoholga, Ayu Ageva Vaakaa, John Ikpor, Bem Shima, Vanger Kwaghkaa, Shaagee Tyokaa, Mfedoo Mamfe, Koholga Sase, Iorlumun Dai, Kwaghmande Mngueorga, Msugh Terwase, Ngutor Oraduen, Iortange Uye and Aker Orgema.

On June 30 in Tse Anwhwan village, Logo County, one Christian was killed and two others wounded in an ambush at about 8 p.m., said Council Chairperson Salome Tor.

“The armed men ambushed and opened fire on the victims and murdered one Mr. Saater Apera, a member of the NKST church, and also shot and injured two other Christians,” Tor told Morning Star News. “The incident was reported to the police, and the corpse of the murdered Christian was recovered, while the two injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.”…

Nigeria leads the world

Nigeria led the world in Christians killed for their faith in 2022, with 5,014, according to Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List (WWL) report. It also led the world in Christians abducted (4,726), sexually assaulted or harassed, forcibly married or physically or mentally abused, and it had the most homes and businesses attacked for faith-based reasons. As in the previous year, Nigeria had the second most church attacks and internally displaced people.

In the 2023 World Watch List of the countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian, Nigeria jumped to sixth place, its highest ranking ever, from No. 7 the previous year.

“Militants from the Fulani, Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and others conduct raids on Christian communities, killing, maiming, raping and kidnapping for ransom or sexual slavery,” the WWL report noted. “This year has also seen this violence spill over into the Christian-majority south of the nation… Nigeria’s government continues to deny this is religious persecution, so violations of Christians’ rights are carried out with impunity.”

Numbering in the millions across Nigeria and the Sahel, predominantly Muslim Fulani comprise hundreds of clans of many different lineages who do not hold extremist views, but some Fulani do adhere to radical Islamist ideology, the United Kingdom’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom or Belief (APPG) noted in a 2020 report.

“They adopt a comparable strategy to Boko Haram and ISWAP and demonstrate a clear intent to target Christians and potent symbols of Christian identity,” the APPG report states.

Christian leaders in Nigeria have said they believe herdsmen attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt are inspired by their desire to forcefully take over Christians’ lands and impose Islam as desertification has made it difficult for them to sustain their herds.

Desecrating or Burning the Qur’an in Sweden Creates Hysteria

All Muslim countries have laws banning “blasphemy,” which includes, among other things, setting fire or otherwise treating with disrespect the Qur’an. Recently an Iraqi Christian, identified as Salwan Momika, has been testing the consequences of his “Islamic blasphemy.” In June, he set fire to a first Qur’an outside a Stockholm mosque during the major Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, which triggered widespread condemnation throughout the Muslim world. In July, the same man stomped on and kicked a Qur’an in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Stockholm. In retaliation, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered the expulsion of the Swedish ambassador from Iraq and the withdrawal of the Iraqi charge d’affaires from Sweden. He also forced Ericsson, a Swedish company, to halt work in Iraq. But that was not enough to calm angry Iraqis; another protest was held on Friday afternoon, and then another on Sunday. Calm has not returned, either to Iraq or to other Muslim countries.

Countries summon Sweden’s envoys to protest against Quran burning

Iran’s foreign ministry summoned Sweden’s ambassador in Tehran on Thursday to “strongly protest against the desecration of the holy Quran”, state media reported.

Demonstrations are planned to be held throughout the country after Friday prayer.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has also written a letter to the United Nations secretary-general over the incident….

Iraq’s foreign ministry also condemned the attack on the Swedish embassy and said it would sever diplomatic ties with Sweden if such an incident was to take place again.

The Kingdom of Jordan condemned the Quran’s desecration in Stockholm “as a reckless act that fuels hatred, and a manifestation of Islamophobia that incites violence and insult to religions”, its foreign ministry said on Thursday….

The Qatari foreign ministry said in a statement that Swedish authorities should take “all the necessary measures to stop these shameful acts”.

