'YOU'LL ALL DIE' Berlin terror attack – ‘Islamic extremist’ ‘hunted down motorcyclists’ in motorway ramming rampage

Mark Hodge, The Sun

AN Islamic extremist "hunted down motorcyclists' in his car on a Berlin motorway injuring six, authorities said.

A 30-year-old Iraqi man exited the vehicle after a series of smashes last night claiming to have a bomb while allegedly shouting "nobody comes closer, otherwise you will all die", local media reports.

Three of the wounded were severely hurt when the man allegedly drove his Opel Astra into a number of motorbikes, some of which collided with cars, along a stretch of the German capital's highway.

The Iraqi, who was reportedly suffering from psychological problems, has been named only as 'Sarmad A' by the public prosecutor due to the country's strict privacy laws.

Psychological problems are a prerequisite for radical Muslims. Unfortunately, there are tens of millions of them.

Martin Steltner, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office, said: "The man is suspected of having deliberately hunted down motorcycles."

The suspect is being investigated for three cases of attempted murder, officials said.

It has been reported that the alleged attacker later stopped on the highway and put a box on the roof of his car, claiming it had explosives inside.

According to respected German newspaper Bild, the 30-year-old allegedly began shouting "allahu akbar" or "God is great."

It was at this point he reportedly shouted: "Nobody comes closer, otherwise you will all die".

According to Der Tagesspiegel, the alleged attacker then rolled out a prayer mat on the road and knelt down.

Armed police were able to overpower the man and detain him while bomb specialists found only tools in the box.

Three people on bikes were injured including a fireman who is fighting for his life with severe head and spinal injures, Mr Steltner said in a statement today.

Another three victims were injured travelling in a car when a motorcyclist collided with them after being rammed by the extremist.

A traffic officer of Arabic descent bravely approached Sarmad and talked him away from the car - a move which directly led to his arrest.

Mr Steltner said: "The courage of the official was impressive."

“According to the current state of our investigation we assume this was an Islamist-motivated attack”, Berlin's senator for the interior, Andreas Geisel said.

Several motorcyclists were targeted in the depraved assault.

The suspect first hit a car on the highway in the Wilmersdorf neighborhood, then drove into a motorcyclist, leaving him behind with life-threatening injuries.

He hit a second person on a motor scooter and eventually used his car to push a third motorcyclist into the front of another car, prosecutor Steltner said.

The suspect finally got out of his car near the Alboinstrasse exit in Berlin's Tempelhof district.

The crashes at three different locations shortly before 7pm local time led to a complete closure of one of Berlin's main arteries and led to long traffic jams with some 300 people stuck for hours.

This is not the first time Berliners have been terrorised by Islamic extremists.

In December, 2016, a Tunisian man rammed a truck into a Christmas market in the city killing 12 and injuring 56.

A man was arrested for killing his six-month-old son after an argument with his wife in the city of Lahore, Pakistan on August 16.

The incident took place in the Naidra Abad area of South Cantt in Lahore, according to the police, Pakistani news outlets reported.

The couple had gotten into an argument after which the suspect went into his room with the infant, locked it and threw him on the floor.

“When I went inside, I saw my son lying on the floor,” the accused’s wife was quoted as saying. “His head was bleeding and he had lost consciousness,” she added.

The six-month-old, identified as Faizan, succumbed to his injuries and passed away on the way to the hospital, local media reported.

According to some reports, the culprit, identified as Naveed, accused his wife of being unfaithful.

The police said that the couple often fought during which the suspect beat up his wife and abused her.

“He recently smashed a glass bottle on her head due to which she had to get 21 stitches,” a police officer was quoted as saying.

A case has been registered against the accused.

Sweden’s new Arab Party vows to ‘take responsibility for its people,’ denies plans to ‘Arabize’ Scandanavian country

Sweden’s new Arab Party, established to champion the rights of the country’s Arab population, has vowed to assist integration “and protect the rights of Arabs” while denying any claims it might “Arabize Sweden.”

According to its website, the party assumes a “socialist orientation with certain capitalist elements” while highlighting that it is a “secular party and no religious symbols or clothing are allowed within the party’s representatives.”

At present, its stated aims are to combat “exclusion, anxiety about the future, division and lack of sense of community,” while also reducing “crime and unemployment within the same group.”

It is expected to release a detailed manifesto in September but, in the meantime, it has laid out several requirements for membership including: an Arab background from at least one parent dating back several generations, as well as a Swedish college education and clean criminal record.

Sounds like a pretty small group to me.

However, at least one party member and point of contact, a 33-year-old man based in Malmo, was convicted in 2017 of illegal threats and harassment, though the party disputes the severity of those crimes.

To avoid any systemic discrimination, Sweden does not keep demographic figures according to ethnicity but there were 155,000 Arabic speakers in Sweden at the start of the decade, or roughly 1.5 percent of the total population. That would be 2011.

Migration to the country has increased dramatically in the intervening decade, with 163,000 asylum seekers mostly from the Middle East and North Africa arriving in 2015 alone. A census is due to be carried out in 2021, which may shed more light on the significance and potential influence that the new Arab Party might expect to yield in Swedish public policy in the coming years.
