While Pakistan is in dire need of laws demanding respect for all wives, this has nothing to do with today's suffering women of Pakistan. It's about Mohammed's child bride and the first three caliphs who followed Mohammed as leader of the pack. It's an attack on Shi'a Muslims and it started in the very first generation of Islam. In fact, it started long before then when God described Ismail's future descendants to his mother, Hagar:

That would be Aisha and the first three caliphs, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman. The Shia generally hate Aisha, as she was the foremost enemy of their revered figure, Ali ibn Abi Talib. According to Islamic tradition, when Aisha was accused of adultery, she overheard Ali telling Muhammad that it didn’t matter if she were stoned to death, he could always get another wife. This was the seed of the Sunni-Shia split, which came years later. Shia also believe that Muhammad chose Ali to succeed him but that he was passed over in favor of those first three caliphs. Thus they often denigrate Aisha and the three caliphs; this law is designed to stamp that out.

Pakistan toughens punishment for disrespecting Prophet’s family and companions

Pakistan’s parliament has passed legislation which extends prison terms and fines for those disrespecting wives, family members and companions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The Senate passed the “Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill 2023” yesterday which stipulates punishments of a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison, as well as a fine of one million rupees (approximately $3,500).
Previously, the maximum sentence for these acts was three years in prison.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, one of the sponsors of the bill, said that the death penalty for blasphemy of the Prophet (pbuh) himself remains unchanged under the Penal Code of Pakistan.

As many as 4,000 people are estimated to have been killed by Shia-Sunni sectarian attacks in Pakistan between 1987–2007….
India and Pakistan both have about 200 million Muslims, next to Indonesia which has about 231 million. 85 - 90% of Muslims in Pakistan are Sunni, while 10 - 15% are Shi'a. That is about 25 million Shi'as that the government wants to get rid of.
17 killed in two terrorist attacks in central Mali

BAMAKO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) — A total of 17 people were killed and two others injured in two terrorist attacks over the weekend in central Mali, local authorities said Monday.
The first attack took place on Saturday in Bodio village in Bandiagara region, leaving 15 people dead and two injured, according to a statement of the Bandiagara governorate. And two people were killed in another attack on Sunday at a mine between Bodio village and Anakanda village.
“Operations are underway to track down the perpetrators of this despicable act which will in no way discourage us from our eternal fight for the preservation of our country,” the statement said….
Rebel groups kill at least 21 people in northeastern Congo,

…In a second attack on Saturday, armed rebels with ties to the Islamic State group killed 10 civilians in a northeastern province, a local human rights activist said….
Christophe Munyanderu, a human rights activist and coordinator in Ituri province, said on local radio that 10 civilians were killed Saturday by members of the Allied Democratic Forces, or ADF, which has established ties with the Islamic State group. The group rarely claims responsibility for attacks….
The ADF has been accused of launching many attacks in recent years targeting civilians in remote parts of eastern Congo and across the border in Uganda, including one in June in which 42 people, mostly students, were killed.