Saudi Arabia summoned the Swedish charge d’affaires in Riyadh and handed them a note of protest.

Turkey condemned it as a “despicable attack” and called on Sweden to take “decisive measures to prevent this hate crime” against Islam….

The United Arab Emirates summoned the Swedish charges d’affaires to strongly condemn the continuation of the Swedish government’s allowance of attacks on copies of the Quran, the state news agency (WAM) reported on Friday.

The leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, called on Arab and Muslim countries to follow Iraq’s steps and expel Swedish ambassadors from their countries.

He also called on demonstrations to be held after Friday prayers, saying that “the whole world must see how we embrace our Quran, and the whole world must see how we protect our Quran with our blood”.

Other protests, either to the burning of the Qur’an in June, or to the stomping on the Qur’an in July, have come from the Taliban in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

So far, Sweden is standing firm. It has refused to answer Muslim calls for Salwan Momika to be punished, and of course has not bothered to answer Ayatollah Khamenei’s demand that Momika be handed over to a Muslim country to be judged.

Now Denmark has become part of the story. The activist Rasmus Paludan, a citizen of both Sweden and Denmark, in late July set fire to two Qur’ans – the first near a Copenhagen mosque and the second outside the Turkish embassy in Denmark.

The same Muslim hysteria previously directed at Sweden has been extended to Denmark. Jordan, Oman, and Saudi Arabia have been the first to condemn Denmark for allowing this latest Qur’an desecration. Desecration of the Quran thrice in one month has raised diplomatic tensions with Denmark and Sweden, with Muslim countries now demanding enactment of laws criminalizing desecration of their sacred book.

What the Muslim countries are demanding is nothing less than the abandonment by Western democracies of the most important right of all, the one without which democracy cannot exist – free speech. The governments of both Sweden and Denmark have distanced themselves from the Qur’an burnings – Sweden’s government has condemned the burning of the Qur’an outside Stockholm’s main mosque, calling it an “Islamophobic” act: “The Swedish Government fully understands that the Islamophobic acts committed by individuals at demonstrations in Sweden can be offensive to Muslims,” the foreign ministry said in a statement on July 23. Denmark also condemned the burning of copies of the Muslim holy book, the Qur’an, calling it a “shameful act” that “disrespects the religions of others.” But neither Denmark nor Sweden has suggested it might be willing to pass any kind of anti-blasphemy legislation.

What have these Qur’an burnings and desecrations shown us?

First, that Muslims have no regard for Western freedoms. Unfree themselves – monarchies and despotisms prevail in the Arab and Muslim world — they do not appreciate, nor understand, what freedom of speech means, and why it is the most indispensable of rights in a democracy.

Second, the alacrity with which Western countries – in the cases under discussion, Sweden and Denmark — are ready to denounce those determined to exercise their free speech rights, is disheartening. There is no need to distance themselves from those brave souls. Western countries should say only this: protecting the “freedom of speech” does not constitute “approval” of such speech. That’s enough. That’s more than enough.

Third, Sweden’s hate speech law prohibits incitement against groups of people based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity. Some may claim that burning the Qur’an constitutes incitement against Muslims, and should therefore be considered as hate speech. It should not. Such acts as Qur’an burning are targeting the religion of Islam, rather than practitioners of the faith; criticism of religion must continue to be covered by freedom of speech, even when some consider it offensive.

Fourth, Western democracies must support fellow democracies whom Muslim states and peoples are trying to threaten into passing blasphemy laws. Blasphemy, defined as “speech or actions considered to be contemptuous of God or of people or objects considered sacred,” is outlawed in every Muslim country. In at least seven countries – Afghanistan, Brunei, Iran, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia – blasphemy carries a potential death sentence.

The Western democracies should make it clear — and without trying to placate Muslim mobs across the world by expressing their own abhorrence of Qur’an-burning as “Islamophobic” — that there will be no blasphemy laws enacted in the advanced Western countries; save in the case of hate speech, the freedom of speech must remain sacrosanct.
