Never has it ever occurred to me that Jesus might tell me something in error. I might misinterpret what He has said, or I might suspect that it was not the Lord Who spoke to me. Angels and demons can put ideas into our heads, so we have to be cautious in our responses.
There are ways to determine whether the source of our thoughts is Godly or demonic. Ideas emanating from God will never contravene His written word. Furthermore, it will, on the surface, appear to benefit others more than we, and, in fact, is likely to cost us something.
Ideas that come from demons, or from ourselves, are most likely to benefit us in some way, often appealing to the lusts of our flesh, the lusts of our eyes, or the pride of life. We must recognize these temptations for the evil they are.
