in rage over Qur’an burnings

The pressure on Sweden, as well as Denmark, to discard the freedom of speech and adopt Sharia blasphemy laws is relentless, because those who are applying this pressure can see that the Swedes and Danes are buckling. The freedom of expression doesn’t have long to live now.

Sweden’s embassy in Lebanon attacked amid anger over Quran burning incidents

by Navya Beri, WION, August 11, 2023:

Lebanon witnessed demonstrations at mosques, while the chief of the pro-Iran Shiite Muslim group Hezbollah called for the Swedish ambassador to be removed from his position.

Stockholm’s foreign minister and a diplomatic source released a statement on Thursday saying that an attacker threw a Molotov cocktail at Sweden’s embassy in Beirut following recent incidents involving burnings and desecrations of Islam’s holy book Quran.

“We confirm that there was a Molotov cocktail thrown at the facade of our embassy last evening, which did not explode,” a diplomatic source at the embassy said, requesting anonymity as they were not authorised to talk to the media.

The “perpetrator managed to run away”, the source added.

Tensions have escalated between Sweden and Muslim countries after several protests involving public desecration of the Quran were reported in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Lebanon witnessed demonstrations at mosques, while the chief of the pro-Iran Shiite Muslim group Hezbollah called for the Swedish ambassador to be removed from his position….

Denmark’s government late last month said it would put legal limitations in order to stop the demonstrations involving the burning of Islam’s holy book Quran in certain circumstances, citing security concerns.

“The burnings are deeply offensive and reckless acts committed by few individuals. These few individuals do not represent the values the Danish society is built on,” Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said separately in a statement.

“The Danish government will therefore explore the possibility of intervening in special situations where, for instance, other countries, cultures, and religions are being insulted, and where this could have significant negative consequences for Denmark, not least with regard to security,” he said.

“This must of course be done within the framework of the constitutionally protected freedom of expression and in a manner that does not change the fact that freedom of expression in Denmark has a very broad scope,” the Danish foreign ministry said in a statement.

Do Sweden and Denmark have the courage to resist Islamic hysteria? It's a slippery slope once you start yielding to Sharia.

Sweden: Iraqi refugees desecrate Qur’an outside

Stockholm’s Royal Palace

AUG 15, 2023 3:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER

Al Jazeera, like the establishment media in the West, shows no curiosity about why a couple of Iraqis would have anything against the Qur’an. No one ever asks Momika or Najem why they do this; they know why, and don’t want anyone else to catch on. Meanwhile, note Al Jazeera saying that the Qur’an burnings have “raised security issues for Swedish nationals abroad.” This is false. Actually, Muslims deciding to react violently to Qur’an burnings have raised security issues for Swedish nationals abroad, not the burnings themselves. But everyone has accepted that shift in responsibility by now, and takes it for granted. Note also Al Jazeera’s attempts to assassinate Momika’s character: he’s “far right,” you see. The boys at Al Jazeera know that Western Leftists lap up such stuff, and it will ensure that no one strays off the reservation and starts to have any sympathy for those who are trying to defend the freedom of expression in its dying days.

Copy of Quran desecrated outside Stockholm’s Royal Palace

by Nils Adler, Al Jazeera, August 14, 2023:

Stockholm, Sweden – A copy of the Quran has been desecrated in Sweden’s capital as two men kicked the Muslim holy book and burned several of its pages in front of the Royal Palace amid a heavy police presence.

Monday’s incident marked the second time in a matter of weeks that Salwan Momika, 37, and Salwan Najem, 48, have burned the Quran, an act permitted under Sweden’s freedom of speech laws, at Mynttorget, a central square surrounded by government buildings and the palace….

Present among the crowd was a group wearing firefighter-themed outfits whose members chanted “extinguish the hate” while handing out plastic firefighter hats and encouraging onlookers to speak into their megaphones.

Those granted permission to burn the Quran are allocated a one-hour slot, after which the police disperse them and allow people to collect any remnants of the desecrated holy book.

On this occasion, Momika and Najem had printed multiple pages of the Quran that had text in Arabic as well as translations in Swedish that blew across the square.

After the pair left the area under police escort, several men rushed across the square, picking up the pages from the ground and from the walls leading to the Royal Palace….

The burnings have caused a diplomatic crisis for Sweden and led to demonstrations in several countries calling for a boycott of Swedish products.

It has also raised security issues for Swedish nationals abroad….

After the first Quran burning, Swedish authorities received information that led to the Migration Agency opening a case to reconsider Momika’s residence permit.

Videos and photos from when he lived in Iraq appear to show he had a leadership role in a Christian militia group that was part of a Shia Muslim umbrella organisation with close ties to Iran.

Momika has also expressed favourable views towards the right-wing, anti-immigration Sweden Democrats party on social media.

Najem emigrated from Iraq in 1998 and became a Swedish citizen in June 2005.

Both men are currently being investigated on suspicion of incitement against an ethnic group.

That should be good, since they are a part of that ethnic group.
